好耐冇入過重慶大廈,今日專登同朋友入去食下咖喱,唔知係咪因為疫情關係,成個重慶大廈感覺都靜悄悄的,記得十幾年前去嘅時候唔係咁樣,我哋盲摸摸咁去咗一樓呢間餐廳。餐廳整潔乾淨,掛住小亮燈飾,播着印度唱歌節目,店員都是南亞裔定印裔,不過唔使驚,餐牌有齊中英文及少量圖畫,指指點點絕對成功叫餐。一點完菜佢就送咗兩塊馬沙拉脆餅,又大塊又脆帶點鹹味,仲有一碟綠色嘅醬可點,少少辣。今日我哋食咖喱羊不是咖喱雞,應該屬於紅咖喱,唔辣,香口,羊肉切粒,肉質實淨。另外叫左個土豆花椰菜,同樣係香草濃味汁煮,都係濃味菜式。食印度餐我就最鍾意佢啲烤餅,用黎點咖哩汁一流!呢度既烤餅都好唔錯!今日都試左個洋蔥烤餅,有啲啲似蔥油餅,勁多洋蔥,都可以一試!

第一次嚟到重慶大廈食 Lunch,有個唔錯嘅體驗,味道相當有水準。華達印度餐廳既員工非常有禮貌同熱情,服務態度都值得一讚。前菜係胡椒餅,香脆可口。成餐飯最為驚艷到我既就係燒春雞,春雞係用熱辣辣既鐵板盛上。雞既外層有獨有既香料味,食落去啖啖肉,份量十足。而且口感外脆內軟,肉質夠嫩滑,食完之後有令人念念不忘既魔力。另外我哋嗌左一份羊肉炒飯,同樣係份量驚人,估唔到兩個人只係嗌人兩樣主菜,最後都食唔晒要打包返屋企。炒飯粒粒分明,夠火侯,而且帶點香辣,非常香口,配埋乳酪一齊食就可以中和返個辣度。成餐飯都非常滿意,下次都會繼續黎重慶大廈「尋寶」😍

啲食飯好好味,叫咗個三人套餐份量好足食到好飽~店長店員嘅服務態度都好好,店裡面嘅人都好親切友善老闆仲比左張vip卡我,澳門都用得!(雖然嘅時期去唔到佢哋推薦嘅啤酒🍻好正,十分唔錯!!誠意推薦大家可以試下。個芝士同牛奶做嘅印度湯圓甜品都好值得一食!口感十分有趣,而且甜絲絲,外面好似有層焦糖甘,中意食甜嘢嘅人快啲黎試下~!今次食到好飽,仲「滿載而歸」,將啲飯餸打包返屋企繼續。下次可以約多啲人一齊過黎食!!

If you're looking for a place serving good authentic Indian food then look no further! This restaurant does not skimp out on the flavour, each dish is packed full of various spices and simply thinking of the smell of freshly cooked food wafting from the restaurant's kitchen is enough to make my mouth water. Dishes are portioned perfectly - not too much nor too little. Although you may be put off by the many men outside Chung King shoving leaflets for other restaurants in your face, having a meal here is worth it! The place can get quite crowded on Friday nights, considering there are only a few tables available so try to come during the afternoon or a bit earlier in the evening to ensure a good seat and for your food to be delivered to your table faster
 

The service by the young lady, in particular, is commendable as she ensures that everything for your meal is satisfactory and maintains a smile on her face despite facing countless customers asking questions and having to serve dishes, make drinks etc, all at the same time! In terms of the menu, all the favourite indian classic dishes are there - including some Hong Kong-Indian styled fusion curries that I have yet to try.  This place is packed full of locals, Hong Kong's south-east Asian community, tourists, expats and people from all around the world making for an interesting experience! 

All in all, don't be afraid to venture into Chung King mansion - a place packed full of culinary delights
Head over to Swagat and you won't regret it

這天與朋友在尖沙咀吃晚飯,查實在尖沙咀吃飯一點也不便宜,而且通街都是人,於是朋友建議到重慶大廈吃印度菜。記憶中,這是我第四次到重慶大廈,第一、二次是數年前分別興大學同學和前度男友到三樓吃咖哩,對上一次是光顧了五樓一家印度素食館,這次跟朋友到了商場內的一樓,因為友人多年前來過一次,所以質素應該不會太差。要走入重慶大廈,大家都知道著實不容易的,我們穿過了人潮,從樓梯走到商場範圍一樓,一樓商場多是商店,售賣的都是電子產品,在角落就是這餐廳。當踏入門口,已可看到餐廳內裝修雅緻,但空無一人。入門口的右手邊是水吧,轉右入內就是餐廳,只有大概五張枱,可以容納約二十人,牆上有許多鏡子,亦有一些有特色的畫和佈置。餐牌有中文、英文及印度語三種語言。印度菜最為人所熟識,當然少不了咖哩和炸物,其實印度菜在烹調的時候通常都會加入多種香料混合來調味,除了咖哩外,其他的食品都是加入許多香料,所以令味道層次非常豐富。這餐廳沒有奉上飲品的,就是連一支Mineral Water都已經十幾元,汽水也要二十元,所以我們決定點一些印度特式飲品。我的冒險精神其實不高,所以選了個鮮青檸梳打,味道清新,而且接下來要吃的都是重香料的食

