媽咪心血來潮,午餐想食西班牙菜,記起友人曾經提及過QRE Plaza新開咗間西班牙餐廳Quemo,係近期o既潮點之一,所以就玩即興,約埋表姐同表妹去試新野。Quemo位於QRE Plaza六樓,地點其實好方便,離巴士、小巴、的士、電車及地鐡站都不遠,不過大廈最大問題係升降機,尤其係食完飯離開時,較底層餐廳內之食客往往要等幾轉先有位入;我地五個人當日結果等咗差不多成十分鐘先勉強入得到升降機離去 ,趕時間就慘啦!餐廳燈光柔和,間隔簡單,望落都幾順眼,空調如果可以強勁啲,感覺應更為舒適。大廳主要為四方形散座,枱櫈可隨意砌成不同大細o既座位,二人、四人、六人、八人或更長o既大枱都冇問題;餐廳其中一邊為酒吧,食客可選擇於吧枱用膳;室外亦設有座位,即吸煙者地帶,週末歡樂時光應該都幾多人吓。室內環境衛生本來都好合格,無奈因餐牌油淋淋,以及小弟於用膳時受到多隻蚊蟲滋擾 ,很是不爽,故不得不扣除幾分衛生分以示不滿 。服務方面,只懂英語o既外籍姐姐仔個個唔係面無表情,就係黑口黑面,見到佢地咁o既面口,食慾隨即大減 !好在店內都有位同聲同氣o既哥哥仔,其表演亦較為客氣有禮,餐飯先冇咁背脊骨落!媽咪一

室內環境衛生本來都好合格,無奈因餐牌油淋淋,以及小弟於用膳時受到多隻蚊蟲滋擾

服務方面,只懂英語o既外籍姐姐仔個個唔係面無表情,就係黑口黑面,見到佢地咁o既面口,食慾隨即大減
!好在店內都有位同聲同氣o既哥哥仔,其表演亦較為客氣有禮,餐飯先冇咁背脊骨落!

媽咪一心要黎試食,我地一眾後輩當然係任佢點菜啦,結果佢每個種類都叫咗啲,包括沙律、火腿、炒蛋、海鮮、肉類、飯同甜品,非常豐富!

總結,Quemo地點及室內環境原本不俗,但可惜離開餐廳時要排好耐隊先搭得到大廈升降機,所以就變得唔多方便,不過最令XO仔失望莫過於其服務生o既態度,食物o既質素及價格,令小肥不得不狠批午餐為「貴夾唔飽」

2 of us have tasted the below in this ocassion:

Beef-heart Tomato Salad with Tuna Tataki ($70) - this small portion was just right for 2 pax.  It was simple but it delivered clean and refreshing taste.  This was a perfect starter.

Marinated Anchovies ($68) - it delivered the traditional savory and fishy taste in a pleasant manner.  It was good to go with the mini toast but it also went well on its own.

Razor Clam ($168) - Simple preparation but just yummy!

Fried Egg with Foie Gras & Mushroom ($138) - this is Quemo's signature dish that we would always order.  

Iberico Pork Chop ($198) - this is a good value choice.  

Quemo Cheese Cake ($58) - it was not presented in the traditional cheese cake format but it delivered a good mix of flavours with use of the fruit sauce and chocolate ice cream.

The wines as recommended were just fine for the meals.

We wished there could be room for paella but we decided to leave it to the next visit.

The overall atmospher on Friday night was great.  It was busy but not over crowed.  Staff were friendly and offered just adequate attention to our needs.  No doubt we will be back from time to time.

Main: 個人好like果個用大大塊平鐵wok整既炒飯,又有pork又有seafood,好鮮好juice,個人覺得係極品!
Dessert: 有一個係2舊puff加hazelnut ice cream, 唔錯啦, 但有一個好似了結糖咁既白色cake, 樣好似cheesecake咁但白色, 唔識講, 好食到爆, 口感同味道既極致! 一定encore,唔洗諗, e但係我冇影相, 下次希望服務員聽得明,我食得返!

The tomato bread was a unique canvas for the smokey jamon, as well as the anchovies which were dusted lightly with queso and served with chargrilled grape segments. I love seeing white anchovies on tapas menus, they always act as a wonderful body for an array of interesting flavours and textures.

