I hear ppl talk about here's signature uni pasta in white pasta cream sauce, i thought it must be wonderful becoz both uni and truffle i luv.  but quite disappointed becoz both taste not too strong.  The cream is light but the potion is very very small so i think it is expensive.  it is a quite good pasta and it's sad now cannot find this pasta anymore.

還是喜歡大坑這間 No.5 意大利餐廳,銅鑼灣世貿那間分店不及本店水準咁好。環境氣氛也是大坑店更舒適和諧,平平靜靜更自在享受。每次來晚餐,也會點一份沙律,今次是 fig Parma ham salad ($148),清甜健康,簡單又好味。還有 mix veggies pizza ($148) ,足料雜菜,最後是 scallop red risotto ($158),味道很不錯,用紅菜頭汁去煮的意大利飯,值得一試。最後來兩份 tiramisu ($68 each) ,一人一份,大滿足!算係在香港,我食過好好味的tiramisu之一。那晚的服務生也挺不錯,會有笑容,反應也快,到位的服務,又唔會阻住你食嘢!

這間餐廳早在口袋名單中,終於有機會來試試,這次點了個pizza和虎蝦扁麵配龍蝦汁。先上桌的是pizza,手拍的餅皮,口感和脆度都相當好,配料也很豐盛,不過稍微集中在中央,使得每片pizza吃到後面有些空洞,美中不足。虎蝦扁麵配龍蝦汁,上面有兩隻肥美的虎蝦,相當新鮮又彈牙,麵條的口感是我鍾意的,帶有些微嚼勁,並非市面上一般的麵條,配上海鮮味十足的龍蝦汁,留下了美味的烙印,相當搭襯。只是份量不多,總有些意猶未盡

I never post reviews / comments but our experience last night was so terrible that I had to share on this occassion.

We ordered a glass of red wine each, entree was jamon on truffle toast and we shared our mains of beef cheek parpadelle and the blackboard special of ox and iberico pork spaghetti bolognese. All very low-risk options (in terms of risk of any food intolerance).

Taste wise - it was fine, though our beef cheeks was very tough, not like normal (which normally melted in your mouth / easily broken up by your fork). The rest of the evening was fine, until we got home and within 3 hours after our meal, it turned into a nightmare.

My husband had terrible stomach pains and was vomitting and had diarrhea. Then later that evening, I woke up at 3am with the SAME horrible symptoms for the next 2 hours!

We had diffferent meals / food before dinner and both were feeling fine. It wasn't until our dinner together that we experienced these terrible symptoms. We both have fairly high food tolerance, so such a strong reaction by our bodies to rid ourselves of our dinner was very unexpected!

We're not sure what happened last night, it was a shame because this is a nice place but after this experience, we are now very unlikely to return.

好多食評話一定要試海膽麵配白松露忌廉汁,呢個combination又真係特別得黎又出奇地夾喎,手做意麵質地似意大利雲吞皮,白松露忌廉汁香滑到真係停唔到口,加上海膽口感軟軟又鮮甜,真係幾好味囉,份量看似少,但飽腹感都勁架。

Pizza方面叫左Johnny's style, 餡料有parma ham,火箭菜,白松露油,蕃茄醬,水牛芝士。最中意正宗意大利pizza, 薄薄脆脆的食左唔覺好飽,以呢個parma ham既咸香,我估有18 個月或以上,雖然有白松露汁,但未見突出,應該俾parma ham搶左 (笑)。

雖然2個人食,叫左咁多野,但真係好好味,坐得舒服氣氛又好,搞到食慾大增,餓鬼上身咁,全部order既野都俾我地K.O.哂,好滿足好開心,下次會再黎食過,讚。

這是以食材取勝的一道菜式,只是大蝦的口感已跟一般的很不同。口感爽彈,蝦味甚濃,十分甜美。原來這兒的食材從意國和日本購入,因此味道跟一般食肆有點不同。用上脂肪較少的意大利腸和大虎蝦,簡單以蒜片、辣椒、香料以橄欖油炒香而成。個人特別喜歡那惹味的意大利腸,而伴吃火箭菜新鮮不苦澀,而且份量也不少,感覺健康。

用上最鮮美的加拿大海膽,而且足有5-6片海膽呢 ! 糾結着應否按店員的建議將海膽混進意粉內,最後還是決定先嚐海膽再嚐意粉吧! 鮮甜的海膽入口慢慢溶化,那香氣在口中久久不散,實在是人間極品。這時,當再嚐一口意粉時,仍是感覺到兩者的融合,實在是太美味了!

