Finally went to Press Room with a friend for Brunch this past Saturday after hearing all the buzz about it. The restaurant decor was very laid-back, bistro-style. Loved the high ceilings and floor length windows letting the sunlight in. Just the perfect atmosphere for a nice brunch to catch up with friends. Finally went to Press Room with a friend for Brunch this past Saturday after hearing all the buzz about it.

The restaurant decor was very laid-back, bistro-style. Loved the high ceilings and floor length windows letting the sunlight in. Just the perfect atmosphere for a nice brunch to catch up with friends.

On to the drinks/food, my friend and I both ordered coffee. I had a hot cappuccino and she had an iced coffee. They serve up a hearty portion of coffee in the large teacup, but unfortunately, the food came very quickly and my cappuccino got cold very quickly.

For starters, we shared the French Onion Soup. The layer of cheese melted on top of the bowl was thick and scrumptious when eaten with the soup and onions. The bread inside the bowl, soaked with the flavorful soup, was delicious as well. I usually don't enjoy soggy bread, but this I did not mind because it tasted so good with the soup. Because there was so much cheese and bread, the soup is already really filling on its own, especially since it comes in a big bowl.

Next came the egg benedict. The ingredients on top of the english muffin were fresh and moist, and the hollandaise sauce adds the perfect acidity to complement the rest of the dish. I liked PR's egg benedict, however, I think for any established restaurant, you can't really do any wrong with egg benedict. It is just a classic dish you need to make well.

Finally came the fettuccine with mushrooms and truffles. We were so stuffed by the time we moved on to eating this. It had arrived at the table along with the egg benedict, so the cream sauce was already cooling down and getting thick. We tried to take several bites out of the dish just to try it, but we were just too full. My friend packed the rest of it home. To be honest, this dish did not wow me, and it is simply too heavy for my liking, though I do love the mushrooms. And another note, unless you're a BIG eater, the small plate option will be ample amount as a main course. I can't imagine how much the large plate would carry.

At the end to cap off, I ordered an earl grey tea. This, unlike my cappuccino, was hot and stayed hot. Maybe I should pace my orders next time so everything does not come at once! Nonetheless, I enjoyed my brunch at the PR. Will definitely be back again next time for the delicious French Onion Soup and to try other dishes!

I've only been to this restaurant for brunch and tea, and while brunch is OK, the service is a bit haphazard and the restaurant is too crowded for my liking on weekend mornings. I much preferred the high tea. There are fewer people, and it's more relaxed. You can sip your coffee and chat with friends, read a newspaper, etc. The open-air raised balcony style of the dining room is great, you can look out onto Hollywood Road. I love the blackboard menu on the walls and the decoration is pretty cool

Decoration-wise, it's very New York Nolita/Soho feel. In fact, it reminds me of a very good restaurant I had brunch in a couple of years ago (and still remember!) -- PUBLIC (http://www.public-nyc.com/). However, Press Room's service, food, and value-for-money is a pale imitation of PUBLIC, but since we can't fly to New York every weekend, Press Room is not a bad choice.

However, as other reviewers have noted, the prices are not really worth it, food-wise.

I would recommend this restaurant for tea and brunch rather than a full meal. It's best for a nice drink and some people-watching.

Brunch at the Press Room today. It's been a while since I was last there, so I was eager to see how things have changed since I was last there.

I was debating whether to order my usual - Croque Monsieur - when something caught my eye. They serve H&H bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese! I am a big fan of H&H Bagels from Manhattan's Upper West Side, and I was determined to finally have a decent bagel in Hong Kong!

Given that the weather was still a bit warm, I decided to start with the leek and potato Vichyssoise. When it arrived, I was surprised (and a little annoyed) to find out that this version was warm. While the chef had the nice touch of adding some black truffles, fact remains that Vichyssoise is meant to be cold. If it's hot then it should be called something else - a simple potato and leek soup, for example.

But I'm happy to say that redemption was achieved via the bagel. While it would have been nice to have a choice of bagels (instead of just plain), it was fantastic to finally be able to have a real bagel in Hong Kong. Almost all the bagels you find here are fake - they're actually bread, not bagels. Here you've got the real McCoy, flown in from New York. While my friend complained about not having enough smoked salmon, I thought there was a reasonable amount of it considering the price. It would have been more perfect to have the bagel served with lox and not smoked salmon (yes, there is a difference...), I suppose that smoked salmon is probably more common here.

i have been visiting this restaurant for dinner and brunch since they opened and have also noticed the standard of quality decline steadily whilst the price has increased.

at first, i went to Press Room for the burger and the lamb sandwich. that was what kept me going back. sadly, they have now abandoned the lamb sandwich. the quality of the burger remains unchanged and is one of the best burgers around.

