頭盤過後,不消三分鐘,主菜便上桌,上菜速度反映了店方的細心。友人的主菜是Chilean sea bass。爐魚煎得邊位帶脆,內裡仍保持嫩滑。Pasta口感不俗,醬汁的忌廉份量不多,truffle pesto很香,帶點微酸,未知是否加了點檸檬汁的關係?很清新的菜式~

我的Hanger steak則相反。甫上桌,濃郁的肉味夾雜炭火香撲面而來。要了Medium rare,除了部份位置有點過韌,大部份都烤得恰到好處。紅酒汁充滿肉味,酒味不嗆鼻,極為惹味。我偏愛沾些微garlic mustard,不會搶去肉汁的風頭,卻能減去膩滯。
牛扒底層的菠菜和伴菜薯條,可謂均衡飲食吧~ 薯條幼身,竟炸得香脆不油膩,應該是放於滾油炸的時間不長之故。薯條和牛扒總是最合拍的~
真正做到medium rare就perfect了~

食畢主菜,已經飽了八成,幸好甜品份量不算太多。梨帶天然的微酸,外層包滿了玉桂糖,單食未免有點嗆喉,和旁邊貌似芝士餅,質感彷如雪糕磚的Calvados Parfait食,中和了甜膩感,反而清新宜人。Calvados是蘋果酒,屬Brandy,做成Parfait甚為討好,上面的蘋果蓉同樣清甜。Parfait和cinnamon pear配搭,形成對比,個人很欣賞,唯一可挑剔的是賣相不夠美觀。

最後,是我期待已久的Chocolate Marquise。賣相很精緻,沾少許白朱古力mousse,連同下面的朱古力磚一齊食。朱古力入口即溶,口感就如Royce的生朱古力,口腔充斥著濃濃朱古力味,白朱古力mousse則甜而不膩,充滿奶香,更顯滑溜。這種配搭既能增加奶香和質感,又保持了濃郁甘香的可可味,我極為欣賞! 可惜的是脆餅稍為硬了點,否則便完美了~

由頭盤到甜品均令人滿意,不僅食物素質,上菜速度和食物配搭等細節都反映了店方的心思。經過此役,這店迅即俘虜了我的心,未知餐牌會否定期更換呢?與友人已盤算著再來的日子: )

The food was ok - nothing special. Service was very slow. At 9pm the server finally came over to take our desert order (after giving us the menus 15 minutes earlier) and informed us that we didn't have time for dessert as we had to give the table up for another reservation! After some discussion we were able to stay and half the tables in the restaurant remained empty - very confusing and not a great experience.

因為上次「抽仲」一張free dessert coupon,我這甜品癡,沒辦法把它忘記,所以都是要應用它。lunch time人客疏落,不用等位。當我出示那coupon,選了Banoffee Sundae時。誰知店長說要在餐牌上order一點東西,方可用。心諗:信上沒寫明"惠顧送甜品";只寫著"甜品不可選什麼什麼"。不過......哪有「優惠」劵是真有消費者的著數吖??terms最後一定附帶一句,「一切決定權由餐廳作主,如有更改,將不另作通知」之類。只好怪自己太天真,莽想自己真的仲「獎」。唯有order一樣自己想吃的東西啦!三文魚魚籽醬炒蛋$91,蛋嫩滑得要命!!當中一定加了不少忌廉/奶/牛油。「蛋」本身散發難以抗拒的淡香特質+煙三文魚的咸,味道極平衡美味!令我想起在高級酒店吃自助早餐,會狂吃的滑蛋......小小碟的蛋,很快給我消滅完,sundae可上了。鹽味焦糖雪糕,好好吃!更出色的是,糖漿醃過的香蕉片,仍保留到,吃新鮮香蕉的,腍中帶少許"爽"口感覺!Press Room我不會再去了,自問不是"半唐番",在這太西方人聚集,serve慣外國人的中國人店員,我自己感到渾身不自在。

The Press Room 是荷里活道其中一間很有名氣的餐廳. 朋友在中環上班經常到那裡晚飯和午飯. 星期六晚我們很早7:00便到, 帶位的態度很一般. 我們打開 Menu 絕大部份都是海鮮類. 我們選了entree caesar salad, mushroom soup 都 ok. 另外 crab dressing 就差一點, 是碎蟹肉做成的, 味道一般.Main course 我們選魚, fish of the day 是 sole 魚, 煮法以焗為主, 配檸檬和橄欖油. 可能因為是fish of the day, 條魚由 chef 親自拿出來, 之後有兩位侍應和經理問味道如何. 其實味道太油和有點咸. 朋友選的seabass, 味道ok. 另外又點了 lobster benedict, 很有 lobster 味, 不錯.甜品朋友點了 lemon suffle, 要等二十分鐘, 份量很少, 味道可以.

