Went with my family over a month ago (sorry for the late comment, their food suddenly came across my mind and pursuing me to give them a star) and dinner came out to be extremely satisfying.The restaurant offer wide range of small plates at reasonable price which really suitable for couples who love to explore their taste buds without hesitation. The restaurant offer wide range of small plates at reasonable price which really suitable for couples who love to explore their taste buds without hesitation. And every dishes are perfectly executed (presentation, temperature and taste) with passion.

Recommended small plates:
Cod in mashed potato spread: creamy texture with outstanding flavor of cod A+

Pan fried frog leg: crispy on the skin, meat remain super juicy and tender (a lot of french cuisine overcook frog leg or leave a bitter after taste, but not in this one) A+

Foie gras terrine: again silky smooth texture with just right amount of flavor. Feel like heaven. A+

Main dish: Roast chicken in vegetable broth (for 4), ingredients taste fresh and meat was very tender. The manager claimed the veggies and chicken were all imported from France.

Dessert was Napolean and lemon tart:
Not remarkable but overall delicious !

Service was superb and professional. Servers are all hk locals, presentable, well trained with good knowledge of their menu, also appreciate their interaction with customers for feedback, not overly attentive but feel warm. Unlike some pretentious fine dine hiring southeast asian server who can't even speak english properly. Another bonus for not forcing (or pressuring) customers to order distilled/sparking water.

Overall, I highly recommend this cuisine and hope the owner would keep up with the quality, and i would definitely come back again !! A+++

題外話/補充資料: The shop manager offer a free dessert after dinner for a minor mistake in table booking. Sweet !!!!

Opened in early 2011, Bistronomique is a small but fine establishment, with tall ceilings and cream tones completing a cosy, classy set-up.

(1) What happens at most dinners is that we arrive at the restaurant starving, and then we stuff ourselves with bread in the bread basket as soon as it is laid in front of us. However, that ritual didn’t take place at our dinner at Bistronomique as the baguette was stone-cold and on the dry side.

(2) Fortunately, our impression of the restaurant improved as soon as the Lentil salad with pigsear and bacon ($78) was served. Pigsear sounds creepy, but it really was very chewy and tasty, and the seasoning for this dish was marvellous. The pigsear matched very well with the lentils and bacon, forming a nice symphony of textures.

(3) The Classic steak tartare ($98) was another pleasing dish. The beef was fresh and sensuous, while a tangy, slightly spicy sauce gave it just that extra edge. We wished, though, that we had something slightly more wholesome on the side other than potato chips (from a packet)!

(4) The Herb-crusted bone marrow ($98) was an unmissable dish at Bistronomique. It is easy for restaurants to mishandle bone marrow, unintentionally turning it into a tasteless blob of fat, but the dish that we had was an umami-rich wonder. Underneath a thin layer of aromatic herb-crust was a soft, liquid dollop of bone marrow; the fresh and grassy taste of the herbs perfectly accentuated the bone marrow’s deliciousness.

(5) The Beef cheek “Bourguignon” ($228) was simple and satisfying, with soft and supple beef cheek cooked in a mellow, delightful dressing; however, we wished the flavours of this dish were just a tad stronger.

(6) I heard lobsters calling me that day, and I had no regrets ordering the Lobster penne, tomato confit & basil ($298), which tasted magnificent. The irresistible smell of lobsters wafted through the air as the dish was brought to our table, and the startlingly fresh taste of lobster and the gorgeously springy, al dente pasta made for a heavenly dish. Only a bit of shaved parmasan was added, which meant that it was light and not overly filling, and a touch of basil completed the dish.

(7) That awkward moment, when I have to admit to devouring cute little bunnies. Yes, we did order the Braised rabbit “a la moutarde” ($228), and yes it did taste just like chicken. The meat was soft, light and lean, and the dressing was very agreeable, but some parts of the meat were a bit too dry.

(8) The Australian Rack of lamb ($248) was minimalistically dressed, yet was one of the best dishes of the night. The lamb was tender and juicy, and was cooked to perfection for just the right amount of time.

