一打開蓋子,同事們都"嘩嘩聲"!因為十二個Cupcake都是不同款的,雖然不知道蛋糕的口味,大家都興奮地選自己喜愛的小蛋糕!

心大心細之下,我和同事最後交換來吃呢
我選了唯一一個紅色的Cupcake,同事就要了有粉紅花花裝飾的。先吃我那紅色的Cupcake,蛋糕質感十分軟綿,帶著清新的微甜,面頭白色的裝飾也不是太甜,我們兩啖就把它乾掉了!

另外粉紅花花的那個,蛋糕是牛油蛋糕,質感軟之前的硬,牛油味濃!而蛋糕上的裝飾應該是糖霜,我們都吃到"索索聲"呀,而且味道也很甜呢!

雖然蛋糕軟綿綿的十分好吃,但過一會就發現這些Cupcakes也頗甜的,甜得有點苦的味道湧上來哦~

無論如何,謝謝同事這份分甘同味的心意啦!

this is my second visit. first time i went, it was after dinner and we sat in the outside garden to enjoy sift's delectable desserts.on this occasion, my aim was to go for their infamous cupcakes, however because it was quite late, they only had 1 left, carrot flavour =pwe decided to sit down for tea, although the place was empty, the service was slow. we decided to sit down for tea, although the place was empty, the service was slow. We ordered a camomile tea and hot chocolate and also their signature choco cake to share.

boy, were we impressed! the chocolate mousse soft, yet hard, complimented by the crispies. and although the whole cake was solely chocolate, was not too sweet at all!

will definitely come again to try all other desserts, although a bit pricy!

Came to Sift since after eating dinner on Hollywood road with a few friends. Honestly, I've always just done takeout at their store in Wanchai and never actually sat down at their Central restaurant. Environment - It was pouring tonight so everyone had to sit inside (looks like they might have outside seating out back). If you are not sitting at the bar the place is actually pretty cramped. Environment - It was pouring tonight so everyone had to sit inside (looks like they might have outside seating out back). If you are not sitting at the bar the place is actually pretty cramped. When the 4 of us first got there there were no seats available so we waited 3-5 minutes inside (rain outside) but we were constantly getting in the way of the waitstaff since there was no room. Place is pretty clean looking but it's a shame the place is so cramped.

Service - It's not bad. The waitstaff wasn't unfriendly but I felt there were a little on the quiet/reserved side. Food did come out quickly and that's always nice.

Honestly, by the time dinner was done I was stuffed. I'm not even sure why I decided to order a chocolate cake...haha.

Sift Chocolate Cake - If you like chocolate this cake is for you. Really rich and full of flavor. I especially like how the chocolate crisps on top that provide an extra dimension to the texture. Really quite awesome and creamy inside. After about 5-6 bites I was stuffed and my friends were happy to devour the rest


My personal opinion is unless the Sift restaurant is relatively empty I still prefer to takeout since I'm not really a big fan of cramped places. I know dai pai dongs (大牌檔) are just as cramped but the turnover there (customer wise) is so much quicker while costumers at Sift (or coffee/dessert shops in general) want to sit a while and enjoy themselves. Chocolate cake as always was good.

佢係朱古力cream一層, 再crisp脆脆一層, 然後一層朱古力cream, 再一層crisp脆脆...
朱古力好creamy, 又唔會太滯, crisp脆脆係驚喜個part, 因為好多, 所以感覺咁大件蛋糕都唔太漏...
唯一敗筆就係圍邊有層焦糖味既cream, 好厚一層, 而且焦糖都好甜, 食到那個位, 我地都真係放棄左唔少...太漏了...


只可以話, 那位同事係地道香港人, 鐘意多cream又甜d既蛋糕...
不過真係唔係我地個杯茶...

