緊接到Main course!呢個時候真係越食越失望!
叫咗French spring chicken with glutinous rice同sea urchin spaghetti with lobster。首先講吓個雞,冇特別,相都廢事影。但個飯真係不得了,簡直可以媲美飛機餐嘅糯米雞!我未喺一間餐廳食過咁淋嘅糯米飯。定係我唔識欣賞?朋友話可能佢fusion菜想整到好似risotto咁。但係,risotto都唔係咁淋呀嘛?
之後到spaghetti,食落去係有少少海膽味,但我一舊海膽都見唔到。個意粉簡直可以用難食嚟形容,點解可以咁乾?用一隻叉已經可以叉起成嚿意粉。冇錯,我係用”嚿”嚟形容。可想而知有幾乾。龍蝦就普普通通,唔霉但都唔係新鮮。

嘢食真係十分之咁普通,唔好太高期望。份量少,價錢唔係特別平,服務態度亦唔算特別好。總結,唔會再返去。Bye~

聽朋友介紹去呢間法國fusion 香港菜。其實食物方面都還可以既, 例如所謂代表菜式, 法國春雞配上味飯底,味道係幾好, 好有廟街排檔味道,不過收差不多$400。 其他幾樣菜式都係差呢類做法,法式加少少粵菜既材料。但有樣野佢地就好有地道特色啦,雖然收緊貴過酒店既價錢但係比到大排檔既服務比你。由其是其中一位重量級女服務員,行埋黎已經好有氣勢。點左兩個main course 後,呢位阿姊即以澳牛式語氣提示我地叫得野少,同埋話加單會好耐架。食完main course ,問佢攞個dessert menu 睇,望左大約兩分鐘,阿姊即時又催促我地,你地要dessert就快手啦,我8:30要收枱俾人㗎。(當時8點)。 我都係第一次食法國菜得到如此粗魯的對待,登時嘆為觀止。最後埋單四位都要二千幾,真係做到價格高檔,服務低檔。

Beautiful restaurant, the front was decorated almost to a stage setting with the Christmas wreath and spotlights. The inside was pretty too, except there was a long beam of light on the walls which made the person sitting facing the wall to have that bright laser of light in their face all evening. The fois gras stuffed chicken wing was ok, juicy.

The prawn toast was very little toast but a flavorful fried prawn with salmon roe on top. With those ingredients, this one can't fail.


The rib eye with salted egg yolk powder was good but not too special.

The chicken with glutinous rice was just okay, maybe because we have been having wonderful chicken and rice dishes at other restaurants and it didn't meet our expectations. The chicken was a bit small, although tender but tasted mild.The rice was mushy and almost tasted like porridge.


Happy hour was great, buy 1 get 1. Overall pleasant and worth another try.

We will give it another go next time trying other dishes.

There were six of us and we had to go with the set menu. Considering the food we had, $500 was good value for money. The place was cozy and service was friendly. Corkage was $250/bottle. Snack:-Shrimp toast, house pickled onions, salmon roe: love this appetizer with the extra touch of roe on top the shrimp toast. -Chicken Liver Mousse, Iberico Ham, Honey Madeleines: sweet and savory combo. Liver and ham went well together. The Madeleine was spongy and moist.Starters:-Yunnan Morels In Soya Bean

-Yunnan Morels In Soya Bean Hummus: one of the best (if not the best) hummus served in HK. The consistency and the flavor were both spot on. The morels had intense flavor and gave the hummus an extra kick.
-Foie gras stuffed chicken wings, sweet and sour sauce: wing was crisp on the outside and tender inside.
-Spicy creamy clams with black bean chive oil: generous portion of clams. Didn’t think it jived with the set menu. Flavor was more like a SE Asian dish despite the black bean ....
-Beef tartare: coarsely chopped; simply delicious with the sourdough. Plenty of yolk to coat the beef.
Main:
-Signature roasted French spring chicken, glutinous rice stuffing- served in a cast iron pot. Chicken was tender and well marinated. The rice was not too sticky. Great comfort food.
Dessert: (forgot to take a photo)
-Pineapple Almond financier, Homemade Milk ice cream: was average I thought when compared to rest of the meal.

