We made a booking on openrice. When we arrived at the restaurant, the waiter didn't really bother to check the booking list and said he would clear a 4 person table for us. At this moment, another group of customers came in and and without notice our table was given to them whilst we continued to stand. We were very frustrated but the waiter seemed to think it was fine. The waiter then took extremely long to clear the table and at the end we had to sit down first at an uncleared table because we were already exhausted. 
We immediately ordered food and drinks and here the real nightmare started. The food (even the drinks) took so long to come despite we complained several times . The starter eventually arrived and we realised it was something which didn't even require any cooking. We were so shocked that it took so long for them to even serve some dry crackers. The food weren't great either. We regret sitting there waiting for the food - we should have left and went somewhere else.

因為朋友想吃印度餐,所以前來試試這間餐廳。因為我們7點來到,所以未算太多人。環境很好,靜靜地感覺很舒服。我們點了份無骨燒雞。蕃茄上加了枝蠟燭,賣相十分吸引。吃落也沒有失望,十分香口我們點了一份奶油咖喱雞。這個哪有咖喱雞充滿奶油味,而且咖喱不會太辣。咖喱是甜甜的,可謂十分滋味。我們又點了一份乳酪烤餅,用來點奶油咖哩雞的汁。吃了一口,發覺乳酪烤餅充滿芝士味,再點奶油咖哩汁真的非常滋味。我們有點了一份芝士燴菠菜茸。菠菜茸與芝士溶合,非常香口。

昨晚約了朋友往此餐廳試食印度咖喱, 雖然此餐廳大廈門口設在横街, 但內面的裝饰和音响都很有印度味道。我們要了:芒菓奶昔, 蒜蓉烤餅、咖喱鱼、咖喱羊肉、芝士菠菜蓉、蕃紅花飯、烤鳼、芝士烤餅、春卷等。可能當時多客人的关係, 我們要等候一些時間才可以吃齐所有食物。奶昔很稠和充滿香濃芒果香味, 春卷很新鲜、熱和爽脆, 加上有三色醬同吃,滋味無窮。各色咖喱香滑甘甜, 和以前吃過的與別不同, 烤餅軟而脆, 加以咖喱汁同食, 別有一番風味。蕃紅花飯與咖喱同食, 飯粒軟硬適中,令人回味。咖喱鱼和咖喱羊肉的口感各有特式。湯水內好似有薯蓉一起同煮, 喝起來有另外一番感覺。但是那烤鳼就有些過鹹和稍微過火, 芝士菠菜蓉的味道只是一般, 並沒有特別口感。此餐廳亦有其它二人、四人和六人套餐可供一家大細选择。

Though not a high-end restaurant, the dining facilities are perfect for guests to unwind with friends and family and savour a hearty lunch after a     shopping spree in Central or dinner to celebrate a special occasion. There is a lot of room to walk around and amidst the. I visited this place with  mum and was delighted that I made the right choice!

The soul of this restaurant is definitely the food, with each dish being a ‘piece-of-art’ prepared with passion and careful articulation. Just take a        look at the photos- they are worth thousands of words.

The menu is extensive with plenty of vegetarian and non-vegetarian selection on the list. 

Masala Papadams and Tandoori Lamb Shanks are, literally a ‘Visual Feast’ to the eyes- with shanks wrapped in silver foil and papadams resembling a gorgeous flower. Another dish that really sings is Navratan Korma, a mixed vegetable dish that is incredibly creamy with fantasticdeep flavoured gravy that is bursting with aroma of delightful spices. Paneer Palak, a perfect combination of cheese and spinach, is truly excellent. The two rice dishes to stand out are Kashmiri Pulao and Veg Biryani. The soft, fluffy garlic-butter naan bread and Kashmiri Kulcha, both with crisp crust are prepared fresh for each table and served by the friendliest staff.

From the tandoor the “Paneer Tikka” emerges as a real favourite. The intense char-grill notes from the authentic tandoor kick off the blend of         spices and lock in the succulence of the spicy cottage cheese bits. The best part is that each dish was cooked in gravy (sauce) that not only looked  different but also has a distinct flavor, unlike many restaurants. 

A must-have drink, Mango Lassi, is a heavenly concoction of mango pulp and creamy yogurt. In fact, it is the best way to wash down the spiciness  of food.

