這個奶油味頗重的牛油上回已令我很著迷,

而且這回還有溫熱的小法包,比上回更好吃!

在巴黎吃到法包,內裡的麵包芯帶酸,

我會把中間都掏空,只吃香脆的外層。

(我曾活得很浪費,可這是咀尖尖的法國人教我的吃法)

Bouchon家的跟在巴黎吃到的法包不同,

這個沒有那份酸度,內膽的麵包筋度也較低,

雖是比正宗法包偏硬,

但和於巴黎吃到的一樣,仍算外脆內軟。

每位食客點的肉眼扒也是份量巨大,

女生的胃絕對裝不下這一大盤。

剛上盤的牛肉軟稔肉香,

嫣紅嫩滑的牛肉配上盤旁的海鹽,

簡簡單單的已能突出牛肉的鮮味。

醬汁我還選了邪惡感滿分的 Béarnaise,

芝士味香濃,沾肉時略嚴蓋過肉香,

配上熱烘烘的火柴薯片,是神來之手的美味!

隊長這次就試了紅酒燉安格斯牛肩,

牛肩偏瘦削,很好肉質完燉得稔稔的,

略嚴燉煮時紅酒的份量不足,葡萄味不夠香濃。

看似份量不多,這就太輕視它的實力,

把兩塊牛肩肉吃完,得捧著肚子離開。

Bouchon 的甜品也做得不錯。

我們雙雙被主菜撃敗!

Bouchon 份量很大的主菜令肚子都要撐開了!

I was having brunch (only drink) with my girl friend in Soho, Central, where I was failed to find anything interesting on the menu of our first stop (but their mixed berry smoothy is super good!); we left but just kept walking up and narrowly passed by the main role of this blog post!!! From the head till the tail, I was totally appreciated the decent-till-little-corner attitude of this little bistro. Bouchon Bistro Francais, as my memory, it has been a time to be in Soho and during the happy hour and random lunch hours, it's always not-that-packed, but busy enough. 'There must be some reasons of this!' as my first impression and conclusion of this classically French bistro with a very little entrance.

I love the two semi-standing table at two sides of the entrance, facing to Elgin Street, which would be always the first option if I could find it not-occupied luckily. As most of French-style bistro, wood and old antique are everywhere; among all, I found three my favorits there:

The very interesting three fans hanging on the ceiling, which is semi-conducted, being motivated slowly by the engine and the wide-flat belt
Liquor and wine bottle decorated bar wall in front of the little bar area, which also functions as open storage of glasses and pastries display trays
The transparent kitchen behind the window in the wooden flames

* Besides, I just discovered they even have a very little but cute garden hidden at the bottom which shares the natural day lights and open air with a square of blue sky.

The free-serving baguette with room-temperature is amazing. It's probably one of the best baguette I have had in Hong Kong till now. It's warm, fresh, crispy, and delicious.

Choose from the starters, both of us were surprised a lot by what we though we had ordered. Ham with marinated cauliflower salad and baked baguette (so sorry, I forgot the original dish name... and seems they have already updated the lunch menu). It's absolutely a size bigger than a guy's hand! The light fresh pink looking with the certain glorious surface of moisture and fat; we had a feeling of over-satisfied. It tasted a bit less salty and less flavored as the dry ham should have, but still I would give a big up-thumb to this starter.

Choice of main course, with no doubt, it's steak fries. Medium-rare is perfectly achieved as its super juicy, tender and lovely pink color, and even we had an extra 'reward' to have this 'over roasted' dark color on the surface for an extra flavor of 'roasted'


Shoe-string fries are another adding-point for Bouchon, which shows the restaurant's attitude. To talk about the fries, not too outstanding, but very good in its less-oil & fresh-made taste, plus I had a bias faction of their fries coz of the yummy sauce. (Definitely to run more in the following days....)

Coming to the last course - dessert! I have made my mind when I was walking into the restaurant and by pass the daily dessert display corner at the bar area. To my surprise, they were successfully to make a little surprise to me by making a 'cream brulee' top layer on the normal lemon pie. The butter cookie base is not good enough for the loose texture, but I did enjoy a lot by the refreshing and sour taste of lemon pie and honey-sweet crispy top.

