I had dinner with my friends the other night and was very happy with the experience. The food was delicious and the service fantastic. The staff went above and beyond to make us happy and to accommodate my friends special dietary requirements. I especially recommend trying the napoleon cake!The decor is also extremely nice and it’s like a little journey into Russia.

We got there a little bit earlier around 5:45PM so there was no wait at all. Dacha is beautifully decorated. Didn't feel like I was in Hong Kong at all.  All tables are covered with a lace tablecloth and each table candle and a small flower for decoration decoration. Traditional artwork was also hung up on walls. Needless to say, the presentation of the menu is also very pretty. Dacha definitely goes the extra mile in creating the cozy, homey atmosphere.

We ended up getting 4 dishes and 1 dessert - Borsch, Georgian Cheese Bread "Khachuapuri", Siberian Pelmeni, Chicken Kiev (recommended by our server)

To start, we were served complimentary borodinsky bread with butter. This is a dark brown sourdough rye bread of Russian origin. The bread was thin and had a sour aftertaste and texture had a rough texture. Wasn't a big fan of it on it's own, but I didn't enjoy it with the borscht soup

Next was the borscht soup served with sour cream. This borscht soup is very different from the ones we see from the in local Hong Kong restaurants. The soup was of a deep homogeneous beetroot red colour. I was also surprised by how strong the flavor was - quite salty and hint of tartness. The creaminess of the sour cream complemented the soup well. Inside, there was grated vegetables and potatoes. For its price, the portion size was on the small side. Nevertheless, it was worth the try. A Russian friend had told me before that Dacha serves real authentic borscht.

Next was the dish I looked forward to the most - Georgian Cheese Bread "Khachuapuri". This was a piece of puff pastry baked with cheese and an egg on top. The manager explained to us that the cheese was feta but saltier. Khachuapuri was definitely my favourite dish out of all. The richness and creaminess of the cheese leaves you very full and satisfied yet wanting more. 

We also ordered the Siberian Pelmeni served with sour cream. The dumplings were well made but to me, this was the most disappointing dish as it tasted similar to the local dumplings we had. The portion size was also on the small side for it's price.

Finally to the main dish - Chicken Kiev. This is a dish of chicken fillet pounded, rolled around in cold butter and fried off after being coated in eggs and breadcrumbs. The chicken is served had a garlicky, herb, butter filling and is served with a small side salad and mash potatoes.  Our server says that this is a very popular dish - I'm really glad that she recommended it to us.

After taking some (quite a long) time, we finally decided on the traditional honey cake Medovik. I had eaten homemade Medovik once before. I'd say that the Dacha's honey cake definitely has more of the "honey flavor" to it. I also really love the attention to detail they have - as seen by the little bee decoration they put on every cake.

Overall, Dacha is a restaurant on the pricier side but definitely worth it if you want to try Eastern European cuisine in a warm, cozy, homey atmosphere here in Hong Kong. The servers were very friendly and very eager to answer any questions you have. I would love to come back to Dacha and try more of their dishes (especially the dessert ones) but not before trying others restaurants to get more of a feel what authentic Eastern European food is like.

I found out about the restaurant from my friends who had had joyable experience there. Being from ex-USSR and hence familiar closely with Russian cuisine, I decided to have a meal in the Dacha.

After I entered the restaurant, I was immediately met by a waiter who kindfully showed me a place to seat. The waiter was an ethnic Russian and I had absolutely no problem in communication due to the usage of Russian language, hehe. Overall, the service was good and I had no complaints about it.

And now about, the most important part, which is food. I ordered borscht (traditional Russian and Ukrainian soup), shashlyk (Russian-style barbecue) and kompot for a beverage. The borscht was absolutely delicious and felt completely authentic - it really was borscht. And black bread 'Borodinsky' baked in Russia was very good surprise. Borscht, I would say, is the must try in Dacha. The shashlyk was served with some veggies and spicy sauce which strongly reminded me Adjika, which is a popular spicy sauce in ex-USSR. The shashlyk was decent, but not a perfection - as for me, it was too dry a bit and the sauce was too spicy for me. And then, after the yummy meal kompot was a perfectly refreshing beverage.

In general, I had really lovely experience visiting the Dacha and I will definetely come there again, if I extremely want to eat some Russian food. The only thing that left me upset is prices. I paid that day 420 HKD which is not an appropriate price per meal for a student. However, the food in Dacha is worth that amount of money.

