細既都只係14蚊仲要十條有多wor~!!!

Medium Roast Pork Belly。稍嫌難切開同五花腩位有少少黐牙 ,不過燒烤汁幾好。

Small既青檸忌廉波蘿椰子布丁。椰子布丁得六粒唔多夠喉,而青檸忌廉食落似少少Cheese Feeling.

一個人食左二百幾,但係,真係想去多次掃餐牌.....
服務態度又少有地ok wor......

一行九人在 SML 訂了枱吃生日飯。我們其中三人早了十分鐘到,打算先去拿位。去到那裡,雖有人招呼,但那個接待員好像甚麼都不清楚,竟然就指我們到一個沒有九人位置的枱!!我們開始很懷疑那個接待員是否不清楚我們有多少人。原來後來我們才發覺,她以為正在進餐的是我們朋友!!這個真的很差,她們連我們有沒有人到也不清楚,亦不知道正在進餐的人要到八點正交枱給我們。最搞笑是,她叫我們等五分鐘,於是我們便順道去了解手,解手出來,打算繼續等的時候,那個接待員跟我們說 BYE BYE 不是嘛,我們只是數分鐘前跟她拿位喔!然後我們就靜靜的等,終於等到那二人結帳,枱面清潔好了!但那些接待員竟然沒有一個人告訴我們可以進去了!我們一直在等等等,結果又再過了五分鐘,我們終於上前去問,她好像真的沒有見過我們似的,就跟我們說我們的枱在那裡!真的很無奈喔!好了,到人齊,我們九個人 選了六樣東西,因為不知道份量有多少,所以只點了六樣。有兩個主菜,其他的都是 APPETIZER 或 ALL DAY 的東西。全部都叫了 LARGE 的份量!結果,來到.....我們覺得份量頂多跟在其他餐廳的普通份量差不多嘛!但價錢就差很遠呢!最後

有兩個主菜,其他的都是 APPETIZER 或 ALL DAY 的東西。
全部都叫了 LARGE 的份量!結果,來到.....我們覺得份量頂多跟在其他餐廳的普通份量差不多嘛!但價錢就差很遠呢!最後六樣菜,每人每樣只分配到一個 TABLESPOON!

吃完,好像沒有吃似的!連 Risotto 這個主菜,這樣簡單的主菜,我朋友都說我做的比它們做的好吃!!真的有點過份!

我相信,如果下次真的要再來吃飯,必先要吃一點東西打底,因為份量實在太少了!價錢,質數跟份量不成正比!
唯一好的是,它們的 concept,除此之外,真的沒有甚麼好的地方。

今日同朋友係8點到,去左新開既SML到試下。由於冇訂位既關係,所以坐左係BAR枱到。BAR枱個到真係好暗,睇唔到本menu寫乜,用侍應俾既蠟燭都冇用;坐對面枱既人要搵手提同電筒泥照,而我地就彎腰放係燈槽到睇。我地一行二人叫左8碟「S」。前菜:三文魚他他,撈晒D料都係冇味;吞拿魚同生牛肉OK。主菜:塊豬扒同塊煎魚OK,D汁幾好;Lasagna同牛尾意大利飯好普通;而個白酒蜆肉意大利粉太咸,同埋有D蜆唔係幾熟。總括泥講,SML食物同服務質素普通,而個環境頗靜同舒適,適合同幾個朋友去食下飲下野傾下計。

The olives oil makes the urchin linguine very nice. The Lasagna has a very rich cheese favour, which is not common in HK.The cream in tiramisu is too much, I am expecting more cake inside, but taste The Panne Cotta is sweet, but taste real good with the orange peel.

