Went to Hakka YeYe with a friend. We ordered a lot of dishes coz we were also taking the leftover home for my bf. Here are our reviews of the dishes:1. Went to Hakka YeYe with a friend. We ordered a lot of dishes coz we were also taking the leftover home for my bf.
Here are our reviews of the dishes:

1. Stir-fry Eggplant Cubes with Tofu (Slightly Spicy) 茄子粒豆腐 : the no meat option...it's pretty tasty, we liked the crunchy tofu;
2. Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables 西施梅菜扣肉: That's definitely the highlight of the night, the fatty pork is super yummy, melt in your mouth...
3. Pan Fried Pork Patties with Salted Fish Bits 魚香煎肉餅 : the taste of the patties is really good, but it's slightly over-done, it's a bit burned...
4. Stir-fry Bitter Melon Strips with Egg White 芙蓉涼瓜: this is definitely no my dish, but my friend wanted bitter melon. The egg white was placed separately on top of the bitter melon, which is a bit strange. The bitter melon was poached, so making it a bit watery.
5. Golden Pumpkin Cooked with Salted Egg Yolks 鹹蛋黃炒南瓜: this is another winner, love the salted egg yolks as the crust of the pumpkin cubes.
6. Yé Yé Fried Vermicelli with Hakka Rice Wine 爺爺糟汁炒米粉: a strong tasting vermicelli, I like the rice wine taste, but it doesn't seem to fit in with the vermicelli that well.
Free dessert soup of purple rice with coconut milk, very nice.
The overall dining experience was very pleasant with nice service, quite environment, and good food.
But this is the strange part: we took the leftover home. I made a special thing about leaving two big pieces of fatty pork for my boyfriend (he's a fatty pork person). When we got home, there was no fatty pork in the box
! Only a small chewy bit and the preserved veggies!!!!!
That makes you wonder whether they are re-serving the fatty pork to someone else!!!!

與男友撐枱腳,食肆環境非常優雅有情調,我們非常喜歡這樣寧靜的就餐環境。服務員態度非常友好,主動周到。叫了蘿蔔丸子、青瓜漕汁蝦和客家爺爺羅漢齋煲。醤汁非常特別,菜式精緻,本人特別喜歡蘿蔔丸子,口感特爽;男友則大愛青瓜漕汁蝦,爽而不膩。值得一讚!

Amongst the many hidden gems of restaurants in Central, this one would ...just make the mark. Overall it was a pleasant experience, the first reason being its good value. Don't expect very wholesome portions, but for lunch, spending ~HK$100 for all courses of soup/spring roll, 1 dish 1 bowl of rice and dessert/fruit certainly qualifies. Plus the fact that the food, particularly the main course dish, tastes quite good, above average for sure. And don't forget its little gimmick of "Hakka" cuisine

Overall it was a pleasant experience, the first reason being its good value. Don't expect very wholesome portions, but for lunch, spending ~HK$100 for all courses of soup/spring roll, 1 dish 1 bowl of rice and dessert/fruit certainly qualifies. Plus the fact that the food, particularly the main course dish, tastes quite good, above average for sure. And don't forget its little gimmick of "Hakka" cuisine, which isn't very commonly found around HK I'd say?

Ambience ok, it's cute. Service ... ok I suppose. Took their time in giving us our bill, but there was a genteel-looking waiter who really fits what I would imagine as a "Hakka yeye", and was courteous and all.

We had the 鹽焗雞,百合蝦球, and separately ordered a dish of 雞翼(i don't seem to hv enough of chicken as of late), plus veggies. Erm, for two ppl haha. And we had our separate bowls of 三色飯, which I do appreciate for health reasons and not just your boring bowl of white rice. Anyway, I'd say the 鹽焗雞 and 百合蝦球 were certainly above average (4/5), but the chicken wings...can be given a miss. Portions, as I have alluded briefly above, are not huge. But enough, I guess.

Dessert was a bowl - small bowl - of 紫米露. Mm...given my sweet tooth...I'd say it's only mediocre.

Anyway, worth a shot! Or a backup plan to Friday lunch if you haven't made reservations in time...

上星期五和男友慶祝生日,因為男友喜愛食客家菜,而自己又想搵一間有格調的餐廳和他慶祝,所以訂左中環客家爺爺。一上到去見環境十分優美,跟住叫食物。客家最出名的豆腐煲,梅菜扣肉,霸爺雞。梅菜扣肉-好乾無汁;霸爺雞-又咸又鞋;豆腐煲淡而無味...........差.....><

之前同朋友路經上址,見附近沒有什麼小菜館,所以上去試試,誰知一試真令人難忘。本人很喜愛吃扣肉,從前我在梅州食過很滋味,入口即溶。但在此店卻肉質又鞋又乾,味道淡,梅菜有渣。還有試那個霸爺雞,薑葱好咸,肉質鞋。從未吃過如此難吃的食物,真的不知道為什麼有那麼多的好評。還說是由客家人煮客家菜。如此食店食物,請自行檢討一下。

