She took our orders without pen and paper, and we were betting whether she'll muck it up. She got most of them right, except my beetroot and arugula salad turned into the mixed salad with pumpkin. Which was alright really, it's just leaves.

The pumpkin salad was large in portion, fresh leaves, VERY lightly seasoned, such that I had to ask for the olive oil and balsamic vinegar to drizzle more taste onto it. The portobello with chicken strips and bacon was on a thin layer of arugula, which would have looked better if it were on a "bed" of leaves. The mushroom was coated in batter and deep fried, but you can tell this step was done way before the order was put in, as the mushroom was cold, the batter oily and soggy, and the whole thing was bland save for the gooey sauce that coated the chicken and bacon, which were unbalancingly salty. The calamari was the same, pre-fried, cold, bland, and the texture was almost like warm chewing gum, not fresh or firm at all. It was quite disappointing.

The best dish of the night was the proscuitto and arugula pizza, which I prefered over the Suprema, which we were told was spicier than the Diavolo, but ended up with about 5 chilly flakes on the whole pizza and we had to generously sprinkle on more chilly flakes and throw some Tabasco on for flavour. The pizza crusts were thin and crispy to our liking, there was a moderate amount of cheese which was crowded around the centre, which kept it light and not overly filling.

這間座落於這區有名食街爹核士街的店子地方不大,店中最吸引的擺設,不是牆上的照片、圖畫或酒瓶,而是天花板上造型特別的風扇和開放式廚房中的紅磚爐,教人不期然想到意大利薄餅的美味。

可惜這天我與老婆仔兩人來到的時候已過了午飯時間,當店中的女侍應告訴我已沒有薄餅供應的時候,著實令自己感到有點失望
。不過既然來到了,當然不會因為沒有薄餅吃而打退堂鼓啦!所以還是點選了一款多位食友都曾經大讚,簡單得來又不容易做得好的意粉 Aglio Olio,再加一個自己很感興趣的頭盤 Fried Portobello,和老婆仔一起分嚐。

Aglio Olio 這材料簡單,只是以烤蒜片、紅椒與橄欖油炒香的意粉,雖然看似簡單,但要炒得好一點也不容易,這兒的水準確是不錯,夠香,夠熱,夠辣,也夠味道
。但可能正因為它的味道偏於濃烈,對於喜歡重口味的人來說,可能會十分歡喜,但對於一向吃得清淡的老婆仔來說,她便不是太喜歡了
。而即使是我,對於這碟其實水準還不錯的意粉的評價,也只是中上而已,雖然意粉彈牙,蒜味香濃,但油份偏多,個人覺得並未算是頂尖兒的美味。

對於我來說,比 Aglio Olio 更早來到的 Fried Portobello 是更吸引和更美味的
。這份量十足的大烤菇,厚身的菇肉肉汁豐盈,加上不少的雞肉絲和火箭菜,配以濃味的醬汁,絕對合自己的口胃
。但當然,對於一向吃得清淡的老婆仔來說,同樣地覺得味道是太濃了,不是她那杯茶

這個真的很特別!!這麼大的Portobello是炸過的,所以外層脆脆的,不過內裡多汁,搭配brown sauce 更加美味。這個portobello的處理手法我覺得蠻有讓我驚喜的感覺。
然後還搭配了滿滿的rocket,我超愛的!雖然有人嫌苦,不過搭配起來還滿特別的。

皮是薄的!!(請忽視我對薄餅皮的瘋狂)然後也脆脆的,有麥香,算是相當有水準的pizza。然後搭配parma ham 和 rocket 好好吃。rocket可以讓火腿pizza看起來沒那麼重口味(就蛋白質abundance的感覺),也可以中和parma ham 的鹹香。
看到隔壁檯的一對情侶點的pancetta pizza with egg 感覺好好味!尤其是刺破蛋黃之後蛋液向外擴散的時候。所以決定一定要再來嘗試這個pizza。
Other Info. : 想說我們到了之後不久就陸陸續續來了些客人,蠻快地小店就坐滿了。所以是大家習慣8點吃飯,還是其實其他人是因為看到店裡有我們才進來的?(自己想太多?哈哈)

