A new Thai place opened in the Haven Street area called Peek-A-Chill. The interior is spacious though not a lot of seats. There are some facing the window. The vibe is obviously chill as they play hip hop in the background. They have a lunch menu but when I arrived, they had just started the afternoon tea menu. The tea menu only costs $58 and includes a starter, main and drink. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge and you order by scanning a QR code which is also in Engl

I ordered the Pratnum Hainanese Chicken with Rice. This came with a chicken soup that was fine and there was a piece of daikon in it.
For my appetizer, I chose the Fried Shrimp Cake. This came as two balls that were just gleaming with oil. It sat on top of the sweet sauce and not served separately. The balls were balls of oil. If not for the oil, I think it would have tasted ok.
Then came the main event. And it was dry. Everything was dry. The chicken was dry and tough. I've never had Hainan chicken here in Hong Kong to be this dry. There wasn't much flavour. I ordered chicken rice and I got plain rice. I asked and they said this is the chicken rice. I also didn't get any dipping sauce and I saw the next table didn't get it either so I assume that is the norm here. Possibly the worst chicken rice I've had in the city.
The Thai ice lemon tea I ordered also wasn't very good. The vibe maybe chill but the food is definitely not a blast. Will not be back.