竹笙茄子豆腐:絕對是少油少鹽的素食,竹笙及豆腐用料幼細,茄子去皮只有中間部分,透明獻汁上,入口滑溜。

時果咕嚕肉:沒大酒樓的鑊氣,卻果味跟肉質分明,可惜菜式本身普通,下次可以不試。

霸爺雞 (半隻):雞皮薄而不肥膩,肉質入口微暖,伴薑絲蔥絲吃更有客家家鄉味道。

三色飯:健康之選,沒甚特別,不過若是"飯桶"的朋友,看來要多吃一碗,皆因份量極少。

綜合而言,菜式雖不算上上之選,但用料、煮法細心,加上味道清淡可口,這都已經令人印象深刻,加上有效率熟練有禮、不只顧熟客的態度;以至食店裝修格局,揉合了“客家爺爺”的中式底蘊及西式的簡約舒適。當然,中式酒樓的爽快自在、大夥兒氣氛是大路之選,而“客家爺爺”則是求氣氛、好靜的去處。

Although I’ve been in Hong Kong for nearly six months, I still feel like such an amateur restaurant hunter. I just can’t get my head around restaurants not being visible from the street and at eye level. So, lucky I was introduced to Haka YeYe by a local, otherwise I would never have found it.

Located on the second floor, when the elevator opens up the first thing you notice is the clean, fresh, modern interior and bright natural light coming from the windows facing Wyndham St.

I went for lunch with a colleague, and we had the set lunch. There were two set menu options to choose from, one for $72 +10%, and the other $90 + 10%. They are really great value. We both had the cheaper set, and for that price we had the option of soup or spring rolls for entrée, and a choice of three main courses plus rice for main. Dessert was also included. Now tell me that’s not a bargain!

We both had the soup to start with, which was really delicious. It was very light and I am told it was Chinese herbal soup. It had a light broth, which was white in colour and the soup had lean pieces of pork and some different Chinese ingredients that I don’t know the English names for (one was like a white yam, and the other was big pearls of barley). It really felt like a health soup. If I were in bed and sick at home, I would be very grateful for someone to bring me this.

For main course, we shared the “Chestnuts, pork ribs and chinese celery cooked in a claypot”, and “Pork mince and vegetables with vermicelli noodles”, which were served with two small bowls of mixed red and white rice. The pork ribs were so tender, the meat fell away from the bones and melted in my mouth. The gravy was flavoured mostly from the pork and also the celery and spring onions and was perfect with the rice. It was quite a hearty winter casserole. The noodles were okay, but nothing really to write home about.

Dessert was a choice of fresh melon, or sticky purple rice in soup, and we had one of each. Although the serving was small, the rice for me was a bit full on after such a hearty lunch. The fresh melon on the other hand was light and delicious.

The service provided by waiting staff was a bit haphazard, with tea being regularly refilled, but when we needed dessert and the bill there was no-one in sight. It will definitely be the setting and affordable lunch set that will bring me back to Haka YeYe. And also the fact that now I know of this hidden restaurant, hopefully one day I too will be able to show it off to someone who doesn’t know that the place to find restaurants in Hong Kong is actually above eye level.

4. 青瓜糟汁蝦 - 見到係menu上的推介,試下啦! 真係唔錯啊! 望落去好似唔算太吸引,但食落去真係另一樣野。蝦肉食落去幾有酸酸甜甜的味道,底下鋪左一條條青瓜條,面頭諗上橙色的糟汁....見到好多一粒粒ge野...開頭唔知係咩黎,問過waiter,原來係糯米渣,係浸糯米酒的渣,跟住再用依D渣拎去炒,整左個汁出黎,所以食落去有點兒清新得黎的糯米香!


5. 地道客家蛋角 - 諗住係一塊塊煎蛋角,點知黎到係一碗湯的...感覺有點怪..內裡有細細舊包到好似餃子形狀的蛋角,但包得好薄,入面好似有點肉,但食唔到係D咩咁..可能佢太細啦。跟住有D菇咁...唔抵食啊...成$8X (加埋一都要over $90,自己煮好過吧)...


飯後有糖水送,係紅棗雪耳糖水,約兩粒紅棗,雪耳真係俾得幾足的,好潤喉,very nice!


見到有不少外國人,亦見有人包左一邊場搞party,nice! =]
價錢其實係中環區唔算貴,加上環境都唔錯。服務態度亦好好!

久唔久都會去下呢到食午餐去,樓上來說,服務幾好,所以同事都鐘意來食下。食物不錯,可以試下D小炒,豬頸肉可以一試。我們也有叫雞,平淡,但好滑,又係正豆府煲都幾好,一樣都滑。佢有個湯,係是日湯,我飲了幾次,都係青紅蘿白豬骨湯,都OK各樣都唔錯,唯一唔好係D碟頭細D,可能唔係好夠食。

