Spanish fine dining restaurant by Chef Antonio Oviedo👨🏻‍🍳 every dish was divine🫶🏻 tuna belly was very buttery. Deep ocean flavour in espardenya 🤩 first time trying percebes, extremely rare and hard to harvest, tasted a bit like geoduck. socarrat could be treated as the essence of a paella. but i think the bomba rice could be a lil bit more compacted. Texture of venison was a bit chewy yet the sweetness of the potato balanced well with the strong & earthy flavor in venison. Desserts were kinda refreshing, and it’s very interesting to serve the chocolate with bread soaked in their signature olive oil🤣 instax film photos with extra chocolate caramel cake will be provided if you’re coming for celebrations!

冇諗過今日竟然可以食到狗爪螺!畢竟狗爪螺無論係香港定係西班牙都屬於極矜貴食材‼️今日有福氣了😋 不愧被譽為來自地獄的海鮮!這份鮮甜味不是蓋的,用上蒜頭和甜椒粉做汁,用微辣襯托濃濃的鮮香,至於肉質,肥美的爪子部份口感也太像龍蝦了吧❤️太多幸福了

Draw on his Spanish heritage, the menu highlights authentic Spanish ingredients with modern twists and very aggressive flavors (some might find them a bit too salty but I feel okay), dishes are fine and tasty but all leaning towards a similar flavor profile. The part impressed us the most is the unique artistic tableware, elevating the presentation to a new height. It’s very nice of them to introduce the tableware suppliers in their menu.

One of Chef’s homage to his heritage is introducing Candeal to HK customers. A common bread in Spain made with Candeal wheat creating incredibly crispy crust but soft bread inside. It’s similar to Chinese crispy bun but a denser sponge within.

Espardenya is not the most common seafood on the menu, belongs to sea cucumber family coming from Spain. It has a similar texture as razor clams but less chewy. It also carries deeper ocean flavor. Served with peas and a rich sauce made with Spanish blood sausage.

Percebes, known as Goose neck barnacle, look like little animal paws. It’s a rare seafood with only very little meat from each piece, hence is served as a complement to the stone sea bass and it tasted a bit like clam.

Worst experiences in hk ever! So we booked for three but they messed up the booking only with two. A friend of mine was late for 30mims and there was no extra chair, We kindly asked them if they could help check with the two ppl at the table to switch as the table is for four. But they refused. The whole time we were very calm and tried to find solutions but the chef Antonio called us RUDE which was personal attack and insult.After being called RUDE, it destroyed all our mood to continue the foo

So we decided to offer to pay the food we consumed , but they refused to accept and forced us to either finish the menu or pay the full price even for the dishes that we didn’t consumed at all.
we had to call the police. The chef Antonio and the manager Anton didn’t do an inch of compromise. We paid 5000+ and left being hungry and angry.

🌈erizo - sea urchin flan w/ cold soup and sliced grapes, so refreshing and look at the rainbow droplets!!

🦑chipirones - in-season baby squid served w/ black rice and paired w/ smoked peas that enhances the overall flavor

🐟ventresca - atlantic bluefin tuna with smoked eggplant topped w/ ossetra caviar is an unexpected bite close to perfection, definitely a ⭐️

🐠merluza con salsa verde - hake fish w/ parsley, white wine sauce- highlight of this dish was definitely the percebes (goose barnacles see pic in dark grey color) which gives the dish a briny/sweet taste

🥩txuleta - aged beef from Galicia with grinch beef sauz, beautifully cooked rib eye!

Pleasantly surprised. Great execution and flavours. Definitely a different level from casual eats at 22Ships. Sat comfortably at the marble bar and watched the chefs cook & plate w precision. Normally I’m not a big fan of Hake in western cuisine but they did so well w the crispy skin and nicely flavoured percebes sauce. The Spanish red prawn w crispy rice was a new take on the paella & Cantonese clay pot rice was ingenious. We rarely get to try dairy cow meat, but it was unexpectedly tender an

Loved 22 Ships, very excited to try Chef Antonio Oviedo’s new baby- Agora for dinner. Looked up address in OpenRice- nearly went to another eatery with the same name.Not a big restaurant. Counter seating 8, 2 tables of 4; 1 private Room.2 tasting menus (9 courses for $1,288 pp and 12 courses for $1,688). Went for the latter, but not the 5 glasses wine pairing for HK$850).Wine list ok. Loved 22 Ships, very excited to try Chef Antonio Oviedo’s new baby- Agora for dinner.
Looked up address in OpenRice- nearly went to another eatery with the same name.
Not a big restaurant. Counter seating 8, 2 tables of 4; 1 private Room.

