I was walking at Central when two nice girls gave me a Big Fernand menu. I asked them what was it and they kindly explain to me that it was a french burger restaurant located in ifc mall. They also told me that if I come with this menu into the restaurant, I will enjoy free fries.Then the day after, my boyfriend and I decided to go to try our very first French burgers.We went there for the lunch time. Then the day after, my boyfriend and I decided to go to try our very first French burgers.
We went there for the lunch time. There was people queuing up but still some seats available.

The waitress outside kindly explain the menu to us, and recommended to try the Bartholome burger(115HKD). My boyfriend had this one, it is a beef burger, incredibly juicy and crispy in the same tine thanks to the bacon inside. the bun is soft and meat perfectly cooked. (You can chose the temperature of your meat). My Boyfriend was very happy.

I really wanted to try the veggie one as they are rare in Hong Kong, and I was also very satisfied. The veggie one comes with mushroom pattie, sun dried tomatoes and caramelized onions for 100HKD.

We both take fries as there was a discount, and the seasonning was amazing, never try this kind of fries before, we both really liked the taste.

I just ordered water, my boyfriend take the Goji Berry juice.

We will come back for sure to try other burgers, and if you haen't try yet, I highly recommend to stop by

又是一個吃漢堡包的晚上。近期漢堡包熱潮席捲全球,美式、英式、日式及澳洲,就連法國人也要來賣漢堡包,確實為新鮮事一樁。加上吹著"法國五月"風,今夜就到位於 ifc 的 "Big Fernand" ,試一下這個挾著法國旗的漢堡包。老遠已看到奪目大招牌,門面寬敞,環境明亮,自助快餐模式,開放式廚房,店員形象醒目,感覺悠閒舒爽。晚上八時多,客人不多。但步入店內,感覺有點不安,地面是黏黏的,垃圾亦不少,有欠衛生。好不容易選擇了靠牆位置坐下,枱面雖然已收妥之前客人的食物,但仍留下不少食物碎屑,算吧! 自助模式,自行清理。坐了一會,天花冷氣囗滴水。算吧!轉枱。看著餐牌,共六款漢堡,分別有牛肉、雞肉及羊肉,其中一款為素食客人而設的,大磨菇漢堡,全部冠以"法蘭西"名字。可單點或套餐組合,點了牛肉漢堡套餐及小牛肉漢堡套餐,配著薯條及招牌飲料,自家製樽庄Lemonade。㸃餐後,店員隨後把食物送上。有點失望的是,餐廳竟然沒有冰粒供應,要知道,加了冰的Lemonade與沒有冰的是完全兩碼子的事,更何況那樽Lemonade ,雖然置於雪櫃內,但仍然保留著室温狀態。雖然味道酸甜適中,但還是要把她扣點分。"Le B

"Le Bartholome"牛肉漢堡,打開包裝紙,賣相十分整齊,沒有肆意橫飛的新鮮蔬菜,換上幼細的香葱及碎切焦糖洋蔥,配著香脆煙肉,溶化的芝士混著秘製燒烤醬汁。一口咬下,飽身鬆軟香口,佈滿芝麻,牛肉多汁嫩滑,整體味道十分滋味。
"Le Victor"小牛肉漢堡,材料比較簡單,配著藍芝士、焦糖洋蔥及香茜混著甜口醬汁。小牛肉口感相當鬆化,夾著鹹口郁香藍芝士與甜口醬汁之間,口感新鮮美味,層次分明。

還有要説的,就是自家製薯條,上桌時,薯條於盒內已軟弱乏力的墜下,顏色依舊金黃,但香脆欠奉,説實話,味道的確不錯,面對這個賣相不揚的薯條,我們也把她吃過清光。

欣賞著"Big Fernand"把大美國形象的漢堡包轉形為帶著法式優雅的漢堡,用心經營是無可置疑,但下次可否給我泡製一客熱辣香脆的金黃薯條,以及一杯冰涼可口的Lemonade 。

