So I've been to torihana once when I was feeling a bit under the weather - namely because I wanted ramen and though maybe a chicken soup broth is better for me than the pork bone broth. It was delicious. The second time I went yesterday I wanted what I normally would order - the spicy ramen in their spiciest strength ranked "strong" - wow it was a crazy amount of spice. The second time I went yesterday I wanted what I normally would order - the spicy ramen in their spiciest strength ranked "strong" - wow it was a crazy amount of spice. I'm always complaining how places in Hong Kong always call their dishes 'spicy' when they actually aren't but they were not kidding here. It was phenomenal. The broth alternated between the spice and the chicken broth flavors smoothly. The noodle options were 'straight' or 'curly' I chose the curly and those noodles were indeed as promised springy, chewy and absorbed the broth better than the straight ones. The 'chicken char siu' may not be for everyone I feel but I liked the uniqueness of it.
The toppings were very minimal of asparagus lotus root onion and green onion by they worked well. The other toppings like egg and black fungus were additional charge - but there was a pot of spicy bean sprouts on the table unlimited and free of charge - fantastic!
It was the best $80 bowl of ramen I've had!