(9) We ordered some Sauteed spinach ($45) on the side – while it tasted good, we failed to see how it had been sautéed, as it was not browned and tasted like Chinese stir-fried veggies.

(10) As full as we were, we ended our meal with the obligatory dessert – the Earl Grey Crème Brûlée, financiers ($55), which was recommended to us by our friends who had been here before. The crème brûlée was creamy and fluffy, but the Earl Grey flavour was uneven (there was no taste of Earl Grey at the top, while the taste was too strong at the bottom) and it also tasted a bit faux – it seemed as though an essence was used in the dessert instead of real Earl Grey tea. Nonetheless, the financiers on the side were sticky, spongy and really good to eat and this was overall a great dessert.

Prices were very reasonable at this eatery and David Lai‘s insistence on the use of fresh, local produce was evident; however, cooking techniques would have to be refined in order to make Bistronomique a haunt that could rival the celebrated On Lot 10!

Great service:
First, we overstayed the business hours but were not ushered away. No pressure from the staff at all. I think we overstayed around 45 minutes. Lunch was supposed to end at 2:30pm.
Second I dropped my napkin rather discreetly but somehow they noticed and quickly handed me a replacement.
Third the staff were very attentive, and it was reflected in the food. I'll get to that part later.

Ordinary baguettes. Butter was also hard.
And 2 people shared one slab of butter with only one butter knife between us. Slightly too dry on the inside and 'rubbery' outside. I expected much more. But any shortcoming is fully redeemed by the nice starter and entree to follow!

A twist on the classic caesar salad presentation. Identical to the one at On Lot 10, Gough Street. Lots of dressing which thankfully wasn't very thick, a bit peppery, thick slides of pancetta, very crisp croutons, anchovies. Homemade dressing I believe. The large cracked peppercorns added a very nice kick. Topped with very thinly sliced/grated parmesan cheese and one coddled egg, which I gave B, because I don't like runny yolks. Oh and of course, half a head of romaine!!
Overall a pleasant experience because you get to control how much and the size of the lettuce you want per bite. Quite easy to eat with a knife actually.

B ordered this and I only tried a small forkful of the beef + lentil 'pate'. Didn't like it because the lentils made the whole thing really grainy and coarse. The beef was lumpy (of course - how could you puree beef like you would a salmon mousse?) and didn't complement the thin toasts well. Too much beef, too little toast. I was happy with my caesar.

So. I've written a very positive review for On Lot 10's mushroom risotto. I will have to write a similar review for this risotto
LOTS of wild mushrooms which were very juicy. I could identify something like wood ear. One of the best things is that the dish was HOT, the plate was HOT. Thick, slightly sweet. Not too cheesy. The risotto was prepared the way I liked - I prefer risotto fully cooked. I don't want the center to be even slightly raw, no. Very fragrant mushrooms. Soft. Not as fragrant as shiitake though. Shaved nutmeg. Could also taste a bit of white wine.
Very satisfying.

Confit tasted a bit weird, like smoked/roasted suckling pig. Heh. Meat tender but not very juicy. But that's what you'd expect of a confit duck leg. The portion, however, was ginormous - any man would be satisfied. Couscous had with a bit of juice is yummy. The carrots be soft.

We took our time ordering desserts. Mulled long and hard over the 9+ choices (?) you gotta ask them for the cake they have that day.

Evidence of attention to detail: the waiter asked whether we were sharing the desserts. yes. So the creme brulee was served with two madeleines. I believe if it were a one-person portion there would've only been one?
I'd like to think so at least! Super strong earl grey flavour pouncing out at us. Very crisp shell, as you can see. A fine crack. The creme brulee itself wasn't very yellow though. Does it have anything to do with the earl grey? (it WAS, in fact, slightly grey!!). Did not see any real vanilla beans either, fail. Prolly vanilla essence.

Shouldn't have ordered this, wouldn't order it again. Weird presentation, and had hints of pear. Flan base very crisp. Syrup very sweet. Not a must-have at all. Oh we asked whether we could substitute the whipped cream with ice cream. The answer was affirmative. So nice.


