第一次食,個餐牌不夠清楚,真的不知邊個DESIGN,寫住ABC 餐,但完全不懂看,可以design 得更好的!其實個樣都OK 的,看落好似OK,但塊野好小,不夠食,LEE 個係“NO”檬,D汁是辣的,仲要勁多味精,食完好口乾,飲品就OK,係酸梅來的,不過不失啦,價錢都不便宜的!個粉都OK,正正常常沒驚喜LALW。環境就幾好。

今日嚟呢間日日都排長龍嘅越南粉麵店食LUNCH,入到去先坐低,因為有位同事行得慢,所以3位先入,想坐卡位,但係阿姐話一定要4位到齊先可以坐,禮貌極之唔好,已經解釋咗第四位唔使1分鐘就到。算數,先叫野食,真係想快快手食完即閃。越南火車頭湯河,配料都算足有牛丸,牛腩,牛筋,牛肉片。但係好可惜湯底唔得,一來唔夠熱,二來唔夠味。同埋連越式粉麵店一定要有嘅生辣椒絲,佢哋都冇提供,差!問佢哋挪仲要唔禮貌回答。越式炸春捲,炸得過晒火,只可以講得個黐牙,完全唔好食。真係唔知點解可以咁多人排隊嚟食,只可以話呢區冇其他越南粉麵店所以就變成獨市生意,應該以後都唔會再嚟!

Finally, I got a chance to sit inside Pho Tai. No take away. So on the menu tonight — Set E $48:- Ice Triplet in Coconut Juice (三色冰) + $3- Pig Neck Cold Vermicelli (越式豬頸肉撈檬)The cold drink looked good, but in the end it was still a little disappointing. In my opinion, the beans were not soft enough and the green jelly was too artificial. Food wise, it was a lot better. Loved the sauce! The cold drink looked good, but in the end it was still a little disappointing. In my opinion, the beans were not soft enough and the green jelly was too artificial. Food wise, it was a lot better. Besides the food being good, the Lai Chi Kok branch also offers different seating spots. I like how it has a bar style area with tall chairs and tables, normal height sitting area and booth seatings at the same time. The washrooms however are tiny and hidden near the restaurant's entrance. I had doubts even when the waitress told me where they were. But I have to say that the service is actually quite good. The staff were polite and friendly. This would be a nice place to be for casual dining.

牛肉河粉 - 摷暈得兩片, 另外加兩三小片牛肉碎片, 粉質小許(鞋)身.
雞扒飯 - 只是雞條一小堆, 而家好有o趙口...咬左好耐下.  味道只是一般.
小吃方面 - 粉卷, 兩團.  如不點汁的話, 入面是淡而無味的粉絲+菜.
               牛肉蝦片, 比較好的是蝦片, 牛肉一般一小塊, 粉絲及紅蘿蔔絲一團亂草, 好在都算ok.

最緊要一點, 放在枱旁的一細瓶紅辣椒粒, 竟然發毛...這個有點過份.  同侍應講左, 但只是換過一瓶就算, 連一聲sorry都無. 


寫這篇亦希望貴 店能日後有所改善.

Back to Pho Tai, this is a small chain of restaurants serving basic cheap Vietnamese food. I come here regularly because it is close to where I live and work and having missed lunch this on particular Saturday I really felt like a Vietnamese fix.

The decor of this place is simple and clean, they have just replaced their upholstry on their fixed seating and feels comfy. I order my usual, the Pho Tai (raw beef noodle soup), a serving of their deep fried spring roll and a coke.

First, the soup is typical of those found in HK. There's never enough beef flavour, traditional Pho beef stock is made from boiling a big chunk of beef brisket and oxtail. Not sure I can taste this in any soup stock in HK. The soup stock is bland with only a small hint of beef flavour, by adding the fresh basil and chilli provided it improves the taste, however negligible. At least they got something right, the soup is nice and hot and enough to cook the raw slices of beef to at least medium to medium rare.

