The sommelier provided me a sparkling from Mendoza to start off, which is quite nice. And with the first course of the menu, Tuna Ceviche, the wine also paired well with the tuna flavors, which is also fresh, tender, and seasoned interestingly with sesame oil. The guacamole on the bottom further gave a richness to the dish, making it a good start for our dinner.

Next came the Scallops Succotash. Frankly the texture of the scallops is a bit too rubbery and disappointing. The roasted fresh corn, chili, smoked paprika and fresh lime however was good, with sweetness, spiciness and acidity adding to the flavors of the scallops to give an extra dimension.

The fourth course is Tira de Ancho, a spiral cut, slow grilled with chimichurri which is a sauce, and served with humita and chips. The meat is really tender and juicy, perfectly grilled to my request of medium. Compared with the meat we had last time, this one is far better and truly demonstrated their excellence. The humita is a native American dish from pre-Hispanic times, with mashed corn and pumpkin, which is unique and interesting.

Then we have the Lomo Medallions, a tender filet grilled to medium rare for me, and served with flat mushroom cooked in garlic and thyme. Again the meat is just wonderful on taste and texture, impeccably grilled to the right level. Accompanying by a Cabernet/Malbec blend from Mendoza, it is the perfect complement to the meat.

The first dessert is a Dessert Sampler, containing three signature desserts from the restaurant. I don't know exactly what those are, but one should be a chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream and crispy caramel toppings, the other being a toffee fudge with banana slices and the last a salted dulce de leche and hazelnut cheesecake. Very sweet and really a treat for someone who like dessert, but would be a bit too sweet for most local people.

Last is a Selection of Cheese, served with Malbec chutney and oat cakes. The cheese are all very good, and there is a blue cheese that even for me who is not a big fan of cheese can easily enjoy. The chutney provides a fresh fruity flavor and with the oat cakes to accompany like a cracker, it is a wonderful conclusion to the meal.
Apart from the food, the service is also very good. My wife is on diet and so she requested the sauce to be on the sides whenever possible, and changing also the dessert to a simple fruit platter. The friendly staff listened attentively and worked to our satisfaction, plus also giving good recommendation on wine, checking with us on the food, and sharing her experience in HK which makes the whole meal even more pleasant.
With two glasses of wine, a bottle of water, a cup of coffee and the each of us taking the tasting menu, the total bill was $2152, which is fairly reasonable. Just remember to pre-order the tasting menu when you reserve your table, as that is only available through advance booking.
My overall rating is 73/100.

However  the service was extended to 2 caucasian diner later on by  the male serving staff. 
The bread basket was decent and when we asked for another basket , the male serving staff told us that they will refill once the bread is ready from the oven . None came .   When i ask for sauce to accompnay the 400 g of steak that i order ,  the female waiting staff informed that the restaurant do not serve sauce with the steak , she however  provided mustard  as that is available.  I had read in one of the reviews  that the restaurant offer complimentary Bluecheese , peppercorn , mushroom  and berniese .  Anyway after spending  hkd 1400 last night , we will never go back again.  My advise to the restautrant is to get  the  female serving staff  to smile more.

GAUCHO來至英國, 在英國不同的城市都有餐廳。海外城市就只有杜拜、香港有分店。店子走冷艷的路線, 顏色上運用了大量的黑色, 又有皮椅, 帥氣得很。枱與枱之間的空間預留很多, 整體來說很是舒適的。相信GAUCHO本就是想走商務客人的路線吧, 不過以此為基準, 又覺得餐廳所選的背景音樂似乎太嘈太活潑了?

先上的麵包已經有驚喜。除了普通的麥麵包之外, 竟然還有芝士波波球。聞到芝士香之時還以為是芝士鬆餅呢, 拿上手捏捏, 柔軟彈性的質地才透露出它的本性。芝士香味很濃郁, 吃一小顆很過癮, 但多吃會很膩, 不可以貪心。配襯麵包的不是牛油橄欖油黑醋, 而是少見的黑椒、鹽、漬過菜蔬香草的橄欖油, 甜甜香香的, 很不錯。

Broccoli cream soup 非我所愛, 西瓜沙律才是我點的頭盤。老實說我一向都不是太中意以西瓜入饌的。明明就是生果, 單吃已經很好吃, 不用和別的食材搭來搭去吧? 更甚者, 之前所吃過的西瓜沙律, 西瓜就是西瓜, 和旁邊的食材很有疏離感, 意義不大。不過今天所吃的, 有重重的芫荽香包裹著西瓜, 又幾夾。清新好吃, 個人很喜歡。

又感嘆, 小時候極端討厭芫荽, 任何東西只要沾染到點點芫荽之味是無論如何不會放入口的。哪想到長大了, 又會因為芫荽之香而為碟中物加分呢?