Conclusion:
I'm coming back. See you soon.

今個星期的食運似乎不錯,假日兩天預先訂好的兩家法國菜水準都很高,特別是這一家,食物方面我會給予五分!好像已經有一陣子沒有吃到一間食物五分的餐廳了,吃完之後幾乎要拍手掌,有一種衝動想連當天都晚餐都在這裡吃。 大概半年前在同一條街上嚐過超好吃的薄餅和意粉,這一次再次來到同一條街,同樣充滿期望。穿過墨綠色的門面,進入一個以白色裝潢為主,格調清雅的法式小館,餐廳樓底非常之高,射燈射在天花板上,燈光柔和舒適,兩邊的牆上有一部份挖空,排列著一個個空的酒瓶,設計簡單卻見心思。午市套餐promotional price $98,頭盤三選一,主菜五選一,再附送餐飲,加$28可以再加餐湯或甜品。我們兩個人,頭盤兩款沙律各選一,再配一個餐湯,再選自己喜歡的主菜。在點菜之前我聽到鄰桌有一個男人跟他同桌的人說這裡的拿破侖很好吃,上次來的時候賣光了,所以他隨即跟店員留了四件。我問店員關於那個拿破侖的事,他說那並不是當日的甜品,要另外再點的,本來我也點了一件,可惜他後來回覆說已經被鄰桌全訂了。餐飽是普通的法包,烘得暖暖的,配上鹽味牛油,沒什麼特別。是日餐湯是南瓜忌廉湯。上檯的時候我心裡不禁嘩了一聲,南瓜湯湯面有一層

是日餐湯是南瓜忌廉湯。上檯的時候我心裡不禁嘩了一聲,南瓜湯湯面有一層透明細泡泡,顏色奶黃有點像粟米湯,看起來很漂亮。南瓜蓉打得很幼滑,完全沒有絲毫渣滓,南瓜天然的甜配搭著香甜的忌廉,很好很好喝。

香草三文魚配蘋果沙律。伴碟的蘋果沙律稍微用醋調過味,其實一開始我還誤以為是青瓜片呢。煙三文魚雖然不夠肥美,但不會過鹹,我把酸忌廉先塗在三文魚上,然後加入少量菜絲和蘋果片,再用三文魚把配料都包起來。一次過放進口裡,三文魚的軟滑鹹香和酸甜的青蘋果片兩者配合在一起,產生了微炒的化學作用,好吃。

凱撒沙律。沒有切細的羅馬生菜我還是第一次見,廚師把生菜一棵棵整齊的排列好,除了基本的麵包糠和煙肉之外,還加有半隻烚蛋和一條醋銀魚,而最令人興奮的是大量芝士碎。羅馬生菜新鮮爽脆,凱撒沙律汁味道剛剛好,麵包糠又夠脆口,醋銀魚的加入令沙律的味道更豐富。

是日精選新鮮魚是香煎[魚立]魚,我只吃過刺身和蒸的[魚立]魚,以西式的煮法去煎的還是第一次。本來我也不期望這魚的肉質會是嫰滑,結果比想象之中好,雖然不能稱得上是滑,但肯定不是嚡。魚味略淡,不過醬汁運用得宜,用小蕃茄與醋等等調成的醬汁,帶微微酸,味道不俗。墊在底部的薯蓉是亮點,入口非常幼滑,像吃慕絲,又充滿薯味。

美國豬扒配焦糖蘋果。吃西餐我還是第一次見到塊扒已預先切好,我看到其他客人的扒類也是切好的,喜不喜歡因人而異,如果不喜歡的或者可以先跟店員說聲,而我們就覺得沒什麼所謂,反正好吃就行了。豬扒肉質非常鬆化,鬆弛說某幾件口感有點像牛肉,我拍了一張豬扒橫切面的照片,可以看到豬扒肥瘦相間,肉可以拉成風琴狀,而跟邊位帶肥膏的更加美味。旁邊的配菜雖然簡單,但是有用心去準備的,紅蘿蔔甜而且烚得很軟腍;薯仔味道很複雜,一開始我以為是甜蕃薯,但細心的品嚐後,就會發現薯仔的外層原來用了焦糖去煎香,形成一層COATING,所以吃的時候就會覺得甜甜的。

