A friend was raving on about TDR's white truffle dishes so decided to go try them one night. As expected, the food did not disappoint!

Upon arrival, Moo & I noticed how packed the restaurant was! Luckily there was a cancellation earlier, so we were able to sit on a nice table for 3.

With our friend there, we were able to replace items on the 4 course menu ($660 hkd plus 10% service) from the 5 course menu ($830 plus service)... what joy!!

Three white truffle dishes were available: Yellow egg ravioli with white truffles / Homemade tagliolini with white truffles / Risotto with white truffles --- TDR uses white truffles from Alba - the best of the best!

I had my eyes on the ravioli so couldn't wait to try it *

To calm our excitement, our friend recommended TDR's bellinis ($80 hkd). To my surprise, they tasted EXACTLY like Cipriani's famous bellinis! Even the colour was the same.. to a point where I thought they used Cipriani's bellini mix. Turns out DTR's source puree fresh peaches, freeze them so they turn into a sorbet and mix it with champagne. LOVED IT.. I have FINALLY found a Bellini in HK that could give those at Cipriani a run for their money.

When the bread basket arrived, I was delighted to see a wide variety of bread in one basket. I've always remembered TDR's bread being fresh and warm, going perfectly well with the olive oil they served. I asked for some butter as well and was happy to savour the extremely creamy block of goodness at its finest. A must order for Bread & Butter lovers!

The amuse bouche of the day was a small cup of tomato soup, the semi-sour taste of the tomatoes was the perfect touch to kick start our appetite.

First course:

Pan Fried Quail and Fois Gras with Grapes and Hazelnut (Mine):

One of TDR's signature dishes, the quail was cooked to perfection - Tender and juicy. The fois gras was seared perfectly. I'd recommend you to have a bite of the quail with the fois gras AND the grapes! Seriously heavenly.

Tuna Belly Tartare with Slow cooked Egg, Sea Urchin and Cardoon (a type of vegetable) (Moo's):

Toro lovers would be happy to see this on the menu! Best to mix all components on the dish together and eat in one go.

Second course:

Burrata Cheese Ravioli with Duck Ragout and Chanterelle Mushrooms (Mine):

Six raviolis arrived on a long plate, covered in ragout and mushrooms. My friend advised me to eat them at once as the burrata continued to melt inside the ravioli. The cheese was very tasty. However, I try to avoid garlic when I'm dining out so I did not care for the chopped up raw garlic too much as it was sprinkled all over the ragout and mushrooms.

Yellow Egg Ravioli with White Truffles (Moo's):

The waiter took a whole tray of white truffles out so you could just smell the fantastic aroma. He then shaved a very generous amount of white truffles on to the ravioli. Very satisfying * (You can replace the courses on the menu with a truffle dish, just need to pay extra)

Third course:

Trio of Wagyu Short Rib, Wagyu Beef Tenderloin and Ox Tongue with Whipped potatoes and Red Wine Sauce (mine):

I had to order my all time favourite. The beef and mash went well with our red wine, along with super fresh french beans and a baby carrot. Delicious!

Roasted Iberian Suckling Pig with Apple Chutney and Romanesco
(Moo's):

LOVED the presentation. A very warm and appetizing dish, great for Suckling pig lovers but if you prefer lighter dishes I would go for the seafood options.

Forth course:

Pear Tart with Vanilla Icecream (Mine):

I always thought TDR's desserts were exceptional and this pear tart is, in my opinion, probably one of the best in HK. If you like Sevva's pear tart, you would definitely LOVE this one. I would happily munch on its pastry on its own.

Pan Fried Brioche with Goat Cheese Icecream (Moo's):

For brioche lovers, this was a dish one could not miss. The brioche was delicious and not soggy at all. The icecream complimented it very well. *Do not be intimidated by the flavour of the icecream. My friend described it to taste like the Chinese white rabbit brand milk candy... and it was exactly like that! Amazing.

Our long and enjoyable meal ended with two glasses of Homemade lemoncello. Quite strong with an alcohol percentage of 36-38%(?). Great for digestion though! A generous amount of petite fours was also served. This consisted of chocolates, homemade marshmellows, lovely mini macaroons and madeleines in both original and chocolate flavours.

For the quality of food they serve, I think TDR is definitely good value. I was very impressed that all dishes were served in hot plates (except for the dessert courses of course). The service is excellent and the cozy, romantic ambience makes it a great place for special occasions *

The interior of the place is definitely classy and decent, with a nice staircase that leads you up to the restaurant. We ordered a bottle of French red wine after a detailed introduction from one of the wine specialist, and of course another bottle of sparkling water that costs you $80.

