話說冬大過年,年尾總會有一些大大小小的飯局,好開心得到我工作上的客戶邀請,才知道呢間如此隠蔽的餐廳。雖然餐廳出面有一個地盤,但是入面的裝修頗具歐陸風,坐得很舒適。看到菜單,有幾個午餐可選擇,我也不客氣選了一個價格最高的午餐。先來一個蕃茄湯,蕃茄的味道很濃郁,加上中間一塊餅乾,增加了不少咬口,成個感覺好開胃。主菜終於到了,是黏了白芝麻的香煎三文魚伴白汁。呢塊三文魚真係煎得好香,外脆內軟。加上三文魚的兩邊各有層芝麻,食落感覺更香口。

先來一個蕃茄湯,蕃茄的味道很濃郁,加上中間一塊餅乾,增加了不少咬口,成個感覺好開胃。

主菜終於到了,是黏了白芝麻的香煎三文魚伴白汁。呢塊三文魚真係煎得好香,外脆內軟。加上三文魚的兩邊各有層芝麻,食落感覺更香口。

The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. Judging by the restaurant's look and decoration, it already tells you they serve honest food. The fries from fish & chips were just right. Shepherd's pie really carried out the British flavour. Dinning atmosphere was super friendly and relaxing, especially suitable for family gathering or couples date night. 難得的傳統英國味道,食物質量同味道物有所值,餐廳氣氛也很溫馨質樸,老闆和服務生都很風趣健談,服務溫暖體貼,不錯的就餐體驗

是夜走到船街盡頭,找到這間英國菜小店,幾個女生坐在一起瞬間破壞了這裏寧靜優雅的環境。還好其他食客都不太介意。先點幾道前菜伴紅酒,最滿意的是Grilled Prawns and Scallop, 帶子又大又肥美,口感有如刺身,是剛熟的恰到好處,不用太多汁醬正好保留食材的鮮味,故ENCORE了這道清新的海鮮小吃。第二碟同樣新鮮,沙律菜顏色漂亮,爽脆如新鮮摘下的。相比之下Crab Meat and Spinach Salad較失色,蟹肉味道不突出。還是喜歡原隻蟹件啖啖肉放到嘴中的感覺,幸好菠菜沙律清新可口。不經不覺吃了幾道沙律前菜,果然是這裏的必然之選,Endive Salad with Apples and Stilton鮮、爽、甜,平凡的沙律菜也能令人吃得開懷,且越吃越開胃。喜歡這裏的沙律醬汁不會過多,才能真正嚐到食材的原有鮮味。主菜方面,最愛這個Pork Chop with Iberico Ham。尤其吃過數輪新鮮沙律後,這塊厚厚而又充滿肉汁的鮮肉更顯味美。肉質出奇地嫩,自身肉汁配合濃濃醬汁吃來香濃美味,難得脂肪位不多,感覺一點不肥膩。這道Cod and Ricotta Parcels

甜品方面忘記了名字,只知四位女小生的湯匙在數輪晃動後,便火速將杯中物掏乾淨。杯底其實是Sherry wine jelly, 中層加入了餅碎;面層加上香滑的鮮忌廉後入口香醇軟滑,果然是大師級之作。尤其一瞥英國廚師忽然從廚房步出的神韻後,感覺比喝酒更令人神往。

第一次到船街這間餐廳,很難忘,因為很難找。 來來回回在船街走來走去都找不到,真係好嬲。最後要朋友落嚟喺間廟門口接我再上去。 間餐廳原來有2,3層高,外面設計好有英倫feel, 但實在太隱蔽,好難搵。 裡面每層都好細,只可放3-4張枱。可能由於有2,3層的關係,而waiters 要在這幾層樓穿梭,所以總是找不到人,這點應該要認真改善。不過,如果想跟朋友傾計就唔錯,因為根本冇人會理你。點咗個Tuna and avocado tartare, 這是今餐我最喜歡的菜式。牛油果味很濃,用了很多牛油果,配合埋吞拿魚,口感唔錯。跟住係海鮮盒,裡面有好多不同種類嘅海鮮,好豐富,但是味道一般。最後是甜品apple crumble, 焗得好味。裡面有好多蘋果,所以有很多蘋果味,幾好。