Met up with my classmates for an early lunch/late brunch at The Press Room.It is not a very big space, but it portrays quite a rustic feel with the brick walls and big blackboards listing out their wine selection and daily specials. Met up with my classmates for an early lunch/late brunch at The Press Room.

It is not a very big space, but it portrays quite a rustic feel with the brick walls and big blackboards listing out their wine selection and daily specials.

Their menu is on a printed A3 sheet, and they have a section for brunch items as well as a mix of starters, pastas, burgers, sandwiches and dessert selection.

We all chose from the brunch section.

I had the eggs florentine. Two perfectly poached eggs with runny yolk on a bed of very green, but quite tough spinach on a thin toasted muffin (which came buttered even though I told them not to) with the hollandaise on the side. Quite decent, with the hollandaise sauce veering towards the buttery side.

Other people's meals:

French Toast: A thick slice of toasted white bread with freshly cut bananas accompanied with whipped cream and maple syrup.

Cheese and Bacon Omelette: A folded fluffy looking omelette with slightly oozing cheese and bacon.

Scrambled Eggs with Smoked Salmon and Caviar: Fluffy eggs with smoked salmon interspersed between the layers.

Everything tasted not too bad, but the portions were definitely on the small side, so if you're a big eater, you might need to order two items.

along came the asparagus,looked well presented but tasted sour like it had been blanched a week ago and gone off,there was no salt so apart from the sour taste it had no flavour,
anyway hated it ,wont go back,it wasnt even busy,all about the enviroment but food and service was a total disaster.

為慶祝基督教顯現節,法國傳統這個時間會製皇者蛋糕。我也唔執輸,到這家洋人餐廳碰碰運氣。何解?因為The Press Room推廣,凡惠顧皇者蛋糕,如那件蛋糕找到一粒紅豆,即免費招待。我吃的那件就沒喇,不過仍可參加抽獎。我就抽到免費甜品,可供下次用。講番件皇者蛋糕$55,是酥皮包著杏仁牛油蛋糕。好普通喎!酥皮不是脆,蛋糕也不見幼滑。突然醒起,曾在「法國雪山咖啡」也吃過一件,即製,而且熱烘烘的皇者蛋糕……噢!今次真是有點多餘。吃蛋糕之餘,亦order了Cappuccino,好飲,但稱不上出色。Waiter/waitress很友善,但因食物沒驚喜,沒book位,坐在高枱椅上,側邊不斷有人來去往來,感覺想快d走。

We choose the set lunch.Starter - mushroom soup. Tasted fine with plenty of chopped up mushroom. Main course - Cod fish fillet with white wine sauce served on a bed of mash potato and vegetables. Firstly, the size of the plate was very big so compared to the tiny fillet of the fish, the fish looked rather humble. Starter - mushroom soup. Tasted fine with plenty of chopped up mushroom.

Main course - Cod fish fillet with white wine sauce served on a bed of mash potato and vegetables. Firstly, the size of the plate was very big so compared to the tiny fillet of the fish, the fish looked rather humble. The fish tasted really bland, the sauce did not taste like white wine sauce but some ordinary white sauce.

I also tried my friend's turkey dish (there were 3 pieces of turkey with the size of a $5 coin!). The turkey was wrapped in a piece of bacon, too dry but tasted better than the fish.

When we asked the waiter for the list of desserts, he merely mumbled something i could not understand. it's only after having asked 3 times that i managed to figure out 'meringue and bread & butter pudding'. I asked him what the meringue was served with, he said nothing, i said are you sure, then he said it's served with cherry sauce...

The meringue was actually served with chestnut moose and cranberry sauce...
The bread & butter pudding was very average, though i could hardly give it a proper tasting since it was ridiculously small.

overall, i won't recommend this to anybody. Yes the atmosphere is relaxing and the decor is nice, but if i want to pay more than $200 for a lunch for decor only, there are plenty of other choices.

So a big group of us decided to celebrate a birthday at the Press Room, big mistake. First and for most I guess the new trend now in HK is any restaurant that resembles one you might find in NYC is hip, believe you me most of these places in NYC are below par so copying the idea, menu and theme is a disaster unto itself. So lets start with how the night went down hill just from the wines, we had them open at least 5 bottles and returned them all as they all tasted like cheap vinegar (note we cho

America, France, USA...All bad) they need to re think their list or get a real wine Sommelier. On to the food, we all found the menu to be simple and somewhat boring nothing really was a "signature" or special. I ended up having grilled seafood (over priced for the portion) it was good but then again how hard is it to mess up grilled seafood? Some of our party chose the wagyu beef burger, now a burger is very difficult to mess up yet they managed to mess up on a few of the temperatures so new ones had to be ordered and at that point they came back to tell us that they ran out of wagyu and can make new ones with regular ground beef! So you can imagine how thrilled the guests were who chose the wagyu and got chuck instead. Lastly the desserts, they actually have a "pastry executive chef" yet the desserts were bland, boring, cold when they should be hot and hot when they should be cold. We were a big enough group that we all chose a different dessert and tasted everyones and we all came to the conclusion that the pastry chef was not doing them any favours, maybe pre made desserts would work out better for them and the customers. The only pleasant thing about the evening was the service the waiters were attentive polite and non-pushy. What a bad birthday dinner!

