A new yakitori joint at Graham Street, Soho. Helmed by the Michelin recommended Toritama alumni Chef Marco Lam, Torieki showcases rare parts that they source (such as 提灯 ちょうちん) and ones that are popular at his training grounds. Friend and I have been to a couple of yakitori joints the past couple of months and upon comparison we were wowed by the precision, doneness and consistency of the yakitori presented to us by Torieki. Particularly memorable ones for me were the chicken liver, gizzard skin, esophagus, wings, pork belly parsley wraps and palms. Chef Marco told us about the dedication that they put into making quality yakitori, including the time, costs and energy that they spent on sourcing the skewers that they use - something that he learned from where he was trained (thus the prices 😝) and the chicken broth that they serve us at the end of the meal used at least over 30 chicken carcasses to make. I did a quick comparison of their menu with that of Toritama and note that the price points are similar 🤓 That said, I think what sets Torieki apart is the hospitality of Chef Marco and server Ceci. They said they are more than happy for their guests to stay on till small hours for drinks. Perfect spacious location for a party with 2 counter tables, one serving 18 and the other 12. There is also a cocktail bar. Will definitely return with a bigger party!

— Can’t go wrong with a grilled onigiri! Both were equally as delicious but the soy one was my favourite. These were perfectly grilled to give it that crunchy exterior, whilst the inside was still light and fluffy. Super well seasoned and the ume one was also really aromatic with slightly floral notes.