去完山頂玩了半天,就坐15號巴士來餐廳。下車的位置在餐廳附近,餐廳亦幾易搵,好像在窄巷中自成一角!餐廳既外貌係吸引我來的主要原因,想不到食物也很有驚喜!!!呢個超好味!煎香帶子加上松露醬,口感豐富又令人滿足!豬扒雖厚,又煎得剛熟,口感很好,而且味道帶有些咸香味!配上蘋果醬很清新!不過蛋比較太咸了!魚皮煎脆,魚肉很滑!Lemon Tart真的有點酸的“甜“品!但食了咁多,食完呢個真的很解膩!推介 Triffle有三層的甜品:底層係cherry 啫喱,中間係吉士醬, 面層係cream 加脆脆,口感豐富,但就不是我杯茶 希望大家中意我個人既分享!

Shockingly bad dinner at Limehouse. Will never return. The prawn & scallop crumble looked more like a huge ruburb crumble but without the custard. Bland, overcooked and definitely not worth the hour wait. The salmon was undercooked and stone cold.  Two serving staff running up and downstairs all night didn't help the service time nor keeping the food hot. We left hungry and very disappointed. Went to the crepe shop opposite for an excellent second dinner.

Mix grill 包括牛扒, 雞胸肉, 白色香腸, 薯仔格格和小量雜菜.牛扒很多根而且用了互不配合十分淡味的的白汁, 雞胸肉粗糙而無味, 我是很喜歡吃香腸的, 但那白色香腸連一般香腸應有的味道也欠奉, 只有油膩的口感, 真的不好吃! 全碟最好吃的便是薯仔格格了, 和連鎖炸雞店的差不多. 午餐是包餐茶的, 朋友點了咖啡, 詢問有沒有咖啡用的黃糖, 不好意思, 只有白沙糖! 順帶一提, 我們等了大約15-20分鐘才上主菜, 但店員的服務態度是有禮貌的.之前在Limehouse 食過十分好味的burger, 我希望擁有舒適環境的Limehouse 可以保持食物水準的穩定性, 不防考慮長期供應burger, 應該可以吸引到一定的食客.

切起來便感受到它的香脆鬆化。魚身亦不過油,總之做得剛剛好。質感亦帶點彈性,魚塊厚身又完整,用叉叉起不會碎掉,不用加他他醬已經非常好吃。

薯條亦炸得很好,我們不自覺把它一條又一條清光。

不吃主菜,當然是為了甜品。我們二人一口氣點了當天的甜品

送上來時已有很香的拖肥味道。用叉切開,很有黏性但又有點煙韌。暖暖的布丁吃起來沒有很甜,有些雲尼拿的甜,不太漏。
布丁底有最邪惡的拖肥醬托起,我要發出甜姐兒的「唔~~~」。吃一兩口是相當不錯的,之後感覺漏,都淨吃布丁了。

這個的份量比我們想像中多,crumble看起來焗得金黃。烘過後的熱蘋果吃起來仍然爽脆,但我個人感覺太甜,希望糖份少一點,蘋果和肉桂的味道強多一點。

上層是忌廉,下面有一片薄的餅,再落便是Curd,最底是jelly。所以Cream都打得很滑很輕盈,很簡單好吃的邪惡點品。友人愛它不死甜,一口一口把它掃清光。

感覺這裡的食物都做得很細膩,選擇和處理食材亦不馬虎。尤其是fish & chips有別我對它啖啖老油兼魚肉鬆散又不新鮮的討厭印象;金黃色的蛋亦沒有在碟上殘留多餘的油份。下次再來的話,真要試試這裡的主菜。

Food itself, the selections of the day were not inspiring: a) Chicken Burger, b) Pork Cutlet, c) Pasta. The reknown Fish and Chips was not on the menu, nor was there any resemblance to English food at all in any of the above. I ordered the cutlet. While the pork was juicy on the inside, the portion wasn't right. I would say it's larger than a morning pork cutlet from a local "cha chan ten", but definitely not enough as a standalone lunch.