而手造意粉外型粗粗的,不規則的造型,讓意粉更能掛汁,配上稠度適中的白松露醬汁,吃下去滿口白松露的清香,入口彈牙且滿有蛋香,是真正al dente的質感,能嘗到這質素的意粉感覺無比幸福呢 !
雖然,這手造意粉不是我心中的No. 1,
但已是令我十分滿意,個人心水餐廳自此又多了這一間了。

作為意菜餐廳來說這價位屬合理的水平。

嘗過它的手造意粉後,
我倆都認為這兒的意菜正宗而有風味

用餐環境也很有格調,感覺十分舒適寫意。

We shared the soup between two and the waitstaff already helped us to divide the soup into two portions before bringing it out. The seafood included prawns, clams and scallop and they were very fresh. The handmade bread that comes with it was really good with the truffle butter provided.

Highlight of the night! This tasted soooo good! The linguine was cooked al dente and the creamy sauce was rich which balanced well and did not override the taste of the sea urchin.

We gave it a try anyhow. Won't complain about the ambiance - to be fair it's really quite welll-designed. Comfortable seats and the backyard looks a cosy. But it has got a strange smell all around; not sure if it's from the rest room or the kitchen.

The fancy euro menu offers a range of pastas, salads and quite a range of coffee - HK-style though judging from such choices like Caramel Latte, Banana Latte etc. I gave the 'House Coffee' a try and the bitterness didn't quite go off. Served with warm milk though.

The dishes - there are two vegetarian-friendly pastas with - as you might have guessed - mushroom. But I decided to have another 'Spaghetti with pancetta, asparagus and chili olive oil' a try, with pancetta taken out. My friend had a pizza. 

So for the pizza - it's quite proportionate for one person. Crispy base, but my friend reckoned the anchovies were too few, so it's not salty enough. My pasta - the portion is quite small - that kind of large bowl with only a small pot in the middle. I am really curious about the spaghetti - which was supposed to be homemade. It is so homemade-esque that it looks more like Chinese oily noodles to me than spaghetti, though its apparently al dente texture. We asked the waitress what kind of spaghetti it is - because forgive me I really had never tried spaghetti like this before - and the answer: pancetta. (You know pancetta is a kind of ham right?)

The good things are - I really think the staff are friendly and helpful; and the space is somewhere I would really want to go back again and again. Whilst the cooking and the pretentious EURO menu aren't really appealing; which I reckon is the problem with management. So... lets see if it survives the head-to-head competition in Tai Hang.
Other Info. : No lunch set. And that you have to do the calculation at the back of your head when you skim through every euro-priced item is really annoying.

I'm shocked at the poor reviews of this place as my experience tonight was really good. Especially with good company


Give it a try. The menu pricing is weird. EUROS? Weird but you can only pay in HKD. Just multiply by 10. ;)

And then to top it all off, they didn't have the wine we selected.  So we had one that was $200 more expensive - then they charged us for both.

On a side note..Tai Hang...just has pretty darn good food.LOOK at how cute this place is!!!! Part of me feels a little unease because I don't want to share my secret of this beloved place...but the legit foodie in me feels that I really should. How it's not a bigger eatery is beyond me? But thats probably one of the reasons why I like this place too. Personally, this is probably the most under rated Italian restaurantI've been to in months, years, since being in HK.

Its a humble small space seating 20 lucky few diners during every meal time. And, every time I've walked by, called in last minute has always gotten the same response- FULL BOOKING. Jess' Tip:
SO BOOK EARLY!!!! And, the menu does change, but some items are regulars! They have a big blackboard featuring their specials!
Look the cosy atmosphere and deco! Food is amazingly good...about the pricing... its listed in Euros!!!

Anywhere that has this dish..I'm gonna get it. I'm obsessed with the seafood broth, the bits of parsley, the flavourful aroma and of course the generous amount of seafood in every spoonful!!

No. 5 Italian is such a GEM!
DEFINITELY one of my picks for top eateries this year thus far!! GET THE PIZZA!!! (And, just about anything else)....it's definitely on the pricier side. But truly worth it. The foods that good.
