Service is excellent, food is interesting but causal, which is good, not the sort of fine dining experience you'd expect from good old Peninsular. Well it is not the usual fine dine type of place, a little of Heston feel. Strangely full of foreigners/ mainlanders. Oh and last but not least, a fine wine list.

On a casual Tuesday night, two girls decided to go to Peninsula for a drink after dinner. We entered the brightly lit lift and pressed 28. Three seconds prior to the halt on the 28th, the bright lights dimmed into a reddish dark tone to prepare for our arrival into this high-rise restaurant and bar. We asked for window seats for drinks and possibly deserts, and the waitress promptly brought about both the food menu and the drinks menu for our study after we sat down. We are like many other girls are big desert fans but were utterly disappointed with the list of non appealing deserts offered including raisin cake with red wine ice cream and slow cooked pineapple. OK, call us ignorant but we didn't know what Chocolate Ganache was and we weren't brave enough to try it. So we decided to choose from the range of supper menu which we were surprised and pleased they had, we settled for crab spring rolls with two glasses of champagne cocktail.

Cocktails were nicely blended, although not very rich in flavour. Spring rolls were nicely presented as expected and it was true to its word as it only contained crabs and nothing else. It lacked a bit in colour as compared to vegetarian spring rolls where they have carrots and variety of vegetables. I also would have preferred if it were a little less oily. Complimentary nuts were not provided until asked for as we saw the other tables had them.

The table next to us had two tall and nicely made up girls sitting with a slim middle-aged man who kept sharing stories. The girls looked like attempt models who may have worked as entertainment journalists at nowTV or something like that. As the girls ate, they responded politely to his stories whilst they drank red wine. Assuming he is a well off gentleman, it's interesting how he felt he had to make the effort to keep the girls entertained by telling interesting stories. Two sides to the same coin though, my curiosity thought about whether the girls would really be here if he wasn't well off and paid for this expensive dinner. I always notice so much of other things at restaurants and that makes dining out so fascinating besides absorbing its food. But I can't say I'm much different from them in this respect, as I walked to the bathroom which you have to walk past the lifts to get to, I noticed four finely dressed gentlemen standing around waiting to get down. So I quickly adjusted my mini skirt, took a deep breath, held my head high as I did my catwalk to the bathroom. Just as I had planned it, their eyesight followed me right through the female bathroom door.

最後說價錢, 平均每人用了一千元. Well.......當是買個教訓吧.....

We booked Felix for our company Christmas Dinner to celebrate a very good year. 11 persons. The ambience was, as expected, very good so no criticisms there. Service was OK , but nothing special.

But what REALLY HURT considering that we paid over HK$1,100 per head was how STINGY / SMALL the food was ....

...... AND THE COST OF THE BOTTLED WATER : HK$784 = USD100 just for 8 bottles which I am sure was just tap water, even though it was served from a bottle marked " Evian" that looked like no Evian bottle I ever saw in my life ) . And to make it worse - we were never told that they charged for water ![/b

For hors d'ovres I had the Ahi Kumomoto , which was described as " ahi tuna sushi with oysters" . Sounds great ..... BUT NOT SO . What came was a pencil- thin / pencil-long strip of stuff, among which , finally, I found a few small thin scraps of tuna. But the oysters, if they were even there, were just tiny black blobs, even smaller than a simple cockle ( I had to put on my reading glasses to see them )


But what really "hurt" me was the main course.....

I had ordered the rack of lamb " with fried potatoes and onion rings" . Also sounds great.....BUT NOT SO.

To be fair, the rack of lamb was OK, although very small ( about fist - sized ) and tasted good. But one person ordered 'rare' and got 'well-done' resulting in a 20 minute wait while his order was re-cooked . The gravy was served for some people, but not for others ........ not very good waiter service .

But WHAT REALLY HURT was the onion rings and fried potatoes which I was really looking forward to after the stingy hors d'oervres.

The onion rings were technically onion ringS because there were TWO of them ( otherwise I could have sued Felix under the Trades Description Act ) . But they were rock hard, and inedible . No real veg there !


But the "fried potatoes" were so far from reality that Felix should be ashamed.
Imagine a potatoe no bigger than a large grape, sliced into 5- 6 x 1 mm thin pieces, and then fried to the consistency of a potatoe crisp .... Truly, each " fried potatoe" was about as small and thin ( and hard , and dark brown ) as a Hong Kong 50 cent coin . No joking !