They serve two kinds of tasting menus - 4 or 5 courses. We both opted for the 5 courses ones, and I picked their signature Quail and Foie Gras with roasted fig as starter, the fixed tomato water with lobster and urchin, Linguine with red prawn, meat trio and finally caramel fig with vanilla ice-cream as dessert.

The starter entered my mouth with a pleasant surprise. I have to say it's one of the best foie gras I have ever tasted in my life. The taste is just right, and it slowly melts in your mouth. Not like the other usual foie gras, it doesn't feel too oily or soft. The quail is a nice compliment to it where the quail meat is tender and the light oily presence in your mouth makes it a delicious dish.

The tomato water with lobster and urchin was an interesting course to follow. By having a sip of the tomato water after a bite of the lobster, it brought out the fresh taste of the seafood, and it just helps your appetite. Though the urchin was a shadow to the lobster, it's still a great dish.

The came the Linguine with red prawn. Compared with the 2 previous dishes, i gotta say this one lacks talking points. The linguine was definitely well made and the prawn was fresh, but the overall taste didn't wow me. My friend ordered a spaghetti with squid ink and said it's good. I will definitely pick something else if I were to visit this place again.

Finally it's the beef trio, which features 3 pieces of different beef - the ox tongue, waygu tenderloin, and braised beef. The chef recommends that we start from the tongue onwards as the taste would go from mild to rich. All 3 were tasty, with the meat tender and juicy, but it also didn't impress me as much. Maybe it's because I have also had top quality beef dishes elsewhere before (may be even at a cheaper price) , but subconsciously I do have higher expectation for a place like this.

The service, however, is top class with all the waiters and waitresses friendly and profession, and their attention to details is highly appreciated. Since we only secured the table for 2 hours due to another booking, we moved to their bar section to finish our bottle of wine. They arranged another private table at the section where we could keep on enjoying our dessert and our wine undistributed, which was a decent and thoughtful arrangement.

Of course it's not a restaurant that you will go week-in week-out, but surely it's a good experience for a special occasion like the one tonight.

Drawing Room has a unique blend of hominess and elegance that's hard to find in Hong Kong. We are impressed by the stair case and it's decor leading up to the restaurants. It was full when we arrive at 8:30. Although the seatings are fairly close to each other, we were fortunate to have mostly small gatherings of friends and family who enjoy cozy conversation and there seems to be a silent protocol in the room to maintain that ambiance through out the evening.

The waiters are friendly and proud of their chef's menu creation and take pain to explain to first timers like us on what are the popular and must try dishes. It does remind me of our dining experience in Europe and Australia (where waiters are considered an almost professional role).

A very nice and wide range of wine selection to choose from and probably one of the most extensive Italian wine list I have come across. We picked a second wine from the well known producer out of the Tuscan area and it was great value for money.

Food has a creative flair and yet a familiar Italian tone to it. The fois gras and scampi carpaccio are my favorites. The prawn linguini showed off the quality of pasta dish one would expect from a first class Italian restaurant and the main courses are good but no surprises there. Dessert is probably not a focus or strength here but again they are all consistent quality and bring the evening to a good finish.

There were a lot of new and creative items on the menu so I'll definately be back again soon to try those I did not get a chance to taste.

Pasta from The Drawing Room is probably the best in town and has always been the crown of the restaurant. After my meal, I admit that they truly excel in all kinds of pasta - cooked with the best ingredients and to perfection. I ordered the signiture Red Prawn Linguine and surely it did not disappoint! Some of my friends had the rabit fettucini which left them craving for more.

Highly recommend The Drawing Room for anyone who hasn't been. Surely it's a hidden jewel in town.

