It was a Tuesday night around 21:30 and I was able to walk in and be seated right away.I was greatly craving some dumplings so after much consideration, I decided to go simple with the pork and leek dumplings(10).After I placed my order the wait was around 10 minutes. It was a Tuesday night around 21:30 and I was able to walk in and be seated right away.

I was greatly craving some dumplings so after much consideration, I decided to go simple with the pork and leek dumplings(10).

After I placed my order the wait was around 10 minutes.

Pork and Leek Dumplings: I first tried the dumpling without anything so I could thoroughly asses. The dumpling skin was just right on thickness, had a slight chew, but not too much dough to overwhelm the flavors that were stuffed inside. The pork flavor was very mild and you could faintly taste the leek. A few other flavor notes were present, ginger, soy sauce, and vinegar. I found myself having to add vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil to make the dumplings to my liking(which I always do, so no points off for that). I find the condiments that come with the dumplings to be very important in this case, I was very saddened to taste that the chili oil itself was very bland, especially in the heat category. The dumplings just didn’t have that next level taste to me and we’re just okay. Would have liked to see a lot more flavor come from the stuffing but the actual wrapper was executed very well.

The single waitress was overwhelmed with running back to get orders and take orders so getting her to actually take the order took awhile.

I accompanied a friend for a off peak late lunch at 2:30pm and the restaurant was practically empty.  We have only ordered $76 of food and didn't realize that there is a minimum charge of $80.  The rude waitress didn't tell us.  However, we were asked to pay $80 when we settled the bill.  We didn't mind the extra $4 but the rude waitress should have informed us so that we may order a bit more. Instead, they just charged us $80.It's ridiculous that a place that serves bad food, a bit filthy with

It's ridiculous that a place that serves bad food, a bit filthy with extremely rude staffs has minimum charge during non peak hours.   

Both the stir fried noodles and dumplings were cold. You could hardly find a tiny piece of meat in the noodle. Should rename it to vegetarian stir fried noddles instead.....definitely not the Shanghainese noodles that I have tried elsewhere.

As for hygiene, there was a piece of dried green onion still sticking to the spoon, which was not properly washed.

嗰日響附近睇完中醫(等+睇都兩粒鐘),下午茶時間先搵野食。Mr C話之前食過呢間啲餃子好掂。好啦,黎試下啦!太肚餓啦。決定要個麵加個餃子share 食(要留肚食晚飯)!雞絲冷麵$48 + 豆漿 $10個麵好大碗,分量多。係撈花生醬。有啲似雞絲粉皮既味道。但係。。 新鮮得制,暖暖的。。其實冷麵上枱暖暖的真係扣分。不過撈下撈下,發覺雞既分量好夠,仲要係雞腿。正!加返分俾佢!哈哈!另外叫咗個豆漿~ 白菜豬肉水餃(10隻)$48 呢個水餃,好就好在餡多肉實多汁,但係皮唔夠薄。還可以啦。啲汁真係勁架。記住食既時候小心啲。我“必”曬啲汁出黎。如果想快食,呢樹幾好。又唔貴。ok 啦!

個麵好大碗,分量多。係撈花生醬。有啲似雞絲粉皮既味道。但係。。 新鮮得制,暖暖的。。其實冷麵上枱暖暖的真係扣分。不過撈下撈下,發覺雞既分量好夠,仲要係雞腿。正!加返分俾佢!哈哈!另外叫咗個豆漿~

其實唔係第一次黎,每次同胞同事都愛黎。特別係食餃子!其實最抵食係叫10隻餃子,但又可以叫五隻餃子加麵。 餃子加個豆板醬就最好食!今次我同朋友叫咗10隻韭菜餃+北方炸醬麵一齊share,炸醬麵裏面有青瓜、肉同南瓜,啲南瓜係炸醬麵,食落都幾特別。所以可以encore 再encore!(12點黎食最好,唔洗咁迫)

