Pre-Valentine's dinner, 這裡的mussel很新鮮,洋蔥忌廉汁配襯多士一流。三文魚牛油果灑上芝麻非常清新。Cesar salad看似基本菜式,但是它的sauce一點也不馬虎,今晚自己帶上石榴味的sauvirgnon branc一絕。主菜炭燒五成熟的牛排,side dish外脆內軟的薯條,juicy的野菇,每一次也是不會讓人失望。服務員Mandy及Terrence親切、服務周到,值得介紹更多對食物有要求的朋友來:d:

有沒有人試過這樣?見工的時候,覺得那份工很適合自己,對方開出的條件非常吸引,到後來上班的時候,才發現不是那麼一回事。有人說,大不了轉工,

最期待的煎魚終於上枱了,驟眼看上去魚肉已經偏乾,大好的魚柳變成這樣,其實心裡大生失望了,但小妹相信即使不一定如想像中的美好,也應該會不錯。
乾巴巴的魚柳,放入口中是今日做得最錯的事,既完全沒魚味又不滑溜,三件魚柳都被流放在碟邊直到完膳也沒有被碰過了。

相反脆而不膩的薯條相比底下就更顯出色。

已經有七成飽了,但還欠一個甜品,看到是Movenpick的雪糕,兩眼馬上發亮,因為除了在超級市場買回家外,在外面基本上都比較少有Movenpick的雪糕,連LCX的檔口都沒有了,現只剩一間在機場禁區,而且一般餐廳都是入Hd,但個人覺得Movenpick比Hd好吃。我們點了兩杯啤梨雪葩,裡面有啤梨肉。
題外話/補充資料: 這次我們7時前就到達,不用等位,大約8時左右餐廳9成滿座了,早點去比較穩陣。餐廳環境舒適,樓底極高,空間感充足,服務親切有禮。這餐廳的回頭率極高,希望下次再來之時仍有我最愛的鑽石蜆。

免費的餐包很是軟熟熱熱的, 很好吃沙律也是正常龍蝦開邊,味道很好,很多客人也有點甜品以Movenpick雪糕作結,配以四款的Toppings任君選擇實為不錯員工服務一般也很有禮貌,環境不錯,值得一來!

I hardly review what I had for dinner as I don't dine out often. Paid a visit to the Pierside on a Saturday night as we craved lobsters so badly. There were two reservation slots for dinner: 18:00 and 20:30. We picked the earlier slot as it’s easier to park on street of Kennedy Town in the late afternoon than in the middle of the evening.Bread and tap water were served after we made our order. It’s your everyday loaf with your everyday butter. We didn’t really touch the loaf as we wanted to save

We had their Pierside salad ($80), with feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, slices of radish, flannel, beet root, pine nut and mixed greens, came with vinaigrette on the side. They didn’t pay much attention to their salads – common amongst Hong Kong styled/ managed “western” restaurants. Could do without.

Next came the Lobster Roll ($190). The brioche was soft and buttery, which went well with the succulent, springy but firm lobster. They don’t skimp on the lobster, you get the full claw. The lobster was coated in a light mango mayo, finely chopped celery and lemon grass that added a kick, making it an enjoyable light snack. It also came with thick cut chips (skin on, piping hot when served) and pickled radish (which I skipped).

We also had the Lobster Thermedo ($390). A whole lobster. For those who are concerned with de-shelling the lobster, have no worry. The chefs did that for you. Claws de-shelled, lobster meat in the body taken out and diced into bite-sized pieces, so that you can enjoy the lobster as elegantly as you desire. The lobster meat was sautéed in a creamy white sauce along with mushroom, shallots, topped with stringy cheese heated under the broiler. The taste/smell of shallots was pretty prominent. I wasn’t a fan of shallots so left half of my half untouched. The nice waitress noticed and asked if I didn’t like my food and made other recommendations. How attentive! She also made dessert recommendations but at that point I was too full from the rich white sauce, which I ate with the bread served at every table.

I guess Kennedy Town is slowly turning into a posh area. The bill wasn’t cheap, but I think it’s worth a try.

見到openrice都有啲人讚下...去左小試牛刀$98得一個main course如果係好食...都唔係問題..尼舊咁嘅豬肉...同東坡肉無分別分別就係一個喺酒樓見到 另一個就喺一間貌似高級餐廳個度搵到啲肉好un..又無味...同屋企煲湯豬肉有咩分別?!Seafood pasta油到一個點我以為我飲緊油啲pasta又無海鮮味真係食到火滾仲有一樣要鬧嘅野...就係佢啲服務態度!!一入到去就比人黑面對待 好似要求佢先比我地入真係貼錢買爛受可一不可再!!

嘩嘩嘩! 好濃郁, 好creamy 呀~ 仲食到啖啖龍蝦肉, 配埋芒果, 簡直係絕配呀.
男友不太好龍蝦湯, 不過MENU只有一款湯, 如果有男友至愛的洋蔥湯就PERFECT!

