一開頭見到呢間舖頭裝修都幾好,環境氣氛都不錯,但係舖頭嘅待應唔知係咪全部更年期到,其實眼見都係得兩個女人,當下單嘅時候,睇住menu嗌刺身,之後話無呢條魚,唔係seasonal ,咁我問有乜係seasonal,佢就話:下 個menu入面有果d囉,,我同兩位友人即刻呆咗,,問非所答,之後都算啦,,之後朋友諗住俾一段片我睇,音樂只播放了5秒都沒有,之後其中一位更年期侍應就即刻話:細聲啲呀唔該。。。 嘩 乜居酒屋唔俾人講嘢嘅咩,唔講以為入咗圖書館或者自修室。其實全場都係得嗰幾個客。成個感覺真係超差。講真大家望吓Menu啲價錢都唔係平呀,咁嘅價錢咁嘅服務,我自己喺屋企係omakase到會都冇咁嬲!大家記得真係入呢間餐廳前 電話記得或靜音入去啊,如果唔係分分鐘下一個比人話係你哋呀!哈。。。

第三道是鮑魚順菜湯,服務生又拿來了另一款清酒,每款清酒杯都是很有特色,有些清酒香味濃,就會用高身近似白酒杯。

下一道菜是鱧卷天婦羅,不得不說他們的天婦羅真的做得很好,薄薄的一層粉,配以用魚造成的卷物,真的是色香味具全。

之後是太刀魚明太子燒跟茄士海老,魚燒得剛剛好,明太子令魚味昇華。我本來是不吃茄子的,但這個茄子好吃到令我整個吃掉了,再配合特選清酒,無得頂。

最後是帆立貝蔥味噌燒飯團,這個燒飯團比我在日本吃過的還要做得好。

這餐飯一共飲了七款清酒,服務生詳細解說每一款清酒啲特色,真的上了一堂清酒課。下次一定再來。

The food was good, but we felt neglected the whole night and the food was brought out over TWO HOURS. It was extremely expensive and absolutely not worth that cost. Staff seemed like typical low class waiters with bad English, not what you’d expect given the price tag.

朋友話帶我去好地方,原本不太鍾意飲清酒嘅我,經過今晚的體驗,完全改觀😋😋哩度店內面積雖然唔太大,但感覺好舒服,所有食物都係即叫即整,有啤酒、梅酒、各式各樣嘅清酒,店員會好細心介紹,無論食物,酒,如何配搭,店員都耐心解答。我自己本身唔太鍾意食明太子,但一款粟米明太子令我改觀不少,好味😍而刺身亦相當新鮮,而因為疫情無得去日本,哩度確實可以一解思念日本之苦🤣🤣下次一定會再嚟,🤣🤣🤣因為我仲有好多清酒未試😝

service 好好,staff 值得表揚!女服務員專業、細心、有耐性,非常 professional! 之後男的服務員亦有禮貌。地方偏細,常聽到隔離枱客人談話內容。但,日本廚師非常 innovative , 酒與菜味道配得非常好!I can tell they are really impressive ! Sake 好似調味料,好神奇!!!Sake set dinner with wine pairing ,價錢不到$2000 ,可以一試。

Summary: Intimate and inviting, Sake Beya Masu (SBM) combines a great sake spot with food that’s a bit adventurous but with very Japanese sensibilities. A bit cozy and pricey, it’s perfect for small celebrations or must-impress dates. On a February 14th where I refused to book any restaurants until the last minute, SBM was available and very accommodating when I called the day before. Situated just off Star Street on Sun Street, it’s low-key and a bit hidden. Inside, it’s reminiscent of a tiny dive bar in Tokyo, with low but warm lighting, a 4-seat bar and enough table seating for maybe 10 more. The sake selection is as excellent as you’d imagine for a place named “Sake Bar”, with maybe eight selections by the glass and many more by bottle. I was particularly impressed with their selection (around eight as well I think?) of very good 300 ml bottles, which is not typical. The staff is also knowledgeable and very open to sake questions so definitely try some if you go.

They emphasize their omakase meals with a HKD700 food-only course, as well as sake pairing courses at HKD1000 and HKD1500. They require 2 days advance notice for omakase however, so we were “stuck” with a la carte. 

We ordered a bunch of things to try and I have to say with the exception of the seaweed salad, which was extremely okay, I think everything we tried was a unique experience. Here’s what we had:

-Wonderful homemade pickles – my barometer for good Japanese restaurants (sue me I like sour stuff). Crunchy and not overly-vinegared, these are terrific with sake.

Sorry it’s been a while since I started this review, so I don’t remember much. All you need to take away from this is; the ambience is romantic and/or mysterious; the sake selection is impressive and affordable; and the food is a bit pricey, but unique and memorable. Excellent for special occasions or dates. Don’t bring more than 6 (8 MAX) people though.

