There were friends in town and so I wanted to take him to have some Chinese cuisine and try some peking duck. We wanted to choose somewhere convenient so decided up on ‘peking garden’. Upon arrival, there was a slight delay and had to cue in line. However, when the waiter saw us, she immediately came over and asked us for our reference number and reservation name. The service were really good and attentive in general. It was really attentive, that there was a point when my friend thought he was

The service were really good and attentive in general. It was really attentive, that there was a point when my friend thought he was taking away his plate, but really, the server just wanted to give him a new one. One of the friend was a vegetarian, so we had to ask the servers what sort of oil the food was cooked in and whether there was a substitute for the meat portions. The servers were really helpful and knowledgeable
Since there were4 of us, I’d say that the table they provided was a little small, but with this, the servers knew when they should change to smaller plates and bring an extra side table for us.
We ordered 4 dishes. This includes: spicy friend chicken, peking duck, stewed beancurd with eggplant and a dried beancurd strings with mung beans.
The food was generally good but I wouldn’t say that peking duck was the best that I’ve had. It was rather oily and the wrap was too floury. Compared to the wrap at Peking Garden, Landmark, I found that it didn’t have that wheat mixture in it. However, the sweet sauce they had was great and the condiments that came with it was enough to satisfy your stomach. In HK, I would prefer the place at the Hyatt, out in Shatin (NT)- almost as good as the ones you get in Beijing, but 3 times the price of course.
The 4 dishes were more than enough as the duck was really big and you weren’t allowed to have half portions of it. The price was about $300 per head, with drinks like tea and coke included.
Reservations are definitaly needed as I was going to change the location to the one in TST, but it was full already by mid-day !