The whole " rip-off" completely spoiled the evening and the celebration . What a shame


So that's one restaurant where I will certainly NEVER go again , never , NEVER , NEVER

(I did email and call the Manager the next day to complain and he offered me a free HK$1,000 coupon for another dinner , but I told him to FORGET IT ! )

Why oh WHY do some so-called " top class" restaurants in Hong Kong play such silly tricks that even TST camera shops play ? Why not just be up-front on meal charges and then serve a really good and fulfilling dinner ?

我揀既頭盤由糖蘿蔔、胡桃、羊奶芝士及酸啫喱組成,服務生奉頭盤時並沒有報上菜名及介紹,放下便走人。雖不是什麼錯失,但給客人的感覺就不大好,其實同級數的酒店如香格里拉的Petrus及四季的Caprice都會逐樣食物作出介紹。以半島的水準來說,這細節位應可做得好一點。說回食物,前者味道平凡,胡桃則香脆,酸啫喱真的太過酸,羊奶芝士香濃,較為對辦。但係,幾款食品各有各性格,完全擦不出火花。

到了主菜,一款是魚配帶子,魚的外皮煎得脆口,有少許燶,魚肉則軟滑,唔差的;帶子同樣是經煎過,味道幾鮮的,可是質感不很彈牙,未算最好;配角的萵苣菜我不懂欣賞。

另一款主菜是牛,不過服務生又沒有問過要煮多熟,點解會咁架? 果然,送上來時,是太熟了,吃落有點韌。原本這牛的味道是不錯的,就是煮得過了火,實在浪費了;反而,由薯仔弄成的「Risotto」,口感脆脆的,又夠香,幾特別!

甜品只得一味,沒選擇,是椰子雪葩配芒果布甸。賣相是可以的,可惜芒果並不香甜,雪葩都是平平無奇,滿足不了我這位甜魔,要走下場再去吃甜品

Petits fours,有玫瑰軟糖及杏仁曲奇,前者的確很甜,質感亦軟滑,我很受落,對方就不太接受到;杏仁曲奇當然不會太甜,但入口鬆化,同樣是咖啡良伴。

選了鮮奶咖啡作是晚的終結,尚算香醇,但跟半島的一貫水準,有所回落。

正如各食家所言,食物只屬一般,我卻十分享受這個晚上。餐後更是意猶未盡,走去吃乳酪。

今年第二次來FELIX晚飯慶祝生日. 因為上一次老公生日宴, 對FELIX有再回來感覺; 環境有一目了然維港景色, 在黃昏有好像無邊360º風景, 在漆黑晚上有亮麗煙花 , 確實可觀. 未期望食品會很出色, 嘗試兩次後, 我們同意FELIX是值回票價. FELIX Experience有黑松露的意大利雲吞, 賣相比味道較優. 因為是Experience, 所以每個course的份量都合適. Grill 的牛柳及魚柳都是外脆內暖. 最意外是dessert. '嘩然'的立體半球糖片之下有西瓜粒. 即時問'點做'.服務是比五星酒店應有的更好. 我們在影相時, 服務員走來問要不要幫我們影合照, 不單祇是一張相的應酬式服務, 而是用心給我們多影不同背景選擇. 另外, 一位女服務員很細心; 遞上蛋糕時說明待我切蛋糕許願后, 可以先行包好, 再讓我們回家品嚐. 免除開口要求, 蛋糕當然是信用卡贈送.在這裡你會感受到誰是'用心'的chef, 誰是'用心'的服務員. 這不是用金錢可以換回來.

食完飯去 Felix 飲嘢,有婷婷最鍾意嘅 Lychee Martini!

永遠唔會令人失望嘅靚景靚酒,每次有朋友黎香港,都一定會帶佢哋去架!

亦試過這裡的 Early Bird Dinner 與 À la carte menu,價錢不平,味道又麻麻地!

只係貪個夜景夠 Stunning,室內設計夠型夠格的話,最好選擇坐 Bar 枱飲 Cocktail,既能享受浪漫環境,欣賞夜色,又可輕鬆歡談暢飲,一樂也!

尋日book唔到Amber後,最終揀了felix 試吓。雖然有專“車立”直達felix,但到28樓時“車立” 裡面卻突然一暗,讓有人以為有壞 車立既感覺,亦完全feel唔到felix 係為左比大家適應餐廳較暗的燈光。坐埋位口後,等左10分鐘,個waiter 才施施然攞個menu 過黎。由於menu 內有d食物係用法文寫,我就想叫waiter 過黎解釋吓,但係我在接近5分鐘內舉左手6次都冇人發現,有個waiter 更迴避我的eye contact,好像生怕要為難他點菜或甚麼似的﹗服務質素果然同其他食評家所講一樣咁差。頭盤有得揀 butternut squash soup or roasted baby beets,而我就揀左後者。Red beets 同 golden beets 味道可以,但跟類似Balsamic vinegar 既Jelly 夾黎食除左滯既感覺總係有點夾夾不入,spiced pecans做得亦都比較參差,4粒pecans 中只有2粒好食,較為正常既就只有goat cheese。主菜可選魚或牛。因為之前點了紅酒,當然試吓個beef tenderloin la。Beef t

