Buratta Chesse!

Ham,Mushroom & Spinach Omelette,

Chocolate Hazelnut Fondant with Chocolate Coffee Sorbet,$75,而男朋友亦想試試Coconut Tart with Pineapple Sorbet。

I have been there for 3 times already since my first visit in January this year. I was pleasantly surprised by the consistency of their food quality. Their emphasis of cooking with local and organic vegetables also suite me. Basically, anything on the menu is great. I particularly like their home made buffalo cheese with tomatos. Hand made pasta is also excellent. I hope they continue to do well.

I just love this place - the food, the atmosphere, the wine. Ticks all the right boxes!I enjoy the fresh taste of the food and authentic cooking styles. The wine list is fantastic and the service is excellent. I have eaten here many times now and Posto Publico is one of my favorite HK restaurants. Of course not cheap but well worth the money!

Complimentary bread - Ciabatta: freshly baked out of the oven, nicely seasoned, and slightly chewy to the bite (the correct consistency!)

Spaghetti in chilli tomato sauce: i have nothing against tinned tomatoes if they are of good quality... only tasted acidity here without any sweetness... tomatoes' best friend basil was nowhere in sight.. flavour's boring

Meatballs: they used the same sauce as above

Tagliatelle in pesto sauce with peas: interesting combination.

Gourmet burger: a burger with an egg geez how special was that.

Home-made bread - very soft and warm. Feels like it's fresh from the oven. Good.

Mozzarella with tomato and basil - very fresh and yummy. The home-made mozzarella is very light, but the texture is incredible. The basil is fresh and tastes yummy when taken together with the mozzarella and tomato. This was my favourite dish for the meal.

Meatball in tomato sauce - very good. Although we shared the starters, by this time and with all the bread I was full
but still we manage to almost clear this plate.

Tuna fish salad - probably the only disappointing dish. We thought it would be fresh tuna, but it was canned brine tuna with romaine. The romaine was very fresh, but we skipped the tuna as it was nothing special.

Braised ox cheeks - good rustic Italian style with lots of basil and lots of tomato and a tad bit spicy. I personally don't like to eat beef that much, but this is very heart warming and filling dish.

I skipped the dessert and had coffee instead as I was too full.

Overall, the food here is very fresh and tasty. This is not a place to have fancy food, but this is one home-style Italian restaurant I think I will definitely visit again.

Straw & Hay Pasta - Yellow and green pasta in cream sauce with Pancetta. Sort of like a Carbonara sauce, thick and creamy, very nice. Pasta are cooked al dente, and the portions are just right for girls.

Comes with illy coffee (if I remembered correctly) and its not bad!

The table we're seated at is a little small but it was close to the entrance so it's very soho-alfresco lunch style. Service was nice!

I booked the dinner for 4 ppl at 8pm and requested for a booth, and in advance I asked whether I could bring my own wine. The reply was "Yes, with corkage $350 or to order a bottle of wine from the restaurant where the corkage can be waived”

That evening arrived and we brought along a nice bottle of red to share; we asked the waitress to reconfirmed the corkage arrangement, she seems unsure at the time be seeked advice with her manager whom was nearby, our reply was “Yes, your corkage can be waived with ordering a bottle from us” so went ahead and ordered a bottle of white to start the evening.

Within five minutes of opening the bottle of white the following conversation was held between the Guest and the Manager:
(note* "M"=Manager "G"=Guest which is us)

M: I am sorry but cannot waive your corkage.
G: But I have called to confirm, and your waitress just came back and confirmed with us that we can bring a bottle with corkage free if we order a bottle of the wine list.
M: I am afraid the waitress has misunderstood your request.
G: What do you mean?? I even asked when I originally called for the reservations?
M: Oh, the receptionist takes 300 calls a day and it's not uncommon for her to have got it wrong.
G: She got our booking name right, the request for a booth right, time right, corkage right. So what went wrong?
M: SIR, I CANNOT waive your corkage (in a very unfriendly, unmannered tone)
G: So, what would you like us to do?
M: Sir, this is a high volume restaurant, I can buy out the bottle you have ordered from us, so you can give us back the table. There are other guests waiting who would easily spend $2000 on this table.
G: What was that! Don’t throw money at me! Sorry we are not leaving, we’ll eat here….

Our final bill was HKD 1900 with tips.
Nice fat service and a great way to chase away clients….

First came with bread basket, sided with salt or olive oil. The bread was yummy ... it felt like handmade, hard to describe. And it was of room temperature, still spongy.

Here was my breakfast: scrambled egg and brioche, plus pork sausage by adding extra $60. The highlight was the brioche. It was thick, rich and filled up my hunger! It was like a thick toast which was like my breakfast favorite! The scrambled egg was ok. The pork sausage was actually good, stuffed with fresh minced pork, yet less salty would be perfect.

Pasta was my dear's order, claiming that the quality was of Gaia's quality. While I took a bit, the whole dish was like homecooking to me, The minced meat sauce was very good. And the pasta was of great texture. When it came to serve, it was not a big dish. However, it was surprisingly filling up your stomach.

In the end, I could not resist having a hot coffee for my breakfast ... nice, not overcooked.

Overall speaking, I think their ingredients were fresh, apparently.

Long time have not been to Soho area, and I was glad the retreat came with a qualified restaurant

- veal meatballs ($100): fluffy as some people like, but we felt it had too much breadcrumbs and not enough veal. Not meaty at all. Smothered in red tomato sauce which was tasty, but nothing special. The two meatballs were served plain on a small white plate.
- eggplant rolls ($100): two slices of eggplant, fried, filled with cheese, rolled, then smothered in same red sauce. Same taste. Also served plain on a small white plate.
- grandma pie ($35/slice): nothing special. Nothing special. Dough did not have a great texture. Red sauce same as above.
If we wanted a red sauce experience, we would have saved our pennies and gone to fat angelo's.

We also had main courses but they were also nothing to write home about. We did not try the pastas this time and apparently the pasta is worth trying.

A few more points to make.
- Pecorino is not superior to proper parmesan (parmiggiano reggiano), just more mild. If you compare it to parmesan (origins unspecified, perhaps by Kraft), then that is a completely different story.
- Not not having a service charge is only a positive if that means the service charge goes to the waiter. It does not change what you pay out from your pocket anyway. If you have a heart, then you would probably pay 15-20%, which is more than the 10% that any other ordinary restaurant would have put on it. Service was decent but not outstanding. All restaurants should pay their staff a decent wage so that they don't survive on tips. And plenty of restaurants around town manage to provide excellent and knowledgeable service without this extra incentive.

I would say the commendable things this restaurant does is to buy organic and buy local. Decor is nice. And also to make their mozzarella in-house. However, the mozzarella isn't great, maybe because the milk supply in HK is not the best quality. No fragrance, rubbery, not much flavor.

All in all, conclude that we will not be going back unless we see a long string of very outstanding reviews here and see some changes either in portion or pricing.

It is always fully booked for dinner time. So, we had late lunch after 2pm. The decor is nice and service is good. However, we don't have many choices from the menu. We order set lunch with salad, pasta and coffee. Salad is fresh. Pasta is like food court quality. The best thing is no service charge. Of course, the waiter and waitress are quite helpful that you are willing to tip them well. So far, it is a beautiful restaurant with average quality of food.