Even for the dessert, they have a little extra point to be marked by me. The served cream with pie, is a big-big recommendation and I just couldn't let it go until I finished all... It's sooooooo light and smooth without any burden; and tasted naturally creamy and sweet.

在巴黎旅行的最後一天,心裡只有一個目標,吃田螺和焦糖燉蛋。正當大家盡最後努力去shopping,我跟友人則找間餐廳,務求在最後的一小時,滿足舌頭的慾望。這夜也特意點了,回味一下。要稱得上Escargot de Bourgogne必須用指定的田螺品種-Helix Pomatia。為了確保它的產量,這種田螺更有規定的禁捕期。簡單地以牛油和香草調味,十分香濃,如果加少許鹽調味,效果更佳。

不在餐牌之上的是日精選,賣相精緻。煎鵝肝很香,沒有入口即融,反像啫喱般可以輕輕咀嚼,邊品味滲出的油脂,做到口感和油香的平衡。沾上少量海鹽,味道更鮮。火箭菜清新甘香。多士很脆,吸收鵝肝的油份,比塗上牛油更香,配上士多啤梨醬,可以中和一下油膩感。要數最喜歡的,一定是鵝肝凍. 十分香濃,口感一流,又不怕油膩。

Gnocchi a la Parisienne - Herb dumplings, local mushrooms, white truffle oil
用上3種不同的菇炮製,口感味道都很豐富。醬汁滿佈牛油和松露香。墊在下面的菠菜,吸收了汁的味道,很好吃。Gnocchi腍腍的,但最後放進焗爐,添上一層金黃的外層。外脆內軟,更鎖住了松露的味道,加上半融的芝士,醮上醬汁,清新而難忘。

Bouillabasse - Provencal seafood stew (Tiger prawns, mussels, perch & crab)
談到普羅旺斯,除了酒,不得不提Bouillabasse。名字由法文的bouillir(boil)和abaisser(reduce)而來,可見它跟一般湯以慢火煲的做法不同,而是一直滾。把各種海鮮的鮮味和蔬菜的甜味,融為一體,就像普羅旺斯經過數次的入侵,歷史使它不經不覺地融入不同的文化。清甜無比的海鮮湯,令人食不停口。大大隻蟹,外層炸得香脆,蟹肉鮮甜。鱸魚皮煎得可口,肉則很滑。還有大蝦,青口和魷魚,果然是落足料。配上兩小片多士和龍蝦味的沙律醬。沙律醬很好吃,只恨不夠多士,胃納也不夠大。

雖然很飽,但還是點了焦糖燉蛋,繼tiramisu後至愛的一道甜點。看著一點點的雲尼拿籽,還在回味香濃幼滑的燉蛋。很香的蛋味,夾雜著雲尼拿香,甜度適中。燒得薄薄的一層焦糖,一敲即碎,咬下去的咔嚓咔嚓地響,甜而不溜,厚度剛好。配兩塊杏仁餅乾,意外地只帶微甜,杏仁味甚香。硬硬的,跟燉蛋形成強烈的對比。

That onion soup after reading open rice very often. But we intended not to go again because of bad Environment and unpleasant stay.
Well not so noisy but a lady with a spectacle “seems from Nepal” was spoiling whole Environment because of rude behavior.
Moreover waiters won’t serve you water unless u ask. Although we apparently asked twice to this lady in charge as we heard her name “prema or prima called by her co worker” whatever but she ignored. Even though that was not a rush hour .
I really prefer and suggest you all to do not place the order with that lady or better do not step-in for dinner as it is not perfect place for a relaxing dinner.
However the soup was great and we ordered pasta as well.
Food is ok but with this kind of service there are better French places- I'd recommend to the owner of
Bouchon Bistro Francais to take notice of services being given in his absence.
However, we left after finishing because that was just terrible visit and couldn’t tolerate her behavior
NEVER AGAIN!!

甜品揀咗Raspberry Charlotte & La Bête Noire~ Raspberry Charlotte上面係lemon sorbet, 個raspberry蛋糕入面係mousse同macaroon嘅質感, 唔太甜, 配埋個lemon sorbet中和返非常好!! La Bête Noire係organic 64% dark chocolate配vanilla ice-cream, 平時唔特別鍾意dark chocolate, 但呢個唔苦, 同非常之滑, 好好味!!

