I was around Pacific Place 3 no a Sunday afternoon. While waiting for a friend to come and pick me up, I decided to try this reatuarant as I was a little hungry. I had walked past this restuarant many times but never tried it. As I looked from the outside, it was almost empty (being 4pm), and knowing my friend was on his way, I thought there would be more than enough time to have something to eat before he arrived. So I walked in and was greeted and seated. So I walked in and was greeted and seated. It was afternoon tea time and I quickly ordered beef noodles and a drink. The drink, made with water and Kumquat, was so diluted that you might as well ordered plain water. It was a disaapointing start.
After some 15 minutes and with the restuarant now empty, I was still waiting for my beef noodles. I told the waiter to follow up and he walked away and I wasn't sure if he did anything as another 10 minutes passed and there were still no noodles to be seen!
I had to ask another waiter and this time he did follow up and came back and told me the noodles would be served in 2 minutes. But no word of apology whatsoever.
The noodles finally arrived. The soup was taseteless and the noodles were undercooked or slightly too al dente for my taste. The beef was OK, but when you put everything together, it wasn't a good quality bowl of beef noodles.
More Xiyan restuarants have opened in the last year, but I would say to Jacky Yu "quality and not quantity counts". I was a fan of Xiyan when it first opened but the general view is that their standards have sort of declined since?