On my latest fifth visit to The Drawing Room, I found the gourmet dinner served by Chef Roland & his team to be of excellent value for money. This is confirmed by the commom knowledge that food cost at TDR commands a large proportion of the budget in view of Chef Roland's insistance that only the finest ingredients sourced from all over Europe and Japan should be served. We had excellent dishes with the following food items: 1. Red Pawn Pasta-served with the freshiest big red pawn from Cannary

2.Lobster with home made spaghetti-best exclusive spaghetti I have ever eaten
3. Hokaido Clam-large and succulent
4. Crab Souffle- cooked to perfection -can eat this unique dish every day-highly recommended as I have not seen thisdish served anywhere else in Asia
5.Slow cooked Bresse chicken-served with chewy white and dark meat bringing out real French chicken flavor
6. Colorado lamb-served warm inside and deliciously rare outside
7. Italian cheese with 3 selections-goes very well with Italian or French red wine
I congratulate Chef Roland for serving excellent and tantallizing dishes and for making Hong kong a must stop for goumet food

The best dish we had is Trio of Wagyu Short Rib and taste just right. We had the peach soup for dessert and it was freezy cold and we need to wait the tempature warm a bit before eating. The Pan Fried Brioche is nice and we love the honey taste.

The ambience is cozy and warm and service is good. Wine is at reasonable priced.
At conclusion, it is not a bad choice for trial but no need for second visit.

My friends and I had high hopes for this restaurant. The waiting list was a month long, and we had read some excellent reviews of the restaurant.

The dinner started off well with the restaurant serving us warm foccacia and breadsticks with our own bowls of olive oil and balsamic. The sommelier was knowledgeable about the extensive wine list. However, when the menu came it looked quite safe. Nothing jumped out at us so we went with the waiter's recommended restaurant specials for the 4 course menu.

We were informed that Drawing Room was renowned for its white truffle so we decided to add to our 4 course meal the rissotto, and scrambled eggs, both dishes served with very generous portions of shaved white truffles.

We liked both, though we were dubious about the scrambled eggs when they first arrived, which had more of a consistency of pumpkin soup. The foie gras with pigeon was tasty and well porportioned but the quality of the foie gras was average. I had the beautifully presented and richly flavoured linguine with red prawn which was pretty good but the pasta was a little on the raw side (cooking had not quite reached the al dente stage). As for the trio of wagyu, I was not wowed by any of the trios - especially not I was given a medium steak (I had asked for medium rare) - turns out they are given me the wrong plate but we had already dug into the beef tongue part of the trio so it was a bit too late to swap plates. And then there were the carrot on the plate which tasted like they had been marinated in salt, not deliberately apparently because my friend's carrot was not salty at all. My dinner was capped off with the fried broiche and ice-cream, which was hearty and a lovely surprise.

However, what was a bit frustrating was the service. They were attentive, and polite, but (consistent with many other European restaurants in HK), they still fall short. I practically had to stop the waiters from stealing my half finished plates away. I had left my cutlery in a position that should leave the waiters in no doubt that I had not yet finished. If there was doubt, would it not be polite to ask before they removed the plate? Were they in a hurry to move us onto the next course? Finally when we were paying for the bill we decided to pay on separate credit cards. I was quite surprised when the waiter said to us "does this include a tip"? When we said that it did, he said well if you pay by credit card, we don't get the tip. This whole exchange just seemed rather crude to me, at a fine dining restaurant as this. I mean, are the waiters even supposed to ask you to leave a tip?

All in all, the food had shortcomings but at the price we paid (HK$1200 per head for a 4 course meal, plus sharing of the white truffle dishes and 2-3 glasses of moderately priced wine each) we were expecting a more polished service and quality of food.

We hope that in time the restaurant fine tunes its service to make it a truly fine dining experience.

Heard so much about The Drawing Room, being the most talked about restaurant in town so I feel I just want to write a short summary of my wonderful dining experience.

Ambience - relaxed and cozy.
Wine list - extensive and so reasonable priced.
Food - excellent ..... from bread basket to main course to dessert !!! I was very full but still managed to finish the entire order of my dessert - fried brioche with persimmon ice cream (reminds me of our traditional french toast but a lighter version ....yum yum !!!)
Service - friendly, attentive, always with a smile on their face.
Value - best part ............. real value for money. Can't think of any other restaurant where I can get this quality meal, decor and service for what we paid for !!!

Just learned that The Drawing Room is awarded with 1 Michelli star - definitely well deserved.

On the other hand, nice decor, extensive choice of wine, and great service. I saw someone mention about the toilet... they really need to do something about it. It was the same toilet from the previous restaurant., Opia. Gotta step it up guys.

My girlfriends took me there for a belated birthday celebration. It was belated as it took them more than a month to get a table. As such, we all went in with really high expectation on this "talk of the town" restaurant. As soon as I walked in, I was attracted by the very cozy atmosphere and interesting art pieces on the wall. We were then greeted and lead to a semi private room where we enjoyed one of the best meal we've had for a long time. Since one of my friends have been there before, she took care of the menu for our party and we had a "special menu" which included some of the restaurant's signature dishes.

