FINALLY got to try out this restaurant that I'd bookmarked for sometime - just to discover that one was going to open much nearer to home in a week's time. But I guess prices would be higher at the Caine Road branch. Can't wait to try!
I wonder if they let willing customers tickle these ivories. Such a waste if it merely serves aesthetic purposes...
Service: Average. The pace of serving was moderate. They were not in a rush to get people out of the resto because there weren't many, really. It's too remotely located. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Food: Both of us went for the set lunch (which wasn't really a 'set'...coz we paid extra for every additional item on top of the entree...) Salad of the day+$20
I like the presentation. Rustic and no fuss, full of fresh goodness. I do believe all the veg was sourced within a 10km radius. You can really taste the difference. The salad wasn't drenched in a sauce so overpowering as to mask the natural veg flavour. Constituents
The rice required a lot of chewing. The texture was similar to that of risotto. The curry was only mildly spicy, but very flavourful and aromatic. The capsicums were sweet and juicy. We cleared up every last drop of curry with penne. Super, super carby. But you feel healthy after eating it. Heh.
Penne was al dente - really, really good. I do not care much for fresh pasta. We thought tomato sauce meant red sauce but no, here it meant an evenly cubed, lightly cooked tomato medley. They came in red, green and yellow. Loved it. The tomatoes yielded their natural juices which became part of the very light 'sauce' coating every strand of pasta. Another extremely 'feel-good' kind of dish. Not filling at all.
Very, very rich and substantial. The body wasn't very smooth, but was extremely dense and quite chunky. It was almost like eating cream cheese. Even denser than cream cheese. D: I liked the flavour though, almost slightly savoury. I loved the sweet, fresh basil which went surprisingly well with the cheesecake and strawberries. The compote, sadly, was too sweet and sticky. I would've preferred a lighter, more natural sauce. The best thing about this dish has got to be the interaction between herb and fruit.
Conclusion: The interesting thing about this meal was: both H and I did not feel full. Very queer. So we had to order the cheesecake in lieu of the set lunch dessert (a small panna cotta with a mini fruit salad which I could've downed in one gulp) and only after the cheesecake did we feel, mm, we can go. Is it good or bad? But we did not feel very hungry quickly after the meal.
Will certainly visit the Caine Road branch. Sheung Shui is a bit too far. Hope more restaurants such as these pop up around town!

Cauliflower soup (6/10): I can't hear the waiter clearly, so it's probably cauliflower+ potato, and it's really creamy, with the fresh breads along, it's a good start!
Signature salad w/ mango x honey dressing (6/10): The variety of greens found in this dish with the figs and pine nuts were so great! I remember when my brother refused to eat any greens when young, obviously now we are fighting over this lovely dish LOL
Risotto w/ chicken (7/10): Well...I am quite sure I read the word "chicken" from the menu, but it turned out w/o any significant chicken parts....so our guess is that "chicken is minced or used when cooking the sauce"! Nonetheless, it's still a very nice dish, but it's better to be shared, as risotto could fill up the stomach easily.
Penne w/ tomatoes (5/10): We were expecting it to be tomato sauce....but then it turns out to be penne with something more like pesto sauce and ermmmmmmmm a small amount of tomatoes The dish had too much oil (guess it's olive oil), therefore it's again a shared dish.
Quinoa w/ creamy sauce (8/10): It's a baked quinoa and the best dish at our lunch. I have never eaten quinoa before, but the texture and taste from this is so good! The diced bell pepers and zucchinis on top absorbed the creamy sauce, which is nice as well!
Cheesecake w/ passion fruit (5/10): The dessert was not that impressive, but personally I like the taste of the cheesecake, which was not that sweet, and the sourness of the passion fruit relieved the fullness after the meal!
Overall Food: Price matched with food quality (at least for lunch), particularly when some of the stuffs are selected from organic farms and through fair trade, it's good to know they are supporting these groups Service: Nice waiters/ waitress, responsive and ready to answer questions Environment: Who could say "no" to restaurants with high ceilings? The whole environment is spacious enough, and if you prefer outdoor, there are a few tables right around the corner!

There's a minor incident, which was we ordered an apple juice, but then even after 1.5 hours of dining, no one ever informed us it's sold out.
It's only until we asked them then we knew, would be better if the staffs could take the initiative next time.

I loved the cute presentation of this dessert, it came with a mini silver plated plastic spoon too! Anyway it was sweet smooth milky tasting panna cotta at the bottom covered with delicious fruity strawberry sauce on top. A real treat from IPC because Fanling is too far and I don't know how to get to Fanling. ★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