由南丫島落船後找到的甜品店。這間甜品點的位置位於SOHO區附近。不是有人帶或看到介紹都找不到的店舖。有室外及室內。因室外都坐滿了人,環境不錯, 暗暗的燈光及裝飾簡單。我們在室內坐下後就開始看MENU。這裡主食是甜品,MENU的第一頁是十多款的甜品。第二及第三頁是DRINK LIST。我們選擇了SIFT CHOCOLATE CAKE 同 Chocolate Fantasie。SIFT CHOCOLATE係一個中間以朱古加慕士為主, 面再加上脆士, 底部側是cake。chocolate fantasie 是4款不同的朱古力的甜品。2個賣相都好靚, 食落去個朱古力感覺都好強烈。價錢就頗貴, around 70 - 85一個。其實每款都適合2個人一齊去share一個甜品。因為一個人食實左有d"流"我地食完都坐左一陣傾下計先走。無人會趕, 好舒服。

"大食日"食到此店剛好3:05pm, 得一台人,而 我地5人就坐後園了上次因ice-cream machine broke down 而沒有order到sticky toffee pudding今次終於可以一償心願食到朋友朋order了 pavlova, 同strawberry and cream 之類的甜品其實每款dessert都好吃得很個honey crunch比到suprise我加上我真的偏愛toffee flavour又有冷暖交替的口感 (ice-cream and warm pudding)所以覺得toffee pudding 比 pavlova好吃當我地坐下來不久, 其實都已經坐滿了人, 幸好我們沒有遲一點來, 因為我們都不是想等位的人

Most of the customers were Chinese and Indians. So, we ordered 4 different dessert. And we saw the staff preparing them in front of us. It is clean and tidy. Overall, the service is good. the hygiene seems ok. But the most important is you can get a better dessert from a lot of SOHO restaurants.

之前有聞sift cup cake出名,今日試到好多款。有double choco、呍哩o拿、椰子、red velvet、等等。它有別於其他品牌,面朕放上糖霜堆砌得,硬卜卜的裝飾「cream」。Sift的是軟身的,佢話係咩味都好啦,其實分別唔大,全部都係得個”甜”字。Cream下的cup cake好鬆軟新鮮!朱古力味蛋糕,朱古力味唔濃。其他淺黃色蛋糕既,係牛油蛋糕,好好食!咸咸地,無咁漏。最正既係紅色蛋糕,w/白色「cream」那件Red Velvet。預期是紅莓味蛋糕,卻食唔到什麼味,不過面朕是sour cream,比其他甜甜甜,好食好多!我都唔明點解cup cake可以賣咁貴,其實佢咪又係muffin,加pat 超甜cream!!!

===Service:
We ordered the chocolate fantasies first, to see if this place was any good. Before we get to order, we were told the minimum charge on this place was $XX. It didn't matter much as 2 dessert orders would be over the amount anyhow.

It wasn't because of what was said but how he said it, we couldn't help but get the whiff of snobbishness from the waiter, which was strange because we were in Soho and usually the service is quite good. I brushed it off as being too sensitive and just asked what other dessert he would recommend and that also if this place was new. We didn't see any signs or menus outside. He looked away the whole time we were taking the order and rolled his eyes, saying this place has been around for 3 years and recommended the chocolate cake. There was no signs because the owners wanted it not to have one.

We were kind of ticked off by then. It wasn't expensive, but we didn't pay to be treated this way.

The chocolate fantasy
Chocolate napoleon, chocolate crème brulée, warm chocolate tart, chocolate sorbet

This was great, with warm and cold sensations and very rich chocolate in varying textures. Although it sounds cliche, "the wafer part was crunchy, the soft part was silky" and it such basic things that many places seem to miss. This plate was able to maintain the contrasts, keep a toned presentation. Very nicely executed.

The sift chocolate cake
A disappointment. Some desserts deserve the term "Classic" and others deserves "Old." Apparently this was famous a few years back, but I guess in Hong Kong the dessert trend is a bit slow and also by now it has reached the ordinary populace. This just tastes average to me. The presentation is standard, and the hazelnut infusion gives me a "its been done" taste.

Dessert is average. Service is poor.

