三個人來這店吃晚飯, 最想吃炸蝦餅, 柚子沙律, 青咖喱... 左看右看, 選了一個二人套餐, 五個菜中包括了三個我們的不二之選, 加上香茅豬扒及馬拉盞通菜, 外加了一份油酥餅, 份量已不少...最後還要了一份甜品, 以為只有一小杯, 原來不是, 很好吃的香茅焦糖燉蛋, 香茅味跟薑味的感覺很相近, 給燉蛋添了一份獨特吸引力呢...喜歡這店, 整體食物的水準不錯, 上菜速度亦不慢, 服務亦不太差...可能不是週末週日, 不用分兩段時間制, 十分之悠閒隨意, 老朋友傾傾講講, 都快十一點...

尋晚同男友到呢間餐廳食晚飯, 諗住貪佢哋有室外位置, 同埋冇裡面咁嘈... 本來一路都冇問題, 但係食食吓隔離枱兩個女仔走咗之後, 有一班人 (約10幾個) 要大枱, 於是啲職員砌咗張大枱比佢地, 之後班人一坐低, 其中一個男仔就話 "經理! 如果你想我哋唔嘈, 你張把風扇移過嚟我哋就唔嘈架啦~...", 於是個經理真係將把風扇移過去, 擺咗喺我哋兩張枱嘅中間 (但係個風口向住佢哋一大班人)!本來把風扇放喺我哋隔, 你要移過啲冇問題, 但係就因為人哋一句話, 個經理一粒聲唔出就搬過去, 講都唔講聲, 完全冇理我哋 (當我哋兩個透明), 係唔係人多比$就會serve得好呢? 價錢都係食氣氛多, 沙田嘅 i-Thai平好多, 不過呢間氣氛正好多, 可能銅鑼灣百德新街一帶感覺高檔一d

麵包雞從遠處的侍應手上拿來時,由於當其時環境偏暗,真的差點以為我不小心叫了一整隻雞,當麵包雞終於上到枱時,我才知道原來雞只是一個容器。麵包雞凸出的就只有雞頭,其餘就全被麵包包圍,侍應幫我們把雞的最上方切開一塊圓形,再一分為四,說這部份是薄餅來,到這一刻我心中哦了一聲,心中的謎底才剛剛解開,原來是咖喱雞肉。咖喱辣味一般,不算是很辣,但確實非常惹味,雞肉不算多,有五六舊左右,大大舊骨不多。接着輪到雞外的麵包,逐小逐小把麵包撕下來再浸入咖喱中,以鬆化軟淋的麵包送咖哩,完全發揮了惹味咖哩的作用,味道一流,情況如同吃芝士火鍋般,只是芝之換了咖哩,但味道依然一絕。撕麵包撕了一會兒後,發覺麵包的份量超出想像,雞頭與雞尾的部份特厚,對這次的二人行絕對太多了,但因為咖哩的確美味非常,最後放棄其他食物也要頂着肚子把這隻雞吃得一乾二淨。老實說,一隻麵包雞兩個人share,份量剛剛好,不需另加其他食物,加兩碗飯就可以了,符合經濟美味飽肚的條件。當然,一場晚飯,第一次來到不可能知道只叫一隻麵包雞就已經足夠。玉子豆腐雜菜煲,被玉子豆腐吸引了,因為很久沒吃了,有點掛住它。上枱時發覺被騙了,看不到玉子豆腐,撈兩撈原來

當然,一場晚飯,第一次來到不可能知道只叫一隻麵包雞就已經足夠。
玉子豆腐雜菜煲,被玉子豆腐吸引了,因為很久沒吃了,有點掛住它。上枱時發覺被騙了,看不到玉子豆腐,撈兩撈原來它們被切到細細粒,吃玉子豆腐我比較喜歡大大粒大大啖咬下去的口感。除了玉子豆腐外,有一大堆菇類,紅蘿蔔,鮑片等,非常足料,味道亦很清新,不失為一個雜菜煲。
南瓜海鮮紅糙米飯,沒有叫白飯,選了這個海鮮飯,換來的是無限失望,豪無一點南瓜味,其實是整碟飯豪無味道,不論蝦還是墨魚圈還是紅糙米飯,零味道。另外以為選用紅糙米會有點特別,但我只是感受到很粗很散的飯。
還有一碗椰汁雞湯,不太嚐到椰汁味,反而有很重的喇沙味,又不是完全的喇沙味,可能是與椰汁混合了,成為了一種很特別的味道,酸酸辣辣的很不錯,雞件的份量亦不少,足足有十多件,是一碗非常好的開胃湯。

