I went there with my fiance, uncle and aunt for dinner. We were looking for a place that had good food, good ambiance and good service. We ordered a variety of dishes, including:
Iberico ham (36 months-old) with toasted bread with tomato - Delicious! At first we thought that the tomato on the bread would overpower the ham, but Chef Alex explained that in Barcelona, Iberico ham is eaten with toasted bread that has tomato on them. Good to know!
Crispy suckling pig
Sauteed shrimps with garlic and chili
Lobster paella - Incredible... and I love paella so much in general - this one was juicy and flavorful.
Tortilla Espanola - Spanish omelette - with chorizo
Salad with selection of vegetables (including eggplants)
Anchovies with home-made potato chips

Venue:
Stunning view and modern decor. Each placeset has chopsticks and apparently it was explained that for the Spanish, food is all about sharing, just like with the Chinese.

Service:
The service was excellent. We were sitting at a table that was near a large group. Somehow I think it was a reunion. The guests were so loud that we requested to change tables. The staff quickly obliged and moved swiftly on that. Overall, the waiters were very courteous.

We had a great time at Fofo. We went on a Monday night and it was packed, so make sure to book!

I like this place a lot and had been there a few times... there were quite some comments that this place has bad service, I always feel their service needs improvement, but as far as the atmosphere and the tapas they are offering, I still keep going back.Now I am sorry to say that last week was the last time. I went with 5 friends, I actually suggested the place and brought my friends their. Eventually everyone didn't feel happy and I was kind of awkward.. Their service didn't seem to be good

Now I am sorry to say that last week was the last time. I went with 5 friends, I actually suggested the place and brought my friends their. Eventually everyone didn't feel happy and I was kind of awkward.. Their service didn't seem to be good already, especially after the dessert, one of the waitress came to clean up the table, she noticed that one of the dessert dishes had not been quite finished yet, and asked "do you still want this?". One of my friends replied "you already take away all the dishes, how can we eat that?" The waitress then continued to take away everything, of course including the half finished dessert. Now I agreed with my friends and I think this is my last straw, have to wish this restaurant good luck then.

為了一試他們的真功夫,我決定棄套餐而選a la carte, 點了我在上海的飛佛,Crispy Suckling Pig, Scallop Ceviche, Saute prawns with garlic and chili, Chorizo Omelet, 再點了上海沒有的 Beef Tartar 及Fideua (西班牙炒米粉)。
Suckling Pig 做得跟上海的有過之而無不及,皮很脆,肉也很嫩。
Scallop Ceviche 感覺跟上海的差不多,沒有太大的驚喜
Saute prawns 是叫我喜出望外的一味,garlic 跟 chili 配得恰到好處,比上海優勝之處是這裡的蝦質量更好更新鮮。
Fideua 也是個不錯的選擇,海鮮的份量很足,也很鮮味,米粉也做得很chewy, 是我從沒吃過的西班牙風味。
我跟朋友開了瓶Cava, 一頓飯吃了3個小時,帳單拿來,習慣了上海的驚人消費,覺得這裡收費比意料中合理,一個下午過得十分愜意

The manager called me again to say they were going to charge me corkage ($250 per bottle). WHAT?! You don’t have a liquor licence and you are going to charge me corkage? Are you out of your mind? Who is the management here? It must be a first tie restaurant owner.
With two days to go, I had to find a new venue b/c no restaurant I’ve ever been to would charge a customer a corkage fee when they don’t have a serving licence. Then the manager called me back to say FoFo will give me a special deal. First bottle’s corkage will be waived. Great. And the other 11 bottles in the case? Oh that will cost $250 each.
These guys have no mind when it comes to service. They are all flash and have no common sense when it comes to service. There are better places to get tapas in this town. Ones that care about customer satification.