Everything was superb including the dessert, Gulab Jamum.  However, Rabri, another dessert, failed to deliver.  

Overall, Rang Mahal is a fantastic restaurant, for Indian food lovers offering a great value for money. Highly recommended!

There is no difficulty in finding Indian restaurant in Hong Kong as there is a huge influx of immigrants over the years, but to have really good ones around there are only a handful of them.  After some researching on Openrice, this restaurant rank among the top in Hong Kong island for Indian food. On this particular Saturday evening, i decided to bring my wife here to indulge in some Indian cuisine. There is no difficulty in finding Indian restaurant in Hong Kong as there is a huge influx of immigrants over the years, but to have really good ones around there are only a handful of them.  After some researching on Openrice, this restaurant rank among the top in Hong Kong island for Indian food. 
On this particular Saturday evening, i decided to bring my wife here to indulge in some Indian cuisine. Upon reaching, they have a very nice ambience. It was small and cosy, yet still allow ample space for some privacy talk. After ordering our food, i chatted with the manager for awhile. Their Indian cuisine was more of the northern side such as New Delhi and normally patrons will need to call in to reserve as they were usually full.

They offer a wide variety of food on their menu. For example, they offer many choices for their signature curry in term of the taste and version. Even for their bread, there were many flavours that we can choose from.

Papadum - Usually for Indian meal, they will serve some papadum as appetizers. Some sauce were provided for us to dip into as the papadum will be quite dry if consumed alone. I enjoy this side dish the most as it was done till very crispy, yet not overly dry.

Mango lassi - Whenever i visit an Indian restaurant, i will go for mango lassi as i feel that it was a drink that could not go wrong. The lassi was thick and smooth and it taste good. The only comment i have is that it could be colder.

Masala prawn - When served, the gravy was thick and i could see that there were alot of herbs and spices in it. Prawn was crunchy and juicy. But this dish was just normal to me, as i feel that it did not bring out the essence in it. It was not spicy at all and it was served not warm. I prefer that it was cooked cooking their usual spiciness level instead of accomodating back Hong Kong taste bud.

Sauces that most Indian restaurants usually serve. I personally am a big fan of the mint sauce (The green one of course), tastes right with everything.

The other two I am not sure what they are called, but one of them tastes really like the Korean chili sauce and the other one tastes barbecue.

Surprising dishes coming up!

Lamb shanks are so nice. The meat is very soft and fell off from the bone very easily, can tell these have been cooked for a while but to perfection when we order.

Pairing with the barbecue sauce I have mentioned earlier, definitely doubles up the deliciousness!

Cannot miss any curry in an Indian Restaurant, and we ordered the chicken curry. From the Chinese menu, I though what will be arriving is a medium size of curry, turns out one person portion. But that's okay as we already had enough from the snacks and lamb.

In case if you can't take too spicy, you are always welcome to tell the staff to reduce the spiciness.

For curry, they carefully divided them into few groups, you can flexibly combine with any of the main and like I said also choose your own spiciness.

Here is some after dinner spice mix before we leave, to settle the bad breath.

Overall of this meal, staff is very friendly, relaxing atmosphere and colourful presentation. Eating in Central is quite luxurious but this place is surprisingly similar to Kowloon. The staff also told us that they also serve lunch buffet at HKD 88 (exclude 10% service charge).

This price in Central, YES, sounds really a deal! Wonder how it goes, and I am willing to give it a try.

本來想吃Masala Curry,但店員努力用英語提醒我對面這位不吃辣的朋友,所以最後轉了chicken Makhani 。有奶油的咖哩,好像特別幼滑,甜味令人很想要一碗白飯。雞肉份量也不少,都是去骨的。我們再叫了一碟Cheese Naan,不是我想像中的拉絲芝士,只是有芝士粉在中間,不過還是很惹味的。

Main course 1: Chicken Makhani curry. It was recommended by the staff. It tastes like butter curry – a bit sweet and spicy (mild). My colleague and I love this one so much as it matches with the Nann very well. Main course 2: Lamb Shank Curry – We love eating lamb in an Indian restaurant because they usually make it very tender and matches well with the curry. This dish comes with 2 lamb shank. They are huge and tender. The curry sauce tastes exactly different from the first main course. This one is more suitable for people who likes salty food.