Quick lunch yesterday where I was advised by the staff to taste the bartholome! Juicy and very tasty burger even though the price is a bit high $135. In terms of taste, it's really different from usual burgers we can have in other concepts, the cheese and the oinions bring a very interesting sweat and sour taste, french burger?. I also tested their Home Made fries, at first, they looked weird. a bit dark compared to usual fries but very yummy. Small pieces sometimes but they explained it was becauce they cut it everyday in their machine and they cannot control their lengh, fair enough. As for the drinks, I took a coke but I shall come back to test their limonades.
Team was very nice, many French people smily and very cheerfull.
Great place, nice team and amazing burgers.

I ordered the Le Bartholomé (medium rare) with fries and lemonade which costs $175. I figured that the burger is going to taste awesome with this price.

When I got my plate, some of the fries looked burnt, I tried them right away and it was surprisingly soggy. So I decided to go to my burger, the bun-patty ratio is pretty horrible, you have to lift the bun to see the patty, bacons, cheese and the herbs. The taste itself is unbelievably sweet and overwhelming, I reckon that it came from the bbq sauce, I CANNOT taste the meat at all.

There are tons of area for improvement
1. Larger patty 
2. Easy on the sauce
3. Better bun-patty ratio
4. Better Fries

I probably won't return and stick with butchers club, they have way better burger and fries.

混有蔥洋和甜青瓜的醬汁很棒,拌上一小球熱熔芝士,可以想像一大餅芝士變軟後被店員用刀刮下再覆蓋在包內的心動畫面,像豆腐一樣軟綿綿的口感非常過癮。煙肉充分吸收了醬汁,味道鹹鹹甜甜的,口感很硬像柴魚。主角漢堡牛肉聽從店員的建議選擇medium rare,出來的顏色呈鮮粉紅,口感腍嫩,有點瘋狂,有點難忘。

Home-made薯條比較幼身,看起來焦焦的,以為口感會很脆,但實際上卻比較軟腍,不是我喜歡的類型。這兒的飲品選擇比較少,既無朱古力奶亦無奶昔類,果汁亦只有標榜是全天然無添加,石榴汁跟兒時唧唧冰的味道意外地相似,感覺有點搞笑。

這兒的客人以外國人為主,也許因為時間尚早,所以客人不多,坐得很舒服。起初以為餐廳走自助形式便會自助到底,不過當日發現所有客人包括外國人在用完餐後,都是直接走人,似乎沒有人會自助收拾把餐具退回去。高檔的快餐lunch要$185,定價貴了一點。另外,購票後店員會叫號碼取食物,不過似乎許多客人都搞不清楚狀況哦。

Enter the French. Located in IFC, this burger joint has tremendous overhead (imagine the rent) as it fights the current HK burger battle. After discussion with other foodies and a scan of photos on the Big Fernand Instagram page and hashtag, @hangrywifey and I decided to make the leap and see if the buzz surrounding Big Fernand could be lived up to or not.
We shared Le Bartholomé (135HKD), their Aussie pasture-fed beef burger with Raclette, pork bacon and homemade BBQ sauce, as well as Le Victor (120HKD), their Veal burger with caramelised onions and Fourme d’Ambert. A lot of the discussion out there has been concerning value for money and meat-to-bun ratio, so I was a bit worried. Would this burger survive the hype?

The Bartholomé ended up being pretty good, with a delicious BBQ sauce that didn’t overpower the flavour of the beef, but rather, added a sweetness that combined with the Raclette’s flavour which ended up rather satisfying. I also was not upset by the size of the bun, because I’m typically a tidy eater, and the beef-bun ratio left it so that my hands were not a juicy mess upon completion. Score. However, le Victor stole the show. The veal meat was tender, and the Tonton Fernand (their sweet mayonnaise) paired beautifully with the burger. Both burgers ended up satisfying, and I wasn’t so full afterward as to slip into that food coma that slows one down in hustling, bustling HK.