當天吃了有:

So a few of my friends had our long overdue get-together dinner at Fofo as per my friend's suggestion. I consider myself a foodie but I've never heard of 'El Willy' (Chef Willy Trullas Moreno) until my friend told me his "El Willy" restaurant has been quite successful in Shanghai. So a few of my friends had our long overdue get-together dinner at Fofo as per my friend's suggestion. I consider myself a foodie but I've never heard of 'El Willy' (Chef Willy Trullas Moreno) until my friend told me his "El Willy" restaurant has been quite successful in Shanghai.

Environment - I quite liked the clean and modern decor at Fofo. Seating felt a tiny bit cramped but it wasn't a major problem. They also had all these cute penguins all over the place (will explain why in a second).

Service - Overall service was decent. Food came promptly, staff were friendly and there were no mixups with our orders. In between courses/dishes I felt the waiters were not trained quite properly since when giving us fresh new plates they put our dirty cutlery on the white table cloth which immediately stained it. To me this is a bit of a problem since once an area of a table cloth is stained...you run the risk of indirectly staining a customer's sleeves. Towards the end I noticed the table cloth was quite messy with bits of food. This wasn't from us but more so from the waiters while they were changing plates and serving food. To me this is a point that management potentially needs to address.

What was a big plus was the chef (Alex Fargas) came out and introduced himself and asked us how the food was. Chef Fargas has cooked in Barcelona, Shanghai, Dubai and now Hong Kong so he's well traveled. To me this is a nice touch. He proceeded to tell us the story behind the restaurant's name. Apparently "Fofo" means "chubby" in Spanish hence the small penguin statues all around the restaurant. How cute.

So food wise we went with 8 tapas style dishes between the 4 of us then order a paella and dessert. Two things we immediately noticed was:

1) There were chopsticks at our table which is a little strange for a Spanish restaurant (Chef Fargas said 80% of their cliente is local Hong Kong people so apparently they enjoy using chopsticks for Spanish food).

2) The menu is written in English and Chinese. This reminds me a little of Le Fauchon in Central. It says to me the food here is probably Spanish food that is catered towards Chinese people.

So here's what we ordered:

Croquettes Filled With Creamed Potatoes - So the dish looks pretty boring but I quite liked the taste and contrast between the crispy exterior of the croquettes against the creamy potato interior. Not going to blow you away but I thought nice start to the night.

King fish tartar, eggplant tarragon, Lime And Ginger Sorbet - Not bad. Felt a little too much like eating sashimi but a refreshing start to the meal.

Seared Foie Gras, Scallop, Kumquat, Beetroot And Popcorn Powder - This dish could have been killer but personally I didn't quite get it. The foie gras was tasty and rich but I think it overpowered the thin slice of raw scallop. So in a way all I got was the texture of the scallop. The popcorn powder and the cracker at the bottom provided a nice crunch. Not bad.

Crispy Suckling Pig Cooked Spanish Style Potatoes & Garlic Chili Emulsion - This is a signature Willy dish. Probably not the smartest to order this for people watching their weight but I loved it. The pig had nice crispy skin and the meat was super tender. From what I hear they slow cook it for 12 hours so that's why it's so tender. It sits on a slice of Spanish potato (very soft) which I think was a nice contrast to the crispy skin of the suckling pig.

Beef Cheek With Banana & Passion Fruit Crispy Roll- This is another signature Willy dish...although I think the sweet fruity sauce made this dish not work for me. The beef cheek by itself was quite good (very tender) but it was sitting on a small crispy banana roll. To me the banana roll didn't particularly go well with the savory beef cheek plus it lost part of its crispiness since is was drench in the passion fruit sauce. The overly sweet (at least to me) passion fruit sauce wasn't my favorite either. It would have been so much better if it was something simple like a red wine reduction.

Organic Eggs, Potatoes & Chorizo - The egg cooked is at 65 degrees (to make them extra runny). Personally I think this dish is a miss for me. Chorizo was kind of nice but the portion of potatoes (which are like small thin fries) was way too much in comparison to the chorizo and egg (more egg would solve the problem). Plus the dish overall was really messy once you broke the egg yolk. I love runny eggs but I don't think it worked that great as a dish for dinner (maybe better for brunch).

