The fact that only 1 person was eating lunch there at 1:45 pm on a Tuesday should have been a warning sign to walk back down the stairs and find a better place for lunch.

This was my 2nd time eating here. The first was about 2 years ago, and I had forgotten how expensive this place is for what you get. I had a basic burger with raw red onions and lettuce ($58, the 2nd cheapest burger option available), onion rings ($39) and a can of Pepsi ($20). After the 10% discount for using an HSBC credit card, the total was $105. Note that the only reason I ordered onion rings was because I was told they were out of fries. How can a burger restaurant not have fries???

As for the food:
The burger meat was okay and cooked to my preference (medium), but the patty didn't cover the bun. Therefore there were quite a few bites of only bread, lettuce and onion!


The onion rings were a joke. It appears they forgot to separate them before putting them in the oil because there were several "rings inside of rings", which meant that most of them were undercooked and mushy on either the inside or outside edges. They were not crunchy and I couldn't taste any salt!


The lukewarm Pepsi taken from the self-help fridge was probably the highlight of the meal. I guess that sums it up...

噢~ 厚度十足的漢堡包出現在眼前了, 安格斯牛肉夠足料, 麵包亦夠份量, 加上其他配料, 真的很巨型呵~ 幸好祇是點了一個!! 麵包口感鬆軟, 牛肉味又香又濃, 肉質夠彈性, 車打芝士和蕃茄帶來了加倍滋潤, 使每一口漢堡都感覺很juicy, 唯獨是火箭菜味道不夠突出, 不能給味蕾多一個層次的享受.

每人半個漢堡當然不夠喉, 另外點了一個青菜沙律和一份辣肉醬芝士薯條; 沙律夠青甜夠爽口, 可以緩和一下牛肉的肥膩;
辣肉醬芝士薯條惹味非常, 吃了第一口便忍不住要吃第二口, 一路吃過沒完沒了, 吃多了開始感受到辣肉醬的辛辣, 趕忙把飲料往口裡送, 絕對夠hot!!

Morning Glory ($78) -- 既然到這主打安格斯牛肉的漢堡店,當然要選一款包括這種牛肉的包,而這包除了主要的牛肉外,餡料還有多款西式早餐不可缺少的雞蛋、煙肉、大型冬菇、蕃茄、焗豆和蕃茄醬汁,全部都是早餐食物,唔怪得個包叫 Morning Glory 喇。這包比較特別的是那隻大冬菇厚身得來都幾有咬口,而且菇味獨特,幸好沒有搶去牛肉的光芒。

至於主角安格斯牛肉,肉汁豐富,雖然未至於滴到滿檯都是,但也牛味濃郁,生熟度適中;而漢堡包包身稱得上鬆軟新鮮,不過未知是否外帶關係,咬落去時已沒有脆口感覺,但整體來說又不至於太差,看來是我今晚運氣蠻不錯呢。

The “Half-Half” ($30) -- 至於小吃 "Half half" 是薯條加洋蔥圈,看來是店方一個細心的安排,可讓食客一次過嘗兩款小食,不過唔知係咪薯仔比洋蔥便宜的關係,薯條竟佔整客小吃的三份二,而洋蔥圈就只得寥寥數個。當然這些即炸食物不在現場吃而外帶,質素一定會大打折扣,所以唔好食自己也要負上一定的責任,無論薯條或洋蔥圈都像洩了氣般,又腍又韌,洋蔥圈更毫無洋蔥汁的香氣,不過店方所提供的蘸薯條茄汁,並非市面一般快餐店的一小包貨式,竟然以一個小膠盒盛得滿滿的,實在非常慷慨,相信如果這小食改為堂吃,炸物質素應比現在出色的。
講真如果以正價來吃這一餐又確實有點貴,不過現在只需 $55 又另作別論,而且個包的質素又真的不是那麼差呢,麥當奴漢堡餐都要接近三十塊錢啦,所以如果這裡有半價,是可以一試的。

The coupon allow us to order 2 burgers below $78, very good deal but without coupon I'd say is quite expensive...maybe that's why only 1 customer there......

Once placed the order, they gave me a blue plastic disc like, I guess it's a bipper, but we're pretty much the only customer there...what's the point having that....

Anyway they freshly cook everything, so we waited for 15mins to have the food ready, wow I ordered the burger (forgot the name) with mushroom, an egg, bacon and vegi, taste was so good and the beef was just so juicy with lots of meat juice!!


My friend ordered one with truffle sauce, not sure about the taste but she said it taste also very good (but of course for $78 it's quite expensive)

Overall very good burger with absolutely fresh ingredient, of course with the preimum price tag as well....can go only once in a while without the coupon la....

