兩日前訂座時,我還特地預留了兩件Lemon Tart(每件HK$52),結果比我想像中略遜色了一點,雖然我常覺得檸檬味的甜品若酸度不夠,感覺會很不到位,但這個卻又太酸了,也許比較適合淺嚐兩口吧,一個人吃一整件太多了。

儘管今天點的食物不算太出色,但Limehouse的服務員都誠懇有禮,我們用膳期間不停替我們添水,加了不少分數﹗

The first thing that struck me about the menu was that it really was not very British! Smoked chicken croissants, US beef, and mushroom ravioli replacing the expected shepherds pie, fish and chips,stews and beef pies.

We had the set menu starting with a decent but uninspiring mushroom soup which really was not that much better than you get out of a gourmet can nowadays.

My friend had the mushroom ravioli, and it was just as well she is on a diet as this was not going to fill her up. The ravioli could have benefited from the addition of a few wild mushrooms to add flavour, but was perfectly average. know guys like to eat light at lunch but this was taking that concept too far.

I had the perch with a pumpkin risotto. The fish was a small but decently cooked and flavorful item, but the risotto??
The British had a reputation for boiling everything to death and this was the opposite. Chef, the packet says boil for 20 minutes not 2! This was so undercooked that it was crunchy and inedible.

For $100+ a meal this place really needs to get a grip and offer better cooking and value.

It is just locating behind/ next to another restaurant.

Sunshine came into the restaurant at the upper stairs.
I love the simple renovation with furnitures.

Lunches offer us good choices: pastas or meat.
We picked up each for us, pasta and beef.
Pasta is very delicious, full of cheese and hot enough. The creamy texture made us energetic for the whole afternoon.
Beef is not rare nor over, it is juicy actually, love the medium size for girl, not too full but enough.

Desserts is the final main course, haha!
I love the sour with little sweet - Lemon Tart the most.
Even they put some cream on the cake, however, i took it away as i love the natural sour of lemon!

We must go again next time!

是日為星期六,只是衝着炸魚薯條而來。雖然這裡有供應午市套餐,但是炸魚薯條並沒有套餐,只能單點。只有簡簡單單的午市和晚市餐牌,沒有小食或甜點餐牌,有興趣要自行向店員查詢。另設加一服務費。對於英國菜的認識不多,鹹點方面只知道最出名的炸魚薯條和約克郡布甸,甜點方面看似比較多,有麵包布甸、蘋果金寶、英式布甸和炸Mars Bar等等。Fish n Chips($78)炸魚和薯條都炸得金金黃黃,賣相的確誘人。火候掌握得不錯,炸得不但金黃,而且香脆。油份亦不會過多,吃到最後見其下的牛油紙沒有沾染很多的油。薯條有薯味不在話下,還是粗切的,撒上的香草更添風味,。魚的炸漿不會過厚,只不過魚肉本身已是薄身。魚應該是雪藏的,而且冷藏時間頗久,即使滴上了檸檬汁、澆上了麥芽醋、沾上了他他醬,還是有明顯的腥味,而且魚鮮味稍弱,不過尚可接受。魚肉尚算滑身,但稍嫌過於薄身,以致脆和滑的對比不夠鮮明。整體來說還可以一試,以$78這個價位來說,店家是可以改用新鮮魚或者品質更佳的雪藏魚的。雖說炸魚薯條最原本就是窮人的食物,但並不代表用料便可隨便。下次再來試試英式甜品吧!

一上桌就覺得賣相非常討好。Fish & chips 都炸成勻暈的金黃色,舖在底下的牛油紙卻不見有油漬。配上他他醬、醋、檸檬和茄汁,完整得令人心折!深深呼吸一口,那種熱辣的香氣可是撲鼻而來!

Chips 呈寛闊狀,炸得外皮略脆而內裡軟綿綿的,自有它的那種特別的厚實感。雖然有撒上了一點香草,但這個chips似乎沒有調過味...幸好我本人對薯仔的味道情有獨鍾,所以也不覺得味道太單寡。但是!Fish有點令人失望丫。雖然我不知道他們是用甚麼魚去炸的,但魚肉口感有點霉爛,失卻了那很重要的滑嫩口感。即使魚肉不帶腥氣,還是讓人吃得不夠盡興><

這一次是Chocolate Brownie。份量比想像中的要大,但係口感怎麼怪怪的?一般來說Chocolate Brownie的口感都比較濕潤紥實,但這裡卻是反其道而行,集乾、鬆散於一身,雖說朱古力味夠濃,但是我是絕不推介的。

這是某一次特地到這裡外帶一試。
名物果然是名物,這個Lemon Tart 可是會吃上癮的!Tart 脆脆的有點餅乾的感覺,帶有很重的牛油香味,質感非常厚實。可能你會問,那麼heavy 的一塊tart, 那豈不是很膩?不!你一點都不會覺得膩!因為那檸檬味非常霸道的餡兒很酸,而酸在解膩這檔子事上可是非常的在行。可能你會再問,那麼酸?!我可受不了!那你可以放心好了,第一口可能你會覺得很酸,但那酸味背後的檸檬味會慢慢的散發出來;再吃一口,你會發現那清新的檸檬味才是重點,而酸味卻會淡去。不知不覺很輕易的就可以ko一整塊啦。
這可是一個不可不試的一個甜點~(這句真撓口///)
Other Info. : 因為Limehouse 和Nightingale 實在太近,不知不覺就會把他們拿來比較。 兩家都是每個星期都會轉set lunch menu,但Nightingale 就勝在有一個facebook page,轉了甚麼新菜式都是輕易找到。這方面啊,Limehouse 就遜色得多了。他們雖有自己的網頁,但卻形同虛設,不解為何不好好利用?今次我也打了好幾次電話去查詢菜單。不巧都遇上女侍應聽電話,她那種態度語氣啊,嘖嘖,少不免令我自責一番,好像阻住了她辦甚麼大事似的!

