I was thrilled to find out that a branch of this hotpot place opened up in Kennedy Town! Have been to their CWB branch and loved the spicy soup base, so there was no question of my visiting this one as soon as I was able. As soon as we sat down, we were served with free white fongus soup--very sweet of them, and the soup was very sweet too, very gelatinous and good for your skin supposedly. One thing about this hotpot place--they do not have a huge variety of sauces to dip your food into and on

One thing about this hotpot place--they do not have a huge variety of sauces to dip your food into and only offered sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic and scallion. Which is unusual, but I suppose it speaks volumes about the restaurant's unwavering faith in the tastiness of their own soup base and ingredients. I'm usually a total nutwhen it comes to wanting a huge variety of dipping sauce but in this instance, I loved the soup based so much, I didn't miss the sauce.
We ordered a big platter of beef and lots of black fungus, mushrooms and frozen tofu (to soak up the yummy, yummy soup base). My favorite, however, was the sticky rice cake which was cut into finger-sized rectangles, deep-fried within an inch of its life which caused it to be lava hot and super melted inside, and drizzled in brown sugar syrup. Oddly this dish came out at the same time as all the other dishes, so i don't think it's considered a dessert, but it would be a fantastic dessert... Also, the deep-fried finger-sized pork strips are also AMAZING, but you need to eat those while they are hot, or else the outside breading becomes kind of soggy and the pork gets a little dry on the inside.
PS: I drank some of the soup base, it was that good. I think it's a big no-no in serious hotpot circles to drink the soup base, because it's probably super unhealthy and oily and all that sort of thing, but sometimes you just can't help it because the awesome smell of the soup just overrides some critical part of your brain and hypnotizes you into wanting to drink the soup...and it was heavenly.

As the restaurant only opened about a month ago, there's a general 20% off discount going on. Not sure how long this is going to last. Also, they gave out coupons at the end of the meal which can be used till end of July, so watch out for those.
