我今日去試吓呢間越南野。點知今日唔好彩落雨又無位,不過我第一個又一個人食諗住好快。等咗無耐有枱,點知個女侍應竟然要我一係答枱一係再等。我明明黎先又要我等,都係兩人枱點解一定要我讓個兩位入先。而家疫情咁,佢又無板隔,我當然唔想搭枱。唔通坐張兩人枱兩位有優先權?佢一句唔好意思再無,好似你一個人食就係咁。

My friend lives nearby. Two of us went at 6:30pm without booking. Quiet little restaurant with second floor, but it was not opened. Only one table for three eating there. We ordered a papaya salad, a stir fly cabbage and fry rice noodle. Dishes comes in slowly in large portion. The papaya salad was excellent. I finished most of it and leaving not much room for other food. The rice noodle was also good. Spicy but not oily. The cabbage was fresh but I bit hard to chew for me. Just not really my type of veg usually but my friend likes it.
We need to pack one whole big box left over to take away.

忽然發現自己很久沒有吃越南菜啦,恰巧來到這邊就滿足一下自己的口腹之慾。餐廳六點開門,居然門口還是休息的牌牌掛著。等了一會推門而入,昏暗燈光下室內裝飾也能看得出有越南的風情。擅自作主點的菜,無意之中可能反倒是這家餐廳的最受歡迎的菜式。旁觀每一桌和我點的都一樣最喜歡椒鹽田雞腿🍗,肉質鬆軟,入口即化,蒜粒爆香,忍不住吃了幾勺炸的蒜末。熱辣辣的咖喱牛肉煲,冒著熱氣蒸騰而來,用陪著一起來的麵包沾滿咖喱汁甚是鮮美。吃得撐了,好想就這樣一路走回家。😂

首先是生牛肉湯河,我們要了金邊粉,但感覺粉煮的時間不太夠,口感偏硬。牛肉湯的味道一般,不是很油,但牛肉味不夠濃厚。生牛肉有一點點過熟,也是口感偏硬。


牛肉撈檬粉是唯一的亮眼。男友說牛肉應該是乾炒牛河時所用的,因此口感跟味道都很不錯,肉質不會很乾,搭配各種香葉和檬粉也非常入味。


而辣味雞翼是我們第一次吃,上來才發現可能是點錯了(我們應該心裡想的是牛油雞翼吧!),口味和份量也不太如預期。感覺味道不是很夠,男友還發現一塊雞翼裡面透著粉紅色,似乎沒有全熟。雞肉算是嫩滑,但口感只能給個及格分。


這次叫的滴滴咖啡,我們只加了少少煉奶。個人感覺,如果煉奶太多,會過於甜膩,反而影響咖啡的口味。不過喝到最後,杯底有厚厚的一層咖啡粉渣,有點沒想到。


總的來說,這次用餐體驗令男友和我感到驚訝。也可能是預期太高,所以對此次食物質素尤感失望。如果算上服務員和餐廳環境等,勉強是合格的一餐,但短期內可能不會將其作為越南菜的首選。

A LONG LONG time ago when this opened, I tried it and didn't really come back. It was ok. Not great. So, it was a long time since I returned.

The setting is dark and very dated. Curtains were drawn and there wasn't enough lighting. I don't know what mood they were trying for but it was a very old fashioned mood.

I ordered from the lunch set which is one appetizer, one main and one drink for $98.

Vietnamese Spring Rolls. This was my choice of appetizer. What a mistake but I looked at what my coworkers chose as appetizer and theirs was worse. The spring rolls were not only super oily, but chewy and limp. I suspect they were fried before hand and then reheated in the microwave to warm them up again.

Raw Steak Pho. The soup base had no beef flavor but just a lot of salty MSG. The use of Chinese ho fun is pretty usual in many Vietnamese restaurants here but these were still clumped together and I had to pull the strands apart with my chopsticks before eating. The beef was tough and chewy.