As mentioned before, the concept of this store is quite unique - with your own choice of Small, Medium or Large servings and also enjoying Eating on Communal Tables when seating near the front area, the restaurant & bar serves Western Styled Food originating from a few nations all rolled into one (although still executed with a Hong Kong accent in the taste too much!). As mentioned before, the concept of this store is quite unique - with your own choice of Small, Medium or Large servings and also enjoying Eating on Communal Tables when seating near the front area, the restaurant & bar serves Western Styled Food originating from a few nations all rolled into one (although still executed with a Hong Kong accent in the taste too much!). I really like communcal dining in a way - although Hong Kong's street stalls and Cha Chan Tengs are also well known for communal eating, they're entirely different as the local style is purely down to convenience from the owners' business point of view, where you have no choice but to sit on rock hard stools, hopefully gone out of there under 10 minutes. Here at SML, its more like a relaxed cozy type of communal dining where old and new friends can share and have fun, may be a similar informal style dining can be found at LAFUMA'S or certain Japanese Izakayas Counters?
**********BELOW AVERAGE**********
PRAWN & TRUFFLE TOAST (M) - This bread had absorbed too much oil and had absolutely no black truffle taste, nor much prawn taste. Its worst than the version at Absolute Burgers in Delaynomall.
CAESER SALAD (S) - The romaine cos lettuce were fresh, but the sauce was not authentic Caesar nor is it aligned with the newer style Caesar. The dressing in particular lacked worchestire sauce influence, or anchovy influence, it was also not cheesy enough. There was also a lack of other supplements like Bacon or whole Anchovies, barely slivers of Parmesan and Bread Croutons. Eitherway - this was very HongKong style.
MINESTRONE SOUP (S) - This had a lot of tomato paste influence but somehow was way too sweet as well, it had onion, tomato, carrots influence but it was missing the much desired greener vegetables influence, such as cabbage and especially celery, or red beans, and its dried herbs weren't apparent either. It was very Hong Kong style in execution and much like 花園餐廳- a recurrent scheme we found tonite.
GNOCCHI WITH FOUR CHEESE (S) - This tasted and looked very non-Italian, not Western style - it was very Hong Kong style like. For 1 thing, the cheese sauce was thickened with flour at the last minute and looked slightly transparent, plus the Gnocchi's were overcooked, also weren't gnocchi like in taste with a lack of chewy bite, as well as being cut up by a knife rather than hand rolled. The cheese sauce definitely had a slight stinky Blue cheese influence and possibly Taleggio in it, as it carried a barnyardy taste as well as blue cheese taste. At least they got good cheese to put in - but this was not executed well at all. Very disappointing.

***********AVERAGE*********
CROSTINI TOAST WITH OLIVES, TOMATO, HERBS (M) - This is an ok starter. Could do with a bit more olive or olive oil taste and garlic.
FRIED POLENTA STICKS WITH TOMATO DRESSING (M) - This was cheap at only $21. The fried polenta were actually coated with bread crumbs, which is not what I'm used to eating - they were fried very dark and had an oily coating, although to the credit of the restaurant they offered to exchange it, but we thought it doesn't matter anyway. The tomato sauce on this was different from another green beans dish - this was more like canned tomatoes but the tomato based sauce was too sweet and wasn't the better Italian canned tomatoes in my opinion. Overall it was very Hong Kong style in execution.
SEA URCHIN PASTA (M) - Using Japanese urchin, this did not had a very fishy smell which affects nearly all Italian Urchin based Pasta dishes - the latter having a very strong sea flavour and a lot redder than the Japanese version, even though both Urchins eat better during summer unlike other urchins varieties. This was quite creamy and very Japanese like, but at the end of the day, I thought the pasta didn't absorb much Urchin taste.

**********RECOMMENDED************
GREEN BEANS WITH TOMATO SAUCE (S) - Nothing to fault here. The tomatoes used were fresh and the dish was refreshing.
CRISPY PORK BELLY WITH RED CABBAGE & APPLE COLESLAW (M) - This was like what I had last time. Pork Skin WAS NOT crackley at all. The sauce was slightly less sweeter than last time. Overall, an average dish but the pork taste is quite strong, which is good.
RISOTTO WITH BRAISED OXTAIL (M) - This risotto comes by default with soft, well cooked riced. However we informed the staff that we would like it cooked Al Dente. And Al Dente it did when it arrived. It was quite rich with the oxtail and gravy coating the big grained risotto rice - which was definitely a good quality rice grain with a bitey texture. HOWEVER, the execution of this dish was still very Hongkie like, especially the final consistency of the Risotto being a bit non-starchy enough plus the oxtail flavour being quite local. Nevertheless, acceptable.
DRANK:
Lost in Translation - Consisting of Canned Lychee, Sake and Martini Bianco from memory. A nice soothing cocktail that's easy to make but great for summer!