my biggest complaint is about the steak & eggs. it is just that: 2 eggs and one small piece of steak. no fries, no potatoes, no toast, no nothing. for this they charged $85. if you want toast, you can order a side order of toast for $30. for your $30, you get 1 piece of bread cut in half giving you "2 pieces" of toast. i didn't mind initially because the steak was quite tasty.

fast forward to current times... the steak and egg now costs $105. while the price has increased, the size of the steak has shrunk by about 1/3. i know that inflation has driven up food costs, but let's be fair here.

onto other dishes... a relatively new menu item is the corned beef hash. don't even think about ordering it. it comes in a pile resembling canned dog food and the taste is about the same.

steak tartare, again, don't even go there. while i understand that it is raw beef, i have never had steak tartar which was sitting in a small pool of blood. on top of that, all of the ingredients came on the side of the plate. it was a DIY steak tartare. for the price Press Room charges, i expected more than a steak tartare DIY kit.

other notes... as mentioned by other reviewers, the service is horrible. it takes ages to get something as simple as a glass of water. every time i order something, i wonder if the server will get it right.

for the price point that Press Room targets, the quality of food and service fall far short of the target. some of the dishes are good, but they are not worth the price charged.

Have been to its restaurant right next to the cafe, was a disastrous experience, yet do try its coffee, well made and its hot choco was another nice treat, best accompanied with its lemon cake with melted cream on top, don't let its spongy texture deterred you from trying, please do and with a dip of the cream, the lightly lemon aroma blended pretty well with the drinks.Took a seat there while having a light warm chat with friends, or spread the newspaper on its exceptionally big wooden table wh

just went there for brunch last weekend, and it was better than expected! the french onion soup is topped with a huge chunk of cheese, which added lots of flavor to the soup.the corned beef was also very good and very tasty, will definitely go back there for that.we ordered fries as a side and they are excellent! however, the english breakfast was a bit disappointing, was kind of dry.service was overall good, and the price is reasonable.

Came for a light lunch. Had French Onion and Egg Benedict. Friend had Lobster Risotto.Eggs benedict only so-so. Maybe because recently had weekend brunch at Marriot, their's was extraordinary (kinda liked it more than the buffet foie gras..) French Onion soup was... crumbs! There was little soup, but on top a mound of crumbs, some cheese and under it was a slice of soaked baguette. It was more like a soaked bread with onion than a soup. I liked the risotto ok. Girl friend是中環地擔,  這裡是她highly recommended的.一進來就很喜歡暗暗卻不會很high end的感覺. 有點吵的casual dining好不熱鬧!Bread platter是烤的外脆內軟的4片bread loaf. 有點像sour dough可是又沒那麼酸. Lobster Risotto是必點之一. 好肯定龍蝦好新鮮! 有那麼肯定嗎?有!因為有輕微皮膚敏感的我, 吃完當晚手指就一直癢, 癢了幾天! 意大利米煮得比al dente還生,很有口感. 忌廉加"蝦膏"的醬汁味道濃而不咸, 鮮味中帶一點苦o急味. 一點都不膩, 還越吃越想吃呢。Fillet of Seabass with sauce vierge, pesto tagliatelle很香口, seabass很難弄的好吃, 最怕就是腥腥的. 他煎得外面乾身, 裡面卻保持到鮮甜的肉汁。Pesto寬條麵非常的al dente, 吃不關太硬的可以要求煮熟一點,我卻很喜歡這程度。Pesto不過多所以當然不會很油膩, 香草亦下得夠多. Even though I came here on a monday night, the place was 2/3 full.We ordered 2 cocktails to start it off, Belini (peach puree + champagne) and French 75 (gin, lemon juice and champagne). The Belini was very good, French 75 was a bit sour but still good. Overall drinks and wine prices were quite decent and not overpriced by too much. Even though I came here on a monday night, the place was 2/3 full.

We ordered 2 cocktails to start it off, Belini (peach puree + champagne) and French 75 (gin, lemon juice and champagne). The Belini was very good, French 75 was a bit sour but still good. Overall drinks and wine prices were quite decent and not overpriced by too much.

For starters we ordered the onion soup based on recommendations here, and it lived up to the high expectations! The thick baked cheese on top (gruyere I think) was decadent, the bread underneath not too soggy and the soup itself had intense flavors. It might be a bit heavy for those who don't like cheese that much, but I would definitely have it again. We also ordered the baby spinach salad which was also very good.

To save room for dessert, we ordered 2 starters for our main course, the lobster risotto (also based on recommendations here) and the black truffle fettuccine. Again the lobster risotto lived up to high expectations, the rice was cooked al-dente and just right, and the sauce tasted like a very concentrated lobster bisque. The black truffle fettuccine was on par, the rich creamy sauce complemented the truffles well. The truffles were shaved a bit too thick though, resulting in a hard bite.