侍應強調係用美國穀飼牛, 5成熟, 唔錯. 塊扒好易切, 好有口感. 個portion都好大. 我同男友都食到好飽.無叫甜品, 男友飲左杯不過不失的ESPRESSO就打道回府.

拍出來就是迷迷糊糊的,粉粉嫩嫩的牛肉 混著微酸的脆瓜很酸溜醒胃 抹在烤至脆脆的麵包上
一片接一片的吃,還沒開始吃主菜已吃包吃到飽咧

LOBSTER BOUILLABAISSE ﹝HKD$680/2人份﹞看見隔桌都有點選到的原鍋龍蝦湯,應該是名物吧
裡面有整隻龍蝦 扇貝 藍青口 魷魚 等等 料多又實在啊,仿佛這幾款海鮮的味道都濃縮到湯頭裡
鮮味無比 但真的適合多人分吃也不覺膩啦!!

BEEF SHORT RIBS﹝HKD$188﹞服務生跟我們說這是用慢煮的作法,故心底裡就覺得它應該很軟腍鬆化
之不過切下去就知道需要點力氣,脂肪的比例不多 需要多咀嚼幾下,但不塞牙縫啦 近骨頭的位置才比較腍滑入味
三個人去挑戰這個 真的有點難耶~

冰淇淋方面 店家選用 Movenpick 有數種口味選擇,貪心的我點了 Pear Sorbet 及 焦糖口味 ﹝HKD$40/2球﹞
最沒想到的是 會奉上一大盤配料耶,朋友笑說小孩子定必會喜歡,只不過我也很喜歡啦~ 怎麼辦

There was some surprise that I found out before visiting this new Restaurant – as one day one of the Owners called me up and meticulously introduced himself and explained how he reads my blog and was also referred to him by a Singaporean common friend. So we scheduled a dinner meet up with another foodie friend too for the three of us, and The Pierside is as I found out opened by the same group which opened Amuse Bouche, Sushi Shin, and previously I M Teppanyaki. Daily Specials on top of their Regular Menu,
Prices here were surprisingly affordable. According to the boss who was dining with us, they did a lot of research in London and New York before coming up with this approachable Surf & Turf Restaurant concept.

US Steak Tartare – $140
The pickles and egg is already mixed in. Initially I thought this looked a bit simple, but in actual fact the tartare seasoning was quite spot on. Not overly acidic like many shops do it in HK for some reason, which robs them of the beef flavour. Not here.  But Presentation could still look better ? ~ 7.5/10

Lobster Roll with US Maine Lobster, Truffled Mayonnaise and Cajun Fries – $158
A Winner, lobster meat were still chunky and not over diced in drowned in mayo sauce. The lobsters were actually cooked from alive here, as the restaurant wanted to give the best lobster and flavours to the customer. Best Lobster Roll I have tried in Hong Kong so far as it is technically correct. ~ 8.5/10

4 Pan Seared Hokkaido Scallops with Cauliflower Puree, Frisee, Citrus Lemon Dressing – $140
These were smartly only caramelized on the top side, so as not to over cook them. Nom Nom. ~ 7.5/10

US Maine Lobster Thermidor (Whole) – $340
This is now increased to 650g. It comes baked with mushrooms, brandy, paprika, Gruyere cheese, shallots and garlic, etc. I think with a tinge of mustard. Very good value for money and cooked precisely, also comes with some pickles and Cajun fries. Very good! ~ 8.5/10

Lobster Bouillabaise with Fresh Caught Fish, French Blue Mussels, Squid, Scallops – $680 for Two
One can’t help compare this to the competitor’s version just a few shops down at Bistro du Vin. Over there it is more fish and crab based. The version here is more Crustacean base in flavour, and blended in with many vegetables and also carrying carrot sweetness, but the biggest difference is this is much more viscous thick. Very good although not as fish based as a traditional Marseille Bouillabaise stew. But they didn’t claim to be so either. ~ 8/10

US Beef Short Ribs - Slow Cooked $188
They have an Italian Piedmontese Rib Eye steak here on Special tonight, but due to so many Beef Short Ribs being popular in HK nowadays, I really wanted to suss out their version. It turned out it was cooked very well indeed and beefy… Me and the boss both agreed this was actually more like Beef Brisket tonight as it’s slightly stringy. This would totally suit those who love Pulled Pork or Pulled Beef Briskets. For locals however I guess they want more of a melt in your mouth experience. I actually quite liked this though because I am rather flexible. I mean I appreciate Fresh, Wet Aged and Dry Aged Beef, I can tell the difference but they all have their own strong points. ~ 7.5/10

Overall this was a Lovely Addition to the Kennedy Town suburb -
It’s not expensive, and the Chef trained under one of my favourite Chefs from Petrus in town.  It’s not the typical Chinese-style Western Cuisine which I can't stand at all, but properly cooked and thoughtful, without trying to be pretentious at all. This is the type of family bistro restaurant you want to come back every week. Bistro du Vin, Piccolo Pizzeria and Bistronomique definitely will see a worthy Competitor. And only the customers will benefit in the end.   Note: The boss insisted on treating us this meal over dinner and with many happy chitchats, thanks for the kind gesture. : )

Price: Dinner $550 + 10% Per Person (Thanks to the Boss for treating this meal, He’s such a lovely Guy!)

