They used a charcoal grill. Fortunately, the ventilation at the table area was acceptable. There is also a cloak room for your suits and jackets. There are hooks beneath the tables for extra storage.

去的時候人不多,所以感覺通風可以。二人位有點狹窄。友善的職員會把客人的西裝放入儲物室內,避免一身煙味。抬下有勾可掛雜物,省回一點地方。

The menu is in Japanese, Chinese and English. Ironically, the English version is the most accurate version. They serve most standard yakitori items, as well s quite a lot of grilled seafood. Ask the server for daily specials.

一般燒鳥店的選擇都有。全部是一串的價錢。除了餐牌上的之外,亦點了是日推介。(要留意吧抬前的小木板)。

White sweet corn from Hokkaido. It's invariably served raw and chilled. It has a refreshing sweet taste. It's like eating a fruit. Worth a try.

Okura: The presentation was fairly bad with just 3 small okura per portion. I think the chef overdid the sauce so the okura was fairly soggy.

秋葵一客只有三條,賣相實在是有點寒酸。燒汁下得頗多,令秋葵小了應有的爽口但多了味道。

Chicken Liver: It did not taste very fresh. I suggest that they marinate it in ginger and wine for a longer period of time

On the other hand, the Sunagimo (chicken kidney) was good. The timing was good. The sunagimo was succulent. However the chef could have added more salt. It was just lukewarm when served.

The garlics were a bit burnt.

雞肝有點腥味。可能不夠新鮮或醃得不夠,未能去腥。有很大改善空間。
雞腎則燒得剛好,大粒,肉質爽嫩。缺點的上桌時有點凍和味道偏淡。下多點鹽可能更好。
蒜頭有點焦但有點焦香反而挺可口。

Tsukune: Always my favourite dish at a yakitori place. It's minced chicken meat with chicken cartilage. This was probably homemade. It had quite a lot of chicken cartilage in the tsukune which improved the texture. The sauce is made of raw egg, soy sauce and mirin. I think Nishiki at TST East still serve the best Tsukune.

雞肉軟骨串 不錯。免治雞肉內有大量軟骨,大大增強了口感。蛋汁亦教得好。相信是用了日本蛋,蛋味濃郁。當然,我最喜歡的是尖東的「Nishiki」.

Tarabo: A case of lost in translation. The Japanese says crab sticks, which was what we've wanted to order. It turned out to be cod fish chips instead. Fortunately, those were crunchy and tasty.

Grilled tuna cheek: Easily the best dish of the night. Very firm and meaty. The meat was tasty and tender because of the melted fish oil. Recommended.

吞拿魚鮫 全晚的亮點。啖啖肉,燒得夠香,有炭香之餘亦有脂香。肉質既結實又不失嫩滑。很讚。但論性價比則「香港烏賊中心」更勝一籌。

We ordered pickled burdock and pickled squid. The only comment I have is that the portions were exceptionally small.

新開仍沒有酒牌所以自己帶了啤酒和紅酒。(其實吃串燒我不喜歡配清酒。啤酒較清熱。)晚餐尾聲 點了一些酒肴,分別為營光魷魚漬牛蒡漬

味道其實與其他日本餐廳分別不大,但分量很小。其實佐酒小吃如吃得開懷,很多人都會再點更多酒水。不需那麼吝嗇這些平價漬物。

Warabi Mochi: A fairly traditional Japanese dessert. Soft mochi in soy bean powder and syrupt. Interesting. 

蕨餅 傳統日式甜品之一。相信很多人都吃過類似的甜品。有點像糯米糍加黃豆粉和糖漿。



總結

在蘭桂坊一帶沒有甚麼燒鳥店。「Zawa Zawa」已倒閉。以前「花串」已轉移陣地。「beco」主打牛肉但吊腳。「酋玉」燒得不錯,吃的部位刁鑽,較重口味但地點不算很方便,亦有限時。這店勝在佔了地利,標價較高亦無可厚非。

整體來說,食物質素不錯,但性價比低。地方不大但尚算舒適,服務員亦很有禮。翻吃指數普通。如在附近,或可一試。

The bill came down to $890 including service. I find this fairly pricey. Because of it's convenient location (the nearest yakitori shops are Toritama and Beco), I won't rule out another visit.

形狀是圓圓短短的啖啖肉羊鎚,和坊間的直角三角形不同,喜歡這個形狀可以拎上手吃,很有下酒菜風味。羊架約七成熟,外脆內軟帶粉紅,可惜是我愛的羊“酥”味卻沒有。試了兩樣也不錯呀,望一下師傳,是香港人不是日本人喔,燒的技術也不錯。

先挑選了三款串燒一試。牛舌質感柔軟、富彈性,鹹度亦適中,達到了水準;而味噌豚肉芳香的味噌,配襯著彈性和油脂均勻的豚肉,味道也相當不錯!至於梅醬紫蘇雞肉串燒則叫人失望,雞肉甚為粗糙,而梅醬只得一陣死酸,毫無梅香可言,灑上梅醬之上的紫蘇,沒經炭火燒烤,也帶不出應有的香氣!