我們先點了 starter: Caprese Salad。這個 salad 主角水牛芝士。水牛芝士的芝士味不重,反而奶味好出,感覺很輕盈,吃多了也不會覺得很'流'的感覺!下層是番茄仔,蔭上 olive oil 及配上 basil,番茄仔配 olive oil 很清新。

另外,order了一個Spaghetti Aglio Olio (香蒜橄欖油意大利麵),細佬千叮萬囑一定要order這個,他說這裡做得很出色。

其實這個意粉材料很簡單,只是蒜片和橄欖油,但愈簡單的材料,愈難做得好味。
這意粉一上檯,已經聞到香濃的蒜片味,食慾大增。
急不及待試了一口,的確很好味道,蒜片和橄欖油份量配合得很好,意粉軟硬度適中。
意外驚喜是,這意粉加了辣椒在內,提升了味道。辣味香濃,很適得嗜辣的我。

唯一美中不足是,我覺得咸了一點。但當我之後向細佬提及,他說之前吃了幾次,也不覺得特別咸。
可能我這次,廚師失手落多了鹽吧。

但這個Spaghetti Aglio Olio 實在是十分推介,必試!

I gave this place a very positive review several months ago.....so on my recent visit I was very disappointed to have what could only be termed a decidedly mediocre experience. Like far too many restaurants that start out with great care and effort, they have not been able to sustain their success.

The place was very busy (on a Friday) night....and that was to be expected. The staff coped quite well with the stress of serving a full place.

The wine is still very very good, though at prices that are more suitable for SoHo than Kennedy Town.

But the disappointment lay in the food.

Rocket and beetroot salad: Just okay. A rocket salad with a few chunks of this-and-that added.

Fettucine alle vongole: Poor. Swimming in far too much liquid for any self-respecting pasta chef, and frankly pretty tasteless. Had neither the flavour of clams nor garlic, and as a result we left half the dish over.

Pizza with prosciutto di parma: Again, just okay. Nice thin crust with a couple pieces of ham spread over the pizza. Covered with a mound of rocket that was mostly "sticks and stems and seeds" -- not much of a garnish.

After this disappointment, we gave up without trying dessert.

There are now 3 pizza places in the Davis St. strip....I'd be tempted to try the others before going back here.

來他們開業到現在, 前前後後也來了四次, 之後還有去過大坑店呢到這我喜歡點的, 還是那些這個薯條開店之前是沒有的, 這裡的薯條被很多人大讚真的好吃呢, 每一條都是直直的, 吃起來每一條都是夠脆, 薯味很香但如果只有兩三個人不是對薯條太喜歡的話就不要點了, 因為有很多條, 不是不好吃, 但我吃到膩了aglio olio每次必點的香蒜橄欖油意大利麵, 光是蒜片之香已令這意粉很好吃而且蠻辣的, 非常對我的口味, 愛吃蒜味的人一定會喜歡這個意大利麵也有咬口, 就是簡單, 但就是夠好吃pancetta這是我很愛的一款薄餅, 薄薄的餅皮上面的茄醬加上芝士已經很香加上煙肉, 番茄, 還有濃稠美味的蛋黃, 吃過一次, 絕對會想再吃第二次第三次tiramisu這裡的tiramisu軟滑香甜, 酒味不會很重, 可能有些人沒有那麼喜歡但這個美味的甜品小朋友也能吃, 也是店家貼心的地方想吃美味的薄餅跟意粉, 還是會不斷地再來