Food: ♕♕♕♕ ~ ♕♕♕♕ 1/2

I dated my 2 friends to come here for lunch. Not sure why we were asked to sit at the high table even though there was only 1 table of people inside ? To me, the high table is more like a last resort when the restaurant is full. Oh well~Very vibrant colours were used for the interior of the restaurant. Did blue represent the ocean and orange for the lobster? Do I become a sea creature when I'm dinning inside? Ha. Okay enough of this nonsence. The blue patterns really were quite nice.  For lunch

For lunch, you can get an entree for $98 and up, or a 3 course lunch for $128 and up including (Appetizer, Entree and coffee/tea or Ice Cream). Flipping the menu around, there were also other options, which was where we spotted the lobster roll! WOW

The staff were quite polite and helpful throughout. 
Again, this was one of those places that ask you if you wanted still or sparkling water. I seriously don't like this trend because I feel it is a trap for people who don't know they can answer tap water. People have their preferences, and shouldn't be forced upon. I'm not ranting about this restaurant, I'm just expressing my feelings towards this trend.  


Now, back the food. We ended up getting TWO 3 course lunch sets plus a lobster roll!

0. Complimentary Bread The bread was not your usual hard baguette, but was a soft brioche that I guessed would most likely be like the bread used for the lobster roll and bingo. Nothing beats soft warm bread!

1.1 Daily Soup This Ginger Carrot Soup was BLAND.
It tasted very watered down and I struggled to find any flavours. It was a disappointment.

1.2 The Pierside Salad This was trying to be a special salad, but nothing really stood out. The truffle vinegarette was good mind you, but just tasted like truffle plus oil, and not really special. My friend found it to be too strong though.

2.1 Lobster Roll ($150)~ A la carte
3 types of mayo were possible, and we chose the truffle mayo. The lobster salad tasted very fresh, and the celery gave it a nice refreshing crunch. Most important of all, the texture of the lobster was soft, yet firm and not rubbery at all. The lobster pieces were in decent sizes and were so fresh. 
 The toasted brioche well complemented the freshness of the lobster. ALso, the fries were super crunchy! You wouldn't have known by looking at them! We were all happy with this dish!

2.2 Charcoal Grilled US Beef Flat Iron Steak (Add $50) Who can resist steak & fries? When the plate was put down on the table, all I could think about was how small the steak was. 
 It was relatively small compared to its neighbour the French Bistro next door and some of those other hit places lately.  Oh well, taste is more important than size, so I took a bite. Ha! This piece of steak that was burnt to the point that it was bitter. Quite a disappointment. Only the fries were good.

2.3 Grilled Lobster Linguini (Add $80) This pasta was supposed to be fettucine instead of linguini, but they were out I guess. I love all pasta, so it was fine with me.
 The grilled lobster was mouthwatering to look at, and how did it taste? Good! 
 The sauce although a little oily, was full of essence. The squid was cooked just right, and the lobster meat was fresh. All together, this was a nice dish!

3.1 Movernpick Ice Cream and Coffee Coffee was coffee. AS for the Ice Cream, there were 2 flavours, which were vanila and chocolate. We chose vanila, but it was weird because if you chose chocolate, you got to sprinkle nuts or chocolate and stuff on top, but not the vanila. You would think that the vanila would need it more. Anyways, the ice cream was good and didn't need all the add ons.

Steak tartar ( 7/10) tartar steak very chwey but the meat is too large in size. Need to dice more

Lobster pasta ( 8/10) great sauce and very chwey pasta. My favourite

Lobster Bouilaisse (8/10) very strong lobster bisque based. Good selection of seafood and it tastes fresh.

However, the waiter and waitress knowledge of food is poor. Very unprofessional service needs more training when you serve customer. I have to remind the gentlemen twice to change plate after our steak tartar dish. I meant is common sense to change from a raw dish to a main course, right !

I think the manager and post needs to think about their management and training of staff.

前一排試佐堅城三間西餐廳,呢間係最好的!聽說開佐唔係好耐,但食物服務環境價格都是最好的!我地試佐2個set lunch,一個係湯+雞扒+雪糕,一個係沙律+海鮮扁意粉+coffee。全部好滿意兼且有驚喜。雞扒大大件好入味又靚,扁意粉是服務員推薦的,話大廚整呢道菜好拿手,確實個汁和海鮮意粉好夾好美妙,配搭得恰到好處。最驚喜係個雪糕有好多種唔同小食隨便加,好像食乳酪咁。而杯coffee 細細杯,香濃醇厚,比好大驚喜我,覺得一杯好coffee 是成個西餐廳的靈魂,而呢家既coffee 值得入來單點一杯細味一下。可惜唔記得影低。隔離臺有人食龍蝦好大件,看到流晒口水想下次再來試過。哈哈。