不足之處是,我們就只有兩位,落單時點到了麵包雞時,我認為店員應該提醒我們或許點得太多了,那就能避免餘下一大碟飯的後果,浪費食物的感覺真的不好。

同時,於年廿八晚到銅鑼灣找東西吃是一件無比艱難的事情,每一間餐廳都是沒滿場的,唯獨除了這一條食街,而當天溫度亦頗低,室外吹風位便固然沒有人肯到訪。
離去時,在某各落處看到,原來這裡是香辣屋

明爐烏頭魚 - 每次吃泰菜必點之物, 這晚的都算肥美, 其實我最享受把有香茅和南薑等材料的湯汁淋在魚上一面滾熟, 一面嗅著芬香撲鼻的香料味那個過程, 嘻嘻。

這晚比較旺場, 有時比較難找人 serve 我們, 不過人多, 是明白的。但 serve 我們那檯的侍應都幾細心, 不時會叫我們小心熱呀, 煮魚的湯汁快滿瀉了又會替我們舀走等等。

大家本來想趁佳節, 點些酒來喝的, 不過後來就不了了之, 轉場再玩過!

朋友帶我黎呢間, 可以坐下傾下計. 餐廳以開放式設計, 打通內街牆壁, 向告士打道那邊則裝置落地玻璃, 令視覺範圍很寬敞. 燈光柔和, 座位舒適, 無人催單, 確是一個暢談小敍的好地方.進門的一瞬間, 嗅到一陣淡淡的香味. 與其他泰國餐廳的香茅咖哩味截然不同, 卻和我小時候去泰國旅遊時的當地餐館好相近. 餐廳部份服務員是東南亞籍朋友, 倍添異地氣氛.因為朋友有傷在身, 故點菜時並無包括惹味的咖哩炒蟹及蝦餅.越南春卷, 串燒雞肉屬一般, 蒜蓉通菜則比較失望, 菠蘿炒飯份量較少及林身,焗翡翠螺比較大隻硬身爽口, 在黑胡椒, 蒜泥及牛油配搭下, 幾好味.煎油騷餅即叩即做, 新鮮鬆軟.香茅焦糖燉蛋最特別, 初時以為是熱的甜品, 但原來是凍食, 燉蛋上面更有一層像結了冰一樣的焦糖, 與士多啤梨及藍梅連在一起, 好別緻!加兩杯飲品, 五百元結單, ok

朋友帶我黎呢間, 可以坐下傾下計. 餐廳以開放式設計, 打通內街牆壁, 向告士打道那邊則裝置落地玻璃, 令視覺範圍很寬敞. 燈光柔和, 座位舒適, 無人催單, 確是一個暢談小敍的好地方.

進門的一瞬間, 嗅到一陣淡淡的香味. 與其他泰國餐廳的香茅咖哩味截然不同, 卻和我小時候去泰國旅遊時的當地餐館好相近. 餐廳部份服務員是東南亞籍朋友, 倍添異地氣氛.

因為朋友有傷在身, 故點菜時並無包括惹味的咖哩炒蟹及蝦餅.
越南春卷, 串燒雞肉屬一般, 蒜蓉通菜則比較失望, 菠蘿炒飯份量較少及林身,
焗翡翠螺比較大隻硬身爽口, 在黑胡椒, 蒜泥及牛油配搭下, 幾好味.
煎油騷餅即叩即做, 新鮮鬆軟.
香茅焦糖燉蛋最特別, 初時以為是熱的甜品, 但原來是凍食, 燉蛋上面更有一層像結了冰一樣的焦糖, 與士多啤梨及藍梅連在一起, 好別緻!

