Before trying the goose head, I did not know that Chinese geese where different to geese.The Chinese geese have a visual bump on their heads!Anyway, I suddenly had this craving for food that tasted like goose liver and crab roe and that weird texture that is similar to sea urchin so I thought goose brain would be similar to that.I picked this place because the geese heads looked big, so they probably were brainer here than in other shops, but not brainy enough to escape being butchered! ★☆★☆★☆★☆

I basically ordered this as a filler. I felt that the roast here was quite expensive.
The bbq sauce was slightly too salty but it was good that they gave a few pieces of long beans instead of Chinese vegetables.

It was quite difficult using chopsticks with the goose head!
I was expecting it to be quite a small portion but after it was chopped, it was a plateful of a head chopped in half and quite a few pieces of neck.

Anyway, I think I wasted quite alot as I only ate the brain and the neck!
I attempted to eat the skin but it still had some feather roots on it.
As expected the brain was delicious, it melts in your mouth! If only this goose was brainier !
The goose neck was quite interesting, the bone was pure white and the bone was really hard and sharp, however their bones seem to be extremely porous with air so that they can float.

四月中旬‧有雨好了,又回復晚上有波睇的日子。少不了的當然是各式小吃,行過這裡,見掛著一個個的鵝頭頸,買幾個回家。鵝頸皮多肉少,脆口豐腴,但味道卻是怪怪的,有點臭臭地。鵝頭有鵝腦在,也有鵝髻,更好吃。只是八元一個,夠便宜。

!牛油溶化不溶化是個人口味,最好讓食客自個兒「動手」,考究的甚至在牛油碟子底下墊冰,誠意十足。這兒是夾了的。先用叉子壓扁,星星碎碎的皮屑撒了一盤子。咬一口,馬上可以斷定,那是一個不及格的菠蘿油──


皮,不夠酥鬆,嘗不到牛油或豬油香氣 (聞說最初菠蘿皮純粹用牛油做,質感厚重;現在大都混了豬油,成本較低之餘,也較輕盈乾爽)。包身雖熱,但不柔軟,弊病乃「黏牙」(語出食友。我同意,那口感,比擬隔夜麪包
),恕我說一句「難吃」!鮮牛油溶化得七七八八,味薄弱,一如植物牛油,乏善可陳
。美味的菠蘿油,別說我區的新華、太子的金華等名店,就是快樂快活,似乎也勝之一籌。

幸凍奶茶像樣。沒有採用碎冰,甜度適中,有茶味。大概我渴,當下覺得特別可口,也喝得飛快。事後回想,水準不過不失而已。


P.S. 「OK」的是凍奶茶。菠蘿油嘛,麵包迷的結論是:「後會無期!」至於題目所指的「消氣」,跟強記沒有關係,不在此解釋了。

後記

六月上旬‧晴來這裡吃早餐,目的不為其他,就只為叉燒奄列而來。撥開蛋先吃叉燒,微甜,不會太腍,有咬口。半肥瘦,吃起上來特別好吃。早上八時許當然不會是新鮮叉燒,但都好吃。蛋薄薄的,但有蛋香又不過油,我覺得是好吃的。咖啡沒有什麼香味,奶茶反而有茶香,不錯。叉燒奄列的早餐要24元了,百物騰貴也。

Conclusion: Since 3 years ago, I ramdomly came into Keung Kee and bought Sui yuk, this has been my favourite and only place I buy my roast pork. Their quality is consistent. everytime I come here, the sui yuk is crispy and warm. Best part is it is always nicely chopped. every piece is nearly same size. the Roast pork is good all the time. when i get roast pork rice, it is also nice. i love this place, although the service is quite bad. Or let's say there arent much service!!! Although they are not the cheapest you can get, they are probably the best. Way better than maxim even!

I walk past this shop a lot, but only eaten here 2 times. One could visually notice that the Char Siu quality fluctuates too much in its roasted outcome looks here!- The Roast Goose I had wasn't good at all. Dry meat, Chewy Skin. 1/5- Char Siu was very good on 1 occasion I went. Good marinade, good malty-sweetness but not overwhelmingly so, tender on each bite and not stringy (not too chemically tenderised too). I walk past this shop a lot, but only eaten here 2 times. One could visually notice that the Char Siu quality fluctuates too much in its roasted outcome looks here!

- The Roast Goose I had wasn't good at all. Dry meat, Chewy Skin.

- Char Siu was very good on 1 occasion I went. Good marinade, good malty-sweetness but not overwhelmingly so, tender on each bite and not stringy (not too chemically tenderised too). On another occasion, the Char Siu disappointed a bit as it was tough even with the fattier marbled pieces. 3/5 to 4.5/5

- Roast Pork... it is not one of best ones around, as it wasn't aromatic and meaty enough, skin wasn't exactly crispy either. My batch this time also contained too much fat for enjoying their meat taste. 2/5

CHAR SIU is the only thing I'll come back here for - but only when it looks good enough! A Smile for that, as its one of the best char siu's I've eaten in Hong Kong on the right day. I just wished the shop becomes consistent.

小妮子點的粟米石斑,加十元可轉套餐,有白飯和例湯,賣六十大元,這碟倒是不錯,魚塊上了粉炸,再淋粟米汁,味道好,各人都喜歡。太座的蜜豆炒蝦球賣七十元,火候十足,蝦爽口,蜜豆亦炒得剛好,還有些少草菇夾雜在內,同樣最可惜的又是調味偏鹹。

品種算多,價錢偏貴,廚藝方面,炒功很好,夠火候,但調味則偏重,大部份都過鹹,在這追求健康的年代,低鹽,低油,低糖已是經常掛於嘴邊,若做不到,最低限度也不要過鹹,才可配合時代的需要。

呢晚我地又凍又餓,最啱就係食茶餐廳。我地本來想叫叉雞飯,點知冇叉燒,咁咪轉燒肉囉,又冇喎,真係百冇。後來叫碗油雞飯算,點知d雞唔係皮就係骨,叫人點食呀?本來d燒臘都係咪有條菜架嘛,點知佢俾得個三條韌皮豆角,又叫人點食呀?另外個樣就叫左斑腩米粉,原本係叫河粉既,但又冇喎,咁食米囉,點知錯有錯著,d米係烘過個隻米,脆卜卜,可惜d汁實在太油,唔係都幾好食。

Needless to say I'm never gonna order from there ever again.