There *was* a travesty on our table though, and it took the form of the Fernandines (or chips, or fries, or what-have-you). The spice/salt mixture used was quite lovely, but the consistency (aka ‘the sogginess factor’) was OUT OF CONTROL. We were so dissatisfied with the limp, soggy representations of fries on our plates that we left them uneaten. Ufffff. They were terrible.
So what will happen to Big Fernand? My predication is, while they have a novel idea (honestly, where else can you get a ‘French’ burger?), ultimately, Big Fernand’s expensive rental location and general lack of consistency are not enough to rise them through the ranks in the great HK Burger Wars. At present, there are too many other venues that are getting their burgers (and fries) right with higher consistency. So, we shall see (ce qui sera sera).
Suggestion: consider increasing the crispness of the fries, and considering adding an additional 25g to the burger patty. Also, drop the sesame seeds from the buns…perhaps in favour of a brioche-type bun? Best of luck…

要好食既burger, LKF真係大把, 我食開果間INSOMNIA就只係$75, 好食過佢

I recently moved in Hong Kong, and I heard about this new French burger restaurant that opened in the ifc mall in Central.I decided to go and taste what a French burger is \ with two of my friends. I recently moved in Hong Kong, and I heard about this new French burger restaurant that opened in the ifc mall in Central.
I decided to go and taste what a French burger is \ with two of my friends. So we went for the dinner, and the place was not very crowded so it took 10 minutes to queue, order our food and be served.

I chose the beef one with bacon, it is the most popular, and it was very good. The bun was very soft anf fluffy, the meat juicy and the bacon crispy. So good ! I get my burger with a set including a juice and French fries.

My friends chose the vegetarian and they loved it. They said that it is probably the best veggie burger they ever had in Hong Kong. 

The staff is really nice there, most of people doing the service were French, and they were wearing a fake mustache, even the girls !

French Burgers, now there's something I'd never really thought about.. I mean, burgers are quintessentially American, but with the worldwide trend of burger domination, it's perhaps natural that the French would give burgers a crack.

Big Fernand is a French burger chain that opened Paris in 2012 and has been dominating the European burger scene. Listed by the Wall Street Journal as the best burger concept in France, it was only a matter of time before world wide domination beckoned. With a base of six different burger types, one of the elements that sets Big Fernand apart is the liberal use of cheese in their burgers.

I'd sauntered over to IFC, where Hong Kong's first and so far only Big Fernand is housed, for a quick solo lunch. It was fairly early still, and while there was a queue of people waiting to place their order, there were plenty of seats still available. Joining the queue, one of the wait staff asked in a sexy French accent if it was my first time... Such a personal question, but I got the gist and agreed that it was in fact my first time for a French burger.

A quick rundown of the menu ensued and after a few minutes, I had a pretty good feel for what Big Fernand was all about and with a strong recommendation to try the signature burger, I placed my order. After placing my order, I made my way to one of the bench style share dining seats and had a bit of a look around the joint. A couple of things stood out. Firstly, there were storage areas for big cheese wheels (cheese before it's sliced), which was just about the Frenchiest thing I'd seen in a while. The other was a list of 'the Big Fernand laws' - a list of nine laws that govern the operating model of Big Fernand.

After a short while, my number was called and I went to collect my meal on an old school army tray, which very much reminded me of collecting food in a school cafeteria. I'd ordered a burger, fries (no need to call them French Fries) and a lemonade, which formed part of a package deal.

I'll kick off with my burger, which was the signature burger called 'Le Big Fernand' which comprised Australian graded pasture fed beef, with no hormones or antibiotics, tommy de savoie cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, parsley and tata fernando (house made cocktail sauce). My burger came wrapped in brown wax paper, that listed out the different burger types on offer. Unwrapping my burger, my heart sank. My burger looked nothing like the pictures I'd seen around the place, in fact, it looked very ordinary. I could not see any of the ingredients, all that sat in front of me was a bun.... I knew that there would be stuff inside, but on first appearances, it didn't look very appetising at all.