After reading the other comments on this restaurant, apparently MK people who studies 八掛雜誌 like to come here to see stars(追星癮). So if that's your cup of tea, but all means come by to see others of your type and suffer the consequences by your choice.

So that's a good thing about this place, is that if your date happens to fit into the notorious HKG type, its easy to get her all warmed up here. You know, throwing out those wine terms that you don't understand but knowing she doesn't either. Stuff like that. Go get your thing on! Its all good.

For those of you who don't find the chardonnay jelly or chocolate hazelnut grenache a novelty on your culinary checklist, you know I'm not coming back, ever. Feels like 翠華 at 4am without the comfort of its condense milk buns.

Just in case Openrice editors decides to put this comment off the point system because this is a complaint on bad service (I saw many many complaints on service being taken off the system), let it be known that I feel service is a big part of the dining experience. I know the Michellin people agree with me on this too.

在中環嘉咸街的"Sift",由出道以來到今天,備受眾甜品迷寵愛.港人一向有舖追星癮,每周總會手執著八掛雜誌,熟讀著明星秘聞,看著副刊的三流時裝資訊,見到明星穿什麼就穿什麼.現今延伸至到去選餐廳用膳,也要看星做人.說幾多星幾多星,就算餐廳沒有星,也要看大廚是不是出自米芝蓮星級餐廳.Sift的主理人,曾在米芝蓮餐廳學過法.所以一開業受到重視,不無原因,但是也要有料子才行,兩年多後的今天,已發展到有三間店.可算是一個成功例子.今次再次來到,身邊的不再是挺有個性的E小姐,而是美麗女生J,她未來過,正好來一個Sift之初體驗.環境依舊地"酷",可能正在晚飯時間,餐廳食客稀少,相信除了好幾位甜魔之外,也沒有多少人,會以甜品當飯食.未來過的話,便來個Chocolate Fantasie,兩個人吃一甜品,似乎太過寒酸,於是者便要多一個Chocolate & Strawberry Pavlova.未吃之前,先扮一下"專家",向J解釋Pavlova由來.此甜品是以上世紀初,俄國名芭蕾舞蹈家Anna Pavlova命名.可能她的舞步傾倒眾生,連廚師也要做個甜品向她致敬,有說是源自澳州,亦有說是紐西蘭,兩國

Sift的主理人,曾在米芝蓮餐廳學過法.所以一開業受到重視,不無原因,但是也要有料子才行,兩年多後的今天,已發展到有三間店.可算是一個成功例子.今次再次來到,身邊的不再是挺有個性的E小姐,而是美麗女生J,她未來過,正好來一個Sift之初體驗.

環境依舊地"酷",可能正在晚飯時間,餐廳食客稀少,相信除了好幾位甜魔之外,也沒有多少人,會以甜品當飯食.未來過的話,便來個Chocolate Fantasie,兩個人吃一甜品,似乎太過寒酸,於是者便要多一個Chocolate & Strawberry Pavlova.

未吃之前,先扮一下"專家",向J解釋Pavlova由來.此甜品是以上世紀初,俄國名芭蕾舞蹈家Anna Pavlova命名.可能她的舞步傾倒眾生,連廚師也要做個甜品向她致敬,有說是源自澳州,亦有說是紐西蘭,兩國在這個Pavlova主權問題下爭持不下,幾十年之後,才証實是源自紐西蘭,不過,當兩國一到什麼節日慶典,Pavlova便大派用場了.

今次在Sift,Pavlova不是主角,糖蛋白打出來的忌廉,只佔很少,忌廉香滑柔軟,而士多啤梨正好中和一下甜味.下面的蛋糕脆而軟,好像吃Macaron的感覺,包著的朱古力香濃而甘.另外用shooter杯盛上的Chardonnay 凍,用清爽的Chardonnay雪成凍,作用同士多啤梨一樣,來平衡一下被朱古力衝擊過的口腔.