Oh, and there's no choice on appetizer, a cream soup that tastes straight out of a campbell can was it.

Overall I'm terribly disappointed, given previously I quite liked this place. Definitely removing this restaurant from my Wanchai shortlist.

This is another restaurant that I must recommend to have in Wanchai for chatting and dining.We reserved a table for lunch in advance, and glad that we were offered seats on the 1st floor. I love the stairs while walking up, and I love the sofas in blue. The lunch set was nice, I love the creamy soup with stirred mushroom, the best was to add a little pepper. The main course was seafood (prawns & fish) pasta served with lobster sauce. Though we were full, we ordered a hot chocolate cake, very rich flavor & of medium portion. The coffee wasn’t bad too.

Limehouse:

After a particularily busy morning in an already hectic week, I was longing for a place to have some peace and quiet. It was either O La La (for noodles) or Limehouse. 

It was my first time here and I wasn't quite sure what to expect in view of the mixed reviews.

The first thing which impressed me was the simple and soothing wood based decor with cool air-conditioning and relaxing guitar as background music.

The wooden tables and chairs were reasonably spaced apart.



The quiet spoken waiter handed me a simple menu, aptly entitled, the "Simple Lunch":

I ordered the pan fried turbot. 

I suspect they change this now and then. I believe they do fish and chips at night as well.

Soup of the day: 

This was "Cream of Pea and Crab Meat". This was very good.  Rich, smooth, and creamy. There was a fair amount of crab meat and a smaller amount of green peas.

The slight quibble I had was that no bread was provided together with the soup, whch was very odd for a Western restaurant.
 Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the soup. 




Pan Fried Turbot with Mango Tomato Salsa:

Two large pieces of turbot on a substantial bed of mashed potatoes. 

The mashed potatoes were smooth and buttery. Not as buttery as the signature mash at Robuchon a Galera but certainly a lot healthier. The herbs inside the mash added complexity to the taste.

The two turbot fillets were large and had a lot of fish oil. The skin was nice and crispy but the meat was tender. It mixed very well with the sweet mango and tomato salsa sauce.

The good amount of veggies that came with the turbot were also fresh and crunchy. Even the Brussels Sprouts were slightly pan fried beforehand, which got rid of the grassy taste in most sprouts.

The waiter was extremely polite and efficient. 



I was very happy with this simple lunch. This will definitely be another place I'll return to if I need a quite and simple lunch.

主菜來了,牛扒頗大塊,配上酸忌廉焗薯令人食指大動;B小姐分一塊予我吃,肉味不錯,唯一是有點韌,應該是解凍不足而且太熟導致,只要未完全解凍,不論你煎至天荒地老都會維持粉紅色的狀態。是我太久沒有沒像樣的LUNCH嗎?怎麼每一塊牛扒到了午飯時間就一問成熟度就煎個WELL-DONE俾你咁冇道德既?白白浪費了好肉,著實可惜

我的主菜是SEAFOOD CRUMBLE,所謂CRUMBLE,的確是APPLE CRUMBLE裡的小脆塊,但只是幌子一個,最後在盤子上灑一點而已,面頭可是烘得很鬆脆。主菜用可愛的小盤盛著,海鮮份量很足,加上一些薯塊在裡面,但值得一讚的是它的DRESSING,類似芝士吉士醬,但並不HEAVY,吃過不會有飽滯的感覺。

最後來到甜品,是朱古力布朗尼蛋糕,味道一般,但會不會......大塊了一點?尤其是布朗尼蛋糕偏重牛油和厚實,平時只會買一小塊,這卻是一個蛋糕的八分一SIZE,真是吃到眼都突矣。不過,若非大件,如何甜品能賣三十大洋?

結論是,食物尚算有特色,但看來餐廳人手不足,有料的大廚只有煮主菜的師父,準備湯品面包的助手們實在不堪。加之餐廳管理有問題(小型餐廳的通病),侍應與客人溝通不足,在午飯的繁忙時間更是手忙腳亂。