這家「好客山東」地點不好, 縮了在窄巷, 本打算支持小店, 怎知吃了一肚氣 !點了羊肉餃, 炸醬面, 粗炒, 醬豬手, 食物一般, 粗炒淡而無味, 無色, 不見肉絲, 是食過最差的粗炒 !衛生也是差劣, 烏蠅滿天飛 !伙記態度極其差劣, 尤其是其中一個體型極其肥胖的女仕應, 粗言穢語, 毫無禮貌該店老闆娘不但冇阻止,更趕我哋走,不可理喻!小弟在此呼籲, 切勿惠顧此餐廳!Very BAD restaurant! We ordered a stir fried noodles with beef and spring onion, a shredded chicken noodles (served cold!)and a cup of soya milk. My favorite of the meal has to be the cold noodles which is served with sesame sauce, cucumber and shredded "ShanDong" chicken, the well braised chicken is well balanced by freshness of the cucumber and the plain noodles, which is then topped off with a light sesame sauce.

Definitely one of the best lunch options around, not to mention the awesome salted chili and garlic paste (豆瓣醬) they offer to supplement your dishes.

晚上在家想簡單吃點便宜晚餐,便想起了家裏附近的餃子店。致電過去點了白菜豬肉餃子10件及鮮魚餃子10件。去到店舖付錢是有點驚訝,比起我以往付的價錢多了差不多$20,共$124!每件餃子超過$6!白菜豬肉餃子雖然加價幅度有點驚人,但餃子的質素仍然良好。餃子內的豬肉分量十足用料新鮮,餡料多汁,餃皮幼滑鮮魚餃子鮮魚餃子粒粒非常飽滿,內裏的魚肉及蔬菜份量驚人,一點魚腥味也沒有我在別家也沒有吃過這樣好的鮮魚餃子。

好juicy!啲肉汁多到流岀黎,而啲豬肉新鲜,好有豬味,味道剛剛好!


不过我嗰魚肉餃同素菜餃仲未黎……

等等等,等左15分鐘終於有啦~就咁望,白啲嗰個係魚肉餃,我當然試左先。都幾特别,有啲似魚蛋,但比鱼蛋更滑同更有魚味~好得worrrr


到素菜餃啦~一啲都唔dry~入面有菜,木耳,菇,粉絲同蘿白~好豐富同好好味!
好感動!我第一次食到咁正嘅素菜餃!
我都唔洗點醋都咁好味~
下次想食素可以黎啦~

聽同事講公司附近有間餃子店都幾好味,外邊做完野要返公司,過左lunch hour繁忙時間,趁無乜人就去試下。餃子唔算好多款,不過較少見既北方餃,例如:芹菜餃、羊肉餃、魚餃,不過就有d貴,所以都係點個韮菜餃、山東鹵麵、蔥油餅。隊長唔係北方人,不過都知北方餃子個皮都比較厚,呢到都一樣係厚皮,不過食落就唔夠juicy,韮菜唔夠香,如果唔落豉油會唔夠味,如果用甘既價錢,我會覺附近得皇后街果檔好食好多,同埋正宗好多。至於個山東鹵麵,其實係蕃茄蛋麵,隊長曾經係山東飲過一個超好飲既蕃茄蛋花湯,好有蕃茄同雞蛋既原味,不過呢到既蕃茄蛋麵就淡而無味,只係d蛋幾滑,但無蛋味。蔥油餅就⋯⋯可能我食慣上海果種口味,唔知山東咩口味,只係覺得好似炸餅甘,雖然唔油,但炸到好硬,餡亦好少,賣$32/兩個,超唔抵。未至於好難食,不過唔抵食,我寧願行多2步返皇后街搵食

This restaurant serves traditional Northern Chinese food. They are mainly providing dumplings with different flavors and noodles.  Its location is quite different to find if you do not live in Sheung Wan. It would be better if they can make a distinguished board at main roads guiding the visitors how to get in.  In weekdays you might need to wait outside in rush hours. Luckily I went there on Saturday so the waiting time is not that long. The waiters speak Madarin but the waitress can understand

Luckily I went there on Saturday so the waiting time is not that long. The waiters speak Madarin but the waitress can understand Cantonese. But you can point out what you wanna eat coz the menu had both Chinese and English version. We ordered two noodles with pork + leek dumplings and lamb dumplings (the two most traditional flavors in the Northen China). The dumplings was juicy, and the wrapping pasta is thin, The leek flavor is strong and freshy, which you would hate if you doesnt love leek. The soup was not salty and the noodles are probably cooked. Each costs around $50, which I think it is a bit overpriced. The lunch finished within 30 mins so it is definitely a good place for quick lunch.
For tea-time, most people will just order ten dumplings (some might order two flavors in one dishes but it is only available for dinner).

