I went to Fiata today with a friend for lunch. My friend had booked for 12pm and the place was already buzzing on arrival. A slightly burnt dough smell caught my attention as I waited outside. The waiting staff appeared efficient, professional and friendly upon checking in. Our table was upstairs. The dimness of light and coldness of the aircon struck me upon entering the upper seating area. I'd probably like that vibe for dinner, but not on a slightly fresh but very bright day like today. Suc
Our table was upstairs. The dimness of light and coldness of the aircon struck me upon entering the upper seating area. I'd probably like that vibe for dinner, but not on a slightly fresh but very bright day like today. Such a vibe makes for a gloomy atmosphere for a lunch. We both ordered the pizza set lunch, which with service came to about $HK 186 per head. That included a very small salad, a large pizza and a drink. We both opted for hot chocolate afterwards. Most people are going there for the pizza since there seems to be a buzz about this joint.
However, straight to the point, the pizza was very mediocre. Essentially, a big doughy bread with flimsy, extremely ordinary toppings. Although the dough wasn't bad, in fact quite light, it was entirely the wrong balance of dough and topping. The pizza topping, such as tomato, a kind of mozzarella and fresh basil, offered nothing but extremely ordinary ingredients. The sausage and anchovy on the pizza were the tastiest features. I'd summarise these pizzas as "flabby". The starter salad and hot chocolate served at the end was in every way ordinary, such as i'd get in Starbucks or the like.
There are insufficient pizza places in Hong Kong, but still other places like Ciak Kitchen and Cielos have FAR BETTER pizza. I'd say, don't really bother going there for anything special. The redeeming feature was the pizza set price was affordable for Central, the staff are good and the vibe is pretty nice. I'll not be recommending.
