Undeniably one of the hardest restaurants to book in town. Thanks to my friend who secured a booking (honestly I lost the will to try), excited to try their highly acclaimed signature roasted chicken. Wine lovers would die for their extensive wine collection at reasonable price. Of course, their over the top wine display set as the insta-backdrop which need no further intro. It’s the French fine dining version of 蔥油撈麵 😂 Angel hair is so fine and mixed really well with the caviar, the kombu and white truffle oil brings out the savory umami that flavor the entire dish. Amazing dish and I love it.

And then it’s the chicken time. Steamed then fridge before roasting. The chicken is golden and glossy, succulent tender meat, absolutely nailed it. But the skin is not as crispy as I’d expect, much fat still stick to the skin and not completely detached when roasting. But flavor-wise, it’s absolutely bang on! So incredibly deep in flavor, so well marinated and seasoned, it doesn’t need any sauce or jus, the flavor is already sooo rich within the meat, that’s very impressive. The flavor then also carried over to the Pilaf rice which is also incredibly tasty full of chicken aroma.

All dishes are just served warm but not hot, nothing comes out with hot steam (the sourdough included..) something the kitchen may need to look into. Commendable to the staff who kindly offer to reheat our chicken and rice halfway though. The menu is very similar to Louise, so it’s hard not to compare. But overall, Louise triumphs in both food and service. So was it worth the effort to book? Not really unless you’re here for the wine.

Batard玻璃酒櫃打卡一流,燒雞做得頗出色,而且酒選擇多,比零售價貴出少許,但值得一試。這次選了一枝Domaine Michel Bouzereau的Meursault Perrieres,選這片田都是因為名氣,而酒莊我不太熟悉,大概也是年輕莊主繼承家族酒莊這類老掉牙的故事。聽聞現在已經是Meursault的新星,當時價錢一千出頭,於整餐飯的數小時表現得相當穩定,而且不斷變化亦沒走下坡的跡象,實屬難得。

For example, if you have a specific date you wanna book for August, you would have to call the restaurant at the end of May, and check with them the exact date in June that they will accept reservations for the whole of August. All vacancies for the entire month would usually be full within a day! Alternatively, you could try your luck on the w

Their 5-course lunch set, which is only available from Thursday to Sunday, is a good value for money. I loved the flavors of their sauces.

🍗Batard’s Signature Roast Chicken
Batard is widely acclaimed to be one of the Top 3 restaurants along with Louise and Belon for roast chicken. The dish did not disappoint. They used locally farmed three yellow chicken from Yuen Long. Chef Julien, Laloum and Vicky Cheng from Odette, Louise and Vea once did a blind experiment comparing different Chicken breeds from local and French farms, and it was a lopsided victory for locally farmed three yellow chicken. Batard’s chicken was bribedwith malt sugar, salted water and many herbs. They first steam the chicken before roasting it to retain maximum moistness and juice.

🦐Raviolo, Squid, Crustacean Sauce
The raviolo itself was not so-so. The skin could be more al dente. The inside was stuffed with squid paste. However, the crustacean sauce was such a wow-factor! It was amazingly rich and luscious.

🥩Beef Tartare Cannelloni
Loved the cigar-like presentation. The cannelloni was very crispy on the outside, and was stuffed with beef tartare. The slight hint of mustard and finely chopped chives gave the dish an extra punch.

🍄Morel Farci, Buckwheat, Madiera Sauce (supplement $130)
I have always wanted the try morels, given it’s such a fine ingredient in French cooking. The Farci contained chicken liver and buckwheat. Together with the earthy flavors from the morels, and the sweet and complex fragrance from the Madiera, the dish was a umami bomb.

🥚Slow Poached Organic Egg with Smoked Haddock
I had little expectations from this dish given that slow poaching eggs aren’t that difficult to master with a slow cooker. However, I was impressed with the smoked haddock foam. Haddock is a good selection of fish with its mildly sweet taste, so that the dish would not be overpoweringly fishy.

🍚 Warm Pilaf Rice
The rice was a heaven for carb lovers like me. It was cooked to al dente with chicken oil and lemongrass — very very flavorful.

🐚Freshly Baked Madeleines
The lemon-flavored Madeleines were served warm. They were crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The slight tanginess of lemon flavors rounded up the meal perfectly.

🍚 Warm Pilaf Rice
The rice was a heaven for carb lovers like me. It was cooked to al dente with chicken oil and lemongrass — very very flavorful.