OVERALL - WE THOUGHT WE WILL DEFINIELY COME BACK, MORE FOR THE ATMOSPHERE PLUS DRINKS RATHER THAN THE FOOD; AS I MENTIONED LAST TIME, WE WISHED THE FOOD WAS BETTER EXECUTED AND SINCERELY WISHED THAT THE FOOD ISN'T SO HONG KONG STYLE IN EXECUTION AND TASTE. ITS VERY APPARENT.

THIS TIME FOOD: 'mid' 2 - high '4' range

The place was completely packed with hundreds of people dining in groups on shared communal tables, even on a weeknight - I'm even surprised its only had 4 reviews so far, and I think I was one of the very few dining alone

Chicken Confit with Foie Gras Topped with Poppyseeds, with Truffled Salad and Baguette Bread :
This came in a small jar and reminds me of a Duck or Goose terrine that comes in a jar sold at Delicatessens or Gourmet shops. The chicken was shredded but the taste of foie gras was very weak, the poppyseeds on top seemed like they were not toasted enough? Speaking of which, my Baguette slices weren't toasted enough too. The Truffled Salad had a slightly 噏味 flavoured vinegar dressing which was off-putting, topped with small slices of weak truffle shavings carrying little aroma & taste. Purely gimmicky, the 'truffled' part.

I actually quite 'liked' this dish as a concept but it could be much better executed and it'll be a winner!


Crispy Pork Belly with Cabbage and Apple Coleslaw :
This pork was already pre-roasted and then re-heated in oil on a pan, similar to the concept at Tapeo. The pork crackling wasn't crackily though but the meat itself was acceptable in terms of tenderness and had a strong attractive meat taste. Good! The Coleslaw of Red Cabbage and Apple juliennes was naturally complimentary to the pork slice, this being a single Small serving.
The glazed sauce was actually quite sweet, probably a combination of reduced stock and some kind of sweet dessert wine. I liked the sauce and the dish. The pork isn't as well executed as Tapeo's still - when a revisit later showed me a much more improved version than before! Yet, here, its good already except for the lack of good Crackling skin.

Pineapple with Coconut Jelly and Lemon Cream :
I wanted to order another savoury but I liked the concept of this as its a nice summery dessert, served in yet another Jar. Note that this is the Medium serving size.
The Lemon Chantilly was really good, it had the right balance of lemony essence and runny creamy texture - this was the highlight. The coconut jelly lacks coconut taste, even compared to the Yum Cha sweet, I had trouble picking this up. The Pineapples fortunately were fresh ones and finely diced into squares. For $38, its a satisfying dessert.

DRANK: African Mulderbosch 'Chenin Blanc' - this seems to be a featured wine in most of the Press Room/Pawn/Classified Cheese chain outlets, surprisingly, as its not a popular and recognisable cepage at all in Hong Kong and good examples are difficult to find, especially French ones. This particular version is about forward fruit with hints of apple and lime in profile, its very simple and instantly likeable as a quaff. However its completely unrepresentational of the varietal and very different to the rather lean & minerally versions from Central France that is usually so 'hard', they put Alsace/German Rieslings or French Chablis into shame.
Note that they carry an Enomatic 'Auto Wine Dispensing' machine here, one of only 4 places in Hong Kong. You can buy a Charge Card or have the staff fill up glasses for you - S, M or L!
They also carry some really great Cocktails available.



OVERALL - Somewhere in the '4' Range and the Food much better than Classified Mozzarella, but could still be Better executed. I just really enjoy the atmosphere and the concept of Communal and Tapas styled eating here. Its not a dining concept that Hong Kong already has until now but perhaps those returning from overseas have been familiar with this format for many years... Already planning a return in a few days.. Hopefully taking better photos next time

It was my first dinner there and my first impression is that the design is contemporary and comfortable. There is a good vibe about the place. Being a cigar smoker, I was glad to see the large outdoor patio. When the weather turns cooler, it will be an excellent venue to hold a party.The food is basic Italian but I especially liked the pâté, meat ball, lasagna and the pasta which is al dente. Too many HK restaurants serving Italian cuisine have lost their way. I am glad that SML is doing it

The food is basic Italian but I especially liked the pâté, meat ball, lasagna and the pasta which is al dente. Too many HK restaurants serving Italian cuisine have lost their way. I am glad that SML is doing it right with these delicious, hearty dishes! It is important to remember that Italian food are meant to be shared. It is a lot more fun to get a taste of everything!