一直說很想來吃,不過一直就嫌地方遠,又好像很多人,所以都只記在心上沒有行動。某次約了某友周五晚上吃飯,早一日打去還可以訂座,於是就山長水遠 (其實也不算太遠…那時我在長沙灣上班) 走去吃了。某友在公司已一早在網上看了吃甚麼 (也好明顯知道我對吃甚麼應該沒甚麼主意…) 點菜後來的第一道菜,竟然是要焗的 pizza panchetta with italian egg,panchetta 的分量很多,入口帶油香 (大部分都是肥脂嘛),切得夠薄的關係也不會太膩,更何況有蕃茄的酸甜,非常好吃;egg 可選本地農場或是意大利的,要了後者,不知有甚麼分別,但把蛋黃戳穿,讓蛋汁流出來拌 pizza 吃,蛋香甚濃,對我來說也是一次新的體驗。pizza 最重要的餅底,這裏弄得薄脆,加上大量芝士,實在沒有不好吃的道理,明知是肥到嘔也吃了兩三塊!pasta 要了 carbonara speghetti,忌廉汁厚重,帶點黏口,非常滑身,蛋香比起其他餐廳要濃,而且煙肉下得非常多 (甚或我覺得是稍多了點),讓 pasta 增添了鹹香氣,也是好吃的 pasta。身為前菜類的 caprese salad 竟然是最後才

pasta 要了 carbonara speghetti,忌廉汁厚重,帶點黏口,非常滑身,蛋香比起其他餐廳要濃,而且煙肉下得非常多 (甚或我覺得是稍多了點),讓 pasta 增添了鹹香氣,也是好吃的 pasta。

身為前菜類的 caprese salad 竟然是最後才來到,上菜次序實在有點奇怪…不過水準不錯,水牛芝士入口帶點彈性,微羶的奶香相當吸引,而且也吃得出相當新鮮;底下的 cherry tomatoes 不算非常新鮮但還算多汁味美,balsamic vinegar 不知為何有點太稠,跟以往吃過的經驗有點距離,還好整個沙拉都搭配得不錯啦。

沒上鏡的還有一 jar sangria,對,酒量不好的我和某友一人半 jar 幹掉了 sangria!喝到最後我完全眼訓到唔知自己講緊咩 -_-"不過這裏 sangria 紅酒的分量其實不算太多,又,可否用個比較靚少少的 jar 來盛 sangria 呢…這裏用的是個 cheap cheap fruit punch 會用的那種 jar...

侍應服務不錯,即使後來客人漸多,也還是勤快有禮得很。買單約六百,不要酒水的話其實每人大概 $200 左右,食物好吃,寫來又很想再去吃了!

I find myself thinking about Piccolo pizzeria .. probably at least once a day, when I am not eating there.Although it is a small place, the staff is extremely helpful (especially with making wine choices) and the bathroom is very clean The food just keeps us coming back for more! Fried chicken * - this was Super delish, we had to refrain from ordering seconds!! This dish goes hand-in-hand with Piccolo's fusilli bolognese. ** I tend to order innies like fusilli/penne for bolognese because innies can trap all the sauce inside them!

If you're feeling guilty and feel like ordering some veggies, I would recommend the Warm green salad - Fresh greens with pumpkin pieces. Great for sharing!

I look forward to trying Piccolo's Blanca "white pizza" next time I visit!


** IMPORTANT NOTE ** Although it says Piccolo pizzeria is opened till 3am on Openrice, they stop serving food WAY before that.. I would know because I tried going there after a night out!!
So best to call ahead and check if they are still serving food before you travel all the way out there from Central!

另外, 店子漏單的情況很嚴重, 我要多番去追單, 但店員是完全沒有任何答覆, 我追完之後, 起碼都要回覆一下究竟那菜色你們是否還在預備.

French Fries $60: 7分, 人客甚多, 要等好一陣子才有薯條來到. 炸得熱辣辣, 不會太油, 脆卜卜, 份量也不少, 要了一客, 其實都夠大家分吃.

Minestrone $45 x 2: 7分, 吹完一輪風, 當然要飲啖湯暖暖胃, 先來的是意大利雜菜湯, 要了兩客大家分喝. 湯是熱度十足的, 因為下了不少雜菜, 飲落口是幾清甜, 是幾健康的選擇.

Fried Cheese $110: 7分, 這客其實也是沙律, 就是簡單的火箭菜配上番茄, 兩者都相當新鮮, 而主角就是底下的芝士配上火腿, 幾香濃的, 還好有清新的火箭菜中和一下.