2 tasting menus (9 courses for $1,288 pp and 12 courses for $1,688). Went for the latter, but not the 5 glasses wine pairing for HK$850).
Wine list ok. Went for a glass of Spanish Chardonnay.

Here’s what we had.
Chef came and presented us with the traditional Spanish Candeal bread, known for its dense white middle and thin crust. Chef went on to introduce the restaurant's own extra virgin olive oil that came from the mountainous area of Malaga, the ancient Verdial olive trees in particular, with green, fruity olives. Loved the bread: crunchy on the outside; silky and tender inside.

Selection of heirloom tomatoes with Mandarin served with Green Olive Gazpachuelo (seafood broth with mayonnaise). Very succulent and refreshing.

Tuna Belly marinated in garum (fermented fish sauce) on a bed of smoked aubergine,
topped with Ossetra caviar. Very flavorful.

Mar y Muntanya (sea and mountain): a Catalan dish combining ingredients from the mountains (ie meat/sausage) with ingredients from the sea (typically fish/seafood). Here, we had Sea Cucumber and blood sausage. The sea cucumber resembled nothing like the Chinese ones. Only the exterior muscles of the Sea cucumber were used. Tasted rather like razor clams. Teardrops Peas on the side.

Hake from Basque Country, which tasted similar to cod: firm and meaty, with a slightly sweeter taste. The bits on top were gooseneck barnacle (鬼爪/龜足) from Galicia, being crustaceans that cling to rocks in places that have a strong crashing surf. Not particularly attractive looking; but they are considered a rare delicacy in Spain. PickyEater had seen them being sold in the Saikung wet market before. They tasted like a mix of lobster and clam, quite sweet. Green sauce on the side was made with garlic, parsley, and green tomatoes.

Large Carabinero red prawn on a bed of paella rice with Socarrat (飯焦), served with a garlic mayonnaise sauce. Probably one of the best prawn paella I have tried: crispy but not too crunchy on the outside; firm but soft on the inside.

2 pieces of Txuleta, ie beef produced from older, chubbier cows that have a higher fat content and much more marbling. Chef explained that their beef was generally 8-12 years old; aged 45-60 days. He recommended we took ours medium rare (otherwise would be too chewy). My loin of beef lightly sprinkled with sea salt, had a distinct beefy and intense flavour, with very tender texture. Old definitely does not mean tough. On the side: Garlic cream, morel mushroom, and choricero chili pepper– very sweet.

First dessert:
Nectarine Meringue in horchata (soup made with tiger nuts) with marigold oil. Horchata tasted like soya milk with a hint of coconut.
Second dessert: Strawberry foam on White Chocolate IceCream and Vanilla.

To finish off: echoing our beginning- a small piece of bread soaked in the same rich olive oil. Plus a green chocolate olive.

In summary: extraordinary Spanish gastronomic experience. Felt like we were in Spain the moment we walked in. Loved the decor, plating and service. Chef did an excellent job in presenting us with iconic Spanish ingredients with a creative flair.

I rarely write bad reviews about a restaurants. Agora was a very disappointing and demeaning experience. Hence the reason that prompted me write this review. Hopefully other customers are alerted before visiting this restaurant.1.) If you are looking for a place where they serve tasteful food that reflects what you paid for then i can tell you that maybe it is not a really good choice. Agora was a very disappointing and demeaning experience. Hence the reason that prompted me write this review. Hopefully other customers are alerted before visiting this restaurant.

1.) If you are looking for a place where they serve tasteful food that reflects what you paid for then i can tell you that maybe it is not a really good choice. The food quality is not as good as expected when it costs HKD 1,688 or HKD1,288 per meal. Especially the steak and the lobster, both were hard to swallow. The steak was chewy and tough. The lobster was way too salty and dry which didn’t taste fresh at all. The other food did taste normal.

2.) If u are looking for flexibility, they dont accommodate. They only serve two fixed menus. The entire table needs to pick the same menu.
For example: I couldn’t order $1,288 menu after my friends ordered $1,688 menu. They indicated the entire party must have the same menu. Secondly it surprised me when I was late due to work and my friends had already started the courses, they wouldn't serve me the courses that have been served to the others.