一個人兩條心不算多,如果四條心,又怎算?Chocolate Fantasie正好體驗出,朱古力四種截然不同的感覺.比著你長期對住同一個人,也要用不同的"招式",才能保持新鮮感,否則淪為例行公事,到時便乏味了.何妨是吃下肚的朱古力?朱古力范特西仍是那四款:Creme Brulee,Sorbet,Chocolate Tart,Napoleon.拿破崙入口香脆,酥皮薄如無物,入口即化.朱古力味比上一次來吃的更濃,用朱古力來做creme brulee,可不可行?答案是肯定的.此Creme Brulee除帶有朱古力的濃香之外,亦不失香滑的蛋香.兩者含蓄並存.朱古力雪葩並不算是雪葩,極其量是冰凍的朱古力漿,味道帶點甘苦,正是朱古力應有的個性,態度.Chocolate tart帶點流心,J更說好比心太軟呢.

情調同之前在扒房比是兩回事,店內正好播著Enigma的經典"Principles of lust",令到大家吃著朱古力也會製造迷夢.坐在我們後面的一對情侶,在我背後不停地閃,是閃光燈的閃,我的背脊有什麼好影?J說他們正不斷玩自拍,一邊吃甜品,一邊熱吻.無可否認,甜品尤其是朱古力,具備催情作用.甜味直上大腦,登時意亂情迷.加上Enigma之迷幻音調催化之下,慾念正在舞動,在慾火焚身之下,隨時按不住....閃閃閃,閃夠未?你走晒火喇,不如回去關埋門,在床上影輯閃咭吧.

當他們離開之時,我對J說:{拿,你估下佢地會去邊?我估佢地會行落去截的士,去你度?去我度?唔好唔好.不如去邊度邊度.}至於去邊度?無須畫公仔畫到出腸,難道會去"百佳"超級市場麼?

What I do believe in is that sweets can put a smile on one's face and I am in need of one. Instead of going for Happy Hour drinks, my friend and I decided to head for some sweets at Sift.
We arrived around 6:30pm and we were the only customers, perfect!! Throughout our stay, we had the rare opportunity to be surrounded by the savoring scents of various desserts and sauces because the staff were busy preparing different items for the after dinner crowds.
(1) Sift Chocolate Cake
Very well done indeed. The mousse-like outer layer with the chocolate fudge cake inside were rich in flavor but not too strong at all. Together with the praline crunch / flakes, the cake combined 3 different textures in every bite. Soft layer, harder fudge cake base and the crunchy flakes, very good indeed. Two thumbs up! The long lost smile was on my face for a short period of time, a moment to treasure indeed.
(2) House Coffee
Coffee from a French press is supposed to be stronger already based on the way it is prepared and served; however the coffee served was very light and weak. It was actually at a bit watery in my opinion. Very disappointing coffee. The only nice touch from this order was the milk which was served warmed. I like my coffee black with some brown sugar but I still think the warmed milk was worth a note.
(3) Sticky Toffee Pudding
The presentation was very nice. Honestly, the so-called pudding was not how I imagined it, it looked more like a sliced loaf of cake. I guess there isn't a defined way of how a pudding should be made as long as it is rich in flavor and high in starch! With that definition in mind the rich toffee sauce together with the warmed pudding tasted very good to my surprise. With a bit of banana ice cream, the texture, flavor and contrast in temperature actually complimented each other very well. Another two thumbs up plus a little smile on my face.

We sat at the bar this time, where we could see the food being prepared (recommended as it's a fascinating process), but last time we sat outside, which is nice when the weather is cooler. I went back this week with some friends. We sat at the bar this time, where we could see the food being prepared (recommended as it's a fascinating process), but last time we sat outside, which is nice when the weather is cooler. It reminds me of New York.

The only question I would have is why the menu seemed almost exactly the same one year later. It would be good to keep the signature desserts (chocolate cake), but it would be nice to have some other choices beside chocolate and strawberries -- perhaps green tea, chestnuts, lavender, apricot, dates, almonds, pistachios...some more adventurous choices would be appreciated. Chocolate and berries are nice, but to be truly innovative, Sift has not yet shown that much creativity. Good presentation does not equal creativity.