Panchetta $130: 8分, 來到薄餅的環節, 先來的就是Panchetta, 面頭的是隻半生熟雞蛋, 當我們把蛋刺開之後, 蛋汁就被薄餅所吸收, 讓薄餅蛋香滿溢. 薄餅本身夠薄, 相當香脆, 配上的煙肉帶鹹香, 而蕃茄就酸酸甜甜的, 配合上來是相當匹配的.

Agile olio Linguine $120: 8分, 來到pasta的部份, 先來的是Agile olio, 是蒜片, 辣椒以及橄欖油的組合. Linguine質感對辦, 有咬口. 吸收了蒜片及辣椒的味道是變得非常濃烈, 辣度十足, 頌揚吃了一口就受不了, 我也只能勉強應付.

Vongole Fettuccini $150: 8分, 再來的就是Vongole, 即是白酒煮蜆, 對不起, 又是不適合頌揚吃的意粉. 蜆是幾靚的, 帶鮮味, 白酒味道也幾突出, 選上;了fettuccini, 質感是帶al dante, 吸收了蜆的鮮味, 也是精彩的.

Carbonara Spaghetti $140: 8分, 也要了客最大路的Carbonara, 這裡做得也有水準, 蛋汁香濃, 煙肉帶鹹香, spaghetti是比較能夠吸收到個醬汁, 相當入味, 加上質感夠彈牙, 簡單而令人滿意. 之後再追加一碟Carbonara, 選了angel hair, 反而不太合適, 因為angel hair是沒有那麼容易吸收那醬汁. 如果要吃Carbonara的話, 還是選擇spaghetti吧.

Tiramisu $60: 7分, 來到甜點的時候, 頌揚們都不是甜人, 只要兩款讓大家試試好了. Tiramisu做得層次分明, 芝士夠細滑,咖啡味濃郁, 不過就嫌酒香不太出到了, 是店方沒有下咖啡酒的緣故? 份量小小的, 賣$60一客, 其實是偏貴的.

整體食物是有水準的. 加上6罐汽水, 每罐$15, 埋單$1903, 每人$190, 不是便宜的價位, 但想到吃了那麼多款式的甜品, 還算是合理吧. 環境方面, 其實相當擠逼, 地方還算簡潔. 不過是晚最大問題還是服務, 真是令人難以接受, 就算食物質素再高也無辦法抵消這方面的過失. 或許不少朋友是對這店推崇備至, 但我只想講的是這樣子的服務態度實難令我對這裡作出推介.

閒日的晚上,和友人在家附近晚飯20:30左右到達店內, 10多張的二人枱都差不多坐滿了, 只餘下一兩張夾在兩枱中間, 由於地方不算寛躺 (其實是有點擠逼), 便決定坐在門口的一張高枱, 好讓有多點位子坐在放食物. 看著街吃PIZZA, 配合店子那紅磚和有如小鎮街角酒吧的裝潢, 都有一點外國小店的感覺呢拿起餐牌, 只有前後兩頁, 不過10多款Pizza, 湯, 前菜, Pasta, 小食, 要有的都應有了. 最後兩個人點了一個Starter, 一個Pizza, 一個小食, 和兩杯飲品Starter: Calamari Fritti – 雖然是starter, 卻是最後一道才來到的菜, 不過也沒有所謂吧, 反正都是當作小食. 一籃子的炸魷魚圈, 賣相吸引, 可以看得出是剛剛新鮮炸好. 在旁配有兩款醬, 一個是lemon mayo, 另一個是arrabbiata sauce, 味道像是一總有些小辣的蕃茄醬, 底下真的有一片片的蒜頭, 製作也蠻認真呢. 吃一口魷魚圈, 炸得真的不錯, 炸漿不多而炸得金黃香脆, 內裡的魷魚生熟程度也剛剛好, 吃下去時還保持那滑溜的感覺. 配任何一種醬都好, 是一