First they brought us the bread basket and the farmer's bread was simply unbelievable - so crisp on the outside and soft and warm inside. We immediately indulge ourselves but had to control not too have too much so we had to ask the waiter to stop serving more.

For appertiser we had the langoustine carpaccio with yellow mushroom and tuna belly. The seafood so tasty and fresh and the yellow mushroom a real compliment.

We then had the green pea soup with Hokkaido Scallop and Caviar. I am not a big fan of pea soup but this one certainly changed my mind ! The "huge" seared scallop with a touch of caviar made the soup even tastier.

Then came our pasta - had a choice of their signature linguine with red prawns and angel hair with sea urchin. I went for the latter but managed to have a taste of the linguine. Both were outstanding but I liked my choice better.

Main course was also a choice of 2 - wagyu beef trio which I was told is one of the most popular dish but since I don't eat beef, I went for the smoked pigeon with figs and coffee sauce. Wow - the best pigeon I've had in a western meal - nicely carmelized but so tender and juicy inside.

Since it was my belated birthday celebration, I insisted NOT to have the birthday cake but did request for something special for dessert. We were served the fried brioche with vanilla ice cream. As we were all quite full already and thought we would only be able to have a taste of this "special dessert" - but one bite and we couldn't resist. As a result, we cleaned our plates !!!!!

Almost forgot to mention the very reasonable wine that the manager recommended. The have a good collection and all reasonably priced. Must say the service was also very good - warm and attentive, yet giving us space to have some privacy among us girls.

All in all, this is truly the best meal I've had for a long time. Was told (since I didn't pay) that the price is extremely reasonable - real value for price.

This is one restaurant that I would highly recommend to my friends and definitely worth the wait. Look forward to going back again soon.

First of all, the washroom is totally not up to standard, not clean enough, definitely not up to the standard of a high class restaurant. Food is just ok, honestly not a single dish is 'impressive'. Very standard italian cooking I would say, compare with Amber, this is like a kindergarten.

Wine list is good, but I would suggest that you go for something with a younger vintage.

Overall, the experience is just ok, not superb but not too bad though.

Went there last Saturday for a special occasion... with high hope. The atmosphere is nice but the tables are set a little bit too close one to another. Lighting is dim but warm. The waiters are good looking and helpful. The wine list is to be honest very good and surprised me enough that the mark-up is way too generous. I ordered a glass of house pinot noir and it was awesome. Up to this point I still believe that this restaurant goes with the extremely high rating that it gets in this for

I ordered 2 4-dish tasting menu. Starters are the foie gras with quail but my heart sank after seeing the foie gras being over-burnt. instead of goldenly brown it was black and i can't even get a good picture of it with my 24-70 2.8 with ISO1000... of course i should blame the dim lighting but still this is not the way they do the foie gras... the quail was alright and pretty juicy, just a bit undercooked at the flesh attaching to the bone.
The next was pasta and I choose Linguini and that was good - but not really worth 250 though. For the main course I choose the beef trio and my wife chose sea bass. The beef was good and very moist and think the ox tongue is the best part as the other 2 are tender enough but they taste like Chinese 鹵水汁 which is a bit disappointed.
The Creme Brulee and cafe latte are both good so i felt a bit better at the end.
The service is friendly but not professional enough. The dishes are placed in front of my face instead of having them placed from my left.
Overall, this dinner spent me 1600 and i think it is a bit overpriced . It disappoints me as I thought Chef Roland and his crew can do much better than that.

第一道菜是quail, foie gras, with quail egg.
而女友則選了 seafood risotto with Burrata cheese, risotto十分al dente, clams 及 mussel則十分juicy。
女友點了trio of waygu...
-Creme Brulee
-Peach Vanilla pudding with Peach Sabayon

I ordered a rack of lamb-- guess how many 'racks' there were?! you got it, it really was A RACK of lamb. one piece! that costed us 320hkd.

girl friend had an uni angelhair. Good taste but again, after two SWIRLS of pasta on the fork, dish was completely GONE!

soup was good.

dessert portion-- 2 bites literally. Mille feuille?? i think there were only 3 caramilized sheets with 2 layers of cream in the middle.
As soon as i wanted to break the piece in half and let my friend have a taste, the entire thing melted and the dish was completely gone... that was another 120 hkd.

again, quality was not bad but portions would be perfect for anorexic ppl.
