Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to read the reviews before stopping by this place. It was shockingly expensive and the whole time, the owners and staff had a very poor attitude and gave us the feeling they were trying to scam us. As an example, we told them we wanted the larger clams which cost $280 HKD for 4 instead of $240 HKD however when picking out the seafood, they picked up the small ones and only after we questioned continuously did they reluctantly and with an extremely poor attitude, dump the small ones back and pick out the big ones. This was the first sign of a scam.
As we spoke about this amongst ourselves at the table, the owner came over angrily and made a loud statement that they were not scammers and that they made an honest mistake before storming off. Essentially, they wanted us to shut up so other people could not hear. Although we had every right to complain, we stopped talking about it.
They had minimum portions for a lot of their seafood which I understand especially if they want to avoid patrons trying little portions of one item and running off but because we wanted to try a few things (clams, snails, abalone prawns and crab), our bill cost almost $2,000 HKD for 3 people (including a 10% service charge slapped on top)!!! I can guarantee I could get much better service and enjoy better ambience and food for that price at a 5 star restaurant.
As we obviously over ordered because of their enforced minimum portions, we asked for a takeaway box and was given a very judgemental look.
Finally, we were refused the request for an itemised receipt and we were not even allowed to take a picture of the prices they wrote down against each item on their order slip. Absolutely unbelievable.
Please take your money elsewhere and boycott this place.