The tomato and tuna belly salad was easily my favourite of the night; I loved how the flavoursome tuna was lightly seared and tossed through the sweet and sour apple dressing. The heirloom tomatoes were thick cut, juicy and tasted unlike any other tomato I had ever had; it was an exceptional dish and something that I would return again and again for.

It was a jaw dropping moment to watch the paella proceed before us, with the pan still warm and exhibiting the most vivacious aroma. We were encouraged to dig into the cast iron pan, that was almost overflowing with shellfish and stir the sweet seafood through our fluffy mound of paella. The combination could certainly leave an impression on you; I loved the dish in it's entirety.

The paella may have been a hard act to follow but there was no faulting the perfectly cooked pork shoulder loin either. The potato puree was undeniably buttery, complimenting the crispy char of the pork, as well as it's meaty jus. Although I found that the end pieces were beyond my wellness preference, it was the ideal way to end a great meal on an unforgettable note.

I really enjoyed having such a relaxed and well paced dinner at Quemo - the service was sincere, extremely friendly and very considerate towards us having a little one at the table. I would have expected nothing less from a restaurant in Hong Kong, as it's very much so a part of their contemporary culture for fine restaurants to exhibit a family friendly standing. The patrons were of various demographics and it really did look like everyone else was having a great time too. I had a $200 off coupon and so the brunch, usually $388, was significantly cheaper. Between four of us we ordered almost the entire brunch menu. The tortillas were all good, particularly the chorizo, the garlic shrimps and barbecue mussels were also very good. The Vichyssoise was a slight disappointment; it tasted under seasoned.
The main courses were excellent. The slow-cooked ribs and the beef tenderloin were both accompanied by potatoes that had been purposely over mashed, giving them the texture of melted cheese. There was a slightly sweet taste to it which I didn't like. The black cod with a ratatouille of vegetables was so good that I would have happily swopped my beef tenderloin for it.
The Catalan-style paella was a very thin layer of rice cooked until it began to crisp up. This was served with a sliced scallop. The complimentary pan con tomate was great.
The cheesecake with passion fruit and yellow bell pepper sauce was ordered by three out of four of our group and was soft and delicious.
The free-flow Cava and the free-flow ham topped off a great meal.
I would come back and pay full price, particularly when you consider how many drinks you get in SoHo and other trendy places for $388.

First of all, the price range indicated is miles away from reality... For two people drinking a bottle of wine (and we went low range), and eating reasonnably we paid more than $550 per head! Watch out!

I have to say the ambiance is quite cold, almost like a quiet company canteen, nothing remotely connected to Spanish lively lifestyle. Normally, i wouldn't mind too much but 2013 has seen so many amazing Spanish restaurants opening in town with real identity and character that Quemo immediately seemed boring.

A positive point is that the staff is friendly and helpful though sometimes messy.

Now... the food! Surely made with qualitative products, many of them imported from Spain, but extremely flat, common, with nothing making your tastebuds sparkle (a shame for iberian food!). Fried eggs with ham were nice but really small and so salty, tomatoes were clearly unripe and the supposedly famous catalan rice was overcooked (this dish is supposed to be their masterpiece). We wanted to try out local wines but no solid explanation was given to us, so we picked randomly a wine that was quite heavy and high in alcohol. A bit sad considering we tried a few Spanish wines recently that were brilliant.

To conclude, Quemo is probably the least fun and salivating restaurant from Spain in HK today. Its high prices don't help either. I wish to try many other authentic restaurants from that gorgeous country in the coming month, as they say "viva espana", but definitely not in Quemo.

可惜接著落來的甜品部分卻是最令我們失望的。無論是包著朱古力餡料炸小麵粉球配榛子雪糕的Liquid bombons ($65),還是蘋果蓉做餡的炸小麵球配乳酪雪糕的apple bunuelos ($65)味道都只有甜,而且以此定價,真是不值。

最終沒有聽侍應的話,只點了三款頭盤,首先曝光的是招牌菜 El Quim de la Boqueria's fried egg。
廚師起用了鵝肝醬、磨菇、鮮蝦、筍和多士來配搭單調的煎河包蛋。侍應特別介紹品嚐這道菜式時,要先把蛋漿跟其他配料弄得均勻,我也沒有偷懶,跟足步驟去做。

