We had our New Year's Eve dinner here in this wonderful restaurant, literally the Backyard of Tai Po Market. This restaurant is just a few minutes walk away from the Tai Po Market MTR and just across the street from Tai Po's busy market square. We think the location is very convenient. Although a bit hidden, I confirm that this place is indeed a hidden gem in Tai Po. If you're looking for Western food in Tai Po Market, this is the place to go to.
The interior design of this restaurant is beautiful and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We really got the impression that the whole restaurant is working together as a team, giving their best to provide an unforgettable dinner experience and atmosphere for the customers. You enter the restaurant and feel like you're not even in Tai Po anymore!
Now to the important part: the food! It was definitely surprising, so delicious and the best Western food we've tasted in Tai Po for sure, given the value of the price! We ordered the lobster and the steak, which were on the New Year's Eve menu special. Both dishes were so delicious with the right amount of seasoning and beautifully presented. The appetizers (soup and salad) were equally appetizing. I particularly enjoyed the salad, which had some turkey slices and pear pieces, a combination I never thought would go so well together! But the highlight of the night for me was definitely the dessert! The Chocolate Fondant! I think it takes a master to bake this cake, as the chocolate needs to reach the right temperature of still remaining fluid and warm and yet not being too overbaked as to become dry. And boy was I in it for wonderful surprise, having found that the chocolate was just perfectly baked! Together with the scope of vanilla ice cream, I was left completely satisfied with this New Year Eve's dinner.
We will definitely come back to this restaurant and recommend it to anybody looking for Western food in Tai Po!
