Last Wednesday a large group of 42 people were taken out to the Italian restaurant called Resto and I was lucky enough to be included in the group.Resto claims to be an Italian/Indian restaurant but when I visited I was not made aware of the Indian part. Resto claims to be an Italian/Indian restaurant but when I visited I was not made aware of the Indian part. We had all just been to crossroads (a charity based in Hong Kong) across the road; we had been experiencing a poverty simulation (one that I would highly recommend). We were all being treated out by the school, we could choose from a small variety of foods, 2 different starters, 4 different mains and 2 different deserts (tea/ coffee or tiramisu). I chose to have salad, Linguini Boscaiola and Tiramisu.
Inside the restaurant were a small number of tables (approximately 4), there were bottles of wine stored along the walls, a set of French windows looking out onto the street and a very high ceiling. We had to squeeze in to get to our chairs I found it cosy and exciting. Then my friends starters came, a yellow soup which we were told was potato and bacon, but everyone said that they could taste cheese as well. Then the rest of us received our house salads, this consisted of lettuce and a few tomatoes laden with dressing, the dressing covered every ounce of vegetable lying in my bowl, I regretted ordering the salad and not the soup.
As we waited for them to clear our dishes and bring our mains we all started drawing on the table cloth which was a big sheet of paper, I always enjoy having a piece of paper (to draw on) to help pass the time. Then I received my main, Linguine Boscaiola. This yet again was laden with a creamy .The pasta included lovely ham and fried button mushrooms, yet was laden with sauce. The sauce being a very creamy white wine sauce which I very much enjoyed.
Finally I had my tiramisu, it looked lovely, there was strawberry sauce squirted over the top with 2 leaves of mint sitting on the top. It was perfect to eat, spongy yet creamy, sweet yet a bit bitter. And all this marvelous food and experience for only $72.
