Stepping into the restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised by the numerous oil paintings hung on the wall as part of the restaurant decoration. I didn’t expect the restaurant to be elaborately decorated since my friend have told me before the dinner that this newly opened eatery offers “affordable priced” Vietnamese food, something rarely found in the Central district. We got seated comfortably. The seats were reasonably spacious. I was surprised that the rest wasn’t too crowded despite it being Sunday night.
We ordered 4 sets-for-one-person. A set for one person contains a main dish and a drink. You can have a top-up snack if you pay an extra of 18 dollars.
The snack, the butter chicken wings, tasted very crispy and buttery. One flaw of many deep fried chickens wings I have had before is that they could feel to dry and make your throat feel the same way after consumption. The chicken wings here, delightfully, still retain some moisture in them.
The specialty noodle is good as the soup isn’t too salty. I don’t feel particularly thirsty after eating. The beef smells nice and feels not too hard.
The tom yam goong flavour seafood fried rice isn’t too spicy. It’s just right for people like me, who aren’t big on spicy food. I think even people who can’t bear with spice will find the fried rice more than acceptable.
The paper rolls could have tasted better. The flavour wasn’t really strong enough. It didn’t really smell special either.
The ambience is really peaceful and quiet though. The interior is well lit and comfortable. Perhaps this is due to the fact that we came here on a Sunday, a day off for most office workers. This place is probably much more crowded on weekdays. Anyway it made an excellent rendezvous for friends as none of the staff urged us to leave even after we had finished our meals. We had a good time as this restaurant.