主菜方面雖然也有扒可以揀, 但卻是比較精瘦的RUMP STEAK。考慮良久還是改投BURGER的懷抱吧, 不是事後見同事在切她的RUMP STEAK, 卻似乎是軟熟多汁的。要求的MEDIUM RARE也控制得很好呢。

至於我的BURGER, 店員一開始已經解釋了漢堡扒會是全熟的。怕會很乾嗎, 也不會。蕃茄及焦糖化的洋蔥絲已經補充了足夠的水潤度。漢堡扒的牛味也不俗, 鬆緊口感恰當。要挑剔的話, 大約就是麵包不是熱的, 吃起來就差一點點。

甜點無一例行都是甜得發膩的, 不是人人都會喜歡。但我很喜歡自己所點的芝士蛋糕, 雖然樣子貌不驚人, 但聽說是從阿根廷入貨的呢。材料有拖肥, 芝士, 底下又有棒子。最訝異的是中心呈流心狀, 軟粘的質感就似是超嗲的女孩子!
比起strawberry & cream, 或是fruit trifle, 芝士蛋糕似乎甜得更有道理。畢竟聽到「拖肥」兩字已經打好了心理準備嘛。
最後也是今餐的唯一敗筆, 就是我們用了足足二十分鐘去等待我們的餐飲 - 而且是不好飲的餐飲。絕不是因為人多所以要等得久, 而是水吧只有一個人負責, 而這個人忽然不知去了哪裡, 由得單子積聚, 竟也是沒有人替他出飲品! 是管理方面要仔細考量一下吧?

The bread basket was served warm with better, salt, pepper and a refreshing veggie vinegar dip. The regular crusty farm bread has nothing special but the cheese mochi was an interesting choice with an asian twist and it was so delicious! It was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I was a bit disappointed actually (I usually love the combination of watermelon and feta). The dressing was blend and the type of feta cheese they usued was a bit too salty for my like.
I was looking for full-bodied white so I ordered a glass of Viognier (Luigi Bosca Finca La Linda Viognier 2011) ($88/glass), as recommended by the waitress. It's a light Argentina Viognier with a very fruity start and a dry end. I loved its powerful taste and aroma of apricots. It was nice considering its price.

We spent almost an hour consuming the bread and starters before asking for the mains. You could choose the rump steak, gaucho burger or waldorf salad from the restaurant week menu. I never am a fan of rump steaks for it consists of the most worked muscles and thus is the leanest cut of beef. But since Gaucho specialises in steaks, it was of no doubt to order the rump steak.
The steak was served with piperade and dressed rocket. Plating was nothing fancy but the steak looked good. BUT I was so disappointed the moment I started cutting the steak. It was way over-cooked so I didn't eat much. The waitress noticed my disappointment and asked if I wanted a new one without me asking.

The second steak arrived promtly after, this time turned up medium-rare perfectly with a warm and springy pink centre. I was surprised how robust and succulent it was, given its low fat contents. I asked for the french mustard and it went well with the steak.

Four complimentary sauces (4.5/5): blue cheese, peppercorn, mushroom and bearnaise were served warm. My personal favourite were the blue cheese and peppercorn. There were lumps of blue cheese in the flavoursome sauce; And the piquant peppercorn cream sauce added a subtle hint of spice to the steak. The sauces went even better with the side dishes!

As for desserts we ordered the Dulce de Leche cheesecake with Italian meringue and hazelnut and Fruit Triffle.

Service was top-notch. Waiters were attentive and engaging throughout. A complimentary glass of wine was also offered as an apology for overcooking my steak. 

Value:
The restaurant week lunch menu was fixed at $198 with three course. Gaucho has a wide selection of wine from various regions in Argentina. There are plenty of good options even for wine by glass which range from $68-168.
Regular lunch menu is priced at $260 for two courses/ $290 for three courses, which I believe is of good value.

Originally we wanted to try the tasting menu but that actually need to be ordered in advance, so we had to opt for the a la carte instead. For starter we decided to have the Seafood Sampler which marinated shrimp causita, tuna ceviche and seabass tiraditos. The shrimp has an Asian feel with some radish peel providing some spiciness which is reinforced by the mashed potatoes with paprika. The tuna is fresh and tasty, with parsley and avocado adding fragrance to the fish. The seabass has a few pomegranate to give acidity and flavors as well.

