Why is it that most restaurants standards drop away after they've been open a few months or try expanding. Mr-Bing was tasty and flavoursum when it opened in Central. Tried the new Wanchai store last week only to find the original and char siu bings bland and flavourless. 熱哄哄的煎餅~~ 星期六下午放工, 個肚餓到打鼓, 途中經過中環呢間新開的老金煎餅, 梗係要試下先~~中環呢間店舖裡面空間不算太大, 都擠滿了食客, 先到收銀機付款, 等叫號碼, 等了大約15分鐘, 終於到我的號碼, 可以站在店員前, 一邊欣賞店員的悉心下廚, 一邊聞著香噴噴氣味!! 烤北京片皮鴨煎餅~~ 好熱, 薄餅皮超薄, 包住勁多材料有片皮鴨, 洋蔥, 紫薑, 青瓜, 黑芝麻,蔥......都抵食又好味!!

時光倒流數月前,那時還是冬天,吃的是烤鴨煎餅 ($48)。那時煎餅只有一個大小,看著店員弄煎餅也真像看表演: 先將麵粉漿倒在圓形的煎盤上掃開,兩邊煎成餅後掃上醬汁,放上餡料、薄脆和黑芝麻,再將煎餅摺疊好便行了。弄好最好熱騰騰現吃,於是便走到地庫的樓下雅座去。煎餅果然是很大件,煎餅加了雞蛋去煎,是軟軟的,跟咔咯作響的薄脆形成不同的層次,醬汁應該有南乳,味道很濃但吃下去竟有點玫瑰露味!配料除了烤鴨肉絲之外還有青瓜、京葱、酸薑等等,多是惹味之物,加上煎餅份量甚大,吃完真是十二成飽的!

半年後再來,店家可能發現香港人的胃口應該沒北京人的大,所以煎餅都分了兩款大小-就是多了一款較小型的 baby size;加上現今流行素食,所以也增添了一款素食的鹹煎餅,就是綠色煎餅 (baby size $30, 標準 $35)。我要個小的就行了。

今次我學乖了,怕吃薄脆的我雖然知道可以轉油條做配料,但還是叫做餅的北京大媽索性不要下了。她還告訴我他們用的生菜可是羅馬生菜來的,見我不要薄脆還多送我一片菜!

煎餅裡照樣有雞蛋和黑芝麻,仍然香口不過餅就比上次吃的薄;南乳醬仍是很搶鏡,但今次多了一點點辣醬做對手,兩者爭持不下的時候,青瓜和生菜的清新感就剛好來做和事老了。餅小了,剛好夠飽,味道雖然偏於濃重但也不會太膩。

有機會還會試試那外表黑漆漆但估計味道不錯的甜煎餅等。

成日見到人來人往,終於忍唔住試下。點知見面不如聞名。點了老金燒餅,基本上由不同醬汁混合如甜醬,南乳,但混合放在餅上再加熱,味道不太討好!終於可以一試,質感似Crepe但冇乜味,醬汁味道不合口味,有點失望。或者太正宗吧!

較早前係雜誌見到介紹,外國人開既煎餅店好有賣點,終於今日有機會幫襯。叫左個老金煎餅,新鮮即叫即整,等左一陣就有。煎餅塊頭幾大,同女友兩份一人一半;拎上手香味直撲鼻腔,未食已經流緊口水。因為熱騰騰既關係,一小口一小口咁食,每啖都食出唔同既材料,口感不俗。唯一挑剔既地方係味道上食到最底偏咸,我個人就喜歡,但唔係個個都鐘意。另外佢有套餐配酸梅汁或者豆漿。下次有機會再試

The shop is in sharp yellow colour with a cute chef logo, it is easy to spot on the street. There was a man in Mr. Bing's customer standing in front of the shop for advertisement. I feel sorry for him because Hong Kong is really hot and he must be dying in there. The owner was at the door welcoming customers too.

The pancake was much crispier than expected! Perhaps it's the extra crisp that they put in? It was very flavourful with all the house sauce, chili paste, tofu paste, cilantro, leek and egg put in. The lots of black sesame on the bing did add an extra taste and aroma boost to the bing and made it really good. I originally thought it would be something like my favourite fluffy Taiwanese pancakes (手抓餅), but this crispy and moist bing is good too!

I actually went pass the shop many times, but never really got a chance to try it before. Finaly I tried it(thanks to my cat). It tasted quite yum but it is a bit pricey as it doesn't fill my stomach. I guess I could have it as a snack next time before dinner.