因為我地兩個唔飲酒, 叫soft drinks唔抵, 所以望下drinks list, 反而咖啡平均價錢$3x好合理仲平過Starbucks同平時小型coffee shops/cafe, 所以叫咗iced latte & cappuccino, 好香咖啡味~

總括非常滿意嘅一餐, 揀啱地方, 有個開心new year eve~

HF's dish. Lovely dish with flavourful white wine broth and loads of sweet mussels. Once again, loads of house foccacia was consumed here, to finish the yummy broth.

選用外型較大的藍青口,雖不及小號藍青口的鮮嫩,第一口吃下還是很有鮮味的衝擊!隊長也說跟平時吃到的青口不同,展露出大滿足的表情。肉質嫩滑,烹調的時間掌握得剛好。論鮮味度,當然不及法國的,但在香港找到有如此水準實在難得!(吃海產我總是咀刁刁的大小姐上身,特別是當你遇過最好的,其他都輕易被比下去,這道理應用於任何層面)

嫣紅的肉色教人歡喜,入口嫩滑,散發香濃肉香,愛肉人士必定喜歡。烤過的番茄上層灑上麵包糠、芝士,咬下即溢出濃度十足的番茄汁,這個番茄要是來一盤,也能完全清盤。

我和隊長習慣慢條斯理,細味晚餐,三小時是「Standard」,吃完主菜差不多到了交枱時間,下一輪的客人也漸漸進入餐廳。一頓完美的晚餐需要一道甜品作終結,我們耳猶未盡,點了需時製作的蘋果批,為晚飯畫上完美的句號。

不消15分鐘,蘋果批就端到枱上,烤上焦糖外層的蘋果沒有甜得要逼成誰,甜度是港人能接受的口味,還有蘋果酒的點綴,一旁的雪糕伴上果仁碎,溶透心。反而Vanilla cream 可有可無,不太重要。

So up we went to Elgin Street on a sweltering Saturday evening. The place isn't very big and bookings are highly recommended. It should be noted that they have two seatings on weekends - the first one from 6pm to 830pm and the second one from 845pm onwards.

We got a booth at the back corner, next to the semi-open kitchen with the fantastic garlic bulb hangings; and started the evening with a glass of their house Bordeaux and two appetizers.

The assorted meat platter consisted of foie gras, bayonne ham, garlic sausages, saucisson, chorizo and rillette. Sadly, the foie gras, which was the reason why we picked Bouchon for dinner was totally unmemorable. However, the saucisson and chorizo were delicious! A little tough and chewy, salted to perfection, with just the right amount of fat that melts on your fingers as you nibble it away.

Then we ordered steaks for mains that came with a mountain of shoestring fries that tasted like Picnic (the pre-packed potato chips in a can). (I make this comparison as a compliment, by the way.)

Although I asked for my steak to be medium well, it came to me well done; there was no slightly pink centre and it was almost carton-like in texture.

In hindsight, maybe we should've skipped the steak and had frog legs and duck instead (which the table next to us had, and they looked exquisite!)

We capped dinner off with an order of their dark chocolate mousse with assorted berries. This was, hands down, the best food I had that night.

Finally, I ordered through the manager who obviously knew what medium rare was.

Unfortunately the shoestring fries were the only delicious item on the plate but they were not consistent because some plates were nicely done and some were over done.
The beef was rubbish because it was extremely chewy and not juicy with some unchewable bits.

女孩子的聚會怎可以沒有甜品呢? 點了二客cream brulee和一客海鹽朱古力mousse。原來這裡一客cream brulee是有兩個的, 甚有蛋香, 而上面的焦糖烤得脆脆的, 好吃, 還配上了一件曲奇餅! 相比之下海鹽朱古力mousse較失色, 並沒有吃得出海鹽的味道, 而且還有點漏。

Other Info. : 我們還開了一支酒, 但侍應只倒了一次酒, 應該還有酒剩下的, 但竟然侍應沒有再為我們refill, 亦沒有提醒我們還有酒剩了, 難道連少少酒也要慳錢? 所以服務分較低。