一般來說,Pub與fine-dining似乎一點扯不上關係,但位於上環荷里活道的Press Room,予人感覺就是既有pub的輕鬆悠閒氣氛,又有fine-dining的精緻美食享受,值得推介!是晚由中環SOHO步行過去,也要花一點腳骨力的。經小小的入口進店後,首先進入眼廉是新鮮吸引的海鮮陣;再穿過酒吧區,就是高樓底的主餐區,店內食客以外藉人仕為主,暗暗的環境與SOHO的Frites Belgium on Tap很似,都是輕鬆舒服,不過幾難拍照的。等待主角期間,與靚女友人先享用了麵包盤,其中軟滑的牛油極得我心,我幾乎想將之清光! 研究餐牌一輪,與友人先點了菜,待人齊才吩咐上菜;店方在這方面時間拿捏不錯,首先是兩款starter size的pasta / risotto:Carbonara($98)-平實賣相下,煙肉口味特香,與濃厚忌廉蛋汁交融效果相當美味,意粉又軟硬適中口感一流,美味之下大家都覺得不太夠喉,有早知的話,該點$148的主菜portion的!Lobster risotto($140)-抱有重大期待的一味,賣相也頗為揀人,結果卻是失望:因龍蝦殼的燶苦味蓋過了龍蝦鮮味,意大利飯本

Carbonara($98)-平實賣相下,煙肉口味特香,與濃厚忌廉蛋汁交融效果相當美味,意粉又軟硬適中口感一流,美味之下大家都覺得不太夠喉,有早知的話,該點$148的主菜portion的!

Lobster risotto($140)-抱有重大期待的一味,賣相也頗為揀人,結果卻是失望:因龍蝦殼的燶苦味蓋過了龍蝦鮮味,意大利飯本身又軟稔欠口感,水準比Opus Grill差太遠了! 與Carbonara恰恰恰相反,這starter size的risotto三個女生食極都有,另外大家都超慶幸沒有選$198主菜portion!

Hanger Steak($260)-散叫$248的主菜,但店內有2-course dinner的組合,選此主菜加配任何一款頭盤或甜品,只需$260,十分之優惠(另外尚有4款主菜選擇,可參考最底的餐單連結)。牛小腹已切成小數件上檯,要了medium肉質果然夠嫩滑,在紅酒汁襯托下香濃肉味彰顯,底下又巧妙配以清爽菠菜,大家都吃得十分滿意。

也要一講與牛柳同上的Frites,雖然是切得較幼身的薯條,但卻香脆不油、十分美味吸引,三女生明明心裡害怕,卻又受不起引誘一條接一條的吃,後來更索性要求拌上mayonnaise同吃,魔鬼得不得了!!

Pear Tarte Tatin($138)-首先介紹的,是為壽星女準備的小小驚喜,生日快樂! 講明是for 2的梨批,造型飽滿可人,並滲出濃濃牛油香氣,待主角吹完蠟燭,馬上忍不住試吃了! 先彈後讚,甜梨添加的糖份過多,以致失去原有的清甜,這方面Bostonian會做得比較好;然而去到底層的酥皮批,我真的沒有話說,有的也只得讚嘆之言:美味出色實在堪稱一絕!! 不怕漏的,再淋上附上的的忌廉汁,那份軟滑感會令人更加欲罷不能..!!

Creme Brulee($65)-雖然只是淺淺的,但面積之大更勝for 2的梨批,上檯時令甜魔心裡爽壞了!! 更重要是味道也實在要好,面層的脆焦糖厚薄適中,清脆有致;中間燉蛋又極其幼滑,同時蛋香與雲尼拿甜香濃郁突出,還搭上一條開心果脆餅,組合豐富動人。比Frites Belgium on Tap的出品,這裡真是有誠意又美味多了!

Chocolate Marquise($72)-造型簡單,然而朱古力味特濃,truffle質感細滑,配上香滑白朱古力慕絲以及面層的脆餅,幾重口味交錯,令人回憶起Riquiqui的作品,而這裡的是更出色!

Banoffee Sundae($78 -> $0)-二人份梨批不能跟餐,就選了這杯新地跟餐,變相成為免費甜品;不過這免費甜品卻特別遲來,不知是甜品太多漏了單,還是侍者根本不相信三位女生的吃甜能耐?
講回正題,新地的中香蕉是糖漬品而非新鮮貨,因此味道較漏,不過與香甜雪糕及朱古力醬的組合仍然美味,見大家興致一般,又交我清貨吧!
 