呢間舖未開前, 有日經過見到佢招牌棟左嚮地下, 見到個名同招牌好騎呢, 仲要寫簡體字. 心諗係唔係大陸人投資整d呃鬼佬中餐? 估唔到過左兩個禮拜後就響openrice開始見到好多好評. 原來係鬼佬煎中國餅…都係對個concept冇乜好感, 所以一路冇意欲食. 但既然今晚冇飯食, 見離我巴士站唔遠, 決定黎買個外賣.叫左個招牌烤鴨煎餅, 綠豆粉, 薄脆. $48都幾貴. 睇住個幾nice的英文亞洲人整. 落左漿之後估唔到打隻蛋落去然後反轉再煎, 不過隻蛋都幾細, 應該唔會好大作用. 跟住睇佢加醬, 落青瓜, 心諗落咁少既?! 跟住落鴨肉, 一樣都係好少. 用咁少料收我48蚊, 真好賺. 之後仲加左塊脆餅.打開袋聞一聞, 又幾香播! 食啖就…煎餅超淋, 醬多, 加埋成pat野咁, 好彩有塊脆餅, 有d咬口. 一如所料, 料少, 肉算ok, 唔鞋有d鴨味, 味基本上都係靠個烤鴨醬, 如果你同我一樣鍾意食烤鴨醬, 一定唔會覺得好難食, 但最難受係食食下食到兩條骨出黎...總結: 唔難食, 但一d都唔好食. 有諗過因為嗰兩條骨卑喊, 但見香港冇呢種店, 放你一馬啦.

The last time I had Jian bing was when I was a kid living in Inner Mongolia for the summer. My aunt bought me this steaming package saturated with sauce, spring onion and crispy bo cui folded in the middle and I got incredibly excited when I realized that there was a jianbing store in HK. I ordered the original in hope that I would be able to taste this miraculous thing I had when I was a kid and to be honest, it didn't live up to my memory. 自老金煎餅開業以來,在下還未曾造訪過,老金亦是在下一直想去的店子,無奈沒有機會來造訪。適逢今天由公司出發過海到西環辦事,趁機會來老金吃一個煎餅好了。由老外經營的煎餅店,除了各式煎餅外,還有京城最出名的冰糖葫蘆,有山渣味及草莓味,各式的飲品和醬料。在下從餐單中點選了一客叉燒煎餅,全程都是即叫即造,保證了新鮮熱辣。由煎餅加醬料再加餡料,全部都是人手製作,看著店員純熟的製作技巧,令在下佩服呢!煎餅已經弄好,並已經拿到手來,煎餅非常之熱,吃一口蛋餅煙韌而叉燒鬆化,加上辣醬,惹味無窮。話雖辣醬,其實味道不算太辣,以在下口味,卻是微辣的,而叉燒醬也十分地道,每一口醬汁都是叉燒醬,甜而不膩,與叉燒味道完全很夾。而且煎餅份量十足,可以當一餐午飯吃呢。豆漿方面,只是一般,並沒有太強烈的豆味,也不覺得太甜。老金煎餅地方小小,不設座位只設企位,所以在店子吃餅,也須得企定定來吃一個餅。而亦不少客人都會在店子裡企定定吃的。服務方面也蠻滿意,快捷也有禮。

I have always wanted to try these candied fruits on a bamboo stick that are about 20cm long. They come from Beijing and some cities in China.In mandarin it is pronounced bingtanghulu.The traditional ones are Chinese Hawthorns dipped in sugar syrup which results in a hardened sugar coating.To me Chinese Hawthorns remind me of tiny crab apples!Anyway, thanks to Mr Bing for importing these Candied fruits because it was my first time trying them.I have seen them before at fairs but never tried them

Anyway, thanks to Mr Bing for importing these Candied fruits because it was my first time trying them.
I have seen them before at fairs but never tried them because I wasnt sure if they were clean and it is difficult to eat things on skewers when there are lots of people walking about.

At Cheung Chau Island, there is a thing similar to this, it is basically assorted fruits on a stick which are in frozen form.

At Mr. Bing's they have strawberry or Hawthorn.

After I read Ivy Cwk's review I just had to come and try it.
It was rock hard because it was frozen, but the exterior of the wrapper had syrup so it was mega sticky.
I was really fortunate Mjqueen7e who I was dining with that day had wet tissues!!
To be honest it was fun eating a frozen strawberry but the sugar coating on the outside was way too sweet and the strawberry was very sweet itself.

The strawberries had rice paper on the outside to keep it from sticking to the wrapper.

It was good the stick in the middle was nice and rigid and did not snap half way through!