加兩杯飲品, 五百元結單, ok

不知吃什麼, 原來想找pokka, 但好似已經close了, 看到這間, 以為它decor ok及屬於king parrot group的應該都ok?! 唉... 1) 燒鱔:超咸,咸到想死2) 芒果軟殼蟹卷:『芒果』原來是source來的,軟殼蟹肉太少,不太覺是吃軟殼蟹,四條roll的portion也過少...3) 椰汁焗飯:椰汁超少,所以都幾乾,料仲少,兩隻蝦加雜豆,偶然有墨魚『碎』4) 千層糕:朋友第一口已經要lur,因為受不了杏仁味。這個東西有杏仁、咖啡、椰汁…非常奇怪!我吃了一件已經好好。還有是熱的 去印尼餐廳散買好過!!!5) 椰汁冰:沒有什麼特別,算是最好了。total$36x,個人認為呢個價錢可以食到好好食的東西喇已經點解仲有咁多人?真係食環境…?

今日一班人去食野, 諗唔到去邊又要即刻有位, 就來呢度~叫左啲野食, 都係得個樣, 好睇唔好食, 包括有:肉鬆生菜包 - 啲肉鬆整到好辣, 啲生菜又唔夠大片, 包唔住, 仲要得好少片牛油雞翅膀 - 好油, 係個碟度都見到, 仲要啲表皮炸粉掉落....椰絲蝦 - 都係好油, 有啲椰子味, 算係最好味的一個餸其他叫左啲炒飯粉絲, 不過都係唔好食埋單每人一百, 人人唔飽, 好無畏..........最重要係, 懷疑佢地毯有蝨, 隻腳俾野咬左兩啖!!!! 男朋友都覺得!!!

A year ago the two of us had this sensational lunch here at I-Thai. Back then through a fabulous papaya salad and shrimp cakes, and great rice noodles and coconut-laden green curry I wondered why this place has been hardly known. And then, a few months later, I knew of Openrice, and meant to revisit this place to put a positive spin on the place (after two sad miserable reviews). I-Thai went through renovation and now, since its reopening I decided to go again, this time the review is in mind. I thought it could be easy...I like the place, it has good food, the review should be easy. Turned out, I thought wrong.

The crowded L-shaped dining room is more than crowded now with squarely cut carrels where there is no leg room and more sofa seats. Staff bustling past your table with hot dishes that don't steam, while ice drinks don't frost the glasses. I wonder, what has changed?!

We, a party of three ordered the prix fixe menu for two ($240) that includes:
Green Papaya Salad
Mixed Platter (Chicken Satay, Spring Rolls, fried oysters)
StirFry Beef with Leeks and chilies
Panfried Tiger Prawns with minced pork and Thai brown sauce
Stirfry greens with shrimp paste.

We added from the a la carte menu:
Pineapple fried rice ($78)
Shrimp Cakes ($55)
Pineapple + Mango frosty x 2 (drinks)

Papaya salad lacked the chill (room temp) but the balance of flavour made up for it-- a perfect balance of lime juice, fish sauce and just the right crunch with toasted peanuts. The platter, you can forget about it. Oysters are very bready while chicken satay suffered from overcooking. Spring Rolls' filling didn't have vermicelli noodles and carrots, instead filled with an unrecognizable thick paste that might have been something starchy (my guess-- ube or yam)-- doesn't seem very spring to me either.

Shrimp cakes are execellent. Crispy on the outside and actually tasted like shrimps, unlike most in other Thai restaurants. Beef is overcooked cubes and doesn't have the texture of sirloin as the menu boasted; The greens are crisp and not too salty. Pineapple fried rice is not very fried and aside from not-plump raisins and some mixed vegetables there is nothing in it that you can call "flavours", and please, the pineapple appearance is all an act. Don't be surprised if they reuse that little shell.

But what's the worst there was, the Tiger prawns. The meat is soft I wished I could've sent it back. You can almost feel the meat decomposing in front of you. Absolutely awful. No wonder they need such a strong sauce to cover it up. (and adding to that, we all had the runs this morning, and we're sticking by it's the shrimp..even if it's just one bite)

One thing though, is the serving tray that the waiters deliver your dishes. Guess where they put it? Right BEHIND the cupboard ON THE FLOOR! (when not in use) At one point we see the manager "kicked" the tray back to where it belonged...speaking of hygiene!

The service here is not as bad as reviewed previously, but it's not good. It took forever to wait for anything at all. Hygiene wise, it's poor. Quality of food needs a big deal of improvement. Certainly looks like the old I-Thai has disappeared with the old renovation, only the now crowded and mediocre restaurant remains.