吃到尾段,見到鄰桌在吃一進門見到的誘人海鮮,大大份的海鮮盤真的很吸引,給了我重來的欲望;此外餐廳的洗手間也很別致,我也忍不住拍照留念了。整體而言,這頓飯吃得相當滿意,不過就是相片不太清晰,大家請見諒!

This place is conveniently located to my apt, so I have gone a few times. I will continue to go back, but I think more for the location than the food. Everything is good, but not great and usually underseasoned.My only actual complaint would be that one time there was a giant thread of some sort in my salad. I know this kind of stuff happens, and they bought me a drink, but still EW.I've ordered the French Onion Soup (you can get better at Liberty Exchange but it's a bit of a walk when I'm starv

I've ordered the French Onion Soup (you can get better at Liberty Exchange but it's a bit of a walk when I'm starving), Press Burger (not bad as it's difficult to find a good burger in HK), Croque Madame for brunch (cheese was a bit hardened but good flavor), Chicken Caeser (Chicken was dry but dressing was good), Frisse au Lardons (thread incident, but would have been good otherwise)...

Try it for yourself if you're strolling by but I wouldn't make this a destination otherwise.

yet still so crowded....for some reasons, this place is very crowded. I cannot say the food is of superb quality, though it's not bad. plus, there is a carpark, quite convenient, except that it's very easy to get lost if you don't know the way.tonite, i loved the prawn cocktail, but the rest is just okay. may be their brunch is better.

I feel like I am in a café in New York/Europe whenever I come here. It’s unpretentious with high ceilings and chalkboard menu, great place to chill and catch up with friends. We had onion soup, very very filling but very yummy, just remember not to stuff yourself with bread before you have this. For main we had croque madame (good), egg and sides of hash brown (nothing special) and lobster avocado sandwich (ok) with fries (yum!). Had another get together with friends tonight. Been hearing a lot about Press Room for a while but honestly never got the chance to go since it's kind of 'out of the way' in Sheung Wan for me. Environment - Overall quite comfortable and casual decor. I love the high ceilings and the chalkboard menus on the wall. Although the place was full it didn't feel cramped. Tables could be a tiny bit bigger since I felt at times the plates (which were on the large size) did clutter up the table slightly.

Service - Food came promptly and there were no mixups. Our waiter felt a times a little 'slow' or maybe under-trained. When I ordered a bottle of sparkling water 2 other waiters came by immediately afterwards to see if I wanted more water which I think showed there was some confusion amongst the waitstaff...but overall I really can't fault their service here.
There was only 1 thing on my mind when I came to Press Room...I got to order their famous fries!
Promme Frites (法國薯條) - Visually the fries look pretty plain but one bite into them and you'll know why they are so famous. The fries (although simple/straight forward) are just done right. Crunchy on the outside, slightly soft on the inside and the best part is they stayed crunchy/hot for quite some time. Also I dig how some of the fries still had the potato skin on them. Although Union J has duck fat fries and Halo has truffle cheese fries...Press Room now has my favorite fries in HK.
Onion Soup Gratinee (洋蔥湯) - Overall a pretty good soup. I like the addition of the chives to the melted cheese. Soup was pretty rich in flavor but I kind of wished there was more soup relative to the amount of cheese and bread. The cheese was melted about right and the onions were caramelized well. The soup felt a little on the thick side to me but that's more personal preference.
Lobster Risotto (意大利龍蝦煨飯) - Risotto is actually not an easy thing to get right. I find many times in HK that risottos comes out too dry or the grains are mushy/too soft. This is not the case at Press Room. The risotto had the right amount of moisture/creaminess and it was nice that you could feel every grain in your mouth. They were also 'generous' with the lobster since I found good sized chunks of it in my risotto. The taste...was very rich and tasty and the lobster flavor permeated every risotto grain. The richness might not be for everyone but overall I think still a very good dish.
What my friends' ordered: So my friends' ordered the skate wing, venison chops and also the hanger steak (medium rare). I tried all 3 and although the skate wing and venison chops were decent (the texture of the skate wing was a little weird: it was flaky in a 'stringy' type of way) that hanger steak was awesome. So full of flavor and juicy. Seriously, next time I go back to Press Room I'm getting that hanger steak.
All in all I had a pretty good meal here at Press Room. The price isn't cheap (mains outside of pastas are generally $200+) but you do get pretty large portion sizes and in a way you are getting your money's worth. Food as I said before is straight forward but I have to commend them for delivering solid dishes albeit the simplicity.
Final note: I think Union J in LKF is a pretty good comparison price, environment and cuisine wise...but I think if you don't find Press Room too out the way I would go to Press Room instead.