呢個菜式一落單個時會同你講因爲即叫即整,要等成45分鐘到,然後黎到你就會覺得呢45分鐘其實等得好值得🤤 隻燒春雞已經好貼心咁切開哂,香草既味道滲透哂入雞肉度,皮香肉嫩又多汁。個糯米飯充滿雞油香,仲有冬菇煙肉等配料,食落口感豐富煙韌又鹹香惹味。呢鍋飯其實真係唔算少,不過真係太好味,一個人食一半絕對唔係問題🤤🤤🤤

朋友生日指定要黎呢間Roots食生日飯,我地book左第2輪食8點。平時都中意閒逛日月星街,發掘多d具特色的創意小店、Café、餐廳等,在皇后大道東爬完一條又長又窄的樓梯就會到達日街,我地在街燈昏暗的小路上等候入座,特別有感覺。店内可以容納二十多人,全場滿座,大概等了15分鐘便入座。炸蓮藕脆片炸得金黃通透,少少苦味,後帶甘味,脆口而不膩,最適合做下酒菜。牛肉Tartare牛肉質感夠厚實,肉味香濃,再用上本地品牌余均益辣椒醬,酸香辣均衡,而牛肉Tartare上面的生雞蛋中和了辣味,感覺唔似食緊生牛肉haha,實在是很有趣的配搭!法式燒春雞配糯米飯再來法式燒春雞配糯米飯,完美地將本地粵菜元素混入法國菜內,春雞非常嫩滑,連雞胸都煮得好好味唔鞋口。糯米飯平時係酒樓食得多,今次呢種食法真係第一次,而且味道無酒樓咁濃味,反而有少少雞既鮮味,再食埋煲底的飯焦,脆卜卜無得頂。

再來法式燒春雞配糯米飯,完美地將本地粵菜元素混入法國菜內,春雞非常嫩滑,連雞胸都煮得好好味唔鞋口。糯米飯平時係酒樓食得多,今次呢種食法真係第一次,而且味道無酒樓咁濃味,反而有少少雞既鮮味,再食埋煲底的飯焦,脆卜卜無得頂。

Roots was a place that I was a bit interested in. A French Cantonese bistro run by someone who left her banking job to pursue a career as a chef. That is a dream I wish I was brave enough to do. During lunch time, they have  lunch menu. I can't really say it's a set because it's not. It's just what they serve during lunch time. What you get is a main. Appetizer, dessert and drinks are extra. Menu is in English only.

I decided to get the half roasted French spring chicken, local organic root vegetables and potato confit ($148). It looked good until I started getting into it. Let's start with the good. The vegetables were lovely. Fresh and seasoned well though there was a bit too much oil for my liking. But they were good. The chicken was tender and moist but oddly underwhelming. I've had better roast chicken. I've made better roast chicken.  And it also was still raw at the thigh area.

The food was ok. Not amazing enough to warrant this price tag. Considering they only offer the main and NOTHING else for this price, I can get a better deal and better food at the other restaurants in this area. That is perhaps why it was the only one that didn't have a line waiting. Probably won't be back.

We dined here for Sunday brunch and enjoyed our meal. Our group ordered:- daily soup (vegetable soup)- silky scrambled eggs with sausage, toast, salad- Mediterranean shashuska with sausage, grilled cheese sandwich and salad- House Char Siu sandwich with avocado and saladThe soup was generously filled with vegetables. We dined here for Sunday brunch and enjoyed our meal. Our group ordered:

- Mediterranean shashuska with sausage, grilled cheese sandwich and salad
- House Char Siu sandwich with avocado and salad

The soup was generously filled with vegetables. The scrambled eggs were lovely and the char Siu/avocado combination was also tasty. The shashuska (An egg/capsicum baked dish) had a subtle spice taste which was appreciated.

The service is warm and friendly and food preparation and delivery was efficient. We would dine here again.

牛扒軟嫩,咀嚼時滲出油脂,不膩,很香,一流。意粉則沒甚特別,不是一般的卡邦尼,汁不多亦不厚,不會太滯。

this beef tartare was too spicy for me since they’ve added siracha in it these chips tasted very bland but I guess it’s healthier that way?the kale chips cauliflower were good matches to these scallops the beef was pretty tender the chicken was very soft and the rice was delicious the store front is a great place for nice photos

It's a high stake game chefs play with fusion food - one slip and you end up serving confusion food.   This new Sino-French place may need to prove itself as my evening meal there ranked among one of the less memorable ones. I can barely remember what I had.   Other reviewer's photos helped my memory - the clams were strangely bland despite the spicy sauce and attractive colour, the sticky rice with chicken was quite heavy though the taste was OK, and the beetroot salad was super acidic.

Reasonable price with good food and service. Warm welcome from the member of staff. Reasonable price with good quality. Dishes were design with a mixture of French and Chinese style, we have orders two starters with one main to share among two, as well as a bottle of white wine, the bill was approx1.5k which is good. Will revisit again.
