Apologies for not being able to post pictures - the food was too good and I forgot to take any! But other users have posted some good ones.
I NEVER write reviews, but I honestly thought Su's food and service was highly recommended and thought they deserved a boost in their reviews. My friend Andy who had gone a couple times took us because we were craving Korean food (and Korean fried chicken!)
Su is just good standard Korean homecooked fare. Don't expect anything fancy. Their food was consistent and portions were quite large. It's not a typical korean BBQ place (no BBQ on the tables, but they cook it for you in the kitchen and serve it on a hot plate -- bonus, you don't smell after!)
We ordered: the half and half fried chicken, which came with the original fried chicken with a dipping sauce and a sweet and sour type of sauced chicken. I had told my friend that I was getting a bit tired of HOF chicken and soju (Lee's chicken) in TST, and wanted to try something new. I was not disappointed - their chicken has less bones but still super juicy with a nice fried crispy skin.
Japchae reminded me of the homecooking that my friend's mom used to do. Big portion! Our party of 5 almost couldn't finish it.
Spicy tofu soup was very hearty, served with a bowl of rice. Not too spicy. Perfect start to our dinner.
Kimchi pancake was good -- it was thin, a little crispy in the first bite and then a chewy finish which is what I prefer. A lot of Korean restaurants make their pancake quite doughy, but Su's pancake was the perfect texture for me.
The couple who run the place also recommended a cold noodle with our kalbi that we ordered, which worked PERFECTLY. They mentioned they were thinking about putting it together on the menu which I agree -- the savory and hot kalbi complimented the cool noodles perfectly.
Best part aside from the food? They have a very cute and shy border collie walking around! Their dog is really friendly, but won't disturb you during dinner. But it was a nice entertainment to have around -- maybe call first to the restaurant to see if their dog will be visiting if you are allergic.
Their seating is set up so it is big-party friendly. Book ahead as we went on a Sunday night and they were already full. Service was very attentive -- the owners were extremely friendly, something you don't see very often in HK. The rest of the staff were quite attentive too, though I wish just as outgoing as the couple that run the place!