是日的甜品是朱古力布朗尼,我和鬆弛都沒有太大興趣,所以決定在甜品餐牌裡再選。甜品款式大概有十款,每款$48,最後我選了自家製sorbets和Truffle Crème Brulee。

一客自家製sorbets可以選兩種口味,當天好像有四款選擇,而我就選了白桃和士多啤梨。Sorbets入口幼滑綿軟,白桃口味很清新,士多啤梨就甜了點。

Truffle Crème Brulee。面層的糖片燒成微焦,不會太厚,很容易就能戥開。裡面的蛋很滑很creamy,有雲呢拿籽和黑松露碎,真的不得不說蛋和黑松露的真很夾,變成甜品同樣是絕配。

檸檬茶的茶底太濃,有點苦澀,還是喝檸水比較好。

這餐實在很滿意,兩人埋單只不過是三百五十多,如果不像我們額外點甜品的話,加一只是一百多元,單單是頭盤和主菜的質素已經物超所值,本來想自己多想幾次才寫,可是又想介紹給食友們,心情實在很矛盾,希望往後不會太難訂位吧,下一次會再來吃晚餐的!

清雅的裝修令人感覺舒適。侍應的態度親切。食物方面,味道可以接受。前菜沙律我選擇了雞肝,味道有點腥,不太適合我。有驚喜的是個黑松露焦糖布丁,黑松露夠香,布丁亦滑!

We had:-- A lovely aromatic hunk of flavorful foie fras (the preserved kind, not the fresh).-- A "brandade de morue" (salt cod with mashed potatoes) that had just the right combination of fish, potato and olive oil to make it scrumptious-- A whole-chicken fricassee, served on rice (for two people

Prices are more moderate than in Central or SoHo, though not really cheap -- we paid $900 for our dinner, including a carafe of wine. Well worth the excursion, and if you live on that end of the island, you should definitely be giving them a try.

!! that night! i was inivited by my fds for Xmas dinner in this restaurant.
My fds ordered 3 starters and 2main course for sharing

Actually, i'm not sure some foods what names are they, but extremely remember ''frogs legs'' and ''salt cod'',
I very very very very love two dishes! frogs legs were panfried with herbs, smell is good! salt cod with mushed potato and toasts on side.
For main.... we had roast chicken and pork! How big roast chicken is !!! so yummy. but it is too much for us, we packed it up at last.
Then, waiter gave the dessert menu for us. but........ but we had been extremely full!!!!!!!
so we just ordered halt bottle of dessert wine to have an intimate talk...........
finally we became the last table left


too regret that forgot take photo;((((( i hope next time i will be back there!

一家像樣的西餐廳,麫包是少不了的,除了麪包的質素外,另一樣可以看到餐廳是否有誠意,就是那件牛油。我已經不去考究是butter還是margarine,或者是salted還是unsalted,這些是四季酒店才去做的玩意,我只看看牛油的情況,是一小包的現成還是已經倒出來,還有它的溶化程度。從我用的牛油來看,這家店是很用心去處理食物的。

我點了一個忌廉湯作前菜,湯是白色的,碗也是白色的,湯面上有些泡,為幼滑的湯帶來一點口感。女朋友則點了一個沙律,沙律用一大塊長型的生菜剩著。感謝主,這是真正的沙律,是有火箭菜的沙律。

因為朋友海鮮敏感,她點了牛扒。我是魚痴,我點了煎三文魚扒。朋友的牛扒旁有一堆薯蓉。我心想,這家餐廳棋逢敵手了,我們這些半個外國人對薯蓉的要求很高。竟然 ….. 朋友一下食完,之後說:這是真正的薯蓉。