My drink (forgot to take photo) was a lime soda. Usually it's served in a glass of soda with some lime on the bottom where you poke at it it to squeeze out the juices. That is typical and expected. This place? I got a glass of soda with the juice already added, making me suspect that not fresh limes were used packaged lime juice.

Seriously, for $100 per person for a lunch set, this was not worth it at all. One of my coworkers ordered Hainan chicken rice. As far as I know ... that is now Vietnames and this is a Vietnamese restaurant. Good grief. Will not return. At least on my own and me paying anyways.

這一個中午,與同事及上司們來到寧靜的跑馬地用膳。同以往一樣,選擇餐廳的重任又交在我手上。本來找到一家地點隱蔽的老食店,可是來到目的地,已經人去樓空,只好先去完成公司的事情,再行隨街選擇。身在景光街,看看周圍,就在面前讓我看到了一間感覺有點古味的法式越南餐廳,而且$90-$120的套餐價錢,還是可以接受的。在跑馬地食飯,通常都會比外面的貴一至兩個點子,但有一個好處,就是不用排隊同等位,同埋環境上總有一點兒的優雅,始終,跑馬地是有錢人的地方麻。這兒的午市套餐,包一個飲品,包一個小吃,感覺豐富,細心數一數,這是正宗的西式 3 course lunch。前菜,我們來了越南 Style 的春卷,大家也知道,越南春卷用的是米紙,食起來份外的香脆,春卷內,餡料以粉絲為主,但當中加入了魚露,令到香味份外的濃郁。西人喜歡香脆,越式的法國菜,還是法式的越南菜,都是以香同脆為主。另一個香的前菜,就是越式沙律。這一個沙律做法同泰式沙律的分別不太,唯一的不同就是不辣。這些南亞風味沙律,很喜歡用上柚肉來配搭,因為在大熱天,吃上帶有少少苦澀味的柚子,的確會給予你一種莫名其妙的涼快感,這一個越南沙律,再加了魚露的香味

東南亞食品中,永遠都離不開燒烤,沙爹串燒雞肉便是東南亞食品中的最吸引者。燒香了的肉,本身已經香味十足,再加上花生味濃郁的沙爹醬,味道更香更惹味,若是傳統一點,連沙爹一起再燒再烤,這一個雞串只會更香。

東南亞國家的食物,有一個共通的地方,就是很喜歡食不同類型的米粉。我們點的炒檬粉,就是一個帶有香茅味、青檸味、魚露味,多味集一身的香味炒河,再配上了鮮味十足的小蝦,鮮色香味齊全。

越南也是有咖喱的,我點了他們的咖喱牛腩。他們的牛腩,入口腍,味道也是十足,充滿了薯仔的咖喱汁,入口有椰香也有花生香,香濃,味道好。

食越南飯,好多時都會聯想起香茅豬扒飯。食食下,感覺到這兒的烤,味道香口之餘,熱力十足但沒有熱氣或上火的感覺。這一份簡單的香茅豬扒也不例外,用香茅醃過的豬扒,總有一種特別吸引的香味,而且沒有因為以過強的火而令到豬扒乾而熱氣。而魚露,除增強味道之外,亦是我覺得吃了那麼多煎炸食物後完全不覺熱氣的原因。

另一個令我不感覺熱氣的原因,就是一杯冰凍的青檸梳打。味道酸酸味味的,但之後你會感覺到甜味慢慢從自己的口腔內製造出來,而且青檸配梳打水帶出來的微酸感,就算不太凍也會給你一個透心涼的感覺,絕對是消暑良物。

越式西食,就是法式越南茶或越式法國菜的特色。而這一裝修帶點古氣的越南餐廳,帶給我們的感覺,是昔日法國殖民地時代的越南味道。西人,坐在湄公河畔,用刀叉吃精緻的越菜,再用法式麵包去點咖喱,這就是法式的越南生活。在這一家越南餐廳,牆上的圖片,店子的獨特氣氛同年代感,可是推門回大街上,是2013年的香港。