Willy's Prime U.S. Beef Tartar - Tasted fresh and was nice to nibble on a cracker. Not bad.

Grilled Marinated Lamb Skewers, Eastern Smoked Eggplant With Chickpea Emulsion - This dish was quite delicious. The lamb chops/skewers were slightly gamey (I like it that way), flavorful and juicy. It was sitting on a bed of smoked eggplant and chickpea emulsion which was a refreshing contrast to the savory lamb chops. Would definitely order again.

Willy's Special Sea-Mountain Wild Lobster Paella - Honestly...it is not easy finding good paella in Hong Kong. I find a lot of the time chefs here seem to produce a Spanish style fried rice more so than a paella. This dish I thought was really good in comparison. Generous portions of lobster (cooked just right) and the rice was tasty and just the right level of moistness. This dish easily feeds 4 and I think it is a must order dish at Fofo. Yum.

Churros With Chocolate Sauce (not on menu) - Personally I was disappointed in this dish since it recommended by our waiter as a signature dessert. The churros itself looked so small (almost like oversized Cheetos) but the nail in the coffin for this dish was the texture of the churros. Churros are supposed to be slightly crispy but soft in nature but these churros were too crispy and hard. Reminded me more of a french fry or maybe Cheetos chips. Chocolate sauce was decent but not particular special.

Overall an above average meal but when I factor in the price of $530/head (we ordered a jug of sangria) I think this meal should have delivered more. I think Fofo is still a pretty good place to take a date. The dishes I recommend below are actually perfect to share between 2 people (although paella might be a little much for 2 people). Fofo I think has the potential to be a good place but currently still needs a few tweaks to get there.

There were a few slices of fish, some were thicker and some were thinner. I nearly finished the dish and was about to start off with the last slice of fish when I realised that it was not thoroughly cooked and quite raw on the inside

I called the waitress over (who happened to be the owner of the restaurant). A few minutes later, she came out with the same maincourse (serving it as a new dish) and was apologetic with what happened.

They even served us complimentary dessert at the end as a compensation of the quality of food.

The decor and atmosphere is quite mediterranean. All white and minimalist in some ways but I liked the experience all in all.

This place is very cute with funky decor. Nice casual environment to get together with friends. Try to reserve a window seat if possible but quite glarey on a sunny day. They mixed up our reservation so we got orange mint julep??(don't know what it was) on the house which was the highlight of the meal. Having said that this could be a really nice place to have drinks and snack with friends.

我們先試了一些小食:

黑松露煎鵝肝: 
鵝肝很入味,配上黑松露,名貴亦冶味。
紅酒燴牛臉肉配炸香蕉:
牛臉肉很軟滑,未試過牛面珠塾,肉淋夾酒香,配炸香蕉,很特別。
有機蛋配、伊比利亞燻火腿配炸薯仔及洋蔥絲:
這個很很特別,蛋在中央,燻火腿及炸薯仔都火紅紅的。份量夠而色艷。

套餐頭盤來了,有濃湯。
傳統漁夫海鮮湯:
湯色如火山岩漿,好似中式紅豆沙,味道很濃。
西班牙蕃茄凍湯:
我們沒試,以前試過,凍湯好像不適合廣東人胃口。
鮮蝦什菌枌卷配龍蝦忌廉汁:
賣相有點似中式腸粉,內裡是鮮蝦什菌甚為健康,龍蝦忌廉汁濃味而香。
扒茄子蕃茄水牛芝士沙津配乾茄香草醬:
沙津很「的式」,四款中賣相最好看。

主菜
香煎鯛魚柳配田園雜菜
煎得很香,但魚似乎太熟,不滑而「難」,有點很普通,不像西班牙菜。
西班牙紅酒燴牛肉配白飯
牛肉扣得很淋,西班牙出名紅酒,不知是否用西班牙紅酒。不過盛器似乎有點那個,有點華南牛腩之感。
野菌榛子仁火腿燴飯
榛子仁燴飯加上風乾火腿,樣子一般,只是久違了風乾火腿。
巴塞隆拿風味漢堡配必然芝士、煙肉、洋蔥、菠菜及松子仁配田園沙律或薯條
名字好長,來了,就是一個漢堡包,牛肉很厚,食完不用吃其他了。
東西味道不錯,至於西班牙的風味好像不大?