朋友選擇了馬沙拉茶,店員奉上一個不銹鋼茶壺和瓷杯和砂糖,馬沙拉茶呈現微深啡色,嚐了一小口,口感很滑,沒有茶味的,相反是有多重味覺的微辛香味和肉桂香,原來印度的馬沙拉茶是由多種香料調配而成,包括肉桂、茴香子、八角、丁香等,所以喝下去茶味很淡,反而突出的是多款香料混合交織而成的辛香。

我從來都是薯仔痴,所以看到小食中有薯仔餅,於是我也忍不住點了這一道小食。印度菜中的前菜小食,多是炸物為主,例如炸芝士、炸雜菜、咖哩角等等。薯仔餅是由薯仔壓成蓉後,混合了芫茜及各種香草,製成餅狀再油炸而成。因為同樣是混了各種香料,所以很香,味道辛而不辣,而且炸很鬆化。與薯仔餅同時端上來的是兩款醬汁,分別是青色和深棕色。深棕色的味道微甜,有點像燒汁,而青色的帶點酸和辣,有點像青咖哩汁,薯仔餅配上這兩款醬汁各有特色亦各自出色。

上主菜了,鑊仔牛肉是廚師推介之一,但如果單單看中文名稱,真的不知道是甚麼的煮法和用上甚麼的香料,英文名稱比較詳細,叫 Lamb cooked with tomato & masala n a "Kadai" traditional Indian Wok。Kadai 是一種傳統的鑊仔,常見於印度菜、巴基斯坦菜、尼泊爾菜等。羊肉是瘦肉切成粒狀,一點也不肥的,已經煮至很腍,入口帶點微微羊羶味。精髓是個醬汁,紅洋蔥已經煮至軟而且吸收了香料的香味,微微的辛香而不辣,最適合用烤餅點來吃。

香辣咖哩雞的英文是 Fiery Hot Dish of Fresh Chicken and Quartered Potatoes,菜名旁還要兩隻辣椒來提醒客人這一款是特別的辣。向來吃得辣的我,當然要一試龍與鳯。這橙紅色的咖哩,不會像我國川菜般紅油上面,入口一點也不油膩,當然辣的程度亦不是太過份,遠不及四川菜中的水煮菜式,對我來說只是微辣而已。此外,相比於鑊仔羊肉,這香辣咖哩雞辣而不香,比較遜色。

與友人吃到最後,決定要一試印度的甜品。本來我們想試印式雪糕的,可惜沒有,唯有選擇這鮮奶芝士球,一來我喜歡重奶味的食物,二來是本人對芝士的鍾愛。這鮮奶芝士球,中間是兩個"芝士球",上面有花生碎,浸在杏色奶醬中。所謂的芝士球,並不是煙靱的,相反,有點像海綿的口感,中間有氣泡,整個沒有芝士味,整個球像海綿的吸收了奶醬汁。這個奶醬汁,有點像稀釋了的鍊奶,味道很甜。芝士球吸收了這些"鍊奶水"後,吃下去感覺很甜、很膩,與我想像的是兩碼子的事。

在這個晚餐中,店內都沒有其他客人,就好像包了整個餐廳用膳,可以寧靜地享受一餐晚餐,確實是一件很不錯的事。

She let me do the restaurant-picking, and I chose Swagat since it was within the mall rather than the residential blocks, and I had been to the few others which were good, but not spectacular for me to go again.

After bustling pass a few rather rude people trying to get us to their restaurants instead, we managed to find Swagat neatly tucked away amongst other food stores on the first floor.

We were one of two tables at 8pm, but slowly groups of people came in and filled the rather small restaurant.

Swagat's interiors aren't bad, clean enough compared to the other restaurants in Chung King. The menu was an impressively neat notebook-type with proper categories of food!

S chose the palak paneer ($45) (aka saag paneer i think) with the paratha ($15) (whole-wheat layered bread), and though I had my eye on the 'seafood hot pot (curry)' and the chicken tikka, I chose the strongly recommended Fish tikka ($120) with roti ($10). I asked what fish was used, but got the answer "sea fish"!!

After a while the fish tikka arrived, followed by the other dishes.The fish tikka was five enormous chunks of mackerel on a sizzling platter with onions and cabbage. As I was hungry I quickly tackled this platter, though was quite disappointed. The mackerel chunks although not overcooked, were salty (yogurt marinade) and very fishy - more spices or something would've fixed this problem I think. The lemon did little to help with the fishiness too.

My roti was like a pita, only more toasted / crispy. Not bad, but not the best I've had.

S's palak paneer (paneer cooked in spinach gravy) was a lot better. A non-spicy this curry, this is a great vegetarian option too! The paneer here were soft medium-sized squares of cheese, that were definitely not rubbery or overly-pressed. Instead, they were light and delightful to eat. The spinach sauce was not oily and had hints of indian spices that were also very enjoyable. Seasoning was done very well for this curry!

The paratha looked very similar to my roti, being made of whole-wheat flour, but was a layered one - i.e. would have a lighter soft texture rather than the crisp flat bread which roti is.

We noticed that other tables were served raita + papadums when they were seated, but we were not. I must say every Indian restaurant I've been to in HK has the custom of serving them....so I missed those spicy cracker-type breads a little!

The bill came to $209 with service, again, a first for Chung King, as other restaurants often don't add service charge...but then again this was in the 'mansion' rather than the residential blocks...!

A restaurant that is not bad, but definitely have other options within this area for similar food!