The spring rolls are interesting. Depending on which country you eat them, like in France they all use rice paper (that's because they are brought frozen from the one supplier), and in places like Australia and USA, they tend to use the chinese spring roll wrapper. In this case they use the rice paper and they work well, only it's too small and every spring roll has a puncture which makes them extra burnt when deep fried. Flavour is pretty standard (after all it's deep fried), the filling is a combination of vermicelli, carrots, black fungus and a little mince pork. What I like though is the chewiness of the rice paper, then dipped into the fish sauce. Unfortunately, the fish sauce isn't as sour as it should but I presume that is to cater for local palette.

To put this into perspective, all this costs around $38 for high tea include a coke. Can't complain about the value however still craving for that authentic Vietnamese.

I would rate this an ok place however it's also relative with other Vietnamese restaurants in HK, it isn't any better, but surely not any worse. Can't complain though, as it's really good value.

NB. Just a side note, there is a write up about this restaurant from SCMP from a while back and the author says this is the real deal, claiming it is authentic Pho. This is one reason not to believe everything you read. It certainly ISN'T the real deal, but then again, neither are other Vietnamese eateries in HK.

今晩太太想食越南野,就試屋企附近的pho專門店。我們叫了雞絲湯河加熱檸蜜,我就叫了火車頭加凍檸茶小甜。太太發現雞絲湯河內數條長髮,可見衞生未逹水準。叫侍應換過。換了另外一碗,但又發現少了很多雞絲。侍應再拿多一些雞絲給我們。湯是雞白湯,很咸,太太食到一半冇食。熱檸蜜卻太甜。我預期的火車頭是很大碗。點知和雞絲湯河一樣咁大碗。𥚃面得兩塊熟牛肉,兩件牛腩,兩件牛筋,兩粒牛丸對切,湯是牛骨湯,很咸,冇牛味。早知叫生牛河算了。

我預期的火車頭是很大碗。點知和雞絲湯河一樣咁大碗。𥚃面得兩塊熟牛肉,兩件牛腩,兩件牛筋,兩粒牛丸對切,湯是牛骨湯,很咸,冇牛味。早知叫生牛河算了。

好少上o黎留言,但今日去完食lunch之後真係好激氣!!是咁的,叫豬扒湯濛,侍應阿姐話無「湯濛」的,只有撈濛! 已經覺得好莫名其妙,即係有濛粉但只可以乾撈,不能加湯!咁我叫左豬扒湯河,因為樓面d阿姐個個好忙咁,我想要d濛汁(即係酸甜魚露),坐張枱係無一支支擺係到,咁我坐得好近調味料櫃,就自己行過去拎左碗埋位(個櫃兩隻size的汁放係到,一種係小碗裝住多d的,一種係豉油碟咁細,好少),拎左返埋位,樓面阿姐見到即刻勁大聲咁喝我「你做咩自己拎碗汁呀?! 你食湯河唔可以拎碗檬汁,人地食撈檬可以要架!」 我同佢解釋,我落好多的廢事問完又問叫你地拎幾次.....阿姐聽完勁大聲話再同我講「你食湯河就唔可以拎咁多汁架!你要的話要收你6蚊!」 比佢鬧完第2次先明,佢好似話緊我唔可以叫湯河又落咁多汁....乜人地點食﹑咩口味都要你限住?!但比6蚊就可以囉!! 當時已經攪到全場人望住我勁監介! 好似我做左件錯事咁! 其實好多舖頭都成支汁擺係枱面比客人任落,我真係唔明點解佢地咁孤寒之餘仲要咁大聲鬧人~

早年(2011年)經常午餐,水準都OK , 今日(25-1-2013) 再到午餐 ,一行多人 , 我叫之一份咖哩鷄餐 , 味精比較多, 味比較之前重了一點 , 及真係大多油 (有相), 吃不下 , 小小失望 , 之前都吾係太差, 但今次比同事<炸型> 希望可改善 , 改善 !!

早去所以不用等位.叫了一個午餐:豬扒撈金邊粉包一柸飲品同一個小食 (木瓜沙拉). 味道 ok (6分 - 10分滿分)但放工回家後個口超口渴,多味精冇下次, bye bye. 都唔知點解有甘多人排隊. 失望!!!!!!