甜品
雪糕及雪芭,冬日橘子果肉配香草拖肥忌廉汁,個個都一樣,沒什麼特別,當然是要試加泰隆尼亞忌廉奶凍。記得在巴塞隆拿吃這個,有很大驚喜,當時一大缽好似炖蛋,加上焦糖面,簡直是最佳甜品,故此西班牙餐廳一定不可少這個。上來了,不是吧,那麼小,可惜,可惜!!

不如多叫一些試下,再叫了馬斯卡波尼奶酪慕司配野莓及香蕉蛋糕,賣相很美。
再來一個巴塞隆拿人最愛的Espresso,一細杯像飲藥,一口渴掉。在那邊,Double Espresso才夠喉。

總廚阿力士剛出來,他主動介紹,原來他是地道巴塞隆拿來的,而且更是在那裡一個名勝高地設計我大屋Gaudi Casa Batlo 出生。他說香港人不喜歡吃太油太濃,故此他稍作調整。….. 哦,難怪在巴塞隆拿見的熱情豪放,滿台的橄欖油都沒有。可能都香港化了。

The dinner at Fofo was highly anticipated, as we are true fans of tapas style cuisine and our visit to the Shanghai property left us with memorable experiences.
As first time guests at Fofo, the initial impression lacked a sense of welcome. In fact, the lady at the door, whom was later learned as one of the owners, gave us a once over and walked away, leaving us standing at the door in search of someone to seat us!
A smiley waiter finally arrived, confirmed our reservation and escorted us to a banquette table. Perhaps lack of experience, he stood, still smiling, while we scrambled to get into the banquette without offering to pull the table out for easy access!
While menus were quickly offered and the waiter learned that we were waiting for the
rest of the party to arrive, this did not prompt him to offer beverages. The number of staff and owners certainly out numbered the number of guests, 15 minutes into the wait, we finally had to flagged someone to take our drink orders!
The manager who took our order demonstrated good menu knowledge and highly recommended the lobster soup and suckling pig. We ordered additional dishes including organic eggs and squid ink paella.
In terms of food quality, we found the lobster soup to be of excellent flavor and quality, quite a substantial portion, which left us rather full to carry on with the rest of the courses.
The suckling pig arrived quite decorative though cooled quickly and the skin lacked crunchiness.
The organic egg with iberico ham was simply ordinary and not worth the price it commence.
The squid ink paella was highly flavorful, though beware, the squid ink is so concentrated that it will instantly stain your teeth jet black not to mention your lips!
Resulting in us having to order extra bottles of water to "rinse" our teeth and wipe our lips!
Definitely not a good dish to order if you are on a date or maybe it is a good thing!
The overall dining experience was somewhat disappointing! The service staff was generally courteous but lacked attention to detail (the extra place settings were never removed from our table), given the fact that there were only a few tables occupied, food quality was either hit or miss though we can tell that much thought and effort has been put into the food presentation.
In general, we also felt that management lacked a sense of professionalism. The manager who provided recommendation never returned to our table to inquire on our satisfaction on his suggestion or if we require anything else.
Though a second lady, who identified herself as one of the owners, came to our table but the visit was ill timed as she intrusively interrupted our conversation so that she can introduce herself and went into a lengthy chat. Highly insensitive that our food was getting cold.
The first lady who ignored us at the door initially was highly interactive with diners at a nearby table though gave us a good glimpse of her thong underwear (probably unintentional though we wonder that she must have felt the draft) while crouching over at the nearby table!
