Buffet option is not recommended. ~200hkd per person
* Buffet section not well stocked. For the duration of the meal, nothing was restocked.
* Mains were more like micro tapas. Uneeded portion control combined with poor plating exacerbated the negative experience. If the mains are micro size then plate them accordingly OR don't call them 'mains'.
* Slow service and delivery. My dining companion and I had to leave and eat elsewhere. It just took too long.
To owner:
* I recommend getting rid of the buffet option. It is clear that the back of the house cannot keep up with stocking the buffet line AND also doing made-to-order mains. You need to choose one or the other so you can focus on improving food quality.
* Plating needs A LOT of work. Your cookery is acceptable, but presentation is below average. It needs to match your decor. The a-la-carte presentation matched that of a low-end cafe with a steak sloppily placed on top of frozen french fries. Don't be lazy, plate them separately.
* Invest in some pest control. The mosquito problem really dampens the ambiance and environment you've nicely setup. Diners were more worried about getting bitten than enjoying their meal.
* When items are 86'd (sold out), the back of the house needs to clearly communicate that with the front of the house. We witnessed an embrarrissing back and forth conversation about what items were sold out in the dining area. Check stock before and in-between rushes.
We really want you to succeed. Sham Tseng desparately needs more food options. Good luck.