However, I did not receive any call all the way through to the night before the booking. I therefore gave them a call, and they said I did not make any booking. I said that is impossible since I called two months ago and booked, to which they said "If you have booked, we would most definitely have a record of it.", which implied that I was lying?! This kind of attitude is completely unacceptable and uncalled for...

這店位於日街,位置較為偏僻,自成一角。店內地方不大,只有兩張四方台,六張吧枱,而上一層則有一間大房及私人派對,可容納約16人。

Tucked away at an alley in Sun Street, the restaurant was small but elegant. It had a table for 6, a table for 4 plus about 5-6 bar chairs. We were told that a private function room for a maximum of 16 persons was also available.

這裏其實並不是一般居酒屋。主要提供清酒配對的懷石料理。師傅拍板的晚餐可以不用預訂,但若要有清酒配對的晚餐則要兩日之前預訂。據知廚師是從九州來的。

飲品方面,除了一款「越前」啤酒之外便只有清酒。清酒選擇則令人覺得花多眼亂,幸好友善的店員對店方提供的清酒和食物非常暸解,驚他介紹的都非常給我們的心意。

我們當晚工作後實在太累,所以其實沒有心情吃太精緻和需要用心用神進食的料理。我們於是決定不點廚師發板或任何套餐,基本上跟隨店員的推介。

After having a glance at the menu, I realized that this was not a normal izakaya where you order late night beer & skewers. In fact, it specialized in sake pairing. Two days advance booking is required for sake pairing dinner. But for the Omakase dinner without sake pairing ($700), there is no need to book in advance. We were told that the Japanese chef is from Kyushu.

There was nothing but sake (good quality ones) on the drinks list. We were told there was one type of premium bottled beer.
We decided to go for a la carte.
The friendly manageress was very knowledgable with sake and very familiar with what they were serving and the appropriate sake to go with the food. So we basically followed her recommendations.

聽說是時令。火灼之後香味濃郁,肉質爽口彈牙,剛好配襯我們的清酒「花春」。一口太刀魚,一口花春,果然是相得益彰。很讚。

The grilled tachiuo sashimi was one of the top recommendations. Indeed, it was excellent. Grilling the tachiuo really brought out the lovely aroma of the fish oil. It was perfect with the bottle of sake, "Hana Haru(?") 花春, again recommended by the manageress.

味道與秋刀魚其實很相似,所以同樣適合點薑茸和濃味醬油進食。

We also had sardine sashimi. Both the apperance and taste was similar to sanma sashimi. Don't forget to add ginger and dip it in the dark shoyu.

燒得相當出色的一道菜。魚油脂香濃郁之餘有山椒來醒味,不會覺得油膩,讚。

Barramundi grilled with raw sansho: This had a lot of fish oil, even more than the tachiuo. The sansho gave it a bit of a sting to neutralize any oiliness. One of my colleagues was extremely impressed by this dish.

這道菜不太記得名字。只記得是白身魚包著菌類和紫鬚葉, 同樣美味。

I couldn't really remember the name of the dish below. Only that it was some type of fungi wrapping a type of white bodied fish and shiso leave. Again, this very delicate and delicious.

粟米和炸明太子(前)與四件(カマス) 白身魚卷著小松菜和白子(後)的配搭亦很新鮮和協調。
這和魷魚并烏魚子概念上都是一陰一陽的配搭,不但精緻,口感和味道都很豐富。

(Back) Kamasu with Shirako and komatsuba, served with soramame.
(Front) Deep fried sweet corn and mentaigo.
These two dishes, and the dish shown at the photo below, i.e. Ika with karasumi, all seemed to have embodied the concept of yin & yang. Those all had light flavoured ingredients mixed with strong flavoured ingredients. There was also great contrast between the texture of the ingredients. I like the Ika with karasumi in particular as it was great with sake.

同事亦點了一客明太子汁燒牛舌,他們覺得牛肉味很鮮,口感亦佳。

My colleagues ordered a grilled ox tongue with mentaigo sauce. They really enjoyed it.

最後點了北寄貝炒飯。北寄貝刺身壽司大家都吃得多,但用作炒飯還是第一次。飯質有點像釜飯,而北寄貝即使加了熱仍然充滿了彈性而又不會過韌。

Finally,a bit of carbs to fill us up. We ordered hokkigai (sakhalin surf clam) fried rice. The rice were more like steamed rice mixed with a bit of shoyu and mirin. I've never had cooked surf clam before. I thought the surf clam would probably be a bit tough after being heated. Fortuantely, it wasn't at all. The combination was pretty good.

埋單每人$1,000,連兩枝清酒。雖然這裡不是屬於宵夜裹腹的地方,但我都有七至八分飽。食物精緻美味,環境舒適優雅,店員殷勤有禮,我們都吃得很滿意。絕對值得一試。

The bill came down to $1,000 per head including two bottles of good quality sake. Highly recommended if you enjoy the delicate cuisines.