Being the wine monster, I would like to see more Italian wines (from obscure island wine to super Tuscan) on the wine list. I hope the owners will hear my call!

If you have a large group, this is the place to go. This is a place where friends can gather to enjoy good food, good wine and have a lot of fun eating and laughing. Couples looking for a romantic dinner should go elsewhere!

First they gave us Press Room for casual French, Classified for cheese lovers, then The Pawn for English pub food and now, hearty Italian in the heart of CWB. I will definitely go back! Delizioso!

Starter and Main
Crostini - with anchovies mayonnaise. This is the only medium dish we had and the best. The bread slice was fresh and warm topped with the salted mayonnaise, nice.

Beef Carpriccio - we are prepared that the beef tartar will not be the best, so the expected taste is that the Parmesan cheese and rocket overwhelmed the beef.

Salmon Tartar - so-so again, as we have poured the whole shot of lime into the fish. Yet, it is nice to add the quail egg, in addition with spice ... refreshing as starter

Lasagna - reasonable portion as it is a bowl in small size. If you are cheese lover, definitely a pick as it is extremely cheesy, like you are having pizza slice. But must be finished when it is still hot.

Pork Belly - very fat and rich in texture, taste good. Not bad. BUT a bit salty.

Veal Escalope - the most expensive dish. The veal is of heavy barbecued taste, and a little over-cooked to me. But the favor is not bad with the sauce.

Dessert, dessert!
Caramel Profiteroles - Best pick for caramel lover, yummy with the profiteroles. Even there is heavy cream in between, it is the best mood remedy

Pot of Chocolate - another dessert remedy, as it is with chocolate caramel, fudge and mousse. I am not a big fan of mousse, yet with a little fudge inside, the little pot is just delicious! And I am clever enough not to eat the choco caramel ...

In the end, I had a cup of Mocha. Knowing that it is under PR, the Classified, I have to see their coffee standard, lucky that it does not disappoint me. The chocolate and coffee taste is well-balanced. And my dear had the small white Riesling ... the small size one is the tasting portion ... yet, tasteless.

Anywaz, I like the dishes most. Maybe I have all of them in small portion. The dishes have the wordings like 'Small Bite', 'Still Hungry', 'Sumptuous' ... I just adore the little dishes, can I buy some?

And the service is nice, most of them are male staff, wearing casual uniforms ... overall is not bad. Maybe I am too biased with the SML options.

Back to the photos, I made close shot so that it looks large, but the small size dishes are more like tapas, bear in mind!

今日LUNCH去食佢無SET LUNCH的叫了蝦多士, 三文魚他他, 牛肉寬面, Risotto食物質數, 完全無驚喜, 好SO SO主菜好似自己買的急凍食品叮來食的味道點品? 食完頭盤同主菜己經無心機好食了總括來講, 質素應該可以做好D而佢的SIZE分大, 中, 小, 任君選擇, M SIZE就是平常的大小, 而S 就是tasting menu 的大小而坐的方面, 因是walk in , 坐了入門口的長抬我朋友話似Broading school的飯堂但我覺得好似街市的豬肉枱一樣唯一的好地方, 就是服務態度唔錯

而坐的方面, 因是walk in , 坐了入門口的長抬
我朋友話似Broading school的飯堂
但我覺得好似街市的豬肉枱一樣

唯一的好地方, 就是服務態度唔錯

Crazy Planet 的機械人~!?NO ... 是 11/F, SML 的 招牌 (重要部位打了格仔)裝修 ....... 不過不失 Coke 內的檸檬是齒輪形Seared Tuna / sesame / soy / sake --- 好好味, 想追加壹碟, sold out~!Foie gras / confit chicken / truffle salad / toast --- 肥死Meatballs / spicy tomato sauce --- 正Risotto / braised ox-tail / parmesan --- 非常美味Veal escalope / sage-caper butter --- 聞好香, 但味道壹般Sauteed green beans / tomatoes / garlic --- 全晚最不好吃Crispy pork belly / red cabbage-apple coleslaw --- 好味、好肥隻碟問: Still hungry? 等等 ... 甜品來緊Happy Ending --- 哂你冷~!