今次我同友人叫左羊肉餃同埋韭菜餃。餃子係店家自己包(好似係), 一咬好多肉汁,我一咬落去d汁彈到對面既人,搞到勁唔好意思 ^^"入到去,樓面唔係特別grand, 但係都唔係特別up dup. 平日lunch time時間座無虛席,唔好諗住有位擺袋。叫野果時,店員同你講普通話,但係你講廣東話佢都聽得明。店內其他顧客,大部份都係操煲東瓜,可見lee度d餃子既質素。至於愛國,係因為店內有個電視,一播到d 新聞,關於內地呀民主呀之類果d 新聞,店員都會比自己comment回應,所以你入到去就會feel到愛國氛圍~~ Anyways, 食野姐,d餃子好味就得啦。建議一講政治就扯火的朋友就唔好去喇

Northern style dumpling shops in Hong Kong typically have not aged well for me. The more time I spend in mainland China, and the more my Chinese in-laws cook dumplings  for me, the less impressed I am by dumpling places that in the past did the trick. This place, though, is an exception. My wife and I first went to Ho Hak Shan Tung (literally meaning "Hospitable Shandong") maybe two years ago, and we were impressed. This place, though, is an exception. My wife and I first went to Ho Hak Shan Tung (literally meaning "Hospitable Shandong") maybe two years ago, and we were impressed. But, we were both pessimistic about its fate, as these places tend to come and go, and since it is on a pretty awkward and unpleasant street, being basically impossible to see from the two busier roads that flank it. We stumbled upon it by dumb luck, but lots of people would have to do the same to keep this place floating. At any rate, part of the reason I went in this time was just that I was surprised it was still open, and curious about how it aged.

The first thing you'll notice about this place is that it's run by Mandarin speakers, which is a very good sign. The second thing you'll notice is that there will also be Mandarin-speaking customers---another good sign. The people running the shop strike me as a family---a third good sign---which, to me anyway, really brings out the classic "family run Chinese restaurant" vibe that you would actually get in mainland China. I guess what I mean is that i feels more like a proper Chinese dumpling shop that just so happens to be in Hong Kong, and not a Hong Kong restaurant that just so happens to serve dumplings, if that makes any sense.

I don't think we ever ordered from the side of the menu pictured above. For us, this place is all about the dumplings and noodles, on the side pictured below. It has your standard array of dumpling varieties, but with one surprising addition: vegetarian dumplings! I opt for veggie options more and more these days so I figured I'd give them a try, and I was glad that I did. Otherwise though my order was fairly traditional: ye olde boiled dumpling noodle soup.

The soup itself was the least impressive part  of the bowl, and gave off a salty dishwater vibe. That's not so important though. Once you load it up with vinegar and chili sauce, and mix around your dumplings and noodles, it turns into something much better as the meal goes on. And yes, they have the right kind of black vinegar, not the typical Cantonese red vinegar some of the less authentic places try to pass off as dumpling vinegar. 
The noodles were quite good. This kind of noodle typically doesn't impress me, often being soft and kind of tasteless, but these were actually memorable. There's a distinct flour taste you get from white noodles in mainland China that I was happy to notice here. Coupled with their pleasant texture---neither over nor under cooked---I can say they were a very good call.

The veggie dumplings were excellent. They were full of a lovely mix of carrots, glass noodles, and, I want to say, spinach, but I'm honestly not sure. They were lovely anyway, and the homemade skin gets me every time.

As a place for lunch noodles and dumplings, I think it's pretty solid. My bowl cost $52, which is a bit steep, but the quality is there and you definitely won't leave hungry, as the noodle portion is quite generous alongside five boiled dumplings. Will for sure return.