坐埋位口後,等左10分鐘,個waiter 才施施然攞個menu 過黎。由於menu 內有d食物係用法文寫,我就想叫waiter 過黎解釋吓,但係我在接近5分鐘內舉左手6次都冇人發現,有個waiter 更迴避我的eye contact,好像生怕要為難他點菜或甚麼似的﹗服務質素果然同其他食評家所講一樣咁差。


頭盤有得揀 butternut squash soup or roasted baby beets,而我就揀左後者。Red beets 同 golden beets 味道可以,但跟類似Balsamic vinegar 既Jelly 夾黎食除左滯既感覺總係有點夾夾不入,spiced pecans做得亦都比較參差,4粒pecans 中只有2粒好食,較為正常既就只有goat cheese。

主菜可選魚或牛。因為之前點了紅酒,當然試吓個beef tenderloin la。Beef tenderloin 味道唔可以話差,但只是比自助餐既燒牛肉略好。反而個potato risotto 做得比較有心思。

Dessert唯一的選擇 Coconut three-ways可為一d都唔吸引。Coconut sobert 在攞過黎時已溶了一半,mango custard pudding 勁酸,好明顯係選取食材既問題,再加上好似為湊夠數而落既coconut foam 黎食真係令人倒胃。

最後叫左杯earl grey,茶過濃,送茶既茶點比dessert 甜幾倍。 在接近8點鐘時,那位在我點菜需要介紹時故意不跟我對望的waiter 第一時間要我埋單,然後叫我鍾意既話可以將食物同茶搬上bar table 到食。橫觀四周,半數人都是order early bird set 的人,為何只有我一枱突別不受歡迎呢?

原來,在座除我這一枱外,每枱也至少有一位外藉人士。在一間國際5星酒店裡面既waiter 竟然都係一個嚴重既種族主義者,外國人看來在這裡的waiters 中就是比較高級吧﹗

總結黎講,食物質數只屬一般,服務質數直頭離譜。連waiter 都會歧視香港食客,這是完全不能令人接受的﹗我諗我幾年來都唔會再幫襯felix,食到一肚氣﹗

- slow-cooked foie gras : 感覺似鵝肝醬, 配上黑朱古力, 中和返個膩既感覺, 幾得意, 再配上佢所謂既 "grilled brioche", 其實即係一條小小的厚多士~ 簡直就係食緊鵝肝醬+多士既感覺, 伴碟既橙色jelly狀物體太苦, 可能係用酒造既
- boston lobster & black truffle salad : 呢個幾好!! 原隻龍蝦去殼, 蝦肉幾新鮮! 配埋green apple食, 感覺清新, 但係另外伴碟既烚artichoke好唔掂
- (main course) grilled american prime beef fillet with marrow bone: 我諗呢個係成個餐最好食....牛柳好淋, 岩岩好medium, 肉汁豐富, 但嫌凍左d! 牛骨髓都唔錯! 係鹹左小小姐

之後送上rose champagne, 竟然好飲!! 我以為一定送d cheap酒, 但係我飲完一杯都無人添酒, 我都唔知我地支酒飲哂未
叫佢拎tissue又要再提佢, 等勁耐~ 估唔到名牌酒店d service係咁! 未試過!!
甜品已經無胃口食, 等得太耐, 勁燥底
white chocolate strawberry terrine & lychee sherbet : 只有3個字 "甜到嘔"~~哈哈~ 可能我太飽了

my bf booked this restaurant for our anniversary of meeting each others dinner........i was totally satisified about the food and service......for the service, rem i read some comment here that mentioned the staff treat the local people not so nice......like they reply to u in english even though u talk to them in cantonese.....for my case, they are all very nice and friendly.......all the way talk to me in cantonese.....no language discrimination for the food, i like their lobster soup......it

for the food, i like their lobster soup......it's creamy and yummy

i ordered the steak while my bf ordered the salmon......both are delicious and the condiment also well tasty.....
we had wonderful dinner and went up to the bar had a drink.....again, facing the victoria view and having my carribean ocean........we really enjoyed the nite.....