A couple of bites in and my opinion hadn't changed. There is a golden ratio when thinking about burgers, which incorporates bun to ingredients ratio and the Le Big Fernand ration was all wrong. While my beef patty was cooked medium rare as requested, all I could taste was the cheese and the overpowering cocktail sauce. Worse, there was so much bun, it took some time to get to the ingredients. I ended up just pulling the burger apart and eating the meat on it's own.

I thought I'd have more luck with the fries, which I was anticipating as being amazing, they looked pretty darn tasty, but when I started to munch on them, they tasted odd. Now, I have to say that I thought they were made out of potato, but it's possible that they were actually sweet potato, which I hate. Either way, I wasn't a hundred percent sure, so, if they were sweet potato chips, I guess they were ok. However, if they were made from potato, they didn't resonate at all with me and I left most of them behind.

Feeling a little dejected, I rolled up what remained of my burger, gave a big sigh to the fries, then grabbed my Elixirs lemonade and left the building. I'd had high hopes for my Big Fernand visit, after hearing good things, but the truth was it was the least impressive burger I'd ever had. Now, that's not to say that others wouldn't like Big Fernand, they must, the place was pumping by the time I'd left, it's just that the burger didn't sit well for me.

With many burger joints still around in Hong Kong, I'll not be back for a second helping of Big Fernand. Life is too short for bad burgers.

By the way, I hope I'm allowed back in to France when we visit in 2016!

開幕無耐去試下Big Fernand,未入門口已經有人主動過黎招呼,staff著住既制服幾casual,態度大致上都幾friendly。以前都聽過法國分店會大排長龍,我去ifc個日可能係lunch hour都幾多人等,但都無5分鐘已經到我點餐。因為staff係我等緊既時候已經簡單介紹過餐牌,所以一早已經諗好食咩,所以就算有人龍都好快。一睇menu,我本身唔食牛同豬所以食Burger都幾煩,不過呢間有雞之餘仲有素食Burger!而且係Portabello Mushroom!有得揀就當然揀素食之選啦!見其他食Burger既餐廳一係無素食一係個包濕到出曬水,我都有D驚,但個包黎到乾濕剛剛好。重點係Portabello Mushroom好易出水,但佢地無加太水既汁,醬夠杰。個塊菇加埋法國芝士真係好夾!仲有乾蕃茄酸酸甜甜,唔會太膩。(乾蕃茄同普通生蕃茄口感同味道真係差太遠!乾番茄甜味重少少)麵包查左牛油好香好軟,本人都幾鍾意芝麻,所以對個包極之高度評價。加左$40做Combo薯條都幾好食,調味好特別,唔似一般用鹽得個鹹字。飲品反而幾值得一提,佢地可能係法國餐廳,野飲既選擇都幾另類(似係CityS

题外话/补充资料: 食完之後去樓下CitySuper睇有無得買個隻檸檬汁,結果搵唔到,睇黎得Big Fernand先有得飲

Came here on a public holiday and had high expectations of this place.Had the Bartholome burger set (which came with fries & the lemonade drink) which cost around $170 with the meat medium rare. A little disappointed with the burger quality. The overall burger was only warm and not hot. The meat patty was small and it didn't have the beef taste and wasn't flavoursome. There was only a little bacon on the burger - I felt the bacon was premade. The sauce and the cheese was nice but overall burger

The fries was ok - somehow there were only a few big pieces with mostly crumbs and alot of the crumbs were too burnt to be eaten.

Overall the food here was average and not worth the amount you are paying for.
You can get better burgers elsewhere in Hong Kong.

I went to the Big Fernand restaurant last week for the first time.The staff kindly recommended the Bartholome so I chose that one. I asked for medium rare meat and it was perfectly cooked as requested. The bacon was really crispy and the cheese very tasty. I also had the chance to try the cheese while I was queuing as the staff was doing some tasting to the customers.I had spinach leaves as side dish and an Elixir Nature, that is actually a lemonade made in France that allow your hair growing fa

 So funny!

I really enjoyed my dinner there, the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was good with nice music.

I highly recommend to try!