To everyone who is going to wish the Dach I wish 'priyatnogo appetita', as they say in Russia

行經中環,不想又粥粉麵飯,友人忽然想起他的同事提及此餐廳的東歐菜,我們二話不說直闖去也。餐廳環境充滿歐陸情調,氛圍不錯。看著餐牌的菜式名稱,正是「佢識我,我唔識佢」,幸有英文解說,才知道叫的是甚麼。因為早餐吃得勁飽,我們決定以一個沙律及兩個餐湯成為一頓輕食午餐。Shuba沙律是一層層的蛋絲、希靈魚、紅菜頭、薯蓉、甘筍,豐富得來竟又清新不漏滯,配搭得天衣無縫。Okroshka是一道凍湯,有火腿、青瓜、薯仔、蛋、酸忌廉、刁草,奶滑的湯酸中帶鹹,薯仔和青瓜一綿一爽,加上刁草的香氣,令人暑氣全消。相對地,Solyanka是個濃湯,煙肉、橄欖、漬醃物,同樣是酸酸的,湯裡大量的食材,邊喝邊咬,大滿足之至!東歐菜式做得不差,只是上菜較慢,果然美味的食物是要耐心等候的。

認識的某君把這間餐廳列為all time favourite,
同事食完之後失笑一問:

可能鹹魚青菜,各有所愛。
但某君堅稱dinner係出色好多
可能真的比lunch好,
無從奚考,不予置評。

為甚麽野生三文魚tartar配牛油果還未到,hk$165,侍應說等多一會,來啦,來啦,一個㘣柱體三文魚碎,上面一隻半生熟蛋,底下牛油果;三文魚嫩滑,好像低溫煮,能保持三文魚鲜味,配合牛油果,感覺清新又健康,ye!

餐後有特色朱古力送,用靚靚富東歐小盒盛載,结帳發現無折扣,我用手機英文版優惠券给他看,又交俾中年侍應看,有折,滿意囉!

We ordered Fruit compote, Ajarian Khachapuri (the Georgian cheese bread) and Khinkali (the Georgian dumpling).
叫左個果汁compote(係前蘇聯國家好興,當地係好濃),一個格魯吉亞芝士包,同格魯吉亞牛肉餃子。

When it comes, I feel totally disappointed. The fruit compote is very light... I feel like drinking water with some mint taste.
當佢上菜既時候,我勁失望。d compote好稀,好似薄荷葉溝開水咁。

For the Ajarian khachapuri, it's much smaller than what I ate in Georgia. One of us asked about why the khachapuri base is with some flour and thin. They said original khachapuri is like this.
個芝士包仲好笑!真正既會係用鐵板燒上,同埋比呢舊大兩倍。朋友話食既時候個底有d粉,好似唔夠熟,而且焗得唔夠厚身,就問個waiter點解咁薄,佢話正宗既格魯吉亞芝士包係咁樣。哈哈,我地先係格魯吉亞返黎。

COME ON! We went back from Georgia and you told me it is authentic???

Moreover, the khinkali is like the mini size of chinese dumpling. It is super smaller than what I ate in Georgia. Original khinkali is big as a hand, the skin is very think and you can grasp the top,upside down and then drink the soup inside. Authentic one is eaten by hand. However, I will say this one is like Nepali momo... totally far different from original one.
個d格魯吉亞餃子先搞笑,黎到好似小籠包咁。正宗係好似手掌咁大,可以拎起個頂,倒轉,啜曬入面既湯。而加呢個唔好話有無湯,個皮又唔夠厚,個size又細。你賣得比當地貴唔緊要,香港地價貴,但比返d正宗野吧!

After all, the taste of food is good. But if comparing from the local (cheap) restaurant in east Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia, it is really soso. And not worthy to go.
其實味道係唔錯,但對比東歐、中亞、格魯吉亞d平民餐廳,佢係完全唔合格,仲賣得又貴又細份,氣氛可能另外個間東歐餐廳更好。你想食正宗既話,呢間唔值得去。

But for someone who has never been to those countries. You should try. East European restaurant is rare in Hong Kong. It tastes good but not authentic...
但如果你未試過東歐菜,可以初嘗下。因為香港都無咩東歐餐廳。

訂了訂1pm食午餐,餐廳不太滿,被安排到坐梳化位,十分舒適,外藉waiter給了menu,與網上見到的lunch menu不同,該是轉了餐牌。由於我對蛋及奶制品敏感,餐牌上所有菜式不是有蛋,便有芝士,於是問問waiter餐牌上有哪些食物可以走蛋及芝左,他十分耐心地看,又走入廚房問,出來後說只有沙律可以去除蛋及芝士等食物,其餘的夾雜在食物內不可以走掉,還細心的問我可否食肉,我話無問題,於是便點了Steak Cobb Salad,朋友就點了Russian Style Salmon Sandwich, 兩道食物都十分美味,用料十足。餐廳的服務實在值得推介,食物有水準,相信下次光顧仍然會揀選到適合我的菜式,期待再前往。

Tried this place last year so the menu has probably changed.Went for the brunch but as it was a new restaurants, the food took ages.The salmon and rosti was good, a big fluffy and crispy potato pancake.I was given a honey cake for free because the food was sooooooooo slowwwwwww.

I have enjoyed several meals at Dacha. The hospitality is warm and the food is phenomenal. I highly recommend this restaurant. Specifically the dumplings were fresh and tasty. We always finish the meal with some home made vodkas; and that always rounds off a very enjoyable evening!