有點像海南雞飯的感覺
原隻烤雞配暖暖的香料雞油飯
上菜時覺得分量比想象中偏小
但食嗮頭盤再食都幾飽 適合2-4人分享
靈感來自傳統的廣東燒雞
用上本地三黃雞加香茅 薑 蒜頭醃製
原隻放入鹽水中浸煮半天 隔水蒸數分鐘
再以高溫烤至皮脆肉嫩
而剩低嘅雞油雞汁就用嚟煮飯
雞烤得外皮香脆 肉質嫩滑香濃 油而不膩
連雞胸肉質都唔柴 但個人覺得略為鹹咗少少🤏🏻
配上吸滿雞油的米飯 油飯乾身飽滿 香味四溢

喜歡枱與枱之間的距離比較遠 坐滿人都不會太嘈
上菜速度也非常快 基本上中間沒有喘息的時間
如果可以放慢一點 每道菜之間可以比人傾下計
或者我都會考慮試試紅酒

* Their services were kind of disappointing as well, basically just rushing us to finish up the dishes 🥲


* One funny thing is that they bring out a whole roast chicken for people to take pics (2ppl can only enjoy half), at the same time showing signs of annoyance when we just took pic for like ten seconds, I mean, what’s the point then😅🤔


* Btw the level of cleanliness of the washroom is like being in an industrial building🫣 A bit shocked, assuming the whole customer experience shd be being well taken care of…

2022年第一家吃到最开心的餐厅 要好好来点评一下2个月前约到的weekend lunch 500块一个人的set menu有5 course 基本上我想吃的都在所以觉得比晚饭dai进门是一个wine shop的样子有好多酒因为小伙伴不喝所以逛了一圈回来点wine by glass 让小哥哥推荐一款dry店的red试了两种果断选了图二然后发现要650块一杯 奢侈了一下成为长这么大自己付钱喝过的酒最贵 是法国一个小酒庄mouton的2010年产酒 口感干但不涩甚得我心菜最爱beef tart cannelloni 好好好好次 生牛肉很鲜 口感很脆 另外两个starter没什么特别 main烤鸡两个人有半只分量很够 鸡很嫩很香我也喜欢啊其实忘了说它的面包 sourdough切很厚片里面很软外皮脆我也很爱 太饿吃了两大块很推荐的一家 环境也很好 想过段时间再来吃晚饭lol

我好同意呢度係比鐘意飲酒既人來的, 因為唔飲酒的話,成個體驗冇值咁貴。我同朋友叫了個set lunch for 2 再 a la carte叫左個Japanese fruit tomato tart。

Set lunch 有兩樣signature. Beef tartare cannelloni 真心好食,似食緊tuna, 個mustard source 好夾不會太搶味,個卷好脆,配埋啖紅酒係正既。另一個signature係佢既roasted chicken, 個賣相好靚,色水冇得彈,非常打卡able。 用元朗的三黃雞,雞皮唇齒留香,肉都很嫩滑。但我一直以為佢係脆皮,但原來唔係,成塊都係軟林林,唔知係咪淨係我果日係咁。

另外有個poached egg with smoked haddock, 成個香氣幾濃郁,不錯。至於個Riviolo, 個汁好濃蝦味,但個餃子本身非常普通。

成餐飯最impressive既係個tomato tart, 終於知點解咁多人讚。個蕃茄味濃到衝擊你味蕾,配burrata冇得輸,酥皮極之香脆,如果加多少少basil 我就更鍾意。但a la carte 係$280/件, 以呢個size其實係非常之貴。如果唔係用飲下靚酒黎包裝成個用餐體驗,真係幾難justify 呢個價。

最後食三粒 lemon madeleines, 熱辣辣,表面微微脆,咬開好鬆軟充滿檸檬清香, 係想像到的美味。

氣氛同服務整體都很不錯, 張台係比較遠,坐滿人都唔會覺得嘈。食下飲下,唔覺唔覺就三個幾鐘

我會形容為「法式海南雞飯」
用上本地雞加香茅、薑、蒜頭醃製,先蒸10分鐘後,放入雪櫃令雞皮收乾水份,再放入焗爐至皮脆肉嫩

而剩低嘅雞油、雞汁就用嚟煮飯,油飯乾身飽滿、香味四溢

曾經嘗試預約半年,終於等到政府禁止晚市才有機會訂到下午三點場。除咗為了吃馳名雞飯而來,還有這裏的儲存名酒空間,必須打卡!Beef tartar roll, 春卷皮超級鬆脆,和鮮嫩的生牛肉刺身好夾。Tomato tart 酥皮鬆軟,蕃茄碎非常refreshing重點雞飯,雞皮香脆,不吃雞皮的朋友都大贊,雞飯好香雞油味,所以只有很少份量,但和Juicy的雞肉互相呼應牛扒比起以上菜式就相對失色,雖然我哋點嘅係medium Rare,但還是有點乾。甜品就一般般了但人均消費$500左右(不計飲酒)非常性價比高的好選擇

我個人會形容佢為一間酒精博物館多過為一間餐廳,對喜歡飲酒嘅朋友間餐廳絕對係一個福音,因為佢唔會Mark Up 過高,而且酒類都10分齊全,樓底高,舒服但係若然要評論佢嘅食物我只能夠話係中規中矩、千萬不要過高期望,咁樣如果你食起嚟配左一支你鍾意飲嘅wine 效果會10分好佢其中一款名菜就係燒雞,呢款燒雞絕對要同Louise , Neighborhood , Belon 呢幾間燒雞名牌比較一下,我個人覺得Louise 絕對係派手指尾數上黎第一位,過千蚊一隻雞,沒有什麼特別只是脆皮、價錢不菲,我個人覺得呢間燒雞會稍為好食一啲,這個純粹個人意見請自己比較下我反而覺得成餐飯最有驚喜就係佢個配菜豆苗,原來豆苗用牛油炒味道是這麼配的