我沒有幫襯 <老金煎餅> 已經有好一段時間,最近,專程走來看看有什麼新口味?似乎新口味仍未吸引我的垂青!反而,給我發現有久違了的冰糖葫蘆賣!店內有 A 貨冰糖葫蘆作裝飾,幾可亂真!冰糖葫蘆 (草莓) $18 分別有草莓或山楂兩款口味!放在雪櫃裡的冰糖葫蘆,獨立包裝!方便衛生!打開包裝袋,見到 6 粒士多啤梨被透薄的冰糖包圍!由於,士多啤梨已雪過長時間,一咬入口即散! 酸酸甜甜!充滿冰涼的感覺!真爽! 如果,夏天食更正!我印象中,小時間食的冰糖葫蘆表面紅卜卜,入口酸咪咪!可能方便運送的關係,要冷藏!跟傳統口味有點出入! 卻食出另一番風味!

由於,士多啤梨已雪過長時間,一咬入口即散!
酸酸甜甜!充滿冰涼的感覺!真爽!

如果,夏天食更正!


我印象中,小時間食的冰糖葫蘆表面紅卜卜,入口酸咪咪!可能方便運送的關係,要冷藏!跟傳統口味有點出入!

I was wandering around central and stumbled upon the infamous Mr. Bing so of course I couldn't pass up on it. The store is a little cute place with lots of colorful decoration and a big ducky as a logo. It's definitely eye catching so nobody would miss it. I was wandering around central and stumbled upon the infamous Mr. Bing so of course I couldn't pass up on it. The store is a little cute place with lots of colorful decoration and a big ducky as a logo. It's definitely eye catching so nobody would miss it.

I decided to order the Peking duck bing since that's the classic. First you pay, then you proceed for them to call your # to see your bing being made. It's actually pretty fun watching them make it. First they make the outer thin layer of the bing, then spread hoisin sauce all over it. Then two scoops of cubed Peking duck go on it along with cucumber on top. Lastly a crispy piece of cracker-like chip goes in. All folded and wrapped in a paper bag ready for you to take away! I wasn't expecting the bing to be sooo big! One is definitely too filling for one person. As to the taste, I think overall it's decent. The duck is actually good and the crispy chip inside just adds the perfect texture to the bing. The only thing is the sauce is kind of too sweet. So maybe less sauce would be better. For the price and the quality of food, I would definitely come back when I want to grab a quick bite!

Finally 黎到老金煎餅,個location 真係幾難尋找ga !! 😓😓 我地4個人叫左2份餅,烤鴨同埋hk style !! 見到佢即場整,好香,好想快d食到!😝😝烤鴨嘅料好足,有鴨肉,青瓜,脆餅,加上秘制醬汁,好似食緊一份加大版ge 片皮鴨,好滿足,好飽肚!!😗😗 之後就食甜ge,用左紫米皮同埋我最愛嘅peanut butter n condense milk combination ,聞到己經好香!!雖然冇紫米味,但係花生醬同脆餅已經好足夠!😄😄

要了兩份蛋餅一咸一甜,四人share老北京蛋餅 ($48)就是烤鴨蛋餅,蛋餅裡有薄脆大餅一塊,片皮鴨絲,青瓜絲,秘製醬汁烤鴨很香很香,量也很多,肉質鮮嫩一點也不老軟嫩的鴨肉加上薄脆和新鮮青瓜,口感一流用的是original的綠豆皮,很Q很彈牙整個蛋餅煎出來很厚很厚,很飽肚,很實在,餡料多到漏,超讚!港式蛋餅 ($28)因為是港式,所以里面有薄脆大餅一塊,還加了花生醬和煉奶其實就是奶醬多的“多”換成了蛋餅餅皮選了紫米皮,吃下去沒有綠豆皮(origianl)那麼有嚼頭那麼Q,紫米皮比較軟爛,雖然紫米味不濃,但整體來說,香香的花生醬配上脆脆餅還是不錯的

就是烤鴨蛋餅,蛋餅裡有薄脆大餅一塊,片皮鴨絲,青瓜絲,秘製醬汁
烤鴨很香很香,量也很多,肉質鮮嫩一點也不老
軟嫩的鴨肉加上薄脆和新鮮青瓜,口感一流
用的是original的綠豆皮,很Q很彈牙
整個蛋餅煎出來很厚很厚,很飽肚,很實在,餡料多到漏,超讚!

因為是港式,所以里面有薄脆大餅一塊,還加了花生醬和煉奶
其實就是奶醬多的“多”換成了蛋餅
餅皮選了紫米皮,吃下去沒有綠豆皮(origianl)那麼有嚼頭那麼Q,紫米皮比較軟爛,雖然紫米味不濃,但整體來說,香香的花生醬配上脆脆餅還是不錯的