Pizza: Suprema – 既然主打是賣Pizza, 當然要試一試. 聞說這裡燒簿餅的炭爐是特別訂製的, 以達到它們最想要的效果. Pizza都是薄的那一種, 而且只有一個size (11’). 表面差不多整個薄餅都舖滿了芝士, 一片又一片的豬肉腸, 洋葱和磨菇. 吃一口, 芝味香濃, 表面焗得乾乾但中間還有是溶的, 而餅皮焗得香脆, 很有水準. 再一口, 便吃到香腸, 磨菇和洋葱的味道了, 除了洋葱略乾了一點以外, 其餘都沒有可以挑剔的地方了

由於沒有酒精, 點了一杯Lime Soda來送Pizza, 味道是可以的, 不過好像份量太少了. 幸好在喝完以後, 待應貼心地立即奉上了一杯凍水, 值得一讚.

西環是我比較少踏足的區域,其實工作與住處距離此處並不遙遠,可能是沒什麽親戚朋友住這邊吧!但瞄上Piccolo真是很久了,只是約不到朋友過來,自己一個人過來只吃一兩樣東西又太過浪費,所以就一直拖著。 這天朋友剛考完試,算是完成一個階段性任務,特地和她到這裡,吃吃飯、吹吹風、聊聊天,放鬆一下!我們只有兩個人,點了一個starter,一個pizza,一個pasta。 Pizza Panchette with soft egg (Italian Egg):這個pizza真的很棒,是我在香港吃到最好吃的pizza之一。(Paisano's也不錯,但兩者完全不是一個風格,如果放在一起比較,對Paisano's不太公平,呵呵!)餅底超薄,香脆;上面的餡料種類不多,只是cheese、bacon和一個雞蛋,卻異常足料,特別是cheese,非常慷慨,拿起一片看,cheese層甚至厚過餅底,加上剛烤出來的麵粉香氣,優質雞蛋和bacon的香濃滋味,怎能不讓人打快朵頤?bacon不干,油脂散發的馥鬱香氣和cheese很搭,tomato增添了清爽的味覺,平衡一下其他材料的濃味,很棒! Caprese Salad:
上次在Linguini Fini吃過甚是滿意,這裡也有,愛好cheese的我當然要嘗一下。總體來説,不是太好,差過Linguini Fini。
問題出在mozzarella,切下去時候就覺得有些不妥,外層沒有問題,紋理清晰,可以按紋路撕成一片一片;但中間部分到内部,質地變得很軟焾,如同goat cheese,而不是内外如一,彈性相同的mozzarella。吃到嘴裏的感覺也正如切下去的手感,外部沒有問題,但中間和内部很軟爛,毫無彈性,口感不佳。味道上其實還是可以的,乳香依舊,只是口感和彈性差比較遠,感覺不是那麽新鮮。
Cherry Tomato處理得不錯,好過Linguini Fini,沒有多加烹飪,只是最簡單的加了olive oil和vinegar,原汁原味,tomato清新爽口,olive oil豐富了味覺層次,vinegar則讓這道菜更加酸甜開胃。
但始終mozzarella是主角,所以這道菜算是除了問題的。當時端上來,olive oil和vinegar有稍稍凝固,很明顯是雪藏過的,很可能是因爲放了太久而不夠新鮮。

Penne Carbonara:
本身並不差,但因爲Panchette pizza的出眾,不禁有些失色。Penne煮得不錯,不硬但也有咬勁;Carbonara夠香,還有些辣,對於能吃辣的我完全沒有問題,而且覺得更好吃,比較特別,不至於和別處一樣而顯得千篇一律。

小小的店生意很好,6點開始便很多客人,有不少來買pizza外帶。位置比較逼迫,但食物質素足夠彌補空間的不足,我一定會再回來!

吃完到海邊散步,周圍環境雖不算寧靜,但比起中環和灣仔的嘈雜真是好過太多,有种身處城市郊外的感覺;吹吹海風,和朋友閒聊談心,還意外看到遠處Desneyland的煙花,這份偷閑真是讓人身心愉悅。