當晚另一款推介是北海道白粟米,除初嚐白粟米外, $60大元一條的粟米,是人生之中暫時最昂貴的。況且在毫無加工的情況下進食,白粟白顯得特別的矜貴,究竟北海道白粟米是否值回票價?

北海白粟米色澤白晢純美,沒有一點瑕疵,粟米粒粒均勻飽滿。入口有著無渣、清爽的質感,一咬汁液如泉湧,甜度有如庶汁般甜美,實在叫人難忘與心動,貴得物有所值。北海道白粟米成為當晚我最喜歡的食物!

「Keyaki」使用別具風味的炭火燒烤,加上面積不大,擠迫出一種鬧哄哄的氣氛,尤其適合歡渡週末。除了鬧哄哄,我倆也感到熱乎乎,非指剛烤出來的串燒,而是身體的體溫,店員稱冷氣已調較至最低的溫度,可是老公已悶熱得面容也扭曲了,連胃口也久奉,那個週末被捲入「Keyaki」熱乎乎和鬧哄哄的漩渦中!

最後,店員見我們喝得很高興,就拿出他們店中的Secret Drinking Game –土佐輪盤(日文好像叫Beku-hai),是日本的傳統飲酒遊戲,玩法就是凡把骰子擲到那張面,閣下就要把盛載在那張面的酒杯內的酒喝光(對啊,玩法有點想我們香港的民間傳統遊戲789…),不過要擲骰子也不易啊,是要有點技巧的,試多幾次才成功。

Such a convenient location if you don't want to trek to K town for its sister restaurant Shiba. The special charcoal grill which you can see gives the skewers an amazing aroma and taste - better than any kushiyaki/yakitori place in HK.  The clams (fresh that day) were incredible and we ended up ordering several rounds.  The tsukune (minced chicken meatball) is very authentic with bits of softbone inside. Also highly recommend the chicken wings and the fishcake.  Don't think I've ordered anything

據悉,食客可包場,坐滿約二、三十人,價錢萬多元起計,時間限制及酒水供應會因應個別個案再作商討。開業至今,顧客大多八時後光臨,以星期日人流最少,一般不用訂座,但星期四至六如無訂座,客人有機會要於門外排上半小時,星期一至三就要撞彩啦。「Keyaki」現階段只做晚市,待餐廳上軌道後,老闆已計劃於三月加開午市,應該會做自選套餐為主。

上座不到兩分鐘,哥哥仔第一時間送上熱毛巾,媽米形容得真係貼切:「暖手又窩心
,乾淨又衛生」。

喺串燒吧進膳有度好,同枱食飯都可以各自叫自己o既愛好食品,感覺輕鬆,不過「Keyaki」唯一欠缺熱鬧氣氛,背景o既爵士樂
亦好似有點兒格格不入添。記得小肥早年前於美國洛杉磯探親,曾光顧過一家日式串燒店「新撰組」,當時餐廳內o既師傅及樓面伙計不時以日文高呼落單,與食客們飲酒吶喊,打成一片,如果「Keyaki」可以喺蘭桂坊暗巷內造出同一效果,相信店子將大受歡迎

因有感家中長輩對「Keyaki」串燒屋抱懷興趣,故離場前,當哥仔送上飯後熱毛巾時就向其索取咭片,方才發現親切落力o既Angus哥哥原來係副店長
,真係失覺哂!小肥真係冇諗到副店長會如此體貼,除咗不時問及食客對食品o既意見之外,就連送遞熱巾、增添酒水、更換餐具等功夫都不假手於人,事事親力親為,而且有禮友善,遇上問題及意見多多o既XO仔都冇話不耐煩,細心聆聽之餘亦續一解答,態度專業得很


總結,地點隱蔽o既「Keyaki」環境開揚,透明度高,高櫈座位意外地較為適合個子不甚高大o既食客,相反地腳長o既客人就坐得辛苦少少。食物即點即煮,高質且夠熱,價錢亦相當合理。廚房中o既師傅忙碌燒煮食物時,店內油煙味一啲都唔過份,樓面o既伙計招呼又周到,連細微o既熱毛巾及酒水添加服務都夠哂貼身衛生,睇得出大家都盡心盡力,如果串燒店可於背景音樂及氣氛上改善一下,絕對係有機會成為蘭桂坊下一個新熱點