朋友早就推薦這間位於雲咸街的客家菜,難得和兩名老饕聚首,開胃菜是蘇富比的VIP cocktail,開完眼界,增長見識後,以那枚完美的藍鑽石為finger food喝了一杯不錯的白酒,然後以最佳狀態欣賞客家爺爺的手藝。在二樓的餐廳格調高雅,清幽的裝潢給人耳目一新的感覺,服務生的黑色制服也不落俗套。舒適地坐下,先享用那夠火候且清甜的紅蘿蔔粟米湯,相信一定熬了好幾個小時吧?像住家菜一樣新鮮又不油膩,令人有喝「媽媽熬的湯水」的感覺(像某品牌的湯水廣告嗎?)蘿蔔丸子非常特別,咬下去時香甜軟膩,白蘿蔔絲和漿粉的比例剛好,不過要趁熱吃,冷掉便變成蘿蔔味的粉團了。釀豆腐和通菜有一定水準,嫩滑新鮮的霸爺雞也比市面上的鹽焗雞白切雞來得有特色。一定要試試這兒的客家式蛋角,小巧的蛋角浸在雜菇清湯裏,賣相清新,別以為會把蛋浸軟了,入口時保持厚實煙靭的質感,像剛煎好的小omelette。不得不提那出色的糯米酒,盛載的酒瓶和杯子像張口的鯉魚就已經夠可愛了,暖暖的糯米酒入口香醇,竟帶一點port或sherry的感覺,想來應該很得女孩子的歡心吧?店主說糯米酒和砵酒雪利酒一樣可以小喝補身,難怪給人的感覺很相似呢!甜品腐竹

服務非常貼心,不會一下子把所有的菜都堆到桌上,添茶斟酒都殷勤熨貼,我們食完後東拉西扯天南地北的閒聊,也沒有絲毫不耐煩或暗示食客「我們打烊了」的動作或言語。美中不足的是,地點不太方便,如果不乘計程車,就要從蘭桂坊的「山腳」一直「攀」到山頂,對行動不便的人來說會有點困難。

Hi this is my first post since I got back from Beijing Anyway, tried out this restaurant for lunch and it was really good.Went for the chicken set lunch, which consisted of vegetable soup, chicken, tofu (my friend ordered that), rice and dessert as the last dish.The vegetable soup was delicious and not too salty. Anyway, tried out this restaurant for lunch and it was really good.

Went for the chicken set lunch, which consisted of vegetable soup, chicken, tofu (my friend ordered that), rice and dessert as the last dish.

The vegetable soup was delicious and not too salty. The chicken was delectable, perfect amount of meat and not too salty. The tofu was the best in my opinion as it was covered in the nice soup and tasted healthy. The rice was made of traditional brown rice and tasted nice. The dessert was a bit too sweet though.

All in all, it was a good meal. Service was alright and the meal was not too expensive!

本來想說中環LKF通常都係食西餐,飲酒個 d,點知黎到雲咸街呢棟大廈有中菜食。幾個女仔叫了:蘿蔔丸子 - 有點像湯丸,一咬落去滿是蘿蔔蘿蔔絲,煙煙韌韌!咸蛋黄抄南瓜 - 南瓜不會淋,有點爽,咸蛋黄亦不太咸。豆腐煲肉碎煲 - 豆腐不會很容易就爛晒,可以整件食。一鍋生菜 - 有 d 啡色既豆墊底幾煙韌煎雞翼 / drumstick - 略乾真的估唔到咁就夠我地幾個多仔食啦。蘿蔔丸子墊肚係唔同 d。這裡的環境都幾舒服,又抵食值得再黎過!

星期六晚book左檯黎試. 之前同屋企人講響中環食客家野, 佢地第一個反應係: 係咪卑鬼佬食架? 卑鬼佬食個d又貴又唔好食wor! =.=入到去發覺都幾full下. 幾鍾意佢modern 裝修. 坐位亦舒服. 見成班鬼佬響裏面, 唔係真係卑鬼佬食嘛?!?! 選擇都算多, 比較鍾意梅菜扣肉: 肉夠淋~ 甜甜地好味. 山渣糖水: 送的. 酸酸地幾開胃. 但唔係特別好飲.

Not easy to find the exact location, the best way is you walk along Wyndham Street toward LFK and keep on looking up you'll see their name plate by the window...
Was a bit surprised that by the time we arrived, at around 730pm we were the only table there...it's Saturday night....and we werer the second last to leave at about 1030pm so totally there were a bit 5 reservation, mostly couples..
The Birthday dinner menu included:
Soup of the day the Pak Choi and Dried Pak Choi with Pork and chinese ham - like a home made soup strong flavour luckily didn't taste any traces of MSG..
Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetable - a very traditional dish quite tasty though a bit too sweet.
Stir-fried Bitter Melon with egg white - quite a healthy choice but not much taste on the egg white.
Stuffed Tofu with minced pork - another home made dish served in a clay pot
Emperor Chicken - Steam Chicken topped with Shredded Ginger and Green Onion - the name explains all, anyway the chicken was very tender and not overly salted.
Brown/white rice - a nice proportion of both , another healthy choice
Dessert - complementary sago sweet soup with coconut milk and water melon...very blend actually..

Frankly their food are tasty but not memorable it's really hard for me to make any recommendations
Service though only 2 servers was quite courteous, wonder if it's because the dining room was not that busy