We saved space for dessert, but this turned out to be the biggest disappointment of the night. We had the raspberry mille feuille and the orange tart. The raspberries were very sweet but they used plain whipped cream rather than custard cream, while the mille feuille pastry itself was too hard. As for the orange tart, the crust was quite good but the cream filling was way too sweet. Supposedly the pastry chef came from The Wolseley in London (I've been there and the food was amazing) so the poor quality of the desserts was really a big let down.

Many people here ranted about the poor service but I found the servers efficient and friendly. It's a bistro/cafe so it can get quite loud at times, but then it's not a fine dining place anyway. We spent around 900 for 2 people, would be around 650 without the drinks.

Would definitely come here again but only for the starters and main course

I am the kind of fanatics towards Egg Benedicts since I had my best one in Post 97, then I have begun my search for a better one in town, neither frying pan nor brunch club can live to the standard. Have been walked passed this 'impressive' restaurant in my lost way up the central, and to be frank I'm really impressed by its cheese room and I'm definitely looking forward to have a try for its platter.AND YET my first touch of its restaurant pretty drove my away, who said its egg benedict is good

AND YET my first touch of its restaurant pretty drove my away, who said its egg benedict is good??? Simply from its look my jaw's already dropped with my eyes wide opened, not attractively tempting as it's used to be, my appetite was descended to abyss, credits only go to its bacon, real canadian bacon, come on of course they served the real one, remember its cheese room next door? However, with such a good companion, the dish was badly prepared with cold muffins and tasteless hollandaise sauce.

The smoked salmon bagel was another disappointment, where's the hell the 'fresh' salmon it should be? I presume that's the MAIN thing of the dish right?

What made this place WORST was the service, totally unbearable, for a connoisseurs asking for more details of dishes is simply a usual routine, don't give me those annoying looks man! And hey couldn't you guys simply ASK before clearing up the table in such a HURRY????

Am totally fed up with this place, NO NEXT TIME

Visited 2 times before, and tried its new menu under new chef last Tuesday.Food quality is very similiar, and the EXCELLENT dish still remains as the "US Prime Steak & frites". All of my friend tried a bit and agree the beef is cooked to perfection & the frites can be said as addictive!!!For appetizers, the foie gras is good, but perhaps its famous onion soup earns more credit.We tried the Le Grande seafood platter which surprisingly came out as just ok.Rather disappointing to see my favourite

上星期日同兩個朋友一聚,1:00pm訂的位也等了一會,可能是brunch的時間吧,很多一家大細,真的熱鬧非常,我同朋友講野都要大聲d!至於食物朋友推介了Press room Burger,肉質不錯...另外,我們點了Moules Frites,汁味道都幾香..但最吸引我就係他們的Egg Benedict,我一進餐廳便見到幾乎每檯都有,賣相吸引,仲用了我最愛的smoke salmon,隻蛋都好好味呀!

We totally had 7 people and order several dishes for sharing. The quality of food was fair and the total bill was $25xx. According to the price in the menu, I realized your restaurant should be category as a grand restaurant. However, the services were extremely bad even compared to the McDonald’s. I never saw any waitress to throw all the coins exchange on the table. What is the meaning for that action? Not welcome or dissatisfied for not enough tips??

Never back to this restaurant again and highly not recommanded. For $3XX per person in Central, you can find better restaurant and have much worthy dishes, not only for burgers!!!

吃飯時候還要寫點東西,想找一處地方吃點簡單的東西,記起這裡有一個半露天的咖啡吧,環境也不錯的,就一個人來。坐在大木檯的一邊,幾舒適。要了Club Sandwich及泡沫咖啡,前者用上了烘麥多士,夾上煙肉、芝士、煙火腿、生菜及蕃茄,簡單得來,卻又美味,是一個不錯的方便餐;泡沫咖啡奶泡香濃,綿滑挺身,很對辦。咖啡偏苦,也好,正是下午時段的提神劑。埋單八十蚊,不便宜,但就吃得滿意。走的時候才發現,原來這裡僻了一室作芝士房,都有廿幾款芝士供應,在本地的餐廳來說,有此陣容,不簡單。

坐在大木檯的一邊,幾舒適。要了Club Sandwich及泡沫咖啡,前者用上了烘麥多士,夾上煙肉、芝士、煙火腿、生菜及蕃茄,簡單得來,卻又美味,是一個不錯的方便餐;泡沫咖啡奶泡香濃,綿滑挺身,很對辦。咖啡偏苦,也好,正是下午時段的提神劑。

埋單八十蚊,不便宜,但就吃得滿意。

走的時候才發現,原來這裡僻了一室作芝士房,都有廿幾款芝士供應,在本地的餐廳來說,有此陣容,不簡單。