It was my friend’s birthday and all three of them arrived and I couldn’t make it on time due to work. Agora told me it was out of kindness to serve me since I showed up late and that I should thank them to let me in. I paid full price eventhough i had missing courses. I found this unreasonable and the attitude was insulting as if they were pitying me.

3) If you are looking for a nice place to celebrate for special occasion where you can take good pictures, then it might not be a good choice. At the price they are charging, there are certainly better choices with higher quality food, service and environment.

4.) If you are looking for a good wine pairing meal, there is no surprise at all. Some of the wine do not actually match with the taste of the food they were paired up with. Also, they charge $850 addition for 5 wine pairing which is same as hotel or Michelin restaurant grade and you would expect it should be an authentic and exceptional experience with a master sommelier giving you details of each wine and food pairing.

5.) If you are looking for a reasonable response time for booking enquiry, please expect it might take some days. For example : I sent the enquiry on 11 Jun 2022, they replied me on 14 Jun 2022.

Please also note that they will charge 5% of the deposit you paid as booking service charge which is non-refundable. Their cancelation term is 72 hours. They require a deposit of $690 + 5% booking fee. For example: for 4 people booking, you have to pay $2,898 in advance. $138 is for booking service charge and $2,760 can be used to pay towards the bill.

Honestly, if the food was delicious and environment is really nice then I would be willing to pay the cost.

So my advice to everybody would be, unless you are sure all parties can attend on the date and the booking time, with the criteria beforehand that everyone would love the same course set menu, go ahead. They serve 10 courses with 3 courses are dessert related. I won’t say they serve Spanish food, but rather a fusion kind of restaurant. For the money I paid, I might rather go for Japanese omasake dinner or other hotel restaurant.

我真的很少會給餐廳劣評。但係Agora呢間餐廳真係令我好失望。呢個經驗令我想寫一啲溫馨提示俾嗰啲將會去呢間餐廳嘅人作參考之用。

1.)如果你想搵一個地方可以有好好食嘅菜式而食物質素係對得住個價錢嘅話,呢間餐廳未必係一個好好嘅選擇。因為佢哋嘅食物完全冇預期中咁好食, 而每個人係需要俾HKD1,688或HKD1,288一個餐。尤其是佢哋嘅牛扒同埋龍蝦。牛扒異常地有筋,一路食一路要吐番啲渣出嚟。而且龍蝦係非常之鹹同乾。從來未食過西餐廳會有覺得食緊鹹魚龍蝦嘅感覺。其他食物味道一般或者可以叫正常。

2.)如果你想有靈活性嘅話,呢間餐廳一定唔係好選擇。呢度係得兩個餐。當其中一個人選擇左其中一個餐,其他人就要叫埋同一個餐啦。打個比喻:我就算細食啲,食唔晒啲嘢,想叫$1,288嗰個餐,佢哋係唔容許我叫。我哋四個人一定要叫同一個餐。同埋最令我驚訝嘅嘢,就係當我因為工作遲到左,係我嚟之前佢哋食嘅菜式我係冇得食番㗎啦。嗰日係我好朋友嘅生日,其他三個人已經到咗。我唔能夠準時到,佢哋話係佢哋嘅仁慈,所以先比我同我啲朋友一齊食飯。我真係「非常感謝」呢間餐廳俾我入去同我啲朋友食飯,要俾一個正價嘅價錢去食一個少咗幾道菜嘅餐。我真係覺得自己「好幸運」啦!!!

3.)如果你想搵一間好靚嘅餐廳又可以打卡又可以影靚相嘅話,呢度都可能唔係一個好好嘅選擇。因為真係裝修一般囉。

4.)如果你想要好嘅wine pairing,呢度唔會俾到你驚喜囉。有幾杯酒同啲餸菜啲味都唔夾嘅。

5.)如果當你想去查詢點樣book位或者想book位嘅時候,請你地準備預咗可能要等幾日。我6月11號去查詢29號有冇位,佢哋6月14號先覆我。

而且請你地注意佢哋會係你哋俾嘅訂金裏面,收取5%作為佢哋訂位費,而且係唔會俾返你㗎。打個比喻:訂四個人嘅位,就要俾$2,898。有$138係收咗做訂位費。有$2,670可以用番嚟俾張單嘅。老實講:如果間餐廳嘅嘢食真係好好食,而且個環境都非常之好嘅話,我真係覺得值得去俾。但係呢間餐廳唔會令我覺得值得去俾呢個訂位費囉。
