又到搵lunch 嘅時候, 本身想去食泰國豬脾飯, 但行經見佢新開又似好好味就行左入去。點左個順化牛肉河、加蝦餅、再加咸檸七, 先唔講好唔好食, 淨係咁樣加加加, 已經心算over $120, 黎到嘅時候,一撩個粉真係嘩左出黎。。真係無誇張, 就得呢一住, 多都係, 應該幾口就食完,但盛謂$78 真係好o 咀。粉其實係米線, 牛肉係好食, 但相都睇到, 非常咁整之薄, 札肉亦都一樣, 好比火腿嘅厚度。。。。 然後到加左$22 嘅蝦餅, 無特別、無驚喜食哂碗粉、蝦餅, 再飲哂成杯野飲都只係勉強飽, 真係。。。 賺錢都唔係咁呃秤法。。。女子一個都唔飽,試問男人點會夠食??最黎所有野盛謂$127 唔飽仲要咁貴,又無特別。。。。 銅鑼灣咁多粉面都好過佢, 絕對無下次

粉其實係米線, 牛肉係好食, 但相都睇到, 非常咁整之薄, 札肉亦都一樣, 好比火腿嘅厚度。。。。

I love pho. Growing up in Canada with a strong Vietnamese community, pho was what I loved. For that hearty bowl of beef broth immersed with noodles and beef. Crunchy bean sprouts and fresh basil. I love pho. Growing up in Canada with a strong Vietnamese community, pho was what I loved. For that hearty bowl of beef broth immersed with noodles and beef. Crunchy bean sprouts and fresh basil. Pho was everything. But when I arrived in Hong Kong, the pho here wasn't the same. It wasn't rich. It was not hearty.

But lately there have been a number of new Vietnamese restaurants. All seem to feature pho. Claiming the pho wasa like the ones from North America. I've tried a few (and still going through my list). I think only one came close. The rest were just sad overpriced fare.


Enter Pho Metro. A new place in Causeway Bay. I walked by and it said "Originated from Toronto". I may not be from Toronto so I have never heard  of Pho Metro. And upon searching their official website, there was no mention that they had branched out to Hong Kong either. But curious, I went in to give it a try.


The place is large and spacious. There is a long communal table in the middle.


Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge.

As I wasn't interested in anything but pho, that is what I ordered: a pho  special ($78). When it arrived, the bowl was pretty big but the amount of noodles was not a lot.

The soup was astounding. It was exactly how I remembered the pho back home. Rich with a strong beef flavor. Clear yet strong.

The noodles were the type usually found in North American pho. A thin flat rice noodle that was near transparent. It was still chewy and soaked the broth wonderfully.

Pho special came with raw beef, brisket, meat ball and tripe. The raw beef was moist and tender.

The brisket was braised to the point of falling apart.

The meat balls were ok. Bouncy with a heavy taste of beef.

The tripe was a  bit disappointing. A bit on the thin side. It was also a bit too chewy.

The thing with pho is the soup. At least in my opinion. And this place does the broth perfectly. It was delicious and probably the best  broth in town. Though claiming to be from Toronto, portion sizes are definitely not Canadian size. It was a bit on the small side. And service? Well ... service was pushy. I sat down and didn't even have time to look at my menu when the wait staff literally pushed her order pad in front of me and asked "Your order?" When I said give me a minute, she said ok and pushed here pad closer toward me. Geez ... when a customer says give me a minute, it means they are not ready. Completely cha chan teng service. Something I hate as I dislike being stressed before I order. For this, it deters me from returning soon. I may at a later date but I'll make sure that person is not working that day before I enter.

此店正在試業中,在蘭芳道嘅中間,被漂亮嘅裝修吸引住。佢入面中間有高椅,好像別樹一格,但我朋友有帶小朋友,所以坐了在側根的普通枱椅。。。吃個早早的午餐,吃了越式香茅豬扒㩚,佢有得揀湯㩚或者撈㩚😍,並能使用優惠價享用小食及飲品各一。喜歡吃紙米卷,飲了好味的青檸梳打。🤤 朋友則選擇了越南香腸和青檸可樂,朋友也讚不絕口。另外朋友選擇了扎肉湯粉,因為有小朋友,下次試個辣嘅🤤回味無窮,裝修格局令人感覺很舒服清新,食物質素也很好味,會再回頭。