Main: sandwish with chips (92)/crab meat rissoto (95) pan fried halibut (108) and striploin steak with chips(118): we both chose halibut with mashed potatoes and red pepper sauce, which was great. Halibut was fresh and large in portion, well fried not oily but tender. the sauce is great too.

Service is good and considerate.

Only thing bad is there's some insect which bited me during the lunch and i got skin allergy afterwards.

唊一口咖啡,好香果仁味!我覺得完全不用加糖加奶,反而是一種享受.沒想過在這裡,給我發現了人生笫一杯,飲罷感覺是享受的一杯齋啡!

The soup was ok, and the chicken tikka masala was really a little bland, but you feel like you can't argue with that when it is big portions and a relatively low price for western food.

I have also been here for dinner where there is a more expensive a la carte menu, with other British favourites like fish and chips, bangers & mash, shepherd's pie. A small piece of home away from home, but not quite how your mum makes it...

三個set lunch , 對吉列豬配薯條冇interest , 蕃茄羅勒汁天使麵配vegetable 又好像寡了少少 (我冇問佢地是甚麼vegetable??) , 所以選了 海鱸魚配薯蓉紅椒汁, 紅椒其實是燈籠椒, 所以唔辣, 燈籠椒即使打成汁, 因為都冇加入其他重味香料, 這個配搭估計是想帶出魚 鮮味食法, 魚雖然是煎過但肉仍滑, 而且和薯蓉都是沒有重重灑上鹽的. 鱸魚份量不太, 約3 安士咁尚下, 所以食完都唔會過飽

見唔飽, 想追加食物, 但佢地話lemom tart 冇晒
, 所以我改為加了一個 starter 吞拿魚碎牛油果沙律, 賣相精美, 令人喜歡, 健怡沙律醬汁, 令到牛油果(厚重感覺) 吞拿魚 (肉)感覺減低, 而且牛油果和吞拿魚碎會飽肚的


最後一杯coffee , 頗濃, 我問waiter 是否double shot ,但佢話因為用espresso 機去沖, 所以是會濃好多的, 是否真的是這樣不得而知

埋單共190 是一個很貴的午餐, 離開後,經過合和中心附近一間食德國菜的餐廳, lunch buffet only $185 還可以由12:00 食到4:30 ??

在灣仔星街、月街那些特色店鋪流連, 都會經過這間座落在船街上,拾級而上的餐廳,一間白色的小屋,有兩層,非常有特色。這天終於有機會來吃個午餐。選擇「樓上雅座」,有微微的陽光,好 warm ,有家的感覺。這裡午市有 Simple Lunch Menu,有餐湯、主菜和飲品,$88一位,甜品另加 $30。廚師已經挑選了當日菜式,有意大利粉、也有肉類主食。朋友點了炸豬扒配薯條 Tartar 汁,我就選了 seabass 配薯蓉。是日餐湯周打魚湯。周打魚湯應有的材料,不算太美味,不過我吃得出它的湯底有薯仔。主菜嘛,以 $88 一位,好 ok,豬扒肉鬆軟,鱸魚肉的味道也恰到好處;薯蓉呢,沒有用很多牛油和奶來拌勻,正是我比較喜歡的那種,吃起來不會覺得那麼肥膩。我是一個甜品王,當然忍不住點了一客是日甜品— Marble Cheese Cake。芝士味濃,算有水準;雖然是一人前分量,但也足夠跟朋友分享。餐廳的環境給人溫馨浪漫的感覺,是與小情人談心的好地方。

By chance, we found this lovely restaurant and we booked a table for the following days.
Ambience: Lovely with nice music in the background, very relaxing.
Service: Satisfied, Friendly & Attentive Staffs
Food: We ordered 3 Lunch sets, started off with a soup which is alright and in fact, I can't even remember what kind of soup we had.
Main courses: Farfalle with truffle sauce (excellent!!!), Steak Sandwhich (Kind of bland) and Seafood on mashed potato (Tasty). All are in good portion. We tried a dessert with extra cost of $30 ( a bit expensive) and we had Tiramisu (Is Good and again, is a decent portion).
The best part of all is, there is no queue waiting for our table so we had our lunch in peace for once. It is worth going back again and we did.

2nd visit, in a group of 5, 24 Nov
Ambience: Still, very lovely.
Service: Very Satisfied, this time a friend and I were there much earlier than the actual booking time but still, we were allowed to have the table and was served with a jar of warm water while waiting for the others. We were very impressed.

Food: Beetroot soup ( didn't like it much, watery and tastless, ) Main Courses: Grouper with salad/salsa (my friend found it too dry), Spring Chicken with Garlic Sauce (3 of us had it and were very satisfied, moist and tasty).
Overall, a satisfied lunch again. Looking forward to try the other dishes.