The other starter we ordered is the Special Starter, which is a clam with scallops and asparagus. Unfortunately I have to say this dish is not particularly impressive, and calling it Special may be a bit exaggerated from my point of view in terms of its preparation and taste. The scallops nevertheless were decently pan-fried but could be a bit less cooked to maintain the softness inside.

For the main dish we had the Asado de Chorizo, which is a strip cut marinated with smoked garlic, parsley and olive oil. The meat is gamey as recommended by the staff, but my biggest issue on this dish is the tendon of the strip making it extra difficult to cut. It is so chewy and tough that cutting is hard, and certainly too rubbery to swallow. I guess the quality of the meat would be better if we opted for the sirloin or rib-eye, which I would suggest you to do so. On the sides we ordered the flat mushroom and sweet potato wedges. Both are decent in my opinion.

Although already very full, we decided to sample the dessert and ordered the lemon sorbet to clean the palate and the poached plums. The sorbet has good acidity to balance the sweetness to make it refreshing and cleansing, while the plums had mascarpone sabayon sauce, orange compost and shortbread crumble to supplement. It is certainly filling but the shortbread is a bit softened which made me feel it is not very freshly made but overall it is still acceptable.
With a bottle of water, three glasses of wine, the total bill on the night was $1,861 and frankly the price was lower than what I would expect in such a restaurant in the neighborhood. Even though the quality of the food is only fair if given the total package I would still rate the restaurant as having good value over money.
My overall rating is 68/100.

dinner with friends, we were first guided to the bar for happy hour with complimentary foods (like mini burger, the beef already tasted super good, and it's only $3x-5x for a flass of wine), then to our table when all arrived.
steaks were perfectly cooked, wine was great, services was excellent. highly recommended you to try the Lomo, only 2% fat but they managed to cook it so intensely and juicy. desserts were a bit too sweet tho.
will definitely visit again.

週末下大雨,回中環OT也就不想周圍走,來Gaucho吃個午飯繼續乾活,可能雨下的太大,除了我一桌就空無一人。其實離我這麼近的Gaucho之前因為各種原因都錯過幾次飯局,今天借大雨終於一試。週末只有a la carte菜單,所以點了個three cuts和蘆筍。其實小V不是肉食動物,所以可以將這裡點擊率比較高的牛排小試一下也不錯。可惜的是,牛排質量很一般,居然還有很多筋,烤的功夫也不好,要的是medium,居然有塊是妥妥well done, 一塊是medium rare.. 就一個客人,應該沒有廚師忙不過來的可能吧。牛排鹽放的太少,幾乎淡而無味,需要自己再加點鹽個黑胡椒。前餐麵包一般,不過是暖暖的起碼,另外就是阿根廷醬汁不錯。Gaucho的名字還是有點失望。

Steak and service was terrible. They initially forgot two of our steaks, and when they did eventually arrive - the rest of our party halfway thru theirs, it was overcooked, welldone and chewy instead of juicy and tender. Same applied to pretty much all cuts, fillet, ribeye, rump. Sides and dessert were terrific, but given the terrible steak and high pricetag this was a bad experience we shall never repeat. Stay Away!

中環區的星期日應該比較平靜這餐廳並不算太多人而且裝修我絕對滿意燈光比較偏暗裝修擺設我比滿分Crab Causita這個蟹味可以算正常相反這個牛肉他他真的一般不太滿意而這個帶一點點辣點菜時侍應會把牛的款式種類放一盤到你面前慢慢向你介紹而我們選了西冷牛肉一個厚切..一個薄切真的要選其中一款的話我本人比較喜歡薄切但這次牛味是偏重的但可惜味道一般整體來說我真心喜愛這餐廳的一切裝修擺設可惜食物一般但還好...侍應們笑容禮貌我非常滿意而且經理還會問對食物滿意與否除了經理外專門服務我們這張枱的那位侍應亦很好一開始先介紹他自己而且亦都會問我們對食物滿意與否這點已搭救食物質素了

甜品其實都有好多款,但最signature既係cheese cake,但是夜竟然賣晒......唯有下次再食。
另外值得一提係距個tasting room,透明外牆,入面放慢各種來自阿根廷既酒,可以book黎搞小型wine tasting function,我好奇入去睇下,出来既时候撞到个manager (应该都系南美人), 吹左1阵水,feel welcome!