第一張椅當我座上去時是搖的, 轉了另一張才好些少!!

漢堡包牛肉味道不錯, 肉質可口, 內有芝士, 不過有點"油"不時漏出來!!
但我吃到中間, 有一層很濃的硬焦塊, 我吐了出來, 如此貴的包竟然有這樣的製作???

那天發覺對面酒吧大多佬,最後隨機下和女友到了這家漢堡。整餐的感覺是可以的,不過回來後發現原來劣評竟比好評多,看來要說點公道話。那晚差不多滿客,大多是說洋話的人。安頓好去看看菜譜,確有點複雜,但也代表很多選擇空間,我們很快就選到合適的漢堡,再加客芝士薯條和沙律。漢堡店是開放式廚房,和廚師距離近點,看著漢堡製作,對他們衛生很放心(已聽得太多某連鎖店的恐怖故事)。靜靜地等待了二十分鐘,食品終於來了。漢堡質素很不錯,沙爹雞和澳洲免治牛很 juicy,飽熱、軟、香。芝士薯條:芝士夠,薯條新鮮沙律:菜顏色和質感都新鮮總結:簡簡單單小店,環境和店員皆友善,食品有誠意,滿足。

那天發覺對面酒吧大多佬,最後隨機下和女友到了這家漢堡。

整餐的感覺是可以的,不過回來後發現原來劣評竟比好評多,看來要說點公道話。

那晚差不多滿客,大多是說洋話的人。安頓好去看看菜譜,確有點複雜,但也代表很多選擇空間,我們很快就選到合適的漢堡,再加客芝士薯條和沙律。

漢堡店是開放式廚房,和廚師距離近點,看著漢堡製作,對他們衛生很放心(已聽得太多某連鎖店的恐怖故事)。

靜靜地等待了二十分鐘,食品終於來了。

漢堡質素很不錯,沙爹雞和澳洲免治牛很 juicy,飽熱、軟、香。

芝士薯條:芝士夠,薯條新鮮

沙律:菜顏色和質感都新鮮

總結:簡簡單單小店,環境和店員皆友善,食品有誠意,滿足。

Again, the adventurous duo (that is my beautiful girlfriend and I) went off to Central on a mini-food tour.With less than $150 between us, we set off on the escalators, going all the way to the top, hoping to find something interesting to snack on. We crossed by Lebanese restaurants, Pizza Express, Yorkshire pudding and a bunch of other fabulously intriguing restaurants, but we couldn't afford any of them. She noticed Gourmet burgers for $48 on the window of GBU, so we decided to 'check it out'

She noticed Gourmet burgers for $48 on the window of GBU, so we decided to 'check it out'. Having nothing particularly that we were craving for except for some comfort food, we ordered a Southern Swine and a Double Truffle Burger.

It took longer than we expected for it to come, but looking at the product, it was worth the wait. Really, it was a scrunched up, dirty, sloppy burger - exactly what a burger should be.

Took a bite.


wahhhhhh so salty. Took another bite. Still salty, but this time, I could taste the flavors meshing together - the bacon and the rocket worked together amazingly with the bbq sauce. I never thought rocket would do so well in a burger. Her Double Truffle Burger was nice as well - the truffle cream had almost no hint of truffle in it, but it meshed well with the patty.

All in all it was okay.

Too bad we had no money for cheese fries.

係英國時, 很享受跟同學一起到GOURMET BURGER~! 一個free range checken burger 加上杯又香又滑的strawberry MilkSHAKE, 就完完全全忘記功課的壓力! 返hk後, 經常經過中環gbu, 心思思想試一次, 今天終於有機會光顧. 上到去, 完來好細, 不像外圍看到時的感覺 看menu時覺得與英國的有點點不同, 心想不同地區, 口味及menu唔同不出為奇, 不過沒有售英國肥肥的chips, 所以有點失望等了大約十多分鐘, 愈坐愈熱, 也愈來愈大油煙味. 完成這'無言以對'的午餐, 在網上找找從前一點快樂回憶, 才發覺在英國的那家叫 GOURMET BURGER KITCHEN, (gbk) 香港的叫 GOURMET BURGER UNION (gbu)!! 我也不怪人家什么了, 但一定不會再再花上一佰大元幫襯!