我的三文魚 - 天呀! 三文魚要煎得好吃,一定不能全熟,否則”鞋”過柴皮。這次師傅做到剛剛好,中間剛剛熟,魚本來應該就是這樣。

朋友的問題來了,因為把薯蓉吃完,肚的位置放不下兩塊 - 沒錯是兩塊的牛扒。我的魚扒也很大件,我幫不了忙。侍應來清碟時,問了問朋友:”是不是有甚麼問題我可以叫廚房做一份你滿意的。”多麼窩心。朋友竟然如實說出她被薯蓉填滿肚子吃不下牛扒的事,我和侍應都笑了。

滿以為很滿足的一餐要到終結,點餐茶的時候......我點了咖啡,咖啡是特別調配的,如果對乳糖沒有敏感,只需要把奶加進咖啡中,不用加糖也不會有苦澀的感覺。

很滿意,一定會再來。

老公生日,和朋友一行6人選了這間 Bistronomique, 竟然在西環尾這地方也可以座無虛設我們吾係好睇得明個 menu ,由 waiter 解釋得好清楚,佢介紹幾個頭盤都比想像中好,有個別 豬頭'豬耳加豬舌都很好特別是那個田雞腿真的令我意外,非常正, Main couse 那個 Roast chicken 好有氣勢,味道都非常可口,至於佢推介的那支紅酒,係佢地的 House wine 都比想象中好,環境就迫 D 不過都好有氣氛, 重有那個超高樓底好有氣勢,總括來講 我感覺幾好有80分以上

My friend who lives in rapidly changing Kennedy Town recommended this restaurant to me. She had lunch here on a weekday with her work friends and told me the food was rather nice. Last sunday we went to this French restaurant with my 3 year-old boy. By viewing the only 3 comments on the OP, I cannot believe that we are talking about the same restaurant. My friend who lives in rapidly changing Kennedy Town recommended this restaurant to me. She had lunch here on a weekday with her work friends and told me the food was rather nice. Last sunday we went to this French restaurant with my 3 year-old boy.
By viewing the only 3 comments on the OP, I cannot believe that we are talking about the same restaurant.
My friend resevered a table for three on that morning and when we arrived at the restaurant at 1:30pm, there was only a table of 3 customers finishing their meals and it was almost an empty restaurant. Looking at their menu it looks like they serve rather authentic French cusine although they served Sunday lunch set that day, I decided to go for the A` la carte menu. Since my boy likes potatoes I ordered duck fat potatoes for him and the waiter told me the duck fat potatoes were not ready. I was disappointed cos i think it is such a simple side dish and they don't do it for lunch? I changed my mind to the Sunday brunch set and it said ''all you can drink'' and i was told that it was all u can drink Mr. juicy!
It sounds like some kind of kids' meal and even some all u can eat hotpot or korean BBQ. It put me off a bit and I'd rather they serve just a glass of fresh juice.
There had four choices for the three-course meal without derrerts, I chose mushroom soup and Sirloin steak and my friend went for Caesar salad, pumpkin and chestnut risotto. Each set charged at $198 and we were expecting some reasonable good lunch.
Waiter served us some bread to start with and it was nothing special but on the dry side. As long as my soup arrived, my heart sank, it's the most watery mushroom I have never seen! It didn't look right and it didn't taste right either. My friend's starter was a tiny bit better than mine but she skippped all the bacon bits cos they were not crispy but fatty.

At this stage my friend was wondering if it was the same chef who cooked the other day she came. Roughly finished our starters and our main courses arrived, they looked alright and my steak looked like medium rare as i ordered. Surprisingly, there were duck fat potatoes sitting on my plate! I didn't bother asking why they told me the potatoes were not ready but by looking at them, they were all dried out and rock hard.
Moving on to my steak, it's my last hope, again,disappointment after disappointment, it was super tough and I tried so hard to cut through it and it's just impossible!

