After visiting Yoroniku in Tokyo and Vanne in Taipei we went to Wagyu Vanne HK with high anticipation, and I am sorry to report it was a major disappointment.
To summarize- the overall experience was unprofessional, rude, and arrogant.
We are a party of 2, and ordered the set menu which was HKD 1,000+ per person, and a bottle of sake.
After 30 mins of waiting time, no tea, no food or even the sake was not served, we patiently waited for another 10 minute before asking the staffs about the order. With very little apathy the staffs gave us some lukewarm tea, and opened the bottle of sake, and yet no food was served. We kindly requested to talk to the manager to understand the situation, but instead of coming over personally, the manager brushed us off with his staff. Another 10 mins passed with no food at sight, we decided to ask for the staffs again, more excuses for the delay, and eventually after more than 50 mins of wait the first dish was served- it was a small dish of kimchi and some preserved vegetable. Which would normally take less than 5 minutes to serve. We demanded to talk to the manager, but again he was too busy to answer our request. In the end, it is beyond us to understand why a yakiniku restaurant from Japan could be so slow, disorganized, and inattentive, and decided our HKD 3000+ would be best spent elsewhere, and left the restaurant.
I personally believe there are a handful of restaurants in Hong Kong that would serve equally good food, provide better service, with better value for pocket than Wagyu Vanne. Do not visit if you are looking for an enjoyable time, the do however serve a HKD 388- 90 mins all you can eat option which may appeal to those who do not require any basic service. Leave it at there, and dont expect more.