We picked this restaurant for our anniversary dinner as the feedbacks shown on this website seems to be pretty good. But after dining there tonight, I can assure you that you will get a much better bang-for-the-buck elsewhere.
For the food quality, it is not bad, but it is only so so for the price tag attached to the menu. The lobster soup we had was a bit too creamy and did not have enough lobster flavor. The foie gras appetizer I ordered was too salty (Mind you, I can stand very salty food. If I call it salty, then it is definitely above and beyond what most people can deal with). The tenderloin we ordered was over-cooked and became chewy (nearly thought I was eating beef jerky, although it certainly would not have costed $360). The sea perch and prawn pillow I ordered was not even that good. The fish was over-cooked and lacked flavor. They put a ton of spinach under the fish and prawn pillow, and then topped them with another pile of greens. I nearly though I was having a salad. The prawn pillow was ok. But again, it was too salty.
While the food was mediocre, don't expect too much on the service either. Early on when I got seated, they did not even offer water and the waiter rushed in a wine list. When we told him that we did not want to order wine for the night, he still pushed for us to get mineral water (you can tell by looking at him that he will just make you order some costly drinks before he would pour any liquid into your glass). Then when we asked for alternatives to the broccoli coming with the tenderloin. He bluntly refused! And guess what? He once again try to hard-sell us on ordering a side dish (HKD140 for 4 pieces of fries). Talking about dining at a five-star hotel, they do not even train their staff on the most basic customer service etiquette. By the time when I saw my main dish, I just wanted to finish dinner asap and leave!!
Oh, to add another "cherry" on top of their list of disappointments, on top of the 10% gratuity that was already included in your bill, they apparently expect the customers to pay out much more tips. Obviously, for their poor service and mediocre food quality, we did not feel it was necessary to tip extra. But when we walked out of the restaurant, we definitely received a few glares from those few blunt and ignorant waiters. But I do not give a damn as I do not plan to return (not worth returning).

Ahi tuna, black truffle, avacado-生吞拿魚的質感很擦膠,又腥,我少試了半件就不想再吃;牛油果天婦羅炸得香酥脆,味道與質感都挺特別,但講好吃程度還不及一般日式料理的雜菜天婦羅;最後黑松露則化身與前兩味毫不相干的醬汁,身份似是裝飾多於調味。
  
Razor clam "manhantan chowder"-以巨型蟶子殼盛起隨便堆砌的蕃茄、紅蘿蔔及蟶子粒,幾種食材毫無交流,令人覺得平白浪費了上好蟶子;附上一小杯湯汁,味道生澀怪異,明明熱暖卻令人心裡寒一寒!
 
Roasted peach, wasabi, prosciutto, aruguia-烤熟的蜜桃味道與西梅類同,天然純樸的味道比起先前的古靈精怪要討好多了;咸火腿卷著火箭菜也是好吃,終於吃出一點水準來。
 
American Beef Fillet-侍者評為「真係唔錯」的牛柳,幸運的水準真的不錯,剛好五成熟的肉質柔嫩無根,稍咬即化;同碟的白色芥末又份外清新,配上牛柳吃相當美味;另一脆炸薯餅則有點硬身,水準較為普通。
 
Pan-seared Austrialian Lamb-同樣都是叫了五成熟,羊肉明顯煮得較老及嚡口,卷以雜菜後賣相別緻,但味道一點不討好,反而配菜的薯仔片香滑軟稔,更具水準。主菜的份量不小,勉強吃了九成後,再也無胃納散點其他誘人甜品了,真傷心!


五星級酒店的服務十分到位,循例送上甜品餐牌一陣,便「自動波」捧出我一早預訂的驚喜---
朱古力慕絲生日蛋糕;老公,生日快樂!
精緻的蛋糕加上醉人夜景,顯得份外迷人,老公開心的許願吹蠟燭後,再次交由侍者為我們仔細分妥,並連另外兩款甜品同上檯。先講慕絲生日蛋糕,簡簡單單卻勝在朱古力味充足,慕絲質感細膩,蛋糕層又夠潤澤,味道要比甚麼創意前菜好多了;又香又滑的
榛子蛋糕是另一驚喜位,美味難以形容,比起cova的出品有過之而無不及,只恨份量真小;最後柚子果凍就好麻麻不懂欣賞了。
 
餐後還有水準稍降,但仍香醇柔美的半島
鮮奶咖啡,以及Petit fours作結尾,相當飽足又滿足,還有半個蛋糕拎走,這頓消費其實一點不貴。臨走又四處逛了一下餐廳,飽覽美景後,再到地庫繼續另一場享受。
 
最後想提大家務必要參觀絕美景觀洗手間,不看絕對是閣下損失呢!