My friend must've felt a bit embarrassed that she took me to this place and she suggested that I should complain. I don't really believe in complaining of poor quality food and sending it back to the kitchen. I choose never return to it. I don't know how many chefs would admit that they cannot cook. When i was still struggling with my shoe-leathered steak, my friend found a sharp plastic object in her rissoto
! We had no choice but told the waiter and he took the plate away and agreed that plastic was rather sharp. We were glad that on one was hurt specially my son and he was sharing all the food with us
We also told him that my steak was inedible and we were not happy customers

He then offered me tuna to replace my steak and a free dessert to make it up with the harzadous risotto. To be honest, at this point we both wanted to leave asap but the waiter was quite sincere and he said he would reflect our opinion to the chef etc. My tuna was dry and after all these i had lost my apppetite completely so i had a few bite and left it. The waiter recommened a lemon tart for the complimentary dessert, the tart was really strange. It's got some lemony taste, almost runny curd filled in a tart shell and it wasn't baked and it wasn't even chilled to set. Would it be some special lemon tarts from somewhere of France

When we finished our coffee and we were still the only customers, it it a sign?
Walking out the restaurant and paid $450 for the lousy food and drama, I wish I was in Soho somewhere sipping my fresh juice and having a more enjoyable Sunday brunch.

We are all big fans of On Lot 10, and were curious to see what the menu would look like, since we had heard that this was more "down market". I was surprised to find it situated along a row of new restaurants and bars in Kennedy Town. The place is brand new, with high ceilings and a modern/minimalist decor. We are all big fans of On Lot 10, and were curious to see what the menu would look like, since we had heard that this was more "down market". I was surprised to find it situated along a row of new restaurants and bars in Kennedy Town. The place is brand new, with high ceilings and a modern/minimalist decor.

The menu overlapped somewhat with the one at On Lot 10, offering a few offbeat but familiar items that I love. It didn't take long for me to figure out what I wanted.

I was looking at a few other things when I saw roasted marrow bone on the menu, and I was sold. I've always loved bone marrow, and the last one I had was pretty decadent. Tonight this was covered with a layer of finely diced parsley, and I greedily scooped out chunks of it and laid them on pieces of bread. Heavenly goodness.

We turned out to be a real boring crowd, as three out of four of us including myself took the duck leg cassoulet as main course. It's been two years since my last cassoulet, and I've been missing it dearly.

The pans in front of us looked slightly different than we expected, as this was fairly dry instead of being a more liquid stew. Most of the ingredients were there along with a few new ones - white haricot beans with gratin, a whole duck leg with very tender and juicy meat, diced lardons, yummy pig trotter skin and collagen, and even a gizzard. Would have been better with some sausage, but it was delicious enough that we weren't really complaining.

I was kinda full by now, and decided not to take dessert...

David explained to me that after the initial period, they are now looking to change the menu so that Bistronomique and On Lot 10 would each have its own menu. I look forward to returning to find out what he has in store for us.

同女朋友諗住慶祝情人節,知道屋企附近有間新餐廳開張,就諗住去試一試,當晚大約8點鐘去到,我已經見到坐無 設,一入門口已經有個好熱情的待應招呼 我地,等左一陣,已經有一個非常新鮮既面包和一個好軟滑既牛油送到,第一個印象唔錯,跟住當晚我點了頭盤係田雞加田螺和一客由個待應介紹既法式豬頭肉,再要兩份佢話招牌的魚湯,主菜就要了一份羊扒 ,而我女朋友就要了一個銀雪魚,等了大約5分鐘,頭盤到啦,個田雞真的非常好食,有D出乎 意料之外既好食,到那個豬頭,都感覺非常特別,最少都有80分,我同我女朋友都非常滿意.不過不知是否太多人的關係,0個湯等左 差不多20分鐘都未到,跟住那個待應生非常唔好意思地解釋,因今晚同一時間太多人的關係,所以佢話請我地飲個湯,態度非常之好,而事實上個湯都非常之好飲,好啦,到了今晚的主菜了,羊扒 和那個銀雪魚,絕對可以比美大酒店既水準,到了甜品,因為已經十分飽的關係,我們只要了一份Apple tart ,而那個甜品都非常之好味,總結來講,我一定會再幫襯呢間餐廳,呢間餐廳真係吾錯,西環終於有一間有水準既西餐廳了!!