嘗試一匙收集各種配料的樣本,入口試試,味道感覺有點過於豐富,層次太複雜,橄欖油和蒜蓉味都頗重,因此相對較溜。個人很喜歡當中的蒜香大蝦,鮮味又彈牙,但其他材料混合而成的味道卻感覺不太匹配。

食物的水準的確不錯,倘若是晩餐跟一班好友分享的話,一定賞心悅目。不過因午巿不設套餐的原故,點菜實有點麻煩。(例如:一般西班牙鐵窩焗飯都已經索價接近$400,這只是一人份量而已!感覺不太抵食。)

個人意見是一人份量應該大約等於兩個頭盤,或是一個頭盤搭一款燒烤菜式 ("Barbacoa"),雖然各款冷熱葷的大小各異,但千萬切記不要點菜點得太多!

It is not even funny how much we Hong Kongers love Spanish food and how many new Spanish restaurants have sprung up recently. Quemo, a collaboration between Elite Concepts (of yè shanghai, nanhai No.1 and 1/5 nuevo) and Quim Marquez, the owner of the eponymous El Quim de la Boqueria in Barcelona, is a casual, upbeat Spanish restaurant in QRE Plaza that serves modern Spanish tapas with an inventive twist. The spacious venue comprises a large dining room furnished with light wooden furniture, a private dining area as well as an outdoor patio. The service at Quemo is friendly and engaging, and the prices are also reasonable, with a dinner typically setting you back around $400-500 per head.

My friend organized her birthday dinner here. As we were a big group and ordered several servings of each dish, the photos of the food and drinks below may not represent normal portions at the restaurant.

一星期試了經朋友推介的 quemo 同 fofo。在quemo, 我地點咗 squid salad, mushroom with prawn 同 Mediterranean paella。squid salad 比較impressive 因squid 較juicy, 內面加上salad 更有口感。paella - 比較失望,可能朋友太過推舉,期望過高。飯身較硬,clams 分開上同一點over cook, 賣相一般。整過paella 感覺像risotto, 不太似正中的Spanish style, overall ok 但fofo 的paella比較味濃及足料。問了待應2次mushroom with prawn 是否熟食佢話係,mushroom on 係熟但蝦係生cancel the dish。冇叫任何cocktail, 因坐在bar 枱常常聽到 bartendar 問lee 果點沖,嗰個點沖,好似太過新手。

The Chorizo lollipops filled with quince jelly and goat’s cheese were a delicious start to the meal. Sweet quince jelly (a fruit somewhat like a pear), together with the more neutral tasting cheese was complemented with two pieces salty chorizo. The El Quim de la Boqueria’s Fried Egg with prawn was an accidental order (we thought all options of fried egg came with foie gras, but turns out only the mushroom one has it.) We were instructed to combine the fried egg and prawns together. This resulted in a gooey, crispy, yolky mixture which we dipped into with toasted bread. It was scrumptious and the prawns were sweet, succulent and nicely marinated but for the price I would have expected a few more pieces of prawn. If I come back I would definitely try out the mushroom and foie gras combination!

For our main course, we ordered the Squid ink pallela with cuttlefish and clams, which was easily my favourite dish of the night. Served on a large pan, the pallela was thinly spread out and contained little bits of cuttlefish. The clams were served separately alongside with a dish of alioli. The pallela itself was of a delectable texture, and deliciously sweetened due to the squid ink and the cuttlefish bits. The clams too were sweet and juicy and I enjoyed scooping up my pallela with the clam shells, placing a dollop of alioli and top and eating the pallela and clams in one bite.

Finally, for dessert (even though by now we were so full that we considered not having dessert), we opted for the Liquid bonbons- which consisted of soft chocolate dumplings with hazelnut ice cream. The chocolate dumplings were served hot and as you bit into them melted chocolate oozed out- it was similar to a death-by-chocolate encased in mochi, so you can imagine how decadent it tasted! I’ve always loved the combination of hot and cold foods so this dish was no exception- the hazelnut chocolate blended deliciously with the bonbons and was rich and flavourful.

The service was friendly and the food delicious, although quite pricey when you added in service charge, price of water etc. If you’re looking for cheap tapas in Hong Kong this is probably not the place for you. Other than that, I would definitely give it a try!