My Gourmet Burger raves continue...this time at the GBU, on their big menu on the wall you can either choose their special recipe burger, or you can have your own preference... we choose the first one....Truffle Burger, with tiny traces of truffle GBU Big Boy burger, New Zealand beef, bacon, mushroom,Camembert cheese rocket,other than too much cheese used and made the burger over salted, the burger actually tl flavour is full and good once you have removed the extra cheese...Fries Poutine ....w

I am usually not very harsh when reviewing restaurant, but this might be the first one to break that rule. Dropped by this place while in search for nice burger for lunch but I should have been less lazy and continue walking up to the SoHo area to find another one. First thing I noticed was that the menu was rather confusing, with words all over the wall / board. Dropped by this place while in search for nice burger for lunch but I should have been less lazy and continue walking up to the SoHo area to find another one. First thing I noticed was that the menu was rather confusing, with words all over the wall / board. On the left was a bunch of individual items / ingredients to select from and on the right was a list of pre-set burgers. This place is promoting the "build your own burgers" concept hence the large selection. I was not sure where to start and stood there for over a minute until someone came over to help me. I ended up picking the (1) Jimmy the Greek value combo which comes with fries and a can of Cheery Coke (imported directly from the US for sure).
This place is more like a fast food burger joint with two dozen or so stools around some bar tables. The kitchen area was of open style hence the greasy smell you would definitely carry with you when you leave. I arrived around 1pm (peak lunch hour) but there were only 5 customers and over 7 or 8 staff in total (including the cooks).

The main condiments under the bun were grilled peppers, cheese, black olives and hummus. Alright, where should I start. The bun was cold, the beef was definitely overcooked even when the menu said medium was the standard, the sauce was overly sour for some reasons and the fries were stale! Did I mention the beef was very dry as well? Maybe I picked an interesting style to try but the bun and beef should not be cold and dry respectively.

Its key slogan is "build your own burger," and I think they are right about that or at least trying to tell me something: I should make my own burger at home!

Gourmet Burger Union at first I thought it was abit too over price for a burger since we could always get a cheap set of meal down mcdonalds BUT since I've been passing by so many times at the soho escalator and their location is seen by hundreds of people passing by It finally cross my mind to drop by to have my dinner there. So right after work I invited some of my officemates to join me because it would be my first time trying out an american size burger shown on their T.V below the restauran

Finally we've entered GBU and it did confused us at first as we looked at their menu,
to our surprise we didnt expect They WOULD HAVE A HUGE SELECTION OF CHEESE which you've never seen in Hong Kong for a burger shop. pretty fasinating, made me crave for more toppings they do have a wide selection of BUILD YOUR OWN BUGER at the same time THE SIGNATURE burgers are mouth watering from the ingredient itself..

Finally the friendly cashier came to me with a smiling face and holding a menu for me to select if I wanted the B.Y.O.B or A SIGNATURE BURGER.. took me a few minutes to decide.
and there you go made up my mind choosing MORNING GLORY with a side of WEDGES WITH CHILI AND CHEESE AND A CAN OF DC PEPPER. paid my food got a funny looking toy on my hand after i got my change back.
Good thing the cashier mention what was that for or else i would be so amused and bring it back home

finished my burger,was satisfied with a tasty meal..

I ordered a chicken, bacon and avocado burger, tried to mix the good fats with the bad ones. Nobody tells you what's going on after you have ordered, you were given a pager and that's it. No "Hello", No "thank you", No directions and certainly No waiting time given, maybe this is not allowed, shhhhh....... The

Nobody tells you what's going on after you have ordered, you were given a pager and that's it. No "Hello", No "thank you", No directions and certainly No waiting time given, maybe this is not allowed, shhhhh....... The only interaction is when they told me the wine on the list is not actually on the list, they do not have a liquor licence and if I want alcohol, it is going to cost me dearly as they have to run downstairs to another dodgy joint to get me what I want (and put their mark up on it too!?)

No sooner have you found a seat, you realise the fatty smell registered in the air is actually their air freshener, you smell like the food you eat, NICE! They need that to lift the uninspiring decor.

A long kebab stick holds the burger together which might as well since all the contents spilt out after the first bite, luckily the tissues are freely available. And you realise the Executive Chef (is there one?) who formulated the menu did not have a clue how to put the burger together. The Nepalese guy who cooks the food has greasy hair, looks sweaty and his clothes have random damp patches which might be a good game to play while you are having the burger to work out whether they are grease marks or sweat. He also used the same gloved hand to handle both raw and cooked ingredients which is not a rare scene for Hong Kong kitchens but an eye opener when you have an open kitchen.

My unknown brand sparkling mineral water cost $30, I was given a tall greasy rock glass filled with ice made with contaminated tap water and the glass still has bits of food stuck on it's rim, NICE!

The fries I ordered tasted like chicken fat and oil has been used over and over again for everything including the staff dinner and it is very close to the end of it's life cycle.

I got out as soon as I could but the fatty smell on my shirt lingers for 2 hours at least, can't help thinking of going to detox this fatty, dirty burger joint out of my system.
